The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP continues to investigate the case of two deceased puppies found on a pedestrian path in the city in August.

A necropsy performed on August 14 confirmed that the puppies died due to human involvement and had suffered significant trauma, according to a press release issued on Monday.

This incident follows the discovery of a dead kitten in Calgary’s Kingsland community on August 12, where peace officers found the animal tied to a fence.

The Calgary Humane Society (CHS) launched an investigation following the incident. A necropsy revealed that the kitten had suffered blunt force trauma to the head and abdomen.

This case follows a troubling trend, as the CHS has discovered six kittens in varying states of distress since May.
