Have you ticked your Christmas Eve dress off the list yet?
Were you following one of the winter trends when you were seeking the perfect dress?

On my list, these questions are all ticked! Since I am spending New Year's Eve in runners, travelling, looking dazzling this Christmas Eve is epitome!

I bought the dress from ASOS and not only is it a great fit, but it is also incredibly sexy.
As you can see, it follows the spotted trend and its very Stella McCartney design. Matching it with a pair of glittery black Guess peep-toes,a laced huge Accessorize clutch and huge black earrings will hopefully make my boyfriend remain amazed *fingers crossed*.

I MUST blog about my favourite couple of this year. A Grande Fratello born couple: Davide Baroncini and Erinela Bitri, why the combination of 'BB' because of their surnames!

It's amazing how they are still in love even after Grande Fratello came to an end. Everytime I see them on TV or in the Italian magazines they make me want to fall in love all over again!

And what can be said about their style - they are unique! Together they mark a statement, a fashion statement that is to admire :)

Jake is enthralled by the modelling industry and his looks sure as hell help him. I do not know Jake that much but one thing is for certain - everything he does he does it with passion.

Me: Why modelling?
Jake: I always wanted to walk down a catwalk, and well photography is just a passion of mine. From a young age everyone used to suggest to me that I should try modelling but unfortunately my self esteem was not that high and I never believed in myself. Eleven months ago I was chosen by a Maltese modelling agency, and this is where I can say that my dreams came true. Modelling has improved a lot my self esteem and it enables me to meet with new people who can make me grow.

Me: Just for passion or would you love to make a career out of it someday?
Jake: I model just for passion. In the future I would like to become a dentist. Unfortunately in Malta there are not a lot of opportunities for models, you have to go abroad if you want to make an influential career out of it.

Me: How long have you been doing this?
Jake: Eleven months - since last January.

Me: Which photographer did you mostly enjoy working with?

Me: Who inspires you?
Jake: Tyra Banks. She is constantly talking about natural beauty and I truly believe it exists. She also believes that models need to build up a character and an attitude. We are not puppets!

Why?
Jake: Yes it is. Facebook in fact has pushed modelling a lot. Nowadays teens want to resemble particular models in the way they look and in the way they dress. Due to this modelling is not part and parcel of the buisness world.

Prince Boateng!

Football does not interest me that much. I tend to watch it because I am ‘forced’ to. One can say that I am a passive Juventina, thanks to my father but at the end of the day, I don’t really care if they win or lose!

I must say though, that dating an avid Milan A.C. supporter has had its impacts on me. My boyfriend talks about the players incessantly, and I cannot undermine the fact that most of them have one hunky body!

And that is what this post is about. It is about the sexiest, desirable and attractive footballer not only of Milan A.C. but I do believe of all Italy – PRINCE BOATENG!

Having just resigned from international football, this German born-Ghanian footballer has a body that will make every female drool. Personally, I couldn’t care less about his football past but every time I see a photo of him it sends my haywire.

Boateng has a German mother and a Ghanaian father. His father, Prince Boateng, left Ghana in 1981 hoping for a break in Germany, where he wanted to study administration, however was unsuccessful and he ended up disc jockeying and working as a waiter. Kevin-Prince was only one-and-a-half-years-old when his father left the family home. His German mother, Catherine, ended up working long hours to take care of Kevin and his brother George.

Boateng calls himself “The Ghetto Kid” because he was brought up in the poor Wedding district of Berlin.In official documents, his name is given as Kevin Boateng, but he himself prefers the name Kevin-Prince in honour of his father, Prince Boateng. He married his long term girlfriend Jennifer two days after signing for Tottenham Hotspurs.

He is also father to three-year old Jermaine:

Boateng has 26 tatoos (rawr!). About a tattoo on his biceps, he has been quoted as saying, “Here you see Africa and Ghana from my father”, adding, “I have the name of my wife and my home town, Berlin. I have two jokers; one is smiling and the other crying. It means laugh now, cry later.”

Earlier on in his career, Boateng developed a serious shopping addiction as a result of personal problems. Boateng claims that he still owns “around 200 caps, around 20 leather jackets, and 160 pairs of shoes” following the ordeal. Other things the footballer is known to have bought include a Lamborghini, Hummer, and a Cadillac. Boateng has since overcome this problem, citing how he, “was broken in another world” due to the effects of it.

My favourite photos of him have got to be the ones by Marco Falcetta. Back in summer, the most reknowed Italian designer house; Dolce e Gabbana commissioned a new book featuring photographs by Falcetta of the AC Milan team; the Italian League Winners of 2011. All the players were styled in outfits designed by the famous duo.

Teen Choice Awards - what they wore.

The stars hit the blue carpet for the Teen Choice Awards 2011 in Los Angeles. Let us see some of the best outfits and some of the downers!

Star Quality

Blake Lively looked gorgeous in an orange leather dress by Gucci, which she teamed up with leopard print Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewellry. She definetely sported one this summer's bold/vibrant colour style!

Cameron Diaz also wore one of this summer's style - the nude look. She wore a strapless dress by ALC teamed with strapped Burakuyan platforms (not my ideal choice - I would have preferred a pair of flaming red heels). Her nude Chloe clutch, though, fits perfectly with her dress because it is yet another shade of nude! Despite the shoes, she still looks divine!

California's sweetheart Rachel Bilson wore a light and etheral white minidress designed by Chloe and spiked studded boots by Brian Atwood. I am totally digging the boots! Great choice Rach :)

Only Jason Derulo can pull off this look! He looks a million dollars, and probably is worth a million dollars!

Cat Deeley looks stunning in her tourqouise lace dress; another summer style!

Rock Queen sports a magnificent look! Me likey!

Haba Haba! The star of the awards had got to be Selena Gomez! She looked absolutely angelic in her outfit!

After the fairytale of Kate Middleton, came Kate Moss’ wedding. 11th July marked the wedding of a true fashion icon who revamped the modeling business.

Kate Moss now wedded to Jamie Hince glowed as she wore her John Galliano dress. She looked absolutely graceful and radiant, despite her drug and alcohol reputation.

Her wedding was based on a 70s style, which is in style this summer. Her bridesmaids also got to wear a flower braided head band to support this theme. Everything looked so hippie-like and peaceful.

My latest craze, weirdly enough, are engagement rings! It sounds funny really, since I have no intention of getting married (just yet at least). It must be all these celebrity weddings that have got me into the mood.

The most fascinating thing about getting married, for me, is not the dress, the venue or the flowers. It is the engagement ring!
Guys, the engagement ring has got to be perfect!

I have this credential about rings, that the bigger it is the better! Personally, I do not like small, delicate gems on an engagement ring (even though there is that one exception now and again).

Take Kate Middleton's ring for example:

Kate's 18 carat blue sapphire and diamond ring served also as the engagement ring for the former Princess Diana. It is a wonderful ring fit for a princess :)

From Prada to Artigli

Catwalk shows are just amazing! What struck me most in this year's Spring/Summer 2011 Prada show have got to be the colourful bags. Bold is in this season! Take a look at the following two bags: the dark blue tote bag and the hot pink clutch are my ultimate favourites.

Unfortunately I do not possess thousands of euros to buy these desirable bags! Last Monday, though, I went shopping with my chicas and whilst entering into every shop of the high street we entered Artigli and to my suprise I found bags in the same shap and material as the Prada bags.

My mouth started to water, my heart started punding, I had found look-a-like bags... not copies, just similar bags. The following photo is similar to the one I got, but mine is the slightly bigger form - just the same size as the Prada one.

They also the hot-pink clutch bag, which is the next on my list!

The joy of finding bargains, with a designer taste-style :)

Coachella Crush

The three day April annual festival in California, Coachella, brings out the laid-back style which is stereotyped by hippies.

Celebrities, and participants attending this festival adopt a ‘peace and love‘ style of clothing or as is more commonly referred to a boho-chic trend. Gladiator sandals, maxi dresses, denim shorts, floral printed skirts and colourful lose tops are at the epitome of the clothing list.

This trend is not solely adopted at Coachella only – also at other festivals such as Glastonbury and fashionistas and socialites have added such pieces to their wardrobe as well. Not only is the apparel comfortable, but presently in shops and boutiques the varied array of ‘hippie‘ clothing is in abundance.

Rummaging through this year‘s Coachella photos, Nicole Richie caught my eye. She looked stunning and poised whilst wearing a House of Harlow wedges, a Mulberry printed blouse and satchel.

For summer 2011 keep a look out for this trend, because it has turned from a festival look into a street look, which is sure to catch onlookers‘ attention.

Football meets Fashion

What is more alluring then when footballers dress up to the nines?
What is even more alluring then when ITALIAN footballers wear ITALIAN attire?

I will tell you, nothing is more ALLURING!
Thus, when Dolce and Gabbana decided to commission a new book featuring photographs by Marco Falcetta of the AC Milan team (Italian League Winner 2011) decked with designs by this Italian duo, my mouth started to water!

Personally for me:
Milano = Fashion
Football = Hot Guys
AC Milan = ABSOLUTE SEXINESS!

I mean come on: Adriano Galliani, Massimiliano Allegri, Massimo Ambrosini, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexandre Pato, Thiago Silva, Alessandro Nesta, Clarence Seedorf, Kevin Prince Boateng have a body to kill!

My favourite, though, has got to be the striker Pato! This young football player, has made it to the top and with this collaboration he has even made it in the fashion buisness :)

Tuning in to exams!

Deviating a bit from luxury brands, clothing, accessories and anything related just for two weeks! I'll be back... you won't get rid of me that easily!

EXAMS! EXAMS! EXAMS!
Tomorrow all Communications students will be facing the semiotics exam! Whilst revising, I have fallen in love with Roland Barthes' theories and how he stops and dwells over a particular image! It is amazing how much potential a simple image can hold.

He adopted from Louis Hjemslev the notion that there are three different orders of signification:

1. Denotation: consisting of a signifier and a signified.
2. Connotation: uses the denotation as a connotation and attaches an additional meaning to the signified.
3. Myth/Ideology: the combination of denotation and connotation.

What is interesting to note is that the last order of signification derives from the way that society uses and values the signifier and the signified.

What fascinated me most, though, is how Hawyard managed to carry out a simple semiotic analysis on a photograph of Marilyn Monroe (whilst adopting Barthes' theory):

At the denotative level this is a photograph of the movie star Marilyn Monroe. At a connotative level we associate this photograph with Marilyn Monroe's star qualities of glamour, sexuality, beauty - if this is an early photograph - but also with her depression, drug taking and untimely death if it is one of her last. At a mythic level we understand this sign as activating the myth of Hollywood: the dream factory that produces glamous in the form of the stars it constructs, but also the dream machine that can crush them all - all with a view to profit and expediency.

Basically, every image is open to personal interpretation - there is no wrong answer!

Lace is so in this S/S 2011! At the epitome of all laces, we find the white lace which takes on a vintage edge.

Dolce and Gabbana's S/S 2011 collection involved a lot of play with white lace.

White connotates the innocence theme, whilst lace is associated with the lingerie/naughty theme. Thus, this S/S trend highlights the modern innocent theme with a 'naughty' verge. This tempting look can be found in many high-street stores, and whilst it is extremly comfortable to be in it is also alluring and trendy.

The street look: Tamara Webb, a young talented photographer wears this trend to perfection. Bliss!

So move your butt, and grab something lacey white for the Summer season!

Rosa Baiano per Artigli :)

Most Maltese tend to watch Italian television, mainly due to the fact that this shoe-form country is considered as our 'neighbour'. Thus, many of us know Rosa Baiano, this year's participant in Italy's most watch reality show: Grande Fratello.

This beautiful Italian, after becoming famous thanks to Mediaset, had the opportunity to do the fashion shoot for Artigli's Summer 2011 Collection. This brand is not only famous in Italy but is also known for its attracting style even here in Malta.

In fact, la signorina Baiano looked breath-taking in Artigli's summer clothes!
My favourite has got to be this one:

The Summer 2011 collection worn by Rosa Baiano will be in the Gozo store this weekend. Be sure to check it out - I know I will not miss an opportunity to get my hands on this maxi dress:
