I've used something similar to this on my SB-600 flash to help diffuse the light from the flash and to help increase the amount of light as well. Having more surface area for the flash to bounce off of coming right out of the flash can sometimes be helpful.

Here's the new Nikon SB-N5 flash I got for the Nikon V1. It's a cute little guy!...and very functional.

Yes, it even tilts up 90 degrees and turns 180 degrees left or right!

I awoke this morning to a frost covered landscape. I waited for the sun to begin to rise and then went outside to see what was sparkling in the morning sun. There was plenty sparkling, but a Japanese red maple always catches my eye in a situation like this. It's beautiful :-)
