Sri Lanka win their 1st T-20 match against Australia last night. Tillakaratne Dilshan achieved two objectives when he scored an unbeaten 104 off 57 balls in the first T-20 International against Australia at the Pallekele Stadium. He not only scored his first maiden T20 century but also get man-of-the match award also.
Eventually Sri Lanka beat Australia by 35 runs in emphatic fashion to take a 1-0 lead in the short two-match series. Dilshan was not alone in helping Sri Lanka to an imposing total of 198-3 as he forged partnerships of 52 off 42 balls with Kumar Sangakkara (30) and an unbroken 104 off 45 balls with Jeevan Mendis (29 not out), who seems to be improving with every game.
Australia were strangled by Lankan spinners as they were restricted to 163-8 with only David Warner making any impression with 52 off 31 balls (2 sixes, 6 fours). Off-spinner Dilruwan Perera made a dream debut taking a wicket off his first over (trapping Shaun Marsh lbw) and then going onto to bowl David Hussey and skipper Cameron White to end with figures of 3 for 26. Left-armer Rangana Herath also bowled tightly as the asking rose to astronomical proportions picking up the wicket of Steve Smith for figures of one for 11.

At last Uruguay wins copa cup 2011. At 8pm by the British Summer Time the Final match was started. It really is summer out there in that time and the 2011 Copa America final is underway, the kick-off greeted by a primal roar from their supporters. Zeballos finds room on the right side of the area, but Coates defends superbly, although he can't prevent the corner, which is a waste of time anyway.

After 12 min Uruguay have started this match superbly, Paraguay have been a rabble. Given the way they have defended in this tournament though, the manner of this goal comes as a surprise though. The defending was appalling. It all came from a harmless long ball lobbed into the area. Veron won the first header, but didn't get much distance on it. After a bit of scrapping outside the area, eventually Maxi Pereira tried to volley it back into the box. His effort took a huge deflection and suddenly fell to the feet of the unmarked Suarez on the right side of the area. With a clear sight of goal, he superbly sold Veron a dummy, ducking inside and then hitting a low shot towards the right corner. His shot took a big deflection off Veron's knee though, leaving the statuesque Villar helpless as the ball spiraled into the opposite corner, but Uruguay deserve that slice of luck.

Uruguay are closing in on a record 15th Copa America title now. Paraguay were their own worst enemies here, stroking the ball around aimlessly at the back. Facing his own goal and with no idea what was going on behind him, Ortigoza dawdled on the ball just outside the area. The excellent Arevalo Rios was quickly all over him, and once he pinched the ball, there was inevitability to this. Paraguay were caught woefully short as Arevalo shuffled the ball to the left for Forlan, who caught the ball perfectly with his left foot, his shot from 15 yards out whistling past the exposed Villar, who must be wondering why he bothers. What a marvelously clean strike.

At the ending moment of the game How fitting that Diego Forlan should put the seal on Uruguay's 15th Copa America title. And what an exquisite counter-attacking goal as well. After Paraguay's corner was cleared, Uruguay broke, Cavani set clear on the left. He had both Suarez and Forlan to pick out, and decided to pick out the former, clipping the ball to his right. Instead of taking it on, Suarez unselfishly just cushioned a sublime header through to Forlan - rather like Dennis Bergkamp's assist for Patrick Kluivert against Argentina in 1998 - and the striker strolled through and rolled a classy finish past Villar and into the bottom-right corner.

Uruguay beats Peru and reach Copa America Final

With Argentina and Brazil out, Uruguay were the new favorites to win the 2011 Copa America and clinch their 15th title. They were dominant throughout the semi-final and made sure they did not bottle the chance to go all the way. Uruguay reached the Copa America final with a 2-0 win over Peru to book a showdown with either giant killers Venezuela or Paraguay.
Liverpool star Suarez caused the Peru defence problems early on with his typical intelligent movement. Firstly, he was denied the chance to be through on goal after receiving the ball in space and taking on the defender, however the assistant flagged for a foul. Then shortly after he found some space again after a Forlan free kick, but sliced the volley wide.
It was all Uruguay in the first 15 minutes, with Peru seemingly sitting back waiting for the opportune moment. Maxi Pereira was finding space down the right hand side causing problems, whilst the Peru ‘keeper Fernandez was causing himself problems. He failed to deal with a cross from the right, and Alvaro Pereira was there to pounce, but the Peruvian goalkeeper managed to pull off the point blank save.
Peru’s first chance came after 24 minutes when Juan Vargas was released down the left and whipped in a low cross, but neither Guerrero or Advincula could get the crucial touch to guide it home. Alvaro Pereira slid in to clear, another showing of impressive defending from the Porto wing back. Uruguay had a goal ruled out just before half time when Forlan knocked in a long free kick, which was hindered on by Lugano toward Alvaro Pereira, but the defender had drifted offside and the linesman’s flag went up immediately.
Suarez said that It was a very tough game in the first half and we lacked a little clarity though we kept trying to make chances.
The Uruguayans remained dominant after the interval and were finally reward with a goal shortly after half time. Forlan cut inside and shot from 30 yards, which was saved and spilled by Fernandez only for Suarez to pounce on the rebound. 1-0 and Uruguay were heading for the final.
Peru needed to bounce back soon, but were never given the chance. The high line of the Peru defence were punished by a fantastic pass long ball from Alvaro Pereira, which was controlled nicely by Luis Suarez. The Liverpool striker took it pass the incoming Fernandez and slotted home neatly into the open goal. 2-0 and it was looking like game over for the Peruvians.
Matters got a lot worse for Peru when their captain and most influential player Juan Vargas was sent off for an elbow on Coates. A deliberate elbow deserving of the red card, but it happened just moments after Lugano escaped with booking after a not so different offence.
Peru still managed to step it up a gear with 10 men in search of at least one goal back to make things interesting. They were seeing more of the ball, but were still vulnerable at the back. The fresh legs of Hernandez, who was brought on for Suarez, threatened with a shot after cutting inside but his effort was straight at the ‘keeper.
The 10 men of Peru were almost gifted a goal shortly after when Guerrero’s shot from range was fumbled by Muslera, but the Uruguay goalkeeper was able to recover the ball before it rolled over the line.
Despite any last ditch efforts from Peru, Uruguay closed out the 2-0 victory to reach the final of the 2011 Copa America where they will be looking to win a record 15th title. Peru go home but can certainly be proud with reaching the Semi finals of the tournament, surpassing most people’s expectations.

The Estadio Mario Kempes exploded with shouts from the Paraguayan fans, who comfortably outnumbered the Brazil contingent in the terraces. Menezes threw on young Lucas Moura in an effort to kick-start his lacklustre team, but there was no way through a resilient rival defence. With just minutes left on the clock, however, substitute Fred picked up Ganso's ball and drove in from the edge of the box, breaking the hearts of the Paraguay support and saving a point for Brazil.

Brazil remains level with the Paraguayans on two points in Group B, and Venezuela or Ecuador could go top if either manages to record a win in Salta.

With Mexico effectively fielding an Olympic side for this Copa America, they perhaps come into this game as slight underdogs despite looking impressive in their opening loss to Chile. Giovanni dos Santos will once again be the main man for Mexico but he will have a tough time against Peru's excellent defense.
An interesting point will be what formation Luis Fernando Tena will use against Peru. Against Chile, Mexico went with a 5-3-2 formation, which was used to counter the attacking flare of the young and talented Chilean team. Perhaps though Mexico will switch to 4 at the back due to Peru being without most of their star attackers for this tournament, Jefferson Farfan and Claudio Pizarro miss the Copa America due to injury. A similar fate almost meant that Peru's goal scorer against Uruguay, Paolo Guerrero, could have also missed the competition but he managed to recover in time and now becomes Peru's main man up front.

Peru will be hoping that Juan Manuel Vargas will be fit enough to start this game, after coming on off of the bench against Uruguay in the last game. Should Vargas play he will most likely be facing the right back, Paul Aguilar, who is one of the few Mexican players to have also been a part of the 2010 World Cup squad. Argentina again failed to impress as they were held to a second consecutive draw in the Copa America against Colombia.Host nation Argentina's Copa America campaign is yet to spark after a 0-0 draw against Colombia in the Group A clash. The draw left Argentina second in the table, with just two points behind leaders Colombia who have four. Although Sergio Batista's men did the majority of work, Colombia had the better chances with Dayro Moreno and Gustavo Ramos guilty of missing easy chances. Moreno’s cross found Ramos in front of goal, but the strikers shacked his shot over from just yards out. Moreno's miss was more shocking. It came after a defensive mix-up when Gabriel Milito's woeful back pass ended up at Ramos' feet. He managed to round the keeper although Nicolas Burdisso offset him with a tackle. The ball fell to Moreno who was just eight yards out, with an open goal glaring in front of him. His side foot, however, went into the side-netting. Argentina did have their chances as Ezequiel Lavezzi saw Luis Martinez deny his effort after Lionel Messi's had put him through. After the break, Carlos Tevez dragged his shot wide, while Pablo Armero also came close.However, the game ended goalless in a result which leaves Colombia with a two point lead at the top of the table. Argentina's campaign is yet to spark and if they'll hope to get back on tract in their next match against Costa Rica.

Carlos Tevez repeated his wish to leave City for family reasons. In an interview with The Daily Mail he saying, "It is with great regret that I have to inform Manchester City of my wish to leave the club. I would like to state that I have great respect for the club."

The 27-year-old, who joined City from rivals Manchester United in 2009, stated he cannot continue to live in the North West without his daughters. He said, "I need to be closer to my family and to spend more time with them,Living without my children in Manchester has been incredibly challenging for me. Everything I do, I do for my daughters. I need them to be happy because my life is about them now. I need to be in a place where they can adapt. I hope that the people understand the difficult situation I have been living under the past 12 months, in regards to my family."

Tevez, who signed a five-year contract with City upon his £25.5m move from Old Trafford, thanked the club's hierarchy for their support and asked for fans to empathies with his personal predicament."It is with great regret that I have to inform Manchester City of my wish to leave the club," added Tevez, who is currently on international duty with hosts Argentina in the Copa America.

They have just an under-22 team at the tournament, but they scored in the first half to take a lead and for all of their issues in the attack, they have a strong defense. That defense couldn't hold up to the second half Chile onslaught thought as the Chileans came back to grab a 2-1 win over Mexico to jump to the top of Group C.
With the win, Chile moves to the top fo Group C with three points, while Mexico are at bottom. Uruguay and Peru sit in the middle with a point apiece. Chile will play their next Copa America match against Uruguay on July 8 in Mendoza, while Mexico will take on Peru, also in Mendoza on July 8.

Venezuela delivered the surprise of day two of Copa America as they managed to hold Brazil to a scoreless draw .If the first three days of Copa America have taught us anything it is that we have no idea what to expect. The tournament started with hosts Argentina having to scrap and claw for a draw against Bolivia. That was a shocker, no doubt, but the Argentinean are prone to head-scratching performances. Brazil? They're the sure thing. They're the dominant team in South America, having won four of the last five Copa Americas. On Sunday though, Brazil wasn't the sure thing as Venezuela stymied the Selecao attack to get a 0-0 draw in the opening match of Group B.

Brazil started the game lively and almost got the opener in the first minute of the game when Robinho was released outside the box, but saw his finish saved by Vega in goal for Venezuela. Moments later Pato was flagged for offside just as he was about to finish past the goalkeeper after a through-ball by Neymar. Brazil was utterly dominant in the first half and only Lady Luck kept Venezuela from going down multiple goals. Multiple times it looked as if the Brazilians had a clear crack at goal only to see the shot take a slight deflection and end up in the stands. Pato ripped a shot from 15 yards that had the goalkeeper just watching in awe, but the shot rattled the crossbar and bounced away harmlessly. In the final attack of the first period Neymar missed a great chance as he fired high from inside the box under no pressure at all. The tempo dropped in the second half as both teams started playing defensively, waiting for a chance to hit on counter. Brazil in particular was lacking the urgency they had in the early minutes of the game, and did not look like a team chasing the three points The first real opportunity after the break came to Brazil when in the 55th minute Pato superbly released himself with back heel in the centre of the box, but Vega rushed off his line and claimed the ball ahead of the striker.

Meanwhile, Venezuela put a little but more liveliness in their attack. They were cautious and picked their spots, but twice almost scored on crosses that just barely missed a streaking attacker. In the end, Brazil was forced into long balls to no one in particular. Venezuela may have been lucky to escape the first half unscathed, but they were solid in the second half and did their bit to earn a shocking 0-0 draw.

Brazil will continue their Copa America on July 9 in Cordoba against Paraguay, while Venezuela will face Ecuador on the same day in Salta. Brazil and Venezuela each have one point in Group B now, while Paraguay and Ecuador will play Sunday evening to kick off their tournaments.

We did not have much spark. Costa Rica reduced the spaces and it cost us and finally I asked the team to hold the result because three points are most important for us. Costa Rica has a great coach, an old fox. It's a team with great order and they know how to make things complicated, but we were humble and we move forward. Colombia's next group game is on Tuesday against hosts Argentina, who needed an equalizer from Sergio Aguero to salvage a draw in their opening match against Bolivia.

WIMBLEDON, England: It was all about the serves at Wimbledon Thursday, and it was Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova who survived the ups and downs on Centre Court to reach the final. The fifth-seeded Sharapova, who won the first of her three Grand Slam titles at the All England Club in 2004, overcame 13 double-faults to beat Sabine Lisicki 6-4, 6-3. Kvitova reached her first major final by hitting nine aces in a 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 wins over Victoria Azarenka.
Sharapova had two double-faults in her opening service game, the second to get broken. She had two more while trailing 3-0, but saved a break point and then won 12 of the final 16 games.
“She played really well and I did quite the opposite,” Sharapova said. “It was tough. I just had to stay focused. I got back on track and just remained really focused throughout the rest of the match.”
“All matches it was around both serves, so I’m very happy my serve was good in the third set,” said Kvitova, who had never won a match on grass before last year’s tournament, when she reached the semifinals. “Grass is my favorite surface.” Kvitova was playing in only her second major semifinal, and she dictated the play throughout the match.
