FILM MAKERS CONFERENCE

The Nollywood Film Makers Conference is aimed at young Talents and those who wish to work in the Nigerian Film Industry. Through research, interaction and experience, it has been discovered that many young talents do not even know/understand anything about the industry and how to succeed in it; they are passionate, but lack access to basic information to help them succeed in their chosen field. The conference will help to educate young talents in the basics of every segment of the film industry. This will provide them with the needed information they’ve been lacking.

Young/upcoming talents have suffered the most in the industry, as there is little or no information and resources available to assist/guide them in their quest to succeed in the industry. They have been exploited by some unscrupulous persons due to lack of exposure and access to relevant information and resources.

The conference will feature working industry professionals and keynote speakers who will speak on The Nollywood, Film Making Business, Screenwriting, Directing, Production Management, Contracts and Intellectual Property Law, Theatrical Film Distribution, and The Role of Social Media in the New Nollywood. These speakers will inspire, encourage, and expose attendants to information and resources needed to succeed in the evolving industry.

Inspiration alone is never enough to achieve desired change, most events are geared towards inspiring participants and the usual result is that enthusiasm amongst the participants fizzles out shortly after the event. The NOLLY Film Makers Conference will provide participants with needed information and instructions that will clearly point out key knowledge areas, needed skills and desirable attitudes that will set them.

LAST NIGHT.

It was only the 3^rd round and I already felt my bones were too weak to continue. We still had four more rounds to go, but I wasn’t sure I could wait to see the last bout. I had been lying in the sofa with my eyes glued to the TV set, waiting for that moment when Thomas would be declared the winner. He has always been my favourite boxer, and this night he was fighting for the heavyweight championship.

Suddenly I saw it coming, and like a splash Johnson was squealing on the floor of the ring, the low jab from Thomas was so hard that even Mohammed Ali would have fallen for it.

Is this bout going to end in a knockout? I wondered, as the umpire counted 4…5…6…7… The excitement was already building and I can see the smile on Thomas’s face. Suddenly Johnson moved and gradually he got back to his feet. He fought hard, and to the amazement of all, he clinched the title in the 7^th round, after he left Thomas sprawling on the floor from a fast upper cut.

Thomas lost lots of his fans after that night. According to him, he thought it was all over in the 3^rd round; he thought he had already won, but he eventually lost.

After listening to his loser’s speech that night, I realized I was still far from my destiny, no matter the lot I might have achieved so far, I can still be toppled. The fight made me understand that being better is of no use, if I can be the best.

THIS IS WHERE I WAS BORN.

This is where I was born, it was already pretty bad news, and then they built a wall around this when I was 18years old. Did I do anything to deserve that punishment? No. I respected every law to the letter. And I didn’t quit school in 9^th grade to sell crack, it’s because they closed the school down. The only thing I ever did wrong was getting born here.

Who do I blame? The man and woman I call my parents, was it their fault? Were they part of the decayed government? I wonder how little we have become in the eyes of those who promised us heaven before we voted them in. Instead of the heaven they promised, they increased the fire of the hell we now find ourselves.

I have got to endure the suffering that has now become a habit. They never gave us schools but they expect us to be the better leaders of tomorrow that might never come; they didn’t give us jobs, yet they expect us to quit our lucrative business of dope. How can we quit, when they even patronize us. Why place a ban on dope, if you can’t quit smoking. Who is fooling who?

“Smokers are liable to die young” that’s what they tell us, yet they ship the sticks in. They send us to jail for the possession of firearms they gave us during their frivolous campaigns. They train us, and use us during campaigns, and expect us to forget all we have learnt after the elections. How can we? We are not that daft, we still retain their lessons on assassination, kidnapping, robbery and lots more. How can a teacher expect his student to forget all he has learnt? We are just being attentive students, thereby making our teachers proud.

They send their black thugs after us, and when the black ones fail, they release the green boss, and without mercy they jump into our streets, killing our innocents, raping our girls, while we watch them in shame. If we raise complaints, they array us before the bar, where their white caps give us a list of offences, and without fair trial, we are let down the rail road with long sentences.

LOCAL BOY

From the slums of the darkest street to the lights of the brightest city, he always had to fight; a fight for freedom, and quest for stardom.

Like the local gin, he pierced the hearts of many with his attitudes. His parents would stay awake till 11p.m waiting for their local son to return home. His only excuse for staying out late was “hustle”.

Having known the taste of poverty, he wished to sip the wine of wealth, but no one gave him a glass. All he could do was sit around and wait. But when glasses never came, and the wine was going down, he had to grab the bottle for a gulp.

Each day he had 24miles to travel, and each year he had 365 mysteries to unravel. His life was a gridlock of opportunities and disappointments.

He never gave up on the girl that called him a “local boy”, or the man that called him a “failure”. He knew he was bigger than what they saw, and he struggled to break out.

He was bounced at the gates, slept in studios, managed one shirt and trouser, all in the name of hustle. He did all this to get to the limelight.

Funny enough, his parents were not his best friends, because he chose a different dream from what they had for their local son. They wanted him in Suit and Tie, but he preferred Fez Caps and Jimmy Boots.

The street became the only friend he could run to, and he was gladly accepted. He fought hard on the line, just to break bread before the time; he never gave in to side attractions. He aimed for the sky, and the street was the inspiration that made him high.

He didn’t only dream big, he also created a link. He could no longer wait for the key of success to be tossed to him, so he had to break in. like a volcano, he shattered the rock of failure.

Today, the girl that once called him a “local boy”, now wish to have his autograph. The man that once saw him as a failure now chose him as a role model for his son.

Amidst all his achievements, his parents still saw him as their local son. To them he was just a local boy with an international dream. They believe he was the local boy that got the best from his locality.

LETTER TO MY FELLOW STUDENTS:

It’s more than four months and we are still sitting silently in this dungeon, like a patient waiting helplessly for the sharp blade of the knife of the surgeon. We have been help against our will, as captives of a decayed academic structure.

What is rightfully ours have been forcefully taken from us. We have been denied our mental food; our limbs are now too weak to fight back.

The infamous Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is gradually digging the foundation of our future (education), and has left us in the bitter experience of psychosomatic trauma. In a bid to salvage the academic structure, they are gradually unearthing the foundation of those structures.

Our education sector is now a victim of the whims and caprice of politics. This strike is a typical solecism of our lettered professors. Their much vaunted academic prowess has been put to question, following their recent actions.

We have heard and received a lot of canards with regards to the strike. But the truth is that we are not going back to school anytime soon. the last NEC meeting held on Saturday 23rd November 2013, was just another of those meeting held, merely to waste time and to fulfill all righteousness, as no conclusions were reached. While 60% of the academic gurus agitated for a call off, the rest were praying for a probe into the death of their colleague who they claimed was assassinated, and so the strike can go on.

It is our belief that one day we shall be free from the mental torture and inhumane treatment meted on us by our captors (ASUU). This is a battle for our right and we must fight to any height.

Ø Those agitating for the total cancellation of Anambra guber elections are indirectly advocating for the extension of Gov Obi's tenure. if it took INEC more than 1 year to prepare and organize an election that will later be cancelled due to incompetence, how long does one think it will take them to prepare and organize an election that will later be upheld. Probably this time it will take 2 or more years, thereby extending Obi's tenure which has barely few months to lapse.

Ø Hon. Uche Ekwunife should be ashamed of her recent political actions. During the campaign she was one of the APGA stalwarts that raised Obiano's hand and declared him the best candidate for Anambra. How come she's now going to court to contest Obiano's legibility to contest? She probably thinks that the events of Rivers state, (where Omehia won and Rotimi took over six months later, after Omehia's legibility was contested and won in court) would happen in Anambra. Her political advisors, if she has any, should wake her from this pipe dream. She should have a better dream than that of becoming a Governor in 2014.

Ø Without being bias, I think this ASUU strike is becoming one of those dirty games of politics. They now claim that their dead colleague was assassinated, and so the mystery behind his death should be unraveled before they can call off the strike. They also want the President to pay them the 4months salary that was held during the time of their strike. Who is fooling who? Have we forgotten the saying: "no work, no pay"? You leave your work place for 4months in the name of strike, and expect salary for those months. I seriously think that all those professors need a therapy to evaluate their mental proficiency, because they are recently behaving like retards.

MIRROR OF LIFE.

Each time I look into the mirror, I have three questions in mind. Do I see who I was? Do I see who I am? Or do I see who I want to be? Unfortunately, there is no one around to answer these questions but myself.

I have lied to myself most times. I have always thought that I am better than the drug addict that smokes hemp in the bush behind my house; I have thought myself to be better than the derelict that sleeps in the street; I have thought myself to be better than the drop-out who now uses the trigger to earn a living. Maybe I have been wrong all this while.

Looking at the mirror this morning, I saw a shadow, a shadow I have thought for so long to be myself; A shadow that bears the exterior and not my interior resemblance. For how long have I lived in ignorance. How long have I ignored my mistakes because no one was there to see them?

What is the difference between me and the drug addict or the derelict across the street? They all made mistakes like I did, but people never saw mine like they saw theirs.

I have tried enough living in a borrowed world and covering my mistakes in ignorance.

Could this be my past haunting me, or are my being taunted by the image on the broken mirror. Who do I really see in this mirror?

I might have made mistakes in the past, but now I have to correct them, or join the long queue on the line of doom.

Most times in life we think we are better than others, but if we could take a closer look in the mirror of our life, we might see ourselves drowning with others.

Change is not far from the moment when you looked into that mirror. You might not be close to where it started, but if you try, you might be close to where it ends. A decision is taken in a moment, and that moment can change a life.

ASUU STRIKE: A HOSTAGE SITUATION

The problem with ASUU and the government is that they don’t understand. They don’t care to know where the students stand. They have been throwing these stones at each other for so long, without caring about who gets caught in the middle.

Gradually, days run into weeks, months run into years and nobody cares. In a bid to salvage the academic structures of the country, they are gradually unearthing the pillars of these structures.

What has the death of a man got to do with millions of lives at stake? Why not accord the dead respect with a minute silence or maybe an hour silence or even more, as they may prefer? But no! ASUU chose to postpone a crucial meeting that would decide the fate of Millions of Nigerian Students in order to mourn a dead colleague for seven days.

I have wondered: what if this man never died? What if he was in coma? I bet ASUU would have told the students to wait till he is out of coma, before anything could be said about the 4 month old strike.

This strike is gradually becoming a hostage situation. ASUU is the hostile, students, parents government and the entire Education Sector is the hostages. What ransom will be due for ASUU to release the education sector from this hostage situation?

I thought the grey hairs of these professors were insignias of wisdom, but their recent actions have made me wonder if these hairs were bleached. Where they should have fought with wisdom of their grey hairs, they have fumbled with dirt in their bare hands.

This is a breach to our Human rights. We are entitled to sound education, but ASUU have denied us this entitlement, with their subterfuge to hold on the strike. It is high time we demanded justice.

If we don’t rise up to the situation and tackle this problem with both hands, then we might be using those hands to bury more dead bodies and probably mourn them for the rest of our lives.

Woman gives birth on board Arik Flight enrout to London.makes emergency landing in Spain.

According to Thisday newspaper,

An Arik Air flight with over 100 passengers en route to London Sunday was forced to make an emergency landing in Palmas, Spain, as a woman went into labour and gave birth while the aircraft was airborne.

The pilot was said to have requested the emergency landing on the advice of two doctors who were on board the aircraft and had helped the mother deliver the baby.
When the passenger went into labour, the cabin crew asked that doctors on board the flight to identify themselves. Following the announcement, two of the passengers came forward, saying they were doctors and assisted in the delivery of the baby.
Normally, a source disclosed that in the few instances where women have given birth on board, the aircraft would continue its flight to its final destination. However, the Arik flight was forced to make an emergency landing following the advice of the doctors that the woman was bleeding excessively - she was said to have experienced excessive hemorrhaging, necessitating the emergency landing.
At the time of this report, both mother and child were said to have been stable but were left behind in Palmas for monitoring by medical personnel, while the flight continued on its journey to London.

The airline was trying to ascertain if the woman had presented a false medical report from her doctor on the true duration of her pregnancy or she had gone into premature labour while on board the flight.

Women with full term pregnancies are not allowed to travel by air, according to International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) regulations. As such, intending pregnant passengers are required to present medical reports certifying that they are less than 32 weeks pregnant before they are allowed to fly.

A source said the airline was carrying out a full-scale investigation to ascertain the genuineness of the medical report presented by the woman.

Arik Air’s management said yesterday that if it is discovered that the woman was given a false report to enable her fly, it would file a special complaint against the doctor who had issued the medical report to the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) for endangering her life and that of the baby, as well that of other passengers on board the flight.

It is not a battle, but it is very fierce. The game of love, a game where trust is a big question. A game of two halves of love and lust, whichever you decide to play in, is at your own cost.

In this game you are regarded as the best player, if you are able to dribble as many chics as you want without scoring a goal; only then can you be awarded with the infamous award “PLAYBOY”. In this game the word mercy exists only at the back page or not at all; on the cover page, you will find the word FUN boldly written.

“Messilessly” the guys dribble the chics and “Ramosly” the chics try to stop their amorous advances. In this game, you don’t have or need a Howard Webb to be fair in officiating the game. Ironically there are no rules in this game, you either kick or be kicked; it is a free for all game. Interestingly some decide to stand on the lines and remain spectators.

The only match fixing ever witnessed in the game of love is gossip. This crime is more rampant with the chics, and the Supreme governing body of this game, “Free Independent Flirts Association (FIFA)”, is trying to curtail the fixing.

The game is an open transfer market, but here you don’t buy or sell; you just steal the player that has the money bag or beauty packs, not minding if your best friend is the manager of the player.

One funny thing about this game is that it is always in session and unlike other types of games where fatigue is an excuse, here fatigue is a sickness and all players are always in form.

As a guy that wants to join this game, money must be ringing bell in your pockets, because that’s the only socket that gives a girl wireless connection.

As a girl that wants to join the game, in order to appear more appetizing in the transfer market, you can colonise two different countries (Brazil & Nigeria) on your hair, and maybe call it “BRAGERIAN HAIR”. It doesn’t matter, if you paint yourself into a modern masquerade, because no guy will play if you are not… Don’t forget to polish your English and fine tune your voice, because guys are tired of hearing “I’m Brushing” instead of “I’m Blushing”.

If you want to be a spectator, fine! Funny enough, there are no gate fees, but don’t indulge in match fixing. And be careful, the goals that are not scored on the field of play can be scored at the viewing points.

PEACEFUL DIVORCE.

Unlike other divorce where either party seek parting shots in courts, either requesting for the custody of the kids or half of the wealth, the special one was given a peaceful divorce, after he refused to settle the dust he raised at Bernabau.

With a lot of trophies to his CV, he is always an august visitor wherever he goes, and every husband clamour to have him as wife.

One thing must not be left unsaid about the special one. In most of the contract marriages in which he had either served or was served the divorce, he has always left such marriages with unending nemesis for such husbands. Recounting just but a few, the bridge at Stamford collapsed after he left in 2007. Inter Milan enjoyed the child of his marriage with them, when they lifted the Champions League in 2010, but they have since, remained impotent after he served them a divorce that same year. Real Madrid is already suffering the nemesis of his existence at Bernabau.

With all these rooms in the columns of his CV, one begins to wonder what change he will bring to his new husband Chelsea, and what will be the aftermath of his departure. It must be noted that this will be the second time this couple are getting married.

It has been a lot of mutual divorce, Benitez, though hated by his husband Chelsea, wasn’t a barren wife after all. He gave birth to a Europa Cup, and a Champions League ticket, amidst the curses and boos from the fans, who served him with dirt throughout his stay, even on the night of his delivery, he wasn’t spared. He was eventually served the divorce, after fulfilling his promises to his husband.

I wonder what will be the fate of Man. United after its beloved wife left the scene in a shocking retirement. Though a new wife had been acquired, one still wonders what will be the fate of this new marriage.

It is still uncertain, what Arsene Wenger will be telling his husband, after 8years of barrenness and late miscarriages of Champions league qualification. I bet his marriage contract is either been reviewed or he has a plan on selling another of his oldest sons.

With all these and more divorce been recorded in football, it is now safe to state that soccer is one of such marriages that needs a contractual agreement.

We happily welcome our newly married wives, and wish them the best as we wait for the honeymoon that will be kicking off sometime in August.

Faced with continued investor skepticism over its long-term business model, Facebook has quietly started testing a new way of generating additional revenue - charging money to delete old photos.

The new settings, which are currently in beta, ask users to pay $5.00 to delete any photo more than 1 year old from their own Facebook profiles, and up to $20.00 to delete photos of themselves on other people's profiles.

Analysts say that Facebook could generate huge revenues from the new photo settings because many users are desperate to hide embarrassing pictures of themselves from family and potential employers.

Topher Anderson, a technology equities analyst at Citigroup says the new charges could single-handedly help Facebook's sagging stock price recover to its IPO level of $40 a share.

"This new photo fee is a stroke of genius," claims Anderson, "We estimate that over 50 million users will use the feature, spending on average $35 a year to delete the most embarrassing pics. The annual boost to Facebook's top line will be well over $1 billion."

Few days ago NASA announced that its Curiosity Rover has found an unambiguous message from God written on tablets in a Martian cave.

According to an official press release, two giant stone slabs the size of small elephants were located deep inside a cavern abutting Aeolis Mons, a large mountain.

Upon one tablet is a copy of the Ten Commandments and the text of John 3:16 written in 12 languages - including English, Spanish, Chinese, Basque and Hebrew. On the other tablet is a simple message in English reading "I am real."

According to top scientists who have studied the discovery extensively, these findings may have definitively established Christianity as the one true religion.

"This is amazing," says Syms Covington, an Australian researcher working for NASA's Mars Exploration Program. "We went into the cave looking for water, and we found proof of God's existence instead.

"I mean how else did those tablets get there? I can tell you one thing: there's not a single atheist inside NASA's control room now. What we saw was jaw-dropping."

NASA's Curiosity rover arrived on Mars in August of last year with a mission to explore the Martian climate and geology for signs for habitability.

Thus far the mission has been a success, with the discovery of an ancient seabed and chemicals needed for life suggesting that Mars was once suitable for life.

However the tablets, both of which are signed "Peace and Love - Yahweh," represent the rover's most significant find to date, and is perhaps the most important scientific event in history.

"When people find out about this, they will demand change in our society," explains a political scientist at Georgetown University. "Democracy will have to give way to theocracy. We're gonna have to build more churches and reintroduce prayer into schools. Abortion is defiantly going to be illegal within a few months."

Despite its potential significance, Covington fears that the Earth-shattering discovery may not make the impact it should.

"Unfortunately, the mainstream media is so anti-Christian, they might not even pick up this story," he explains. "But God is real. We have proof. And everyone deserves to hear the truth."

As many artistes, both upcoming and ‘Celebs’ are making beats and hits in the music industry, I have sat with my hands on my chin to think of some ironies in this prestigious industry of ours. My usual curiosity led me to observe that some big names we shouted so loud, have tuned so low, that we now mention them in whispers.

First on my list of missing names is my cool, crazy friend,

CHUDDY K: - He sent us crazy with that gaga hit that cruised about in night clubs and parties. Most of us questioned the lyrical content of such song, but who cares, so long as you can move your body and girls move their waist to the beat, the lyrics can be buried somewhere. His entrance in the industry that year got him a credible landmark, as he won the best street pop for that year. But I have come to notice that this dude, whose song, Disc Jockeys pounded in every night party, have either gone missing or changed occupation. Ever since he gave us that costly Brazilian hair, not much has been heard of him. Probably the Brazilian hair was so costly that he spent all his talent to purchase it. His managers at YQN should have informed him that a cheap ‘weavon’ would have done more good in keeping him on track. Please if you should meet my missing friend anywhere, help me tell him that the Brazilian hair he gave us is overdue, and now old. We need a new hairdo, this time a better one that won’t make us gaga crazy.

MISH: - He loves home so much, that he would want to board an aero to his village. Most of us have forgotten that he taught us the now famous dance step ‘etighi’, when he busted our eardrums with that blazing single ‘AkwaIbom’. The lyrical content wasn’t so bad, judging by the fact that it wasn’t my language and I could barely decode its meaning. He used that single to teach us some nuggets about his culture. I have wondered where he might be; probably he has finally gone home, like he always wanted. Anyone who comes in contact with him should please ask him, if he used motor or aero to get to Uyo.

He had this strong will and desire to tell a story; he put this zeal on the wheels, by telling our story. He championed our cause. He was the only civilian that prophesied the first coup of our dear country, and it came to pass even before his prophecy was published.

He didn’t hide his face in our mistakes and pretend that all was well; he never folded his arms, rather he pointed fingers to our mistake, and directed us out of them, even though we ignored him.

This was a noble gentleman, who once lived with us on earth; he was so vibrant, that his demise left a vacuum in the lines of our history. He started the journey into the world like everyone did, had setbacks like most of us, but above all he was a success. He made the whites believe that we are Africans and indeed we have a history; he took us to the forefront and fought the battle until his last breath, he was seen as a controversial writer, his works were always poignant, as he injected into us, the wealth of his wisdom. To many critics, he was just a Paper Tiger.

In most cases, he was misinterpreted, but his spirit was never dampened. To the old he was a hero and to the young he was a mirror.

I have wondered if God is calling all our heroes home for another ‘ABURI ACCORD’, this time in heaven. Ojukwu fought our war with arms, and this man fought with pen. Why have they gone home, they have left us alone to fight for our throne? In the space of a year, we have lost two wisdom trays. The most recent of them is this man.

He was a Man of The People, and now that he has gone, Things Have Fallen Apart, and the land is No Longer at Ease. We just hope that this is not the Arrow of God upon us. Indeed There Was a Country, and in that country there was a man, there was CHINUA ACHEBE.

The winner has emerged for the 2013 Miss Nigeria contest that was held yesterday at Intercontinental hotel, Lagos.The winner, a beautiful 22 year old law graduate of Abia State University, Ezinne Akudo beat all the other contestants to snag the crown.
She won N3million a brand new car, and a trip to California.
Congrats Ezinne.

Sometimes we realise, though too late, that in our desire to be a man, we have failed in our duties as a boy.

Growing up in the street is like living with a beast. It’s a jungle where you wake with a kiss and sleep with a hiss. I wonder why you will need an alarm bell to wake you in the street. Unless you are deaf to the cockcrows, rattles from rats, gunshots from gangsters and most of all buzzes from our dearest friend mosquito. These are the common alarm bells that can wake you in a street.

You don’t need an intro to tell you that you are in the four walls of our ghetto. One step in, and you are embraced by the ghetto sin, you either join the chorus or carry the cross.

The law here is intelligence, acidic smartness, a lorry load of experience, craftiness and a bucket full of greed and patience. You tame what you catch, and just hope to hang on to it, before someone else takes what belongs to him.

In this street your best friend is a chain smoker, your colleague is a swindler, and your companion is a nymphomaniac. But one thing remains certain, you decide for yourself.

Suddenly you remember that your father is a deacon, your mother a deaconess, and you are already planning on becoming a saint. With all these friends around, it’s either you face defeat or quit the street.

However the decision lies in your hands, whatever decision you make, don’t forget who you are. Sometimes it doesn’t matter, what you are or where you are for now. What matters is who you are and where you are from now.

Life in the street has thought me to be cautious of who I meet and where I feast.

Trust has been lost, and neither friends nor foes can pay the cost. We all live in a sphere where best friends live in fear. Time has gone and yet we have not outgrown this fear of the unknown. The truth has been uprooted from its root and left unsheltered in the open air, to be bathed by the scourging heat of the sun and pierced by fierce thorns.

We believe what we are told and share the same stories to the fold, without cultivating the interest to find out the truth.

The truth is tied in a sack and left in the dark, while lies are brought forth to spotlight. Rumors are now the order of the day, driving freely in the subway of our subconscious. And leaving its imprints in the minds of those affected.

No wonder those below are neglected, because those on top have been polluted. Those we deem to be wise have left us disappointed after they joined the mass in the quest for the endless gain of the grain.

Each morning we wake to a new crime and a new lie. Our mentors have left us midway into the journey; our suitors have left us halfway into the ceremony. We are left on a cross road. Caught in the trap of choice without a map or guild. Only then did we realize that we have entrusted our future in the hands of bleak creatures. Men whose conscience has been clouded with despicable thoughts.

October 1^st signaled that we are 52minutes into the game and yet no goal attempts, only shooting wild our expectations like blind hunters. Exhausting gainful opportunities, committing leadership errors, and constantly loosing possession of our dreams. When shall we equalize our efforts with success? Must we wait for an extra tenure? Why can’t we utilize effectively the 1^st & 2^nd tenures available to us? Probably we are waiting for the luck shootout, where success smiles on the fortunate and leaves the hardworking ill fated.

When shall we stand to the truth and unite our province with the actualization of our promise? When shall we put smiles on the faces of those whose loved ones were convicted in the misfortunes of the bomb and flood? When shall we become so patriotic to unite heart and might in the service of the nation so as to bring it to limelight?

Nigeria will always remain our country, passion may strain but our affection will remain within its boundary.

Have you ever wondered why you come across most newspapers on the balcony with only a few pages in existence. Mostly pages containing Religion and Education. Then you wonder where the Sports, Fashion and Entertainment pages might have slipped into. It only takes a clear look at the number on the pages for you to realize that this is not a mere omission. This implies that the missing pages have deliberately been ripped off by those interested in them.

You hardly see an average Nigerian who reads the newspaper from page 1 to the last page. we always skip pages. It might still amuse you that Most Nigerians don't even read the papers they just glance through the photo pages.

Most people read newspapers and magazines for various reasons, but in one word we can summarize all those reasons. we read to be informed, though the information we derive varies by our personal interest and the articles we read.

Here is a research of an average Nigerian reader withing relative age brackets.

MALE (50years - infinity) These are the ones that read with eyeglasses. They are the most readers, constituting up to 50% of the newspaper readers. they always go for the pages that has stories on politics.

FEMALE (50yrs - Infinity) These group don't need to read the papers, they buy them but just for other people. they don't have time for it. They are always either in the market or in the kitchen. They get the information they need from their neighbours, those who have already read the papers.

MALE (21yrs - 49) These group of males have nothing to do with politics. They have accepted though with fear, the fairytale of democracy as government of the bureaucrats. For them it's always the usual lies and (politricks), so whatever happens to the politicians is not part of their interest. All they are interested in the newspapers are the Business pages. They study these pages with great interest on the stock & equity market reports, not excluding the exchange rates.

FEMALE (21yrs - 49) They hardly have time for the papers, for them it's like wasting much out of their little time. But eventually if they do. They don't miss out the fashion pages, they read these pages with much interest on the latest fashion & model gist of the moment. sometimes they tear off these fashion pages that interest them most and stuff them in their handbags to show as a sample to their designers on the new outlook they will like them to make.

MALE (14yrs - 20) What have this group got to do with fashion, rather they go for the sports pages. They are always updated reading about the latest transfer gist, league tables, match fixtures & results not excluding the top scorers chart that always pop out in these sports pages. After reading these sports gist, they spend most of there time bragging on the issues they have read about. they don't go for papers that lack a sports page. most times they even stuff away this sports pages as evidence to their argument with peers.

FEMALE (14yrs - 20) What have this group got to do with sports. It smacks them alot each time their male peers enjoy discussing this subject called sports. Instead these group go for the entertainment pages consisting of Music, movie and what have you got. They go for the latest gist on their celebrities. Feeding their fantasies of becoming one of them. Most times they stuff out these pages in order to fantasize more about their celebrities, wishing they were in their shoes.

MALE & FEMALE (14yrs - 20) These set don't miss out the passion pages that talk about love, sex, friendship, relationship and betrayal. They enjoy these stories, learning new tricks & fun to play out on their opposite sex. they derive new words for their love letters & texts after reading these pages. Sometimes they rip out these pages in order to consult them when they are stocked in the maze of writing a love text to their opposite sex.

MALE & FEMALE (7yrs - 13) These group just go for the kiddies corner. It's a pity that most partakers of these age bracket don't read papers, because only a few of the Nigerian papers contain these kids corners. So when these kids don't see these pages in the papers their parents brought home. They go for the comic drawings on the papers, feeding themselves with either the good or bad they find on the comic drawings.

This research leaves you with the question. Why is it that education & religion pages don't interest Nigerians? Mostly the youths, they pop into the education pages only when they see the name of their schools. they read just to know why it appeared. They don't care to read the educative articles.

Most religion pages are left for the fanatics. Nobody dares to get a clue from these pages, except when a crime have been committed in a worship place.

the fact that we must be informed to avoid being deformed have radicalized most minds, that sometimes the information we come across on most pages of our newspapers deform us instead of evaluate us. This explains the fact that most Nigerians read for fun and not for the sake of information.

The difference between God and the Devil can be clearly illustrated as two different building. Thus:

In God's building there is a wide entrance and a wide exit that allows you to enter and leave at anytime of your choice, while in devil's building there is only an entrance and no exit, which allows you the choice of entry with no choice of leaving.

In the devil's building the entrance passage is wider than the room itself, this passage entices you to come in unaware of how stuffy the room inside is. But in God's building the entrance passage is narrower; this makes you disbelieve in the existence of glorious things hidden in the large room inside.

In God's building there are directions, guidelines, and instructions on how to live successfully. Sometimes these guidelines can be boring and quite time taking but the end result cannot be far fetched from good tidings and always quite enticing. One spectacular thing about these guidelines is that you are allowed the choice of choosing whether to adhere or ignore them. Adhering to them increases your tenancy in this building, while ignoring them only brings you closer to the exit.

In the same manner, the devil's building consist of strict commands and you are not allowed any choice rather than to adhere; There is no liberty of choice or free will; you are compelled by a cohesive force to adhere to all the rules. In which if you disobey you earn painful punishment, and if you obey you only enslave yourself the more; moving yourself further into the stuffy room of discomfort, thereby increasing your chances of suffocation and enslavement and decreasing your chances of an exit through the entrance door.

Another spectacular thing about this two building is that in God's building you are a TENANT, governed by laws of tenancy in which you have choice of quitting your tenancy and leaving. But in the devil's building you are just a SLAVE compelled to obey strictly the laws of the master.

Another amazing feature about these buildings is that. There's always a surging crowd at the entrance of the devil's, while inmates of this building are struggling to come out through this same entrance; some even die on their way out. Others not withstanding this fact still insist on tasting the torture of this building. But in outside God's building there is a lesser crowd going in freely without struggle.

          While some are striving to enter either of this building some are just patrolling the balcony of both from this to that, without entering any. But when night comes, surely they will have to choose one or allow one to choose them, because nobody will be left outside.

   Time and eternity are two sides of life. Time waits for nobody but eternity is waiting for you. what you do in time determines where you will spend eternity. killing your time is not murder rather it is suicide. I f you are born in sin, it's not your fault, but if you die in sin, you will have yourself to blame. You may juggle human laws, you may fool human courts, but there's a judgment to come from which there is no appeal.
