What's black, white and red all over?.... Apparently me. I had forgotten about my red pants for a very long time. The last time I probably wore them was here, but something made me remember them. I have seen a lot of colorful denim these days, though brighter colors and more pastels. Yesterday was not quite a pastel kind of day to me (overcast and rainy), so I felt my muted red pants were appropriate. My nails on the other hand, are bittersweet candy! I have been obsessing over Essie's Geranium since I picked it out for a friend with a very specific outfit in mind. Once I saw it on her, I knew I needed to get it. Now that I have tried it, I can safely say that it will be one of my warm weather favorites (if the warm weather ever really comes).

I'm thinking I need some Geranium colored denim! Where do you find candy colored denim?

I really really like hound's tooth patterns. It is one of those patterns that can also be treated as a neutral. There is something sophisticated about it, but also very fun and lady-like. This skirt really makes me feel like an adult. I decided to pair the muted colored hound's tooth skirt, with a bright bright top and equally bright shoes. I feel like I have been wearing this top constantly since I bought it. I have already worn it so many ways, and I can't wait to style it yet another way. Even though it is pretty loud, it has become a staple of my closet. The color makes the skirt even more lively and less stiff (well the shape is still rather constricting :) ).

This hound will deffo hunt again!

It's been a while. I'm out of practice, and lately it seems, out of inspiration. I have been working a lot, and seeing less. Even shopping has become a chore to me-- I can't find anything. My last shopping adventure, with my patient boyfriend, resulted in nothing, nada, niente... except disappointment. The trip before was a little bit more fruitful, but ended in a return (or two). I did however find this seafoam beauty at Forever21. I was in love. Something about the color speaks to ethereal mermaids and fairy tales. Because of its whimsical nature, I paired it with harsh black and white horizontals and my edgy new JC's that I was dreaming about months ago. This brought the pretty foam back to reality... almost.

I can't wait to try the maxi in different ways... Bring on the summer!

I really really really want these shoes. I have only been thinking about them for about a week at this stage. In trying to be a good, responsible girl, I have not bought them yet, and I am waiting to see how the coming weeks treat me. I think they would be a lovely reward for my one year anniversary at my current employment... what do you think?

I've been seeing spots, more specifically leopard spots, since I noticed these Dolce Vita booties on a blogger more than a month ago. I made the mistake of clicking the link of where she purchased them, and fell in love instantly. I was trying to be good, since I had a shoe buying rampage in January, but I couldn't help myself. After two weeks of deliberation and dreams of ensembles (this one included), I accidentally ordered the lovelies on Amazon (no, but really, it was an accident). And here they are... perfectly Spotted.

Something about my black faux fur jacket screams groupie to me. I am not sure what it is... maybe it is the size, the shape and the color. But sometimes, it is these things that hold me back from wearing this furry coat. I bought it in London from H&M probably ages ago ( I have no clue), and found myself too timid to wear it. Afraid the shape was too boxy, I kind of put it away for moments that I felt particularly daring, or wearing incredibly high heels (for some reason I thought it helped). So, I dared to try it again...this time with some pattern, splashes of color....and a groupie attitude.

How do you wear your "fur" coats or combat the potential for the boxy shape?

Not bruised, just black and blue really. I turn to this sweater dress when I am looking for ease and comfort. In fact I wore it for my double shift at work yesterday. I love how easy this little cuddly number is to dress up or dress down, pair it with booties or flats or over the knee boots, it is always kinda sexy. Adding a belt, to me adds sexiness and gives the sweater dress a nice shape. My boyf likes to believe that the dress is not really a full dress, but just a sweater, but with tights, it can be whatever I want it to be!

What do you put on to be moderately comfortable and moderately stylish at the same time?

THRILL of the CHASE...

Sigh. So this is another pair of shoes from my recent shoe spree. With these, it was partially about the thrill of the chase and the other part is the mere attractiveness (read sex appeal) of the shoe. I found these hotties to be a little bit out of my shoe comfort zone. 1. They are from Aldo (have a hard time with sizing) 2. They are loafers (with a tassel ... fancy that) 3. They are beyond impractical even for me... but the aesthetics of the shoe drew me in. Buut they didn't have the shoe in the size I needed. Of course I tried on the wayy wrong size just to see, and, per usual, I was enamored. I had to have them. So, in desperation and infatuation, I order them and am promised the beauties in 3 to 5 business days. I get the call, come to the store in my next free moment, and the shoes were the wrong size. Ugh. I know it is pretty lame, but I was so disappointed (even though my two other new pairs of shoes came that day). Once again I ordered the shoes, was made the same promise, and held my breath in anticipation. Tuesday, I got the call that the shoes were in, and basically flew out of the door to get them. And they fit and they are beautiful... and in conclusion... it was all worth the chase.

Having been less than inspired by clothes, once again... I have come up with an ensemble that I would not define as "Typical Randi," but at the same time I feel like that may be changing. I asked my friend what to wear, and she suggested I put all my clothes on my bed, and pick pieces that way. I giggled, imagining the mess my room would become (even bigger than it is now) if I were to do that. But I took the concept, and kind of chose blindly, choosing a skirt that had fallen off a hanger and sweater that was not put away yet. I actually really like the combination featuring my polka dotted skirt and one of my favorite glitter sweaters. Who doesn't like dots and sparkle...

How do you chose your clothes when inspiration hasn't hit?

Ok. So. The last couple of weeks have been very hard for me... working hard, and being way less inspired, except by shoes. So these past few weeks, I have gone on a shoe hunt and shoe spree. To some my spree might sound minimal, but to me, three pairs of shoes in 1.5 weeks is a bit over the top. I must justify my shoe thrill purchases in saying that, I got them all for great deals! This makes me happy as well as the new shoe boxes to join my wardrobe family.

These green beauties were my last shoe find. Betsey Johnson didn't fail me when I stumbled on these chunky updated classics roving NastyGal for ideas and shoes. The day after I ordered them, I read this on Refinery29 about "winter boots," so I felt the purchase to be even more justified. I was dreaming about what to wear them with, and this outfit, was deffo not part of the dream...but I was on my way to wear something else when somehow I came upon this quirky combo, and decided to add my towering GREEN giants...

I enjoy this cuddly winter white wrap sweater to death. I got it on a whim in London, as it didn't fall into what I would call my typical clothing choices. Once I got into the idea of it, I deffo wore it a lot on those chilly but not cold enough days because its only major downfall is that it doesn't fit comfortably underneath most of my outerwear. This fact does make this piece extremely difficult to wear in the winter winter time, but luckily, the sunshine and the lull in the wind yesterday, made it easy to whip off my lil leather jacket and have my bf snap some photos. Decided to go a different route than last time in this bad boy (here), making it more casual and comfortable... and suitable for winter white...

White jeans, for my PLAY edition of Winter White, paired with a warm over sized man sweater and one of my new favorite finds, my adventure duck boots. Over the late spring, summer, late summer, early fall (sounds like all the time, doesn't it?), I was obsessed with my white denim. That dangerous, perhaps taboo, obsession is occurring again. I really want to wear my white jeans allover the place, all the time (so it really is all the time). Maybe it is not the correct season. But to me, 'tis the season for Winter White...

So, we have previously discussed the topic of white, and when it is appropriate to sport said color. We have also come to the conclusion that these old school rules restricting the wear of white have been thrown out the window, so it is acceptable at any time.... but is it really? I have been yearning for the color white...jeans, blouses, dresses skirts... Maybe I am missing the summer and its sunshine and warmth, or I am feeling rebellious. But I think white is nice all year round, so this week I am going to share some of my favorite winter white ensembles, starting with the party edition...

As we all know well, I am a sucker for legwear (by legwear I mean, tights, socks...everything, though this does exclude pants). It took me a while to be bold enough to wear intricately patterned tights or decorated fishnets, but now, I thought I was ready to venture into the world of colored tights. These colored tights have been popping up everywhere, and now it is my turn. I do have mixed feelings and reservations, but colored tights are so fun and can completely transform an outfit. Try to imagine this grey dress and black pumps with some plain sheer black tights, or even patterned fishnets... Completely different look right?

Deffo going to keep trying different colors.... What kinds of legwear are you sporting this winter?

coffee heath bar CRUNCH...

So as of late, I have been an ice cream fiend. Literally. All I want is ice cream. Maybe it is my way of showing disrespect or disregard of the winter season (just like I do by wearing skirts and not enough jacket), but really ice cream is what I have been craving most. And one of my favorite flavors ever, Ben and Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch, is harder to come by than I would like. My boyfriend and I stopped in a couple of stores on our quest for it, and the other day had to settle for other flavors. Something about Coffee Heath Bar Crunch that is just perfect...

The colors in what I am wearing automatically make me think of my favorite ice cream-- browns, blacks and deliciousness. Also the smooth layers of my skirt, and the crunch texture of my tapestry boots.

It makes me want some Coffee Heath Bar Crunch now. Never too early for ice cream...

Some days, getting ready for work is a shuffle. We all have been there, I am sure of it. My job has just recently instituted some new look policies aka dress code. The associates have to wear "all" black, while the managers and assistant managers are supposed to wear business casual. Now this, my friends, is a very loose term. In fact, I can not say I can even describe what business casual entails, and apparently neither can anyone. So I take it to mean- a step up. Which, henceforth thus, makes my mornings (or early afternoons, depending), a tad more difficult. This (well almost all of this, minus a few modifications), is what I decided to wear the second day of this policy being active... Business Casual.

How do you define business casual? I need help... :)

DUCKtales...

Ok. I know. I had to. Queen of Corny. Once again my foul skirt makes an appearance (like here, my very first blog post). I get so many compliments on it, but no one can tell what kind of flying animal it really is, but naturally, to maintain quirkiness, I dubbed it my "duck" skirt. It is still so odd to me, a duck (or some kind of foul, deffo need to do the research on that) print skirt...weird but still one of my favorite patterns. I stumbled on it by chance in Urban Outfitters, and was so into the character of the print that I tried it on, despite the fact that I didn't think it was my size.

And my shoes... reminiscent of the snow and rain boots by L.L. Bean (much more practical), yell duck too. The L.L. Bean boots have a rubber front, that look like a bill, hence the duck nickname, and mine have similar detailing, made to replicate the more rugged outdoorsy practical winter boot.

NEWness...

So. It's a new year, so that calls for new things right? Of course I would say Duuuh! because I like to go shopping and play with new toys and clothes. But that is not the only thing I mean (I guess). New Year's resolutions are all chosen, and plans to execute them are prepped, all ready for the new. People always say a new year means a time for change, reevaluation, and revision. I plan to do that, eventually, make new opportunities and try new things. But for now, my new is... new shoes.

While on a shopping adventure, almost specifically for my boyfriend (he had to buy sneakers and things), I announced I wanted shoes (per usual). So this shopping trip turned into a shoe hunt, but we all got what we wanted. He got sneakers (practical) and I got heels (not so practical).

Starting the year off right with shoes that are impractical and fun...what was your first purchase of the new year?

PINKproject: II+ III...

Wednesday I was unable to take too many pictures, but day two of PINKproject, included a forgotten black sweater and my lace up boots. We had a nice family dinner which included cousins that I hardly see. So it was nice to see them. I also made them aware the day before that I was working on a blog project, so they all were expecting the PINK skirt.

Thursday, I mixed lacy patterned tights, with a sweatshirt like tee with my PINK skirt, to continue the project. I switched up some of my accessories (belt and arm party) and went back to the heeled booties. My grandmother told me about her patterend tights, and how she likes to wear them during the holidays. I have to agree, they do make an outfit look more festive and fun.

One more look to go... I'm going to tell you. It is getting harder and harder to wear this PINK skirt again. Once I get home, I am going to have to give this favorite of mine a rest!

So, I am on a little family trip for a few days to the "great" midwestern city of Milwaukee, where my mother is from, and I thought to make packing and dressing more interesting, I would wear the same piece every day. I chose one of my favorite skirts, my PINK one, as the piece that I would wear everyday, styled different ways. Hence, the PINK project. This makes packing both easier and more difficult, but perhaps more spatially more efficient. I am really excited to try this out and hopefully I can make it the few days (especially since I didn't bring another bottom...eep).

This is my first look. Black slouchy tee (my sister's), PINK skirt, belt, underworn "fur" vest and black booties... It felt a little Hannah Montana, fur vest, pink pleated skirt and all, but it is fun and festive.

a YEAR in Review...

As we all can tell, by holidays coming and our calendars getting thinner, another year has almost escaped us, and a new one is about to begin. This year has been an interesting one to say the least. It has been exciting, scary, challenging, difficult, different, rewarding... all at the same time. I have taken on challenges and done things that I never expected I would.

I also started, maintained (ish) and stuck with my biggest endeavor of the year...this blog! I started it, not on a whim, but out of a kind of necessity. And to my shock and amazement, I kept it up (I have bad tenancies...other than impulse buying). The feedback I have been receiving has inspired me to keep going. Even for having little to no expectations, the feedback and comments have way exceeded them. I really appreciate the people who take the time to check out my posts and comment and share. Thanks!

Oh. I'm not sad or anything. How could I be? New shoes, clothes and goodies, great friends and family and Christmas is coming...I'm just wearing navy and light light blue. This skirt was one of my all time favorites in London. I can't even say how many times I wore it (and continue to). But I discovered, on my return to the States, it is deffo a winter skirt, because I have to, I must wear tights with it, or I am exposed. I decided to try it with a looser fitting shirt, rather than the tight tee I generally wear it with (or this glitter sweater), so I paired it with my "Chambray" shirt from Primark, and some opaque tights. For a while there I was not a fan of opaque tights, but I have a feeling this fall and winter I will be playing with them and trying to wear them more.

This skirt has become a great back up option, because it goes so well with everything. I love trying different combos. Who can really help wearing a piece that is so easy and versatile, all the time. This skirt deffo gets frequent flyer miles, and you will be seeing it again....and probably soon! What is one of your fall back pieces...
