In Cyprus we all want to shout how patriots we are. Every day, every hour we argue who's more and who's less. There is a constant fight of who is going to hold the flag of patriotism.

It is of no surprise that the parliament is going to vote in favour of a "National Solitary Fund". It sounds well to the ears of the modern Cypriots. "It is a patriotic movement and whoever votes for it is a patriot! Who ever votes for it is doing only good to the nation".

I cannot help it to ask whether or not this is a reflection of our nations pathetic complexes and fears.

A Christmas Present

For those of us who are employed, this Christmas in Cyprus we are getting as present a reduction of our salaries. For the rest of us without a job position we are getting a wish for a job in more than two years time (especially if the state is the only real employer e.g. teachers and so on). And that is because the economy of Cyprus is strong enough to "stay untouched by the global economic crisis". Let the celebration begin.. ..for those of us who can afford it.. For the rest of us lets hope our parents are patient and capable enough to keep hosting us, feeding us and maintaining us. Otherwise lets hope that the rest of the European community will be gentle with us when we seek for job opportunities there.

"...Εν τω μεταξύ, δύο Ιταλοί δήμαρχοι, ο Μάρκο Γκάλντι της κωμόπολης Κάβα Ντέι Τιρένι, έξω από το Σαλέρνο της Νότιας Ιταλίας και ο Τζοβάνι Μοσκατιέλο της Μπαρονίσι αποφάσισαν χωριστά να προσφέρουν το μισθό τους (1.100 και 780 ευρώ αντίστοιχα) για τη στήριξη του ελληνικού λαού.

Η καταβολή του μισθού του Γκάλντι υπέρ της Ελλάδας θα ξεκινήσει από αυτόν τον μήνα. Στην επιστολή του, ο Ιταλός δήμαρχος αναφέρει:

Why are you happy? (or why aren't you?)

I watched this really interresting talk today:

It made a lot of sense and has potentially explained why most people are finding it easier moving on / feeling happier after loosing something they wanted / or not getting what they wanted.

However some find it hard to find happiness. Being too ambitious is meant to be a good thing but does it come with a price?

I would like to know your opinion on this. Do you agree with what is said in the talk? Can you relate to one group or the other?

Hello deadline, nice to meet you! I don't think we've been formally introduced. I'm Mega Prograstinator and I'm very happy to finally get to talk to you. I know, I know, I hate blind dates too, but hey we're here but let's make the most of it, despite the awkwardness. So, my friend Lazy Ass mentioned that you're really into punctuality. Can I ask you something? Why? I mean, isn't punctuality an internal thing? If you're OK with the timing, isn't that punctuality that's true to yourself? Why are you shaking your head so vehemently, relax. All I'm saying is, that it's good to let go. I don't ever wear a watch even -- I'm not a slave to time. Oh, I'm sorry I didn't realize that you'd be so offended with my lateness. I was pretty proud of myself for remembering that today is Friday; after all, I hardly keep track of days. What's the point? They're all the same anyway right? OK, OK, I'll change the topic.

So where do you hang out? Oh at Post-It! I kinda hate that place -- it's full of people worrying about insignificant things. Oh, yes, I see. So are you turned on by people enumerating things to do? Really?! I'd rather watch 3 non-stop hours of YouTube videos than go to that bar. Sure, it's fun. I do it with Lazy Ass all the fucking time. It's a riot. Don't even get me started on the fun we have commenting on them on Facebook! You use the events function only on Facebook? Nah, I never reply. I show up if I feel like it, whatever time. It still works all the same. What's that? An urgent call you need to take? Sure, go ahead.

What do you mean you need to go, we're hanging out here, chillaxin'... Oh I'm sorry to hear that. No I don't know any Dignity or Responsibility, they're not in my circle. I just saw this awesome app on iphone that made me want it so badly! It is a simple idea, that's the best part of it! It is called Everyday and it makes it easy to make videos of your self by putting together pictures of yourself everyday.. It helps you align your face with the one you had before and notifies you everyday to take the picture.. One week/month/year later you will have this video of yourself with all these different backgrounds :P funny!

The creator in an interview for Co.Design said: "I just wanted to make it easier for someone who can't just point a camera at themselves and guess the framing, or a forgetful person."

The difficult part when you are making these kind of videos it to ensure that your face in every picture is framed perfectly. This is what the app really does..

Too shame the front camera of an iphone (like every phone) is crap. Make a video with that one and you will never be able to show it on a big screen without embarrassment!
