Do you want to open a bank account in HDFC bank anywhere in India?

Well! I know your obvious answer would be Yes!

You can open an account in HDFC bank in just one hour, if you are really interested. It would not matter whether you are a student, a working employee or housewives. Anyone of you could open an account.

But before I tell you how you can open an account in HDFC, I want to narrate a story for all you guys.

In this story I will tell you what happened to me when I went HDFC bank to open an account for first time.

Actually I live in Mumbai, Goregaon East and I work for a company as a senior sales executive. I have been working as a sales executive for last 3 years.

Earlier I worked in Bangalore for at least one year. For me opening a bank account is not something new because I already had a bank account in State Bank of India (SBI).

So opening a bank account is not new as opened my first bank account during college days.

However, few days back I decided to open one more account in HDFC bank. HDFC is a good bank and you can access its ATM at any corner of the country.

But I had few problems before they opened my account in hdfc bank.

To understand the problem, first I will tell you the story.

I am living in Mumbai for few months only. After living in Bangalore for a year, I went to New Delhi, after working there for 2 years I came back to Mumbai.

And I am living in Mumbai for last 3 months. My bank account for State bank of India (SBI) is of New Delhi. It means the address mentioned in the pass book is of that city.

Hence, when I was trying to open a bank account in HDFC in Mumbai I had to give address proof of Mumbai only.

I was new here, and I really never had a address proof. So what I did is I gave them the passbook of SBI as my address proof.

The manager at HDFC said it is going to be OK if you have passbook of SBI with pan card.

So I thought now there will no problem to open an account in HDFC.

But there was a problem in the address given in Passbook. The manager told that the Pin Code was missing. Everything was there but not the pin code.

I requested the manager to overlook this issue and open an account but he refused to do so.

He asked me to get printed the Pin Code along with Seal and signature of SBI.

So next morning I went to SBI in Mumbai and asked to write the Pin Code below the address and give a seal with signature.

But, they refused to do so, giving reason that we are doing to do as you can do only in SBI branch in New Delhi. Here in Mumbai SBI cannot do it.

I requested them but they refused. I also showed them my check book where full address was printed with pin code. But they again refused simply saying we cannot do as we are not authorized for it.

So in the end, I have to get pin code written there with seal and signature of SBI from New Delhi only.

Thus, I do get pin code written there with seal and signature of SBI New Delhi while living in Mumbai?

I was very nervous because I my salary of that month would have been deposited in my HDFC account only by my company. And I could not get it opened.

Therefore, I got an idea that I will courier my passbook to New Delhi to my friend and he will get pin code written there with seal and signature of SBI branch. Then he will send back to me.

I will give this as a proof to HDFC manager and he will open my account. I thought now I will have a bank in HDFC.

Hence, I send my passbook to my friend in New Delhi through a courier. There were many courier services but I decided to go with DTDC because its office was very near to my home.

But again a problem are props-up. This time DTDC failed to deliver my courier to desired location.

My First Impression was Obama won. No! Seriously.

Abby cried when election campaign was going on. But now election is over and I am crying.

Well! The reason is very clear. Obama is re-elected. For me his re-election was like a nightmare. In fact, not just for me but for entire USA.

I was following election campaign very closely. Since he became president, I was confident that Obama is a one term president and he is not going to be re-elected again.

However, all our hopes were dashed when yesterday we saw him giving his victory speech. I do not understand why Mitt Romney was not able to pull out.

I totally believe, people are like sheep that followed Barack Obama. If speech is the only reason that led to Obama's victory then Hitler gave great speeches too.

I only remember Napoleon Bonaparte saying "I Remember When the People of France voted for me"

Hence, I do feel that Americans get carried away very easily. Obama is the proof that such a guy is re-elected.

Now, it is a matter of past, reality is that Obama is going to be our president for next 4 years. So, how Obama in the white house is going to hurt America.

~~For me it is not about the economy that the debt is $16 trillion!~~

~~For me it is not about the Unemployment Rate!~~

~~For me it is not about the Obama Health Care or Obama Care!~~

For me it is more about our fundamentals.

Dilution of Americanism

First is Identity. Well! We do not know whether Obama is a Christian or not. If he turns out to be a Muslim then this will be the biggest Con.

How come a Muslim can become president of USA? It would be diluting our Judea-Christian values.

We have to compromise our values.

For example, Wellesley, Massachusetts Public School Students Learn to Pray Allah.

This is what Obama wants our kids to do in school.

Republicans in Disarray

But personally for me, the greatest setback is that the republicans are in disarray. It seems that liberal propaganda is succeeding and conservatives are losing.

Some how republicans have to put their acts together and get back America from these liberal scums.

Foreign Policy

Obama has no strategy to deal with Iran's nuclear ambition. I do not think he is going to destroy Iran's nuclear weapon. So there could be a war between Israel and Iran. And that is dangerous.

For me Iran and Israel war could be a nuclear one. Do you want to see a nuclear war?

Internal Security

Well! Failure in foreign policy has direct implications on our Internal or homeland security. If Obama fails aboard then it will be difficult to protect citizens at home.

Obama is too apologetic and I do not see courage in him to take on terrorist who want to kill Americans.

Legacy he will Leave

Lastly, the legacy that Obama is going to leave is not good for America. Obama only knows to apologise. Because of him today America is not respected in the world.

So I am very much concerned about the legacy that he will leave.

We can only hope that our next president would be a republican who can make us all proud to be an American.

Well! In America we all are crazy about Justin Bieber. We all love him, in fact we follow me like anything. I wanna say their is no limit for madness when it comes to Justin Bieber.

However, other night I watched a video on YouTube regarding him. I was forced to believe that Justin a Pedophile.

Yes! I do believe that he is a Pedophile!

But why?

Well! I know from closed sources that Bieber is probably a gay. Now, gay has two meanings. One means a happy person and second means a homosexual. I am talking of latter meaning.

After watching this video now I am pretty much sure Bieber is a Pedophile too.

I can read a person's mind from his or her body language. For me it is enough to understand.

Here I am not attacking an individual but my concern is about this entire celebrity lot. In fact, I should say So Called Celebrities!

These celebrities are controlling our consciousness. We want to imitate them and do things that they do. This is pure Narcissism.

Who actually makes them celebrities. Yes! It is we the people.

We have to come out of this mania. I do hope the younger generation and parents would like to see this world from a different point of view.

Today, world is changing very fast and we are losing for sure. If we want to become relevant again in this ever changing world then we have to get inspired by people like Einstein and Newton.

Still a lot depends upon parents till children comes of their age. It is advised that they should protect their children from this mania.

We know that only FaceBook has over 500+ million users in US and worldwide. As days are passing more and more people are joining other social networking sites similar to FaceBook. It is directly impacting the present and future of the local commerce. Apple In Trouble Again

Motorola is suing Apple for its patent infringement (18 patents). Early Apple had to pay $625 million to Mirror World for patent violation. But this time Motorola patent infringement complaint is of very serious nature. Here goes the list of infringements done by Apple that Motorola claims.

1. Apple’s product like iPhone, iPad, iTouch and Mac computers infringed Motorola patents.

2. Also infringement of Apple’s services like MobileMe and App Store. In addition to this wireless communication technology and antenna design.

3. Smartphone technologies including wireless email, location based services, software app management etc.

Moreover, Motorola has requested ITC to issue an Exclusion order barring Apple from selling infringed products (iPhone, iPad etc) and also halting the marketing, advertising, demonstration and warehousing of these products.

MyTake: Now Apple is a company worth $47 billion and about 70% to 80% of its revenue comes from these infringed products. So if courts found that Apple indeed violated all the patents (or some) as claimed by Motorola then I wonder what will be left with Apple Inc?

MyTake: As I pointed out early in my blog post that the remote of Google TV is cluttered with buttons and to top it all, the Logitech controllers are too complicated. I would like to enjoy pure passive TV experience without these hell lots of devices. With a keyboard, controller and 2 remote controls (HDTV and Google TV) perhaps I can fly an airplane.

Hey! FaceBook is overhauling its group feature entirely. The new group feature will cover all the aspects of social networking. Communicating with different groups, context of the messages and privacy of our data everything has been taken care of. Here is the walk through of important features.

- Create many groups and set it Open, Closed or Secret (As you like it).

- Name your groups and recognize them easily with assigning an icon to it (I like this!)

- Each group will have an email address.

- Upload group profile picture and let your friends post on the wall.

Twitter has made substantial change to its search backend. The new search architecture will make the index bigger without making the searches slower. We know that Twitter also sends data to Google and Bing and want to move closer to them.

MyTake: There are 1000 tweets send per second and 12,000 queries per second (1 billion per day queries) on Twitter; this is enough to understand that the Twitter is still relevant and hence monetizing it‘s search backend.

Google presented its latest creation Google TV. You can watch anything of your choice on it. Type your favorite show and the Google TV will present you with best options that it finds from local listings, Netflix, Amazon video etc. It can also be integrated with Dish network service. Moreover you can surf the web with Google Chrome browser. However the flip side of Google TV is that it’s remote is cluttered with too many buttons. So let’s wait for the Google TV.

MyTake: My TV and cable box already have too many buttons yet I can tolerate Google TV’s remote however what I cannot tolerate is, if Google TV is solely oriented to be like a search engine so that Google can generate extra revenue from the searches.

Is Google Android For Nokia?

Google CEO Eric Schmidt discussed possibility of Android running on Nokia phones with Nokia CEO Stephen Elop. Right now Nokia is going haywire as yet another executive in charge of MeeGo devices resigned last week (3^rd in a row). Can Nokia move beyond Symbian OS to go with Android OS?

MyTake: Even if Nokia wants to go with Android the big brother Microsoft won’t allow this because Microsoft is suing everyone who tries to use Android without licensing its patent.

Windows 7 Tablets For Christmas?

Windows 7 tablets will be coming on this Christmas. It will also have touch optimization by the next year. The earlier HP Slate which runs on Windows 7 was a big flop as the device struggled with the OS. So let’s see how the new Windows 7 tablets can compete with Apple’s iPad. (iPad is selling 5 millions unit a quarter)

MyTake: According to my information the sharp drop in Microsoft’s stock price and the pressure from shareholders may have led Microsoft to expand its offering so quickly. Because I don’t think Windows 7 tablet is yet ready as a product.

Death Of IE

Remembers the days when we have to use Internet Explorer (IE) the only web browser available. The latest version IE 8 is dying as its global share is now less than 50%. Microsoft tried its best to keep pace with the other competing browsers but browsers like Opera, Chrome, Safari and Firefox had outclassed the IE. Now a day’s users have choice to choose the best one.

MyTake: If we notice not just web browsers however for every product or commodity the users have a choice. Whether it’s an electronic appliance, car, house or an Internet service provider there are so many players. Ultimately end user is the winner.

FaceBook Redesign

FaceBook is revamping its user interface. Few weeks back twitter did the same thing. FaceBook wants to give better look and feel to the users. This attempt will allow users to spend more time on the site. Here are the few changes that are going to be.

1. New version of chat and it will be now on the left side of the screen.

2. Profile pictures are added into the chat.

3. Profile pages will look like Places pages.

4. Apps are going to be moved below profile pictures as icons.

5. Profile navigation will reside in that area meaning no top tabs on profile pages.

MyTake: One can make out that the entire UI is going to be altered. However, for me it is like “Old wine with a new label” because FaceBook is just tweaking here and there. If you notice carefully they are not adding any NEW feature. So better FaceBook comes up with new ideas!

Zuckerburg And “Like” Button

The Hollywood movie “The Social Network” is doing well on the box office. I also liked the movie and I found a common thing about the FaceBook founder Mark Zuckerburg and the FaceBook’s “Like” button.

In the movie Zuckerburg was alleged for stealing the idea of FaceBook from twin brothers Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss just like Friendfeed claims that the “Like” button is actually there idea. That’s interesting.

MyTake: Whether it is twin brothers or Friendfeed merely conceiving an idea takes you nowhere unless you are able to implement the idea according to the real world. Therefore Zuckerburg is the winner.

Yesterday, location based mobile service Foursquare went down for 11 hours. At least 3 million users (including me) of Foursquare were affected with this downtime. The site crashed but the no data was lost. To learn more I visited the Foursquare blog and there they added more agony by giving technical arguments which are beyond our comprehension.

MyTake: 11 hours downtime is a long time and Foursquare has only 32 employees working. Then how would you expect that there response and communication will be good enough?

Apple Pays $600 million

East Texas federal court found Apple infringing three patents the Cover Flow, Time Machine and Spotlight. For this Apple has to pay about $625 million to the Mirror Worlds. Mirror Worlds alleged Apple saying “violations were found to be willful rather than unintentional”.

MyTake: $625 million is going to be the largest amount paid in US legal history. I think this will set a precedent for big companies like Apple not to bully small companies like Mirror Worlds.

Goggles Comes To iPhone

Like Android now iPhone users can utilize Google’s Goggles visual search feature as part of Google Mobile App. However feature works on version 4.0 of the iPhone’s operating system with iPhone4 (only models that have auto focusing cameras).

MyTake: Microsoft released visual search in its Bing iPhone application in June this year, and hence I wonder what Google was doing until now to launch Goggles to the iPhone.

For Me Or Big Corporations?

Twitter desperate to generate revenue will be launching its new service “Promoted Accounts” very soon. This service can be used by the both big corporations and individuals.

Corporations: Companies can promote their brands by increasing their twitter following. These brands will be recommended by twitter to people like us in its feature “Who to follow”.

Individuals: Now we can also buy followers to increase following by paying (fees not yet disclosed) to twitter.

MyTake: For two very simple reasons this so called new service is more for big corporations then individuals like you and me.

1. It is purely going to benefit advertisers and companies. On the other hand we the people will be bombarded with recommendations and suggestions by twitter to follow these companies whether you like it or not. Hence we will not be able to follow trends that are hot and happening recommended by the twitter itself.

2. I am amused to hear that even we can buy followers. Well! I do not have spare cash to buy them for no good reason. Do you have?

Apple TV: Either TV or A Computer

Earlier this month while introducing Apple TV Steve Jobs said “don’t want a computer on their TV”. Which means Apple TV will be free from app store, games and web browser. So it will be just a TV free from computer.

MyTake: I don’t trust Steve jobs because he does exactly opposite to what he says. I can recall two such instances.

1. iPhone was also launched without apps.

2. First he laughed on e books and later launches iBooks store.

It’s Party Time!

European Union closed its investigation on Apple’s restriction on interpreted code that prevented developers from using tools that can make their apps available on various platforms.

MyTake: Hence Apple will continue to have control on the interpreted code. The developers have to completely rely on Apple to grant them access to the codes and Apple will have its apps running on various platforms. Apple will do anything to make profit!

BLACKBERRY PLAYBOOK

Does iPad will become irrelevant? This is a million dollar question that people are asking, as RIM unveiled 7 inch tablet BlackBerry Playbook. It is described as “First Professional Tablet” with complete access to the web. It has all the features that I can imagine.

Symmetric Processing
1 GHz dual core processor and 1 GB RAM.
DUAL HD Cameras, Video & Audio Playback.
Wi-Fi , Bluetooth and connectors
And BLA BLA BLA! I mean every other feature that one can think about.

MyTake: I wonder this will not only kill the iPad but also change the entire web experience. I will surely want to have one when it arrives in market in early 2011. However 2 things that are still not clear are

1. The Rate:If rate is too high then the iPads will still be relevant.

2. The Battery:Nothing has been said about the battery life.

“Like” Button

Thumbs Up! Yes I am talking about the “Like” button of FaceBook which was released in April. From now on the button will be loaded with three new features.

1. Like items in the apps – Now you are able to dig into applications and like elements in it (earlier you could like application only).

2. Link “Like” button to pages – In simple words this means that I can create a “Like” button for my blog and include it on another blog or website.

3. Choose Layout for “Like” button – “Box count” layout shows the number of likes above the button.

MyTake: These new features means very little to me. Why? Well in the end people will like your blog or article only when they enjoy reading it so if the blog or article is boring then these features will of no use.

Guidelines To App Developers

Apple released guidelines for application developers to understand them even better. There are about 250,000 apps. Good thing is that it eases developer license agreements on use of third party development tools for creating apps for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

MyTake: 250,000 apps are already more than enough for us. This guideline rejects fart apps which are cobbled together in few days.So no need to suffer apps that contains bugs and finally crashes.

Losers!

It seems Google is loosing on every front. Americans prefer to use FaceBook for socializing then searching on Google. According to rough estimates last month people spent 41.1 billion minutes on FaceBook compared to 39 billion minutes on Google. In addition to this YouTube is still not profitable as Google wanted to be.

MyTake: People will continue to use Google for searching information. Let’s hope Google’s new release "Google Instant" may come to their rescue.

Google Instant

Google introduced the new search service called as Google Instant. How does it differ from Google’s current search service? Is this really something or just a gimmick? Here I summarize about the Google Instant.

You get live search suggestions as you type out a query. This means that until now Google was providing a list of keywords when you typed something in the search box but now on the site itself displays a live updated results page.

MyTake: We know that Google’s two third of revenue comes from organic search advertising (Adwords). Hence Google may want to redefine the online searching to get more profit through advertising. Let us see whether this will be a great hit or a flop like Apple’s ping?

Apple’s iPhone 4 Woes

Until now Apple was quite reluctant to listen the agony of iPhone 4 users, but only after loosing 20% of sales in US they are willing to acknowledge the problem. I and my friends do use iPhone 4 and we have two major issues with it.

1.The Antenna – I personally don’t like the antenna’s design at all. It is weird and uneasy to use.

2.Carrier – How come iPhone 4 is only available on AT&T? I would like to switch my carrier from AT&T to Verizon if it is available on it.

MyTake: I think Apple do realize there losses but actually iPhone is selling like crazy in international market (11 million for this quarter). And that is what making them to feel SMUG!

Lady’s and Gentlemen here comes the 4.1 update for mobile operating system. It is loaded with Game Center social hub for multiplayer game fans. The Game Center has special features like

Microsoft will launch Xbox 360 bundle in November of this year. Xbox 360 will have all the features that Microsoft promised 5 years back in 2005. Here are some of the salient features that I found.

1. Very frugal motherboard and an integrated CPU/GPU/eDRAM chip.

2. Paired with Newly integrated 802.11n console, USB 2.0 ports and a built optical audio port.

3. 250 GB of hard drive (proprietary), slimmer chassis, touch - sensitive power and eject buttons.

Let’s hope that Microsoft is able to deliver on their promise!

MyTake: Above mentioned features are quite impressive. However there is no incentive to upgrade if you already have an Xbox 360 (Like I Have One). So you have to pay $399. Folks! I wish to continue gaming with my present Xbox 360, it is unwise to spend another $399. I had enough of Xbox gaming!

Apple User’s Only

For the first time you can watch apple event (happening today) live only on your iPhone, iPad or iPod (anything of Apple). I apologize in advance to all Windows users because event can be seen by Mac users only. Earlier Apple never had such a type of function. So Windows users are not welcomed!

My Take: I think Apple is very loyal to its users hence all the Windows users like me are not privileged to watch the event. So Mean!!!

Apple flirting Netflix

In the event Apple will also announce that the Apple TV users will now have access to Netflix streaming video.

My Take: Actually Apple is promoting there Apple TV (also known as iTV) by using the popularity of Netflix. Apple do realize that the presence of Netflix in every living room.

So it is Apple who is desperate for Netflix not vice versa. As Netflix already had partners like Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony’s playstation, Blu-ray players etc.

My warning to Netflix is that once Apple got the users, few devices and content providers then in their typical way they will start squeezing out Netflix. So Netflix be careful.

Attention FaceBook!

In the same event Apple may introduce a new social gaming network for iOS apps. The great thing is that this social network is built right into the OS therefore can be adopted universally. It challenges not just to FaceBook but also to Android and MS Windows Phone 7.

My Take: FaceBook is going to stay here for a long time. This is not the first time that someone is trying to kill FaceBook partly or completely. Even Google tried this before by creating social applications but we all know that it was a great flop show!

Microsoft Wireless Xbox 360 Controller

Thank God at last Microsoft is launching Wireless Xbox 360 controller in November for $64.99. If I do not sound harsh the D pad I am using currently on the existing 360 controllers is completely Trash. Now with this new controller I can fully enjoy the street fighting games.

But ironically even after that you will be surprised to know that FaceBook will have the maximum visitors surpassing Yahoo and then Google in coming days. You may have come across petty quarrels between individuals in your day to day life. However a week before the news of tussle between Google and Oracle came into the limelight. After getting into the details I must say that this is not just a spat between two multi billion dollar corporations but something more than that.

Actually the story goes like this; Oracle sues Google over the use of Java platform in developing Android. For common internet users like you and I Java software platform belongs to Oracle (Oracle purchased from Sun Microsystems) and Android an operating system for mobile services belongs to Google. Now Oracle is pissed off by the use of java software development kit by the Google.

So what is that the internet users can learn from it? Well if Google is a search engine giant for the information then Oracle is the backbone of database management systems used in almost every single organization. Both of these companies develop cutting edge technologies.

Interestingly, we depend heavily on Google for searching information on daily basis. So the use of Google is quite apparent however people appreciate the importance of Google but they tend to forget and underestimate the contribution of Oracle. Because the technologies developed by Oracle is used by Google and it functions behind the scenes. Therefore both of them count for internet users.

Another interesting thing that we have to note is that the unlimited power of search engines. Why I say so? The reason is that the Google has complete control to block the search results for Oracle whenever someone is searching about them. For instance about 8 million people around the world daily search for Oracle. Hence if Google blocks the search results for oracle even for one week then it is going to hurt Oracle very badly.

From the point above what internet users can also learn is that Google can block not just Oracle but can also stop indexing the websites of individuals (called webmasters) in their search results. But I believe Google will be reluctant to do so because in a long run people may start doubting its credibility. But on the other had even Google depends upon technologies developed by Oracle and its subsidiaries. Actually both Google and Oracle are indispensible to each other.

Therefore in the end I would say that internet users to some extent are affected by the tussle between two giants. I hope that the both companies are able to solve their differences because in today’s world we all depend on each other.

Podcasting is basically a communication tool with which you can share voice (audio or video) over internet rather than just plain text. These audio and video files generally known as podcasts are distributed to computers and portable media players. Podcasts can be streamed directly on internet. So there is no need to download them as files.

After reading introduction the obvious question that might come to your mind is that “Is Podcasting for you?” Well I can give you four reasons to go for it.

Communication –If you want to share an idea to the world then the podcast will help you to communicate directly with your listeners. This was not possible until now. So you get a chance to know your audience much better.
Traffic – Podcasting has much greater reach than websites and blogs combined together. People are more addicted to listening audios and with time they will become your loyal customers.
