Leicester City in deep trouble to Avoid Relegation

After losing to Swansea City on Sunday, Leicester City find themselves just one places above the drop zone and tantalising close of being relegated as defending champions which happened just once when Manchester City got relegated in 1937-38 season .

The biggest concern for Claudio Ranieri’s men is they have manage to get just one point this year and are in 5 match losing streak. Most importantly they have not scored a single goal this year which is unbelievable for the team which have the likes of Vardy, Slimani , Musa and Mahrez in the team and have let in 12 goals in these five games. Their team who had leader in Wes Morgan, Robert Huth , Danny Drinkwater completely lacked confidence and have been off colour.

Another concern for the Foxes is the fellow strugglers Hull City & Swansea City who after change of manager have shown immense improvement and are looking to stay up. In fact Paul Clement has took Swansea City who were dead & buried when Bob Bradley left to 15^th Place. Hull City, currently 18^th in the table ,have shown improvement under Marco Silva. Hull City have held Manchester United , defeated Liverpool & took Arsenal to their limits at Emirates which could be positive when they play bottom clubs towards the end. Sunderland and Crystal Palace despite struggling can turn things around.

Another problem that Leicester have is their Champions League Round of 16 match against Spanish team Sevilla FC comes under such crucial time . Sevilla who are 3^rd in La Liga table and have much European experience than Leicester City, could be too hot to handle for the foxes especially at form and confidence they are in. It would be better if Leicester goes out and don’t think much about the defeats.

Just 13 games remaining in the season and likes of Liverpool. Manchester City, Arsenal and Spurs to follow along with Hull, Sunderland and Crystal Palace , things won’t be easy for the Foxes. It will be important for Leicester to take one game at a time. Just like Ranieri said before the Swansea game This season has just started for them .It is matter of just one win or may be one Jamie Vardy goal that can bring their confidence back and then stay up next season. They were even in deeper hole two season ago and dramatically survived relegation. If Leicester ever needs Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez , it is in these 13 games.

The big game of Match day 25 will see Liverpool entertain Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield with both sides needing a win to stay in contention of top four place.

Tottenham and Liverpool are having contrasting forms in 2017. Liverpool who were not long before were second in the table at the end of 2016 ,but since then Jurgen Klopp’s men have gone winless in last 5 games with 3 defeats and 2 draws, with latest against struggling Hull City last week, which saw them dropped to fifth the table. Tottenham Hotspur, on the other hand, have 3 wins and 2 draws last week and many pundits are predicting Mauricio Pochettino to be the sole challenger to Chelsea for the Premier League title.

Over the years Liverpool has had tremendous record against Spurs at Anfield .Tottenham have lost 15 games and drawn 9 in their last 24 visits at Anfield .Liverpool have 8 match unbeaten streak against Spurs with 5 wins and 3 draws. Plus Jurgen Klopp since joining Liverpool has fantastic record against top 6 clubs with only one defeat last season at hands of Manchester United.

Team News-

Dejan Lovren might be doubtful for the clash against Spurs and Ragnar Klavan also likely to miss the clash due to infection , Klopp might be forced to go with Lucas Leiva and Joel Matip as centre back in the game. Sadio Mane who has been one of the important player for Liverpool will surely start with Roberto Firmino and Phillippe Coutinho. Adam Lallana who missed two days training with Achilles injury will likely be in starting XI,

For Tottenham, Danny Rose and Jan Vertonghen are sure absentees for the clash. Pochettino will continue with Eric Dier and Jan Davies in defence. Rest Pochettino will likely to go with the same line up as we saw against Middlesbrough .

What to expect from the game-

This game will be the battle of Premier League’s meanest defence and Premier League’s highest goal scoring team. We might expect Spurs to sit deep in Liverpool’s half and rely on counter attacks to expose the shaky defence of Liverpool. Liverpool will hope Sadio Mane’s speed and ball control comes good against Ben Davies. The story of Leicester City since their arrival in Premier League two season ago has been nothing short of amazing. After narrowly missing relegation in 2014-15 season, Claudio Ranieri’s men defied all the odds and became the Champions of England in the very next season .This achievement was nothing short of miracle as they were destined to be relegated but they overcame some of the most successful club's in England and won this illustrious title for the first time. But this season, Leicester City had series of bad results latest being against Burnley at Tuesday night which have put them in relegation battle.What Exactly Has Gone Wrong for The Fallen Foxes this season?

Currently, Leicester City are in 16^th Place with just 21 points from 23 games and are just 2 points above the drop zone. Biggest Concern for Leicester City is that fellow strugglers like Swansea City, Hull City and Crystal Palace are looking much more confident and gained some important points this mid week. Swansea City have back to back wins against Liverpool and Southampton and are enjoying much needed form and confidence under Paul Clement, Hull City also held Manchester United at Old Trafford and Crystal Palace enjoyed their first win under their new manager Sam Allardyce, who has distinction of never being relegated in Premier League.

Very few experts expected Leicester City to emulate the heroics of last season this time around. But none expected Claudio Raneiri’s men to be back in the relegation battle. But what exactly has happened to the fallen champions this season?

The main concern of Claudio Ranieri has been the loss of their defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante to Chelsea .Kante made most number of tackles and interceptions in the season and was considered as one of the major factor along with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez in making Leicester Champions last season.

Another major reason of Foxes poor season has been the loss of form of their talismanic striker Jamie Vardy, who scored 24 goals last season has dropped down to just 5 so far this season. If Leicester avoids the drop zone this season they have need Jamie Vardy to fire .

Australian Open 2017 Men’s Singles Final| Preview and Predictions

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will roll back the years at Rod Laver Arena when these two icons face each other in the Australian OpenMen’s Singles Final for the second time. The Rod Laver Arena will buzz around when these icons take up the court and play in the first final since Roland Garros 2011.This will be the 35^th meeting between the Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer where Nadal leads Federer 23-11.Nadal also have an edge over Federer in the 11 Grand Slam matches where he leads Federer 9-2.But like many people statistics are just number. Whoever plays the best on the given will add one more Grand Slam title in their cabinet.

The path of both Federer and Nadal in this year’s Australian Open was difficult. Roger Federer came to the Australian Open seeded 17 and after missing most of the 2016 due to knee surgery ,he was not considered as favourite to reach the second week. He was given the tough draw where he was drawn with Tomas Berdych, World No 5 Kei Nishikori and Stan Wawrinka in the Semis. But he rolled back the years ,with his majestic ground strokes and quick serves he defeated the tricky opponents like Jurgen Melzer, Noah Rubin and dispatched Tomas Berdych in the third round .He then held his nerve in a five set thriller against Kei Nishikori and then overcame a slight hiccup in defeating compatriot Stan Wawrinka in five sets after winning two set to love.

Just like Federer, Nadal also missed towards the end of 2016 due to wrist injury and also had tough year where he failed to reach the Quarter Final of all four Grand Slams. With the disappointment of 2016 behind him, he also suffered a defeat in three sets against World No 3 Milos Raonic at Brisbane Open. Many tennis analyst also written him off as he got the tricky draw and that almost came true when he was stretched to five sets against German Alexander Zverev that lasted almost 4 hours in the third round. He then overcame unpredictable Monfils in fourth round before dispatching third seed Milos Raonic in straight sets where he was close to his best. Like Federer ,Nadal also had a 5 sets thriller against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in a match that lasted almost 5 hours. The match was of such intensity where both the players didn’t give an inch and fought neck to neck. Nadal not only dealt with powerful serves of Dimitrov but also powerful forehand and backhand winners.

About the final, Roger Federer might have an advantage of extra day rest. But like in 2009 final ,it might not be an issue for Nadal. Federer will need to serve well and will have to make sure that not engage in long rallies. Nadal has always troubled Federer with his topspin into Federer Backhand in earlier matches and will be aiming for that again.

When Australian Open 2017 started very few people expected Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on men’s side and Venus Williams and her sister Serena will fight out for the ladies singles championship. Many tennis great and analyst were expecting Andy Murray to win his first Australian Open Championship or Novak Djokovic to win his record breaking seventh Australian Open. Also in ladies section very few people expected Venus Williams to reach the finals where young guns like Karolina Pliskova , Garbine Muguruza, Johanna Konta and Simona Halep were considered as a likely finalist .But the way these veterans fought they rolled back the years and proved that Age is just a number.

2016 was a tough year for each of the four veterans .Roger Federer missed most of the 2016 due to knee injury which saw him move out of the top 10 for the first time since 2001.Rafael Nadal missed the end of the season due to wrist injury and had a very tough season where he failed to reach the fourth round of any of the Grand Slams and suffered a heart breaking loss to Juan Martin Del Potro in the Rio Olympics.

The story of Venus Williams was even more tough .At the age of 36, Venus Williams will be aiming for her first Australian Open Championship. Venus undergone career threatening back injury and illness from 2011-14 which saw her rankings drop . But she had the belief and fight her way back into the elites by reaching the semi final last year in Wimbledon and final of the Australian Open which in the age of 36 is a phenomenal achievement while Serena Williams suffered heart breaking loss to Angelique Kerber and Garbine Muguruza in the Australian Open and French Open Final which saw her losing her World No 1 ranking to Angelique Kerber.

The way these legends played in the Australian Open has rolled us back to decade where Venus Serena and Federer Nadal final was eminent and proved that whether you are in your 30’s you should always have class to overcome all the odds to achieve your dreams. Whoever wins the grand slams these four legends have made this Australian Open a memorable one.

Southampton Vs Arsenal |FA Cup 4th Round|Preview

The fourth round of the FA Cup will saw Southampton FC entertain Arsenal at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday Night. Arsenal needed a last minute goal from Olivier Giroud and overcame a very poor first half to defeat Preston North End in the third round where as Southampton needed a third round replay to defeat Norwich City.

In last few years , Arsenal have struggled against Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium. They suffered a 4-0 thrashing last season at the hands of Southampton and also were defeated 2-0 against them season before that. So Arsene Wenger will have his work cut out against them this time around. This season Southampton has faced Arsenal twice once in Premier League and then in EFL Cup Quarter Finals at Emirates and Arsenal needed a last minute penalty from Santi Cazorla in Premier League and were humiliated at EFL Cup where they were defeated 2-0 and got knocked out. Having been knocked out already once by Southampton once , Arsene Wenger will look to reverse the result this time around. So that why I feel Wenger should Arsene Wenger Should Play a strong Squad against Southampton.

In the League Cup Quarter Final , Wenger fielded a weak squad which struggled against Southampton defence and also could not cope up with the Southampton counter attacks in the game and ultimately lost the game .So I feel Wenger should start a strong side against Southampton in the FA Cup. Wenger will put David Ospina on goal as he started against Preston North End in the third round. Hector Bellerin should start as right back as his pace might trouble Southampton midfield. Major change will come in Centre back where I think Wenger could rest both Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny and may give Rob Holding a chance but I think Wenger should play either one of the main centre backs along side Gabriel as Holding might struggle against forward line of Southampton. I personally feel Wenger should play Alex Oxlade Chamberlain in right wings and Lucas Perez who has done quite well so far the chances that he got. Mesut Ozil should play in the number 10 role with Alexis Sanchez as a striker. Wenger might consider resting Alexis and Ozil before the crucial clash against Chelsea next week at Stamford Bridge but Giroud might have trouble against the Southampton and he normally slows the game. So I feel Wenger should start Sanchez as striker as he has shown great determination and is hungry to play more. So why not play him and if things goes a bit tricky Wenger may substitute him for Giroud in the second half.

Southampton has recently defeated Liverpool in the League Cup Semifinal and reached the final to play Manchester United at Wembley. Southampton will miss the services of Virgil Van Dijk who has been the standout performer for Southampton so far in the season and will also miss the Charlie Austin due to shoulder surgery. But Claude Puel will be upbeat as they have the team who are upbeat and full of confidence at defeating Liverpool earlier this week.

I expect a very tough game where Arsenal should use the pace of Bellerin and Oxlade Chamberlain and the form of Alexis Sanchez to break Southampton down. I think Arsenal will break St.Mary’s jinx and win 2-1

Day 10 of the Australian Open sees Rafael Nadal take on 3^rd seed Milos Raonic in blockbuster Quarter Final at Rod Laver Arena where the winner take on Grigor Dimitrov on Friday. Earlier today,Dimitrov defeated 11^th seed David Goffin of Belgium in straight sets to reach his first Australian Open Semi final. Here is the preview of Rafael Nadal and Milos Raonic Quarter Final .

Rafael Nadal came into the tournament as ninth seed and had the tough road where he faced young sensation Alexander Zverev of Germany in the third round with Nadal eventually defeated Zverev in a 5 set thriller in a classic that lasted almost four hours. Nadal then overcame a late rally from Gael Monfils that set up a Quarter final showdown with Raonic.

Raonic on the other hand had to overcome the likes of Dustin Brown and Gilles Muller in the opening round in straight sets and then lost a set against Giles Simon in the third set and overcame a tough start to beat Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in fourth round .

Milos Raonic and Rafael Nadal will take up the court where both the player know a single margin for error might end their dreams of lifting the Australian Open. Both Raonic and Nadal faced each other in Brisbane International earlier this month where Raonic overcame Nadal in tough three sets. So we expect another epic showdown between two players. Nadal will have to deal not only with the powerful serves of Raonic but also with aggressive baseline play of Raonic who has a powerful Forehand. Rafael Nadal will have edge over Raonic in long rallies. He need to be aggressive right from the start and try to neutralize Raonic serve and also exploit his weakness while movement in long rallies and his weak backhand.

On Day 4 of the Australian Open , we witnessed one of the greatest upset in Australian Open in recent times when World No 2 and Defending Champion Novak Djokovic lost a five set thriller against World No 117 Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan in the 2^nd round in 4 hours and 48 minutes.

It was so disbelieving to see Novak Djokovic ,who was one of the overwhelming favorite to win his 7^th Australian Open losing so early in the tournament, but Istomin played one of his best tennis to beat Novak and stunned the tennis world. Istomin ranked 117 in this year Australian Open won the first set in 85 minutes and also had Novak in trouble IN 2^ndset where Djokovic just hanged around and won the set 7-5.But he matched Djokovic with series of aggressive hitting from baseline and served brilliantly especially in fourth and fifth set and won important at crucial stages to cause such a great upset. So After Novak Djokovic’s Early Exit, Who is the favorite to win the Australian Open?

With Djokovic’s defeat so early, World No 1 Andy Murray becomes one of the favorite to win the Australian Open this year. He has shown amazing form so far in early rounds and may not have much problems till Quarter Finals where he might face either Roger Federer or Kei Nishikori. Murray has the experience and is playing well since last year which saw him winning the Olympic gold and becoming World No 1 for the first time. It will be interesting how he counters the tough moments and win his first Australian Open after being runner up 5 times.

Stan Wawrinka had a very tough first round match against Martin Klizan where he prevailed in five sets after being a break down in the fifth set. He then dispatched Steve Johnson in straight sets. Stan the reputation he can win the tournament for the second. Wawrinka , who had won the tournament in 2014,has the experience and has become mentally stronger which has made him win three Grand slams. He has the serve and strong ground strokes and one of the best single handed backhand which has troubled the big 4 in the past.

Rafael Nadal has started this tournament strongly and has looked brilliant in both the rounds so far. From third round it gets tough for Nadal when he faces Alexander Zverev of Germany. If he prevails he might face Monfils in the fourth round and then face Milos Raonic in the Quarter Final. Perhaps Rafael Nadal has the toughest draw and many people might write him off especially if he faces Milos Raonic. But if Nadal stays fit and plays the game that has won him 14 grand slams , he can overcome all the odds and win the Australian Open.

Other players that you can cause serious bet to win after Djokovic’s exit are Milos Raonic , Roger Federer, Kei Nishikori. Let us see who wins the tournament this year.

We are just few days away from the first Grand Slam of the year ,The Australian Open and already the top tennis players sweat it out in ATP 250 tournaments held in Chennai, Brisbane,Doha and also in Hopman Cup. While we saw players like Novak Djokovic , Andy Murray, Milos Raonic and Kei Nishikori started the season well where as other players like Rafael Nadal,Stan Wawrinka ,Marin Cilic and Roger Federer looked to regain their form just few week before the first Grand Slam of the Year.

Rafael Nadal-

The Fourteen time Grand Slam Champion, Rafael Nadal had a tough last two years in ATP tour with consistent wrist problems and also form which saw him drop down to World Number 9.But still Rafael Nadal start as one of the dark horses and also one of the players which any top player will like to avoid. Rafael Nadal had shown shades of brilliance in Brisbane where he lost to Raonic in tough three setter. By getting many match practice and avoiding injury Rafael Nadal has every chance of reaching the second week of the Championship and may be winning it.

Roger Federer-

Just like Nadal, Roger Federer comes into this year’s Championship just from career threatening knee surgery which saw him drop out of top 10 for the first since 2002.With age catching up and lack of match practice , many people counting Federer out. But still the current top 10 will be eagerly want not to be drawn with Federer in early rounds. The Seventeen times Grand Slam Champion has nothing to lose and can use all his experience to trouble the likes Thiem, Nishikori, Raonic and even Andy Murray who he had defeated in the past. Juan Martin Del Potro-

The Argentine made an immediate Statement when he defeated Stan Wawrinka in Wimbledon and then defeated Novak Djokovic in the first round and Rafael Nadal in the Semifinal of the Rio Olympics. Grigor Dimitrov-

The 25 year Bulgarian had a tremendous start to the 2017 season in the Brisbane International Open where he won his first ATP title since 2014.The most impressive part of his play was the way he defeated Milos Raonic in two sets and then defeating Kei Nishikori in the finals in three sets. Dimitrov, once considered as one of the biggest talent along with Nishikori and Raonic, but consistent loss of form in last two season questioned many about his talent. Hopefully Dimitrov carry his good form to the Australian Open and becomes one of the dark horse to win the Australian Open.

No doubt the 12 times Grand Slam winner and 6 times Australian Open Champion starts as the favourite to win the title. Despite his indifferent form towards the end of the 2016 season, Djoker has all attributes to win the title for the record 7 times and for me start as favorite. He started the season well and faced 5 match points in the second set Tie break to beat Fernando Verdasco at Doha and then defeating World Number 1 Andy Murray in the final to successfully defend his Qatar Open title.

Andy Murray:

World Number 1 Scotsman starts as my second favourite to win his first Australian Open this year. Andy Murray had a terrific 2016 with reaching the finals of Australian Open and French Open and winning his second Wimbledon title and also winning the Gold Medal in Rio Olympics. He also got the world no 1 ranking towards the end of the season and also defeated Novak Djokovic in the season finale at London. On current form, the world no 1 has the best chance of winning his first Australian Open Title after five attempts. But main question is Can he beat Novak Djokovic to win in five set match?

Milos Raonic:

The Canadian with his big serves starts as one of the favorite to win his first Australian Open this year. No doubt about his big serves ,but Raonic has improved his Forehands and Backhand which has troubled the likes of Roger Federer in Wimbledon ,Rafael Nadal in Brisbane and almost defeated Andy Murray in the semifinal of ATP World Finals big matches in an epic 3 setter match. Has Chelsea have already clinched their Fourth Premier League Title?

Chelsea Football Club last night defeated Stoke City 4-2 to record their 13^th Consecutive Win in the 2016-17 season. With this win ,they equalled Arsenal invincible record of 13 Consecutive win in top flight football. But the main question is that has Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have already clinched their Fourth Premier title this season.

The answer might be it is very early to tell as Chelsea lead Liverpool by only six points and six points advantage is not a big lead going into January. But the way Antonio Conte’s men are playing at present, it is very unlikely they would be uncatchable and might win the title in April itself. 2016-17 Premier League enters the 19^th Week of the season, and the big match of the week is Liverpool versus Manchester City at the famous Anfield Stadium on the Saturday Night. The Game is must win game for Liverpool and Manchester City as any slip ups will put them further behind the League leaders Chelsea.

Good News for Pep Guardiola’s side is the return of their talismanic striker Sergio Aguero after serving his 5 game ban for his horrendous tackle on David Luiz during the game against Chelsea. With Manchester City picking form just at the right time with three wins in trot with big one against Arsenal two weeks ago,Pep Guardiola’s Team will be looking for another big scalp just before New Year’s Eve.

Liverpool on the other hand has been the free scoring team so far in the season. With 45 goals so far, Jurgen Klopp’s men is considered as the most entertaining team so far. But their shaky defence and also the form of both goal keeper has put some suspicions on their title charge. The midfield will comprise of Fernandinho and Yaya Toure in Central Midfield role and with KDB and Sterling as at left and right wings respectively and David Silva as number 10 role. Sergio Aguero will start as the striker for this game.

Mignolet should start as goal keeper .With Lovren and Klavan as centre backs. James Milner who has done exceptionally well in his role as Left Back will keep his place along with Clyne as right back. Predictions:
