'Machete' Cast Details

Bloody-disgusting have revealed some of the cast details on the Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis 'Machete' film, if true I can safely assume the film will not be a straight to DVD affair:

DANNY TREJO is returning (obviously) as "Machete", the madman bent on revenge.
MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ ("Lost", Fast & Furious, Avatar) is said to be playing "Luz".
JONAH HILL, the comedian who has starred in such films as Superbad and the forthcoming Adam Sandler comedy Funny People, will play "Julio".
Lastly, a legend of our time, ROBERT DE NIRO, will take on the role of "Senator McLaughlin".

A supernatural force brings together two lost souls undergoing radical treatment at an experimental drug-testing facility, but when the facility is locked down for the weekend and the drugs take effect, the human guinea pigs experience sinister hallucinations pointing to a horrific double murder.

Unsure of where reality stops, the apparitions become more and more threatening until the only way to leave the facility alive is to solve this haunting secret.

Noel Fielding To Play The Zombie King In 'I Spit On Your Rave'

Noel Fielding will play the Zombie King in new zombie movie 'I Spit On Your Rave' which will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest amount of zombies caught on camera, by recruiting festival-goes as extras.

The mockumentary, directed by Chris Boyle, is set nine years after mankind was obliterated by a virus released during the 2012 Olympics. Zombies have taken over the world but, like their human ancestors, they are partial to a summer festival. The film is co-financed by Film4 and Warp Films.

Big Chill ticket holders can take part in the film but are to dress as zombies for a big Zombie Chase scene.

The big chase scene will be shot at 7pm on the opening day of Big Chill, August 6, where the Open Air Stage field will be open only to people looking like the living dead.

A spokesman said: ‘While the festival would love for everyone to arrive as a zombie, if revellers don't have time to get make-up and gear together, the Big Chill Festival will provide Zombification Stations.’

‘White face make-up and a bit of fake blood will do, but organisers would love it if participants could go the whole hog. There will be zombie-themed DJ sets and other entertainment to keep festival-goers in the mood.’

Fielding headlined the Big Chill Festival last year with the Mighty Boosh Band, and will also perform a solo set this year.

Zombies Hitchhiking To The Big Chill

In other Noel Fielding news, Fielding will also unveil a new double act next month, without his long time Boosh partner Julian Barrett.

Dave Brown who plays gorilla Bollo in the Boosh will partner with Fielding for the project The Doctor and The Pencil.

‘The blood-smeared doctor will ‘be released’ from The Sunnyvale Institution for the Criminally Insane along with his fellow inmate.’

The act will be unveiled at the Brick Lane Takeover on August 13 at a one day music festival in East London raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

'Bord Snip' Recommends Major Cuts/Changes To Irish Film Board

The Irish Department of Finance has published recommendations for around €5.3bn worth of public spending cuts in the country. €37m of these cuts involve Arts and Culture, which includes the transfer of the Irish Film Board’s functions to a new enterprise agency and discontinuation of the investment fund.

“The Group considers that continued funding of the Irish Film Board is not affordable at this time in the context of other more pressing spending priorities. Given the scale of tax expenditure (€418m since 1993 and €33m in 2008) via the tax incentive scheme for this sector, and given the level of international competition in this market space, there is no objective economic case for subventing the Irish Film Industry. The Group considers that film development is similar to enterprise development activities in other sectors (e.g. manufacturing, services, tourism etc). It concludes that the enterprise promotion and development activities of the Irish Film Board should be transferred to the new enterprise agency (see Detailed Paper No. 5) which incorporates a restructured Enterprise Ireland and the enterprise development functions of a range of other existing agencies. The Group also recommends discontinuation of the dedicated investment fund. Overall, these proposals should lead to a staff reduction of about 17 positions."

The two volume 300-page report (which can be read in full here and here) created by the expert team headed by UCD economist Colm McCarthy includes hundreds of proposals, including a reduction in the allocation of funds for the Arts Council and discontinuing the allocation of money for Cultural Projects.

Could David Tennant Be Announced As The Lead In 'The Hobbit' At Comic-Con?

The LA Times Hero Complex blog are speculating that a soon to be retired time lord could be announced at Comic-Con as the lead in 'The Hobbit'. David Tennant, James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe are said to be in the running and Hero Complex have heard recurring whispers that the actor to play Bilbo Baggins will be announced at Comic-Con.

Interestingly Tennant will be attending the convention as part of a Doctor Who panel where it is also being suggested a Doctor Who movie will be announced. Such is the popularity and talent of Tennant, that his name has been attached to high profile roles such as The Riddler in the third Christopher Nolan Batman film and that he had also been offered roles in numerous big name forthcoming film projects and that this was the reason he stepped down playing the Doctor. Also an extra tidbit Hobbit producer/screenplay writer Peter Jackson is a huge Doctor Who fan.

Tennant's last episode as the time lord will be shown on Christmas Day in UK, relative new-comer Matt Smith will then assume the role as the 11th incarnation.

Willem Dafoe is set to star opposite Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins in Walt Disney Pictures' fantasy epic John Carter of Mars, to be directed by Andrew Stanton.

Variety reports that Dafoe will take on the part of Tars Tarkas, a fierce green Martian warrior, who's unusual among his savage race for his ability to love. Tars develops an alliance with John Carter in the first film, which is based on "A Princess of Mars."

He fights battles alongside Carter throughout the entire series of Edgar Rice Burroughs books, so expect to see Dafoe in all the films.

Entertainment Weekly have posted the first look at Scarlett Johannson as Black Widow In 'Iron Man 2,' here are excerpts from the article in which Robert Downey Jr, and Kevin Feige talk about the upcoming sequel:

On one side is Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), a fast-talking weapons manufacturer who fancies himself the next Tony Stark; on the other, Vanko, who, while incarcerated in a Russian prison, creates his own battle-suit, which shoots devastating, whip-like beams. Hammer and Whiplash join forces to take down Downey’s character, Tony Stark. Rourke, for his part, wanted to instill some lightness into the role of the heavy. "I told Favreau, 'I don't want to just play him as a one-dimensional p----,'" he says. "He let me have a cockatoo, who I talk to and get drunk with while I’m making my suit."

Just as the deals were being hammered out, Terrence Howard -- who had played Stark’s best friend -- fell out of the sequel in a public salary dispute. The role was re-cast, with Don Cheadle stepping in. "We had to make some tough deals," says Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. "When they got public, you go, 'That sucks. Okay, you want a peek behind the curtain? Here you are!'" Says Cheadle, "Terrence and I couldn’t be more different. We address it head-on in the movie in one exchange. We're not trying to fool people." (Cheadle admits he didn’t know much about Marvel’s superhero before the first movie came out: "I always thought Iron Man was a robot.")

Adding more flesh and blood to the new movie, Scarlett Johansson joined the cast as Stark’s mysterious new assistant, Natasha, who has an alter ego of her own, Black Widow. That introduction inevitably sparks romantic tension between Stark and former assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), who’s been promoted to CEO of Stark Industries. "The men want it to be, like, 'Ooh, the girls are fighting over Tony,' but it's not as standard as that," says Paltrow. "There's a weird male catfight fantasy. Downey agrees. He believes what differentiates the franchise from other superhero series can be summarized as follows: "We're horny. Not, like, can't-bring-your-kids horny, but just…horny."

The question remains whether Iron Man 2 will soar like the first film or show signs of rust when it hits theaters. "People are going to be more critical," says Downey. "That’s their prerogative….In a way, there's no way to win, except to win. Big."
