That said some Japanese games have only japanese languages and menus so are unplayable by somone who doesnt know japanese here is what every region mean

feature on their machines was no doubt genuine and understandable. As a matter of providing
customer satisfaction and building loyalty, it may have been questionable. As a legal matter,

I had just posted here a few days ago about the OtherOS case, well unfortunately, Sony’s request for dismissal has been granted, here is a quote of some of the court case.

The flaw in plaintiffs’ analogy is that they are claiming rights not only with respect to the
features of the PS3 product, but also to have ongoing access to an internet service offered by Sony,
the PSN. A somewhat fanciful, but more apt, analogy would be if Toyota sold hybrid vehicles with
an advertisement campaign touting that Toyota owners would have access to a recreational driving
facility, a no-speed limit amusement park for cars. Then, at some time thereafter, Toyota instituted
a rule that its hybrids would not be permitted in the park unless the owners allowed the battery
feature to be disabled. In those circumstances, Toyota hybrid owners who declined to authorize
disabling of the battery feature would still have fully-functional hybrid vehicles, capable of running
on an electric motor or a gasoline engine, as appropriate under the conditions. Similarly, PS3
owners who declined to install Firmware Update 3.21 still have fully-functioning devices, capable
of either being used as game consoles to play games on optical disks, or as computers, with the
Other OS feature.
While plaintiffs would characterize the ability to access the PSN as a “fundamental feature”
of the PS3 itself, it cannot be disputed that the “feature” is dependent on something outside the
actual device—i.e., the continued existence of the PSN. Additionally, plaintiffs acknowledge that
installation of Firmware Update 3.21 was entirely at the discretion of the user; indeed they have
proposed separate subclasses for those who did chose to download it and those who did not. The
choice may have been a difficult one for those who valued both the Other OS feature and access to
the PSN, but it was still a choice.
Under these circumstances, it cannot be said that Sony “unilaterally took away a
fundamental feature of a product after that product [was] sold to a consumer.” Rather, Sony
unilaterally imposed a requirement that PS3 owners who wanted continued access to the PSN
service would have to allow the Other OS feature in their machines to be disabled. As a
consequence, for Sony’s conduct to have been in any manner wrongful, it is not enough for
plaintiffs to show that they have a right to expect continued availability of the Other OS feature
beyond the warranty period, but also a right to continued access to the PSN.
Nothing in plaintiffs’ factual allegations or their arguments is sufficient to support a
conclusion that Sony has any obligation to maintain the PSN in operation indefinitely. Had Sony
elected to shut down the PSN entirely, and for some unknown reason then offered PS3 owners the
option to disable the Other OS feature on their machines, users who elected to do so would plainly
have no claim for loss of the OS Feature.1 Nor would it be sufficient for plaintiffs merely to say
that, having elected not to shut down the PSN entirely, Sony had no right to limit access to the
service to those who agreed to disable the Other OS feature. This is not a discrimination case, and
nothing in plaintiffs’ factual allegations supports the existence of a legally enforceable duty on
Sony’s part to refrain from altering the conditions under which users are permitted access to the
PSN.

PS3 Homebrew game developer ThatOtherDev has released a Homebrew game called Neo Trail, here is a quote from the source:

In Neo Trail you control a ship that is constantly moving forward. Once you pass over a square on the grid it will begin to raise up. If you get pushed up onto the top of a fully raised block then the game will reset.
The high score is displayed but not saved.
I’m not sure if it’s similar enough to be considered a clone (although that is what it was originally going to be) but it’s obviously inspired by that movie. You know the one.
Later I might add split screen multiplayer and/or an NPC to play against.

Im sure all of you know who CondorStrike is by now, he is the creator of the awesome ‘Solar’ app, today he has released an app, that should save a bit of time and the annoyance of holding the power button.

His app, puts the PS3 into a pseudo recovery mode, without having to go into recovery by holding the power button, here is a quote from the source:

No more hold down power crap…lol.
If anyone wants to try on 3.55+ to try and downgrade, my answer is try it…what’s there to loose…

So far ,i ve just compil the lastest hatari src (1.6.1) with psl1ghtv2 (SDL used) and i only make few hacks to done it work (a little) .

Know Problems:

- Works only with a keyboard & a mouse cnx to the ps3 !

- Some pb with SDL1.2 hatari code (ex: code Keysym 1.2 different from 1.3) so i make quick dirty hack , not all the keys are working
and it’s seem to break a lot keyrepeat .

- Hatari & sdlgui use partial screen update , and PS3 SDL don’t have hardware cursor code , so i make another quick & very bad hack to
show something we can call a mouse pointer (hum i know it’s a square) and force the gui redraw , this make the gui very bad and slow,
and there is a big lag between mouse action and screen update. Apologize for this.

- In fullscreen mode Gui seem not working correctly so change to desktop mode if needed.

- XMB seem to freeze PS3 when calling from home button so exit from the gui or AltGr-Q combo.

- I ve not tested all the option , just few games , so maybe other pb around …

Sorry for all this problems but i hope you enjoy anyway ( i mean Atari lovers ) somes old good games .

Have in mind that it won’t work for 3.41OFW + dongle. You need to be on 3.41MFW with some lv1 patches like Rogero CFW, Rebug CFW or Hermes CFW (3.41 versions).

The latest update to the multiMAN cobra manager has been released bringing various new and updated features. There are some interesting new updates being made on the manager

A multi-plateform emulator on the JFW DH 3.56 MA, allowing many functions, especially PSX iso emulation without need to the “Cobra” dongle, here is a professionally translated quote of the source article, thanks to hellsing9.

Hello friends, today i present you Dynarec a powerful tool for devs exclusive for ours JFW.
Dynarec is a port of MA the old and powerful patch system in LV2 done by Aerialx (Creator of PS1LIGHT) in 2010, since so many people ignore the fact that not all the old info is useless.
Kammy in 3.41 patched lv2 to execute a recomp dynamic code (knowed by many devs as Dynarecs).
In 3.41 even was contemplated the creation of a dreamcast emulator but this was stepback hence this type of things limited so many devs, but in the case of Kammy we had the possibilty to debug and easy recieve Printfs by net with socat. Having a plus of executing too JIT code.
This video shows how MA356 supports the new and renewed system of Dynarec. (Kammy in 3.41) i gave my thanks to Aerialx for this and regarding other devs you can see with your own eyes (robo hobo and others) you know that when you null the NX protection BIT in LV2 was a great advance never done in superiors FW to 3.50 and now it’s possible in MA.
That’s why the devs left aside develpoments when users passed to 3.5x.
In MA we get again this system giving us more power and possibilities to port more powerful emulators like = N64,dreamcast,NDS, etc.
As you can see in Emulator configuration we left the option *INTERPRETER* off in order to use Dynarec. As you may remember in 3.55 only you can run it but slow with interpreter mode on and bios hle bios emulated. Now any bios can be used with Dynamic recompiler.
I have to say that this new system will have Thegrid as a dynamic patch. Because of this you don’t have to execute anything. Only the Emu.
TheGrid will come with SP1.3 integrated (soon to be published).
Now some other news, i have to anounce that me (Blackdeath)
I am making progress with a job regarding PS3SX which i updated using the source of Anonymous when he published in 2011 fixing some new bugs and optimizing Dynarec.
If i have time enough i will improve it as N64, the only thing left to say to all the devs that we do what we like most that you are invited if you want to join contributing with this development platform that is 3.56MA.
As you know in PS3SX some shaders and filter are missing and for the moment we are at full speed using PE OPS (software) if we had the hardware plugin to obtain better quality like HD mode in 360 will be awesome to have that with the help of other devs that will like to help me to port this to PS3.
