I knew I was going to go the shorter distance in my walk/run. This morning I had some company, a rafter of turkeys! Yes, a rafter - I looked it up.

There were at least 10 of them although some were camera shy. (I bring my phone with me when I walk/run in case I need assistance...and to track my workouts)

So feeling good and hoping my knee gets stronger as I walk more. Next planned walk/run is Friday morning. In the afternoon I'll be leaving to visit a friend in NJ for a couple of days. Just an update though, I finished my C25K training program, all except for running a 5K with others. Once I finished though I injured my knee, not running but twisting it from getting up from a chair.
The weather was hot and humid so I took a couple of weeks to recupe and last Saturday started all over again. I am going to listen to what my body says and if I can will push through faster than the program says originally. I am supposed to walk run 3 times a week and do each session 3 times but I am thinking of doing each session onlytwice then the third day moving on, if my body is saying yes.
WW is working...it's slow and slower with no exercise but it's working for me. From my top weight from when I was ill last winter to now I am down 20 lbs! Yes!
I'd like to post some of my fav recipes that get me through this new way of eating.

Well that's it for today. Stay tuned and I'll try to remember to post...

A few things have changed since I was last here. I am now on a life changing plan. Maybe that's what was stirring inside me, knowing I needed to make a change in my life. I was unhappy with me and how I felt, especially after having surgery so I started Weight Watchers online and it's been a slow process but the weight coming off. 9 lbs so far!
I knew I couldn't just watch the food though so the biggest change in my life has been the exercise. I started the C25K walking/running program. Couch 2 a 5K. Yep, I was a couch potato and now I am running! Feels great. I am following the program as it's slow and steady increases of running times till all you do is run. So far no injuries and I feel smaller. I have a long ways to go...I am very slow but working on endurance and losing the weight. I hope to do a 5K in the fall.

I also started a container garden this year. Fresh veggies and herbs out on my deck. Here's a begining picture. I'll have to update with a new one soon, everything is growing great! And I've added a few more plants.
Well that's what's new with me. I hope to update on a more consistant basis...we'll see.

Just not sure what to blog about...alot of things going on in my head now that the surgery is over. I've had lots of interesting dreams lately too.
The b-day is coming up in a couple of weeks and as I get older I re-evaluate my life each year. Last year at this time I was planning and looking forward to my vacation with my daughter. This year I haven't planned anything yet for sure but things are in the works for a short get-away to visit a good friend in TN. She moved and I miss her.

Lately I feel like "something" is stirring. Not positive what it is yet, but hoping and thinking it's a good thing. I am looking forward to Spring's arrival and the longer and warmer days. Looking forward to driving with the top down on my car and going for roadtrips again. Part of this stirring may be a little of cabin fever as well. The longer than expected recovery from surgery and many days of doing nothing...now that I feel better I want to do something - other than housework and work. Don't get me wrong, I love my job (most days) but there must be more. I guess I lack in the social aspects of my life.

Have any good ideas on getting out there and meeting new people?
Anyone there?
Anyone listening?
I guess it's not really "under the knife" as it will be done laparoscopicaly - however you spell it.
I'm not as concerned about it as I was earlier. I know the night before may be a challenge. Hopefully I will sleep well.

Yesterday was a phone day for me. I think everyone who has been praying for me or concerned called me on the phone @ work! Didn't feel like I got a whole lot accomplished but it was nice to have people call me with their concerns.

Today I received a visitor with some no fat yogurt and a card with a giftcard attached for Whole Foods. This was soooooo appreciated!!! I was planning on cleaning the fridge this weekend and now I can fill it up, as well as my freezer to be prepared for a week at home to recover, although I believe some friends will be preparing meals for me as well. Interesting to see what they come up with since my diet is so restricted.

I have been so busy with work and the holidays. Now that that is all over I am faced with a new adventure. After 2 nights of extreme pain in my upper abdomen. I finally went to the Dr. - walk-in clinic. As I suspected I have gall bladder issues - runs in the family.
I have been scheduled to have my gallbladder removed on Feb. 10th. Not looking forward to it. I will be in bed - out of work, for a week or so to recover. In the meantime I am on a restricted diet. I have been on no fats (animal) no spices and after doing research found out other foods I should avoid. I also am on high fiber. I am so glad I like to cook and can cook to make my diet a little more interesting. More later...

It was great to get some extra time off from the boss for the holidays since I worked through the weekend last week.

The first day consisted of cleaning and more cleaning, organizing the apartment. Things I never seem to have time to do. I think I physically worked harder that day than I do at work in the office - I KNOW I did.

The next day was Thanksgiving. The kids (2 out of 3) were late getting prepared - getting out of bed, showering for one, the other was cooking massive amounts of sausage stuffing and ricing potatoes. We were 2 hours late - yes, 2! As soon as we walked in the door grace was said and food was devoured.

It was great to have the kids all together for the holiday but I miss the leftover turkey, etc. that comes with cooking a Thanksgiving dinner. No turkey sandwiches (my fav) and no turkey soup.

Black Friday was rainy and I had no plans to fight traffic or bodies so I could spend money. I had planned on visiting my mother but she said the weather was too nasty for me to drive in. I would have made the trip but was expecting a package delivery and with one more day off before working Sunday decided she was right so I stayed home. The 44 lb package was delivered and I hauled it up my stairs and put together the TV stand I ordered for my TV. I put it together myself and felt very accomplished especially since the directions said it was a 2-man job - well this 1 woman did a 2 man job! :)

After making stuffed chicken breasts and a pie the previous evening I had my visit with mom. My cell phone kept ringing which is unusual for me. First news that a friend's mom passed away, the next about 30 minutes or less later was that my boss was in the hospital :(. you know how they say things go in 3's. I was hoping the next phone call wasn't something else. It was my boss calling from the hospital with instructions for the next few days while he is out of commission. He was in great spirits and had minor surgery today and is doing fine.

All that to say you just never know what life is going to bring you but isn't that the way life is?
