Hi there!
Long time no see! I have been away for about 6 months... That is a looooong time. In blogging-terms I do not exist anymore. I doubted quite for some time if I still wanted to be a blogger. Bloggers are sometimes seen as greedy girls with a sick obsession of clothes, to own them, to get them for free, to get the newest things first. I do like clothes, I do like to know what's going on in the fashion world. I do have some friends working in the fashion industry. But I do not want to be seen as greedy. That made me doubt the whole blogging thing. Now I realized I'm just not that person that a lot of people think bloggers are. I'm just a girl with a job in healthcare; earning my own money, happen to like clothes and fashion and weird wearable objects. And I love expressing myself through how I look. I like to shock some of my colleagues ones in a while when I arrive in the morning. I like to combine things that do not seem to match at first. That's why I started blogging in the first place. That's why my blog felt as my own weird little fashionable place. Where I could express myself better online than that I do offline (white uniform during the weekdays...). So for now I say: I'm back! I would like to share with you whatever things I like and wear.
To come back to the above photo; the drawing is me. The very talented Sella Molenaar made a drawing of me at the Isabel Marant for H&M event the day before it went on sale. (Yes, no blogging but still a fashion lover, so ahead in line!) She made it only in 5 minutes! I was amazed by the way it looks really like me! Thanks Stella, love your work!

Today is the day I turned 30. Today is the day my twenties are over. Twenties were great for blogging, I hope in my thirties the blogging will continue this way.

One of the last days of May I went to the release party of the 'Staring is Caring' skirt designed by Supertrash designer Olcay Gulsen in collaboration with Stop Aids Now. I love the fact you can buy a fashionable (and comfortable!) piece and all of the profit goes to a project for woman with HIV in Godino in Ethiopia.

Together with tv personality Tess Milne and Anna Nooshin of the website NSMBL, Olcay launched the project to raise money for woman to start their own business. The skirt you can buy at the website of Supertrash or in a Supertrash store in the Netherlands or Belgium for only 29,95 euros!

In the above pictures I'm wearing the skirt in my own way. For me the skirt is perfect to wear to a festival! The cardigan I'm wearing is from one of my favourite new shops in Amsterdam: NR9 at Herenstraat 18. They sell Dutch brands and international brands, very comfortable, very colourful, so very me! This Minkpink cardigan I will be wearing all summer long during chilly summer nights (and days)!

The insipration for this outfit is Michael Jackson. The patent leather shoes I found in London at Topshop, at the J.W. Anderson collection, and immediately reminded me of the King of Pop. What better way to combine the shoes with a high water pants and some literally 'all eyes on me' socks. The necklace was a gift of the boyfriend. It's from Tatty Devine, they have a really nice website where you can order online name necklaces, necklaces with animals and flowers and other prints, and wonder around for hours...

I don't like to wear outfits with all jeans or all black or all white. But if the jeans shirt and pants have different colours and odd shapes I do like it. Although for me an outfit feels plain jane when only wearing jeans even in odd shapes, so a touch a smurf blue is very appropiate in my eyes. How do you pimp up plain jane outfits?

Oh my God! Pop art has introduced its way into fashion! The BAM's and TRASH's and pop art drawings fly around your ears. Since wintery temperatures didn't leave Holland yet I still wear some knits and wool jumpers now and then. I found this skirt at the second-hand market IJ-hallen a year ago, didn't know how to combine it then. Now I know! Print-on-print for me is the best way to show off the different prints. It's the best way to hypnotize people I guess.

Did you ever wonder why the pop art drawings with skin made off little red squares look so real and appealing? I did. How come such geometrical drawings can appear human? When you read about pop art and Roy Lichtenstein, you can find that pop art was a way of making fun of mass consumption. The purpose was to emphasize the banality of any given mass culture. Now my question; how come mass consumption uses drawings on their products that makes fun of their own mass consumption? I think it's a genius way of self-deprecating!

The temperatures in Holland went up last week and now down again this week. Just when I felt like shaving my legs, wear tights instead of leggings, wear colour instead of black and blue, the snow kicks back in... Yesterday I went shopping with the boyfriend and it was raining all day. I was wearing a yellow outfit and somehow the rain did not bother me that much. So my very scientific conclusion is: wear yellow during bad weather and feel so much happier! Especially the yellow Hell O s weater of Bas Kosters gives a smile on your face! Is that why smileys are yellow?

The first line of the song 'Feel my love' of Adele says:'When the rain is blowing in your face, and the whole world is on your case, I could offer you a warm embrace, to make you feel my love'. I was thinking Adele wears a lot of black. What if she would wear yellow? Would she feel the rain much less as a whole world on her case? Would her songs change a bit more positively if she wears colours more often? I changed her song a bit into yellow-toned than black-toned to make you feel my yellow love!

As you could see on my last blogpost I went to London fashion week, to the show of Bas Kosters, called: The Rebellious Shadow. To this show I wore, ofcourse, a Bas Kosters outfit! I'm very into all-over-prints at the moment. This shirt and legging are from his previous show at Amsterdam Fashion Week; 1,2 tree. I like how the two prints of the legging are different on both legs on front and back side. To match my hair with the rebellious theme of Bas his London show I made a mohawk of buns.

During trips I always have to leave my cat behind at home (also called Bas, by coincidence), but with this sweet cat-bag I don't feel that much pet-less.

How to wear low budget snow boots?

Those last days of winter are the ugliest. When Spring collections pop up everywhere but snow and ice are still the everyday weather. How lovely those cute spring shoes look, I will be wearing my snow boots just a little longer. Snow boots are for sale in different prize ranges, shapes, of different brands and all kinds of materials and colours. For me a snow boot does not have to be from a big brand, it has to keep me warm, fit with different outfits and make sure I don't loose grip and fall on my butt in the snow.
These low budget snow boots I am wearing are from Gamma, a Dutch hardware store. Not really a fashionable place to shop, but these snow boots are convenient, comfortable and with the black and white they are very wearable with a lot of outfits!

In the pictures I am wearing leggings of Dutch designer Bas Kosters, one combined with Bas Kosters sweater and the other with a vintage black knit sweater. The beanie with stud crosses of Yep Collection and the POC snow goggles makes the outfit look very winter sport fähig and ready for some ski action!

I will be visiting London Fashion Week to attend a presentation of Bas Kosters this weekend! So stay tuned for a report of this happy event!

Friday the show of Gsus sindustries was on the programme of AFW. (Pictures will follow later.) To the show I was wearing the Antoine Peters for Gsus men's shirt and the bowtie of their last collaboration. Antoine Peters himself also wore his shirt and bowtie but in a different manner. Do you remember the Charlotte Kan dress

which I wore in 5different manners? Well I found a sixth: as a skirt! The bowtie keeps the skirt perfectly in place. I finished my outfit of with a gold with white stones necklace of Yep Collection and the nude coloured legging and nude coloured heels of the H&M Maison Martin Margiela collection. I got a lot of compliments on this outfit that day, even of the styling Master himself, CarloWijnands, hope you like it too!

AFW Favorites so far: the angry lamb and the beanie bowler hat

These two are my favourites so far for Amsterdam Fashion Week: the angry lamb in the first photo and the beanie bowler hat in the second. This collection is of Marije de Haan. Inspired by sailors, the collection in off-white and black was small, but very detailed. Although it is a men's collection I would love to own some pieces! On the floor were keys, which made a lovely sound when the crowd entered the room and walked on the keys or by coincidence kicked them away.

Yesterday I went to &Foam for the booksigning and Q&A with The Sartorialist! Fortunately I was quick enough to stand almost in front of the line with the booksigning, so no long waiting for me! I had four books to sign, so I had some time to talk to him as well. He asked who my favourite designer is and my answer was; Joline Jolink, of who I was wearing a pretty jumpsuit at the moment, and I had her book signed. One of my favourite items above is the Antoine Peters gentlemen shirt with bows.(available here!) I wore it this Christmas with a suit, with a red long skirt and with a black short skirt and white jacket.

New Look SS 2013

Last Friday I went to the presentation of the Spring/ Summer 2013 collection of New Look. While outside it was snowing and freezing in Amsterdam, inside it was cosy and warm with a collection with beautiful colours, patterns and thin fabrics. The themes were: Pagan cowgirl, Pleasantville and Eastern trail. My favourite item is this black shirt with a print, looking a bit like the out of space Balenciaga sweater. I think the collection is best worn when combining items of the different themes all together. The last two photos are from the male collection, the tiger shirt and printed blouse are also wearable for women I think. This collection will make an interesting summer!

Play&Pose with Charlotte Kan

This week I did a Play&Pose with Charlotte Kan! With a red dress of her collection I made 5 different looks, by changing the dress; with a knot, backwards, sideways etc. I made 5 different looks with just one outfit. My answer on her blog to the question: Tell us something about how you combined the Charlotte Kan garment:
'The Charlotte Kan garment I’m wearing is a dress which you can knot in different ways. I think Charlotte makes a lot of nice pieces which you can wear at different manners. I love to look at her videos‘ how to wear it’. Immediately the dress reminded me of pieces of Maison Martin Margiela. They also make fashion pieces with a twist, for example a bag that looks like a candy wrapper. I combined Charlottes dress with all Maison Martin Margiela for H&M items, the items only stayed the same, and the dress is worn in a different ways. Every time with another twist.'

Yesterday I had a great time at the HTNK one day shop at Trouw! The one day shop organised by HTNK is held twice per year, remember I was there 6 months ago? I spend the whole afternoon shopping with a friend, looking for great sales of great designers. Bas Kosters is always one of my favourite designers at this day. A few weeks ago he also opened a shop in the 9 straatjes! His shop is in Le Souk, Wolvenstraat 5, Amsterdam. I bought some Bas Kosters items yesterday as shown above. Furthermore I bought 3 items of Charlotte Kan. Recently I did a collaboration with her, so stay tuned for next weeks post!

I found these warm and very comfy shoes of local design Locals AMS, these will definitely will keep me warm this winter! Accessories that I bought: a cute necklace of Martine Viergever, and a cat ring by Naked Design, which will glow in the dark. The lovely designer of Naked Design let me know that the profits of the rings she sells go to animal shelters, meow!

I do not like November. I think it is the ugliest month of the year. I never know what to wear in November. I bought tons of winter clothes but November is not cold enough for wool and too cool for one layer of cotton. November is the month I always get ill. I did get ill this week. And while being ill at home I did not pay attention while cutting bread, hence the bandaged finger.

After that incident I am even more done with November. I can't grow a moustache to make it a cool and groovy Movember, so I'm giving the finger to November! A bandaged finger! And what better way to grow a fake moustache...
