Chevrolet New MPV Review    General Motors had announced that it will  launch a few products from the SAIC Motor stable. To start off with,  they will launch vehicles from the Wilung line-up which includes the  CN-100 which is likely to compete with the Mahindr Xylo.

The new  CN-100 is likely to be priced between Rs 5-7lakh and will be  manufactured in GM’s Talegaon plant. This is expected to be powered by  the 1.3-litre multijet engine and since it is sourced from China, the  production cost is expected to be low. 

The MPV will be 7-8  seater and can be great competition for the Xylo considering its  pricing. Looking at the pictures of the interior, one can see it has  black and beige dual tone interiors and an aftermarket stereo. It rides  on 175/65/R14 tyres and it gets features like power windows and the  ORVMS are manually-adjustable. 

We believe the CN-100 has  flexible rear seating as the second and third row of seats can be folded  flat. GM might target the passenger and taxi market with the MPV and we  expect the car to be launched by the end of this year.

The new generation Swift  is wider and longer than the soon to be outgoing model and the same  changes will be implied on the DZire as well.

Hyundai New Sonata Review          After the launch of the new  Verna, Hyundai is aiming at launching most of its new cars in India.  Hence the decision to launch the Sonata is not a surprise. The Sonata  features Hyundai’s  modern fluidic design philosophy and hence features a  large chrome grille and massive projector headlamps. The coupe like  theme continues and so does the large wraparound tail lamps. Inside, the  theme is luxury with leather wrapping everything and cool blue mood  lighting. Electric and optional heated seats are also available and so  will features like cruise control. Powering the Sonata will be a  2.4-litre petrol offering 198bhp on tap with a diesel option following  suit.

Volkswagen New Touareg Review    Volkswagen had unveiled the second-generation  of the Touareg at 2010 New York International Auto Show. With the  Volkswagen Touareg being a CBU, even India will get the 2011 Touareg  once its launched in the European market. 

Design/Styling:

The  2011 Touareg gets the new Volkswagen face and styling created by Walter  de’Silva, Volkswagen’s chief of design. The front grille is now narrow  if compared to the outgoing model and the trapezoidal headlamps even get  the LED surrounds.  The silhouette of the Touareg remains almost  similar, with not so arched wheel flares.  The new 2011 Touareg gets a  crown hood with a step at its sides giving it a more muscular look. The  SUV gets chrome garnish with chrome surrounds around the greenhouse and a  strip running on the rocker. The rear of the new Touareg is more  pronounced and gets LED taillamps as well. 

Volkswagen's new  RNS850 touch screen entertainment and navigation system features an  8-inch screen, a 60GB hard drive with 18GB of space available to upload  audio, video, and more, and a DVD/CD player with MP3 playback and  Satellite/FM/AM stereo.

Mechanicals:

The Volkswagen  Touareg will be available with the same 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine, with  4-MOTION, which is Volkswagen’s term for all-wheel drive system. 

Overall Evaluation:

This  new 2011 Volkswagen Touareg will be a great buying option considering  all the bells and whistles it comes loaded with. The newer SUV has more  road presence than the older one and should have better sales figures if  compared to the current Touareg. This will come true only if Volkswagen  price it well.

Tata Safari Storme Review    The first Tata Safari was launched in the late  90s and since then it has been the flagship model on Tata Motors, until  lately the Aria was launched in October 2010. The Safari has got two  facelifts and engine changes. Tata Motors had even revealed its plans to  make a new Safari on the newly developed X2 platform, on which the Aria  has been built. However, for the time being the Pimpri-based  manufacturer has given the Safari another facelift. 

This time, the  car gets the 2.2-litre engine from the Aria. The Aria sports the same  Safari engine, but a large number of changes have been made to it in the  refinement and vibrations department before it got plonked into the  crossover. This same refined engine will now come fitted in the facelift  Safari. The Safari will get new headlamps, new front grille and new  hood. The conventional spare wheel has been moved below and it gets dual  exhausts. The interiors have been revamped and it now gets grab door  handles.

This Ferrari V4 superbike concept is just too cool to ignore. Packed  with a modified engine from a Ferrari Enzo, hand controls from a F-16  fighter jet and buttons from a Formula 1 race car, is is a dream  bike....and just a dream unfortunately!

This superbike concept using a modified V12 engine from the Ferrari Enzo supercar, chopped down to four cylinders and modified to drive just one wheel in a motorcycle frame. The V4 superbike features hand controls adapted from an F-16 fighter jet and bottons inspired by steering wheel of Ferrari's Formula 1 racecars. This Ferrari V4 Superbike other features included a all weather touch-screen LCD atop the fuel tank...cool!!!

COOL SNAKE BIKE 

Cool cobra snake concept motorbike by Belgian designer Delussu Bruno. He  gained his inspiration from Daniel Simon, the German concept designer  and a futurist in the automotive department. His visionary book, Cosmic  Motors got him more than just fame. Bruno’s latest concept has earned  the name ‘Snake Road’ since it bears resemblance to a cobra.

The motorbike has a completely closed form of body which improves its interaction with the atmosphere while in movement. The fiberglass finish of the bike gives it a sturdy look and is actually lightweight. But what gives the bike the above said retro look is the traditional speedometer and an engine that is internal combustion. The bike is designed such that the rider needs to lie on the body like on a racing bike rather than sitting upright. Also the rear wheel is twice as thick as the front wheel which gives it a very monstrous look which is what the youth prefer. The one and only disadvantage noticeable is that the bike has no space for a pillion rider.

As cool bikes  go, this  vintage classic BMW R7 concept motorbike is in a league of its own.  Issue #3 of BMW Motorcycle Magazine showcases the amazing R7 concept,  describing it as “one of the most important, innovative and visually  stunning motorcycles ever produced.” We agree. Although this BMW is over  70 years old, it could almost be a contemporary concept. It was shelved  as WWII approached, and put in a box. In 2005, that box was opened, and  BMW Classic started the restoration. 

Think back 70 or 75 years to a time when design began to break away from the traditional and elaborate rationalism that had ensued for hundreds of years. As the styles of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Streamline and Zigzag Moderne emerged after the Industrial Revolution, designers as well as consumers fully embraced the Age of the Machine. Shiny chrome surfaces lay across curving forms or over expansive horizontal planes and glorified a dynamic new world on the move.

And suddenly, design was muted as World War II approached. Inspiration was buried away, along with some innovative and visually stunning design work. Skip ahead to 2005 when some curious members of BMW Classic opened a box and found the R7 bike 75 assembled - although not in shining condition. The engine was corroded, the metalwork was in dire shape, the battery was unusable, but the opportunity for restoration could not be ignored.

Various specialists at the BMW workshop discovered the original design drawings in the archive collections and conjured up the ghosts from Streamline Moderne’s past. Missing parts were sourced, others were rebuilt, the chrome was polished and the frame was painted black. And the final test, retuning the 1934 BMW motorcycle to the street, proved to be worth the wait nearly three quarters of a century later.

With winter upon us, here at cool cars and bikes we like to provide helpful motoring and biking tips and today's article is all about winter proofing your bike 

There are many ways you can winter proof your bike and it’s vital you do so to meet the challenges of the harsh and dangerous winter months.

One thing is absolutely necessary: obtaining a cheap motorcycle insurance policy from a reputable provider like MCE Insurance. After you have this covered, simply follow the ten tips below.

(1) Storage is crucial. Ensure your bike is secured in a warm environment protected from the ravages of the winter weather. This will prevent fuel from freezing. Apply wax to the body to avoid weather damage.

(2) Mildew can have a devastating effect on your bike. Purchase a specially designed bike cover to keep your bike safe and dry. Invest in a high quality cover. The small investment could save you a lot of money by protecting your bike from rust and other types of damage.

(3) Moisture can be extremely damaging to valve seats, cylinder walls and piston rings, so make sure you regularly check oil levels and ensure your cylinders get a thorough coating of oil to protect them. Always administer oil after you have warmed up your engine, which evaporates existing moisture.

(4) Your engine must also be protected from rust. The best way to do this is to fill the tank with fuel mixed with a fuel stabilizer. Use a top quality fuel stabilizer, as pinching pennies can lead to costly repair fees.

(5) It’s very important to check your tyre pressures every week and to keep them inflated to the levels recommended in your owner’s manual. Tyres have a tough time as it is on icy roads, so be careful to maintain safe tyre pressure levels.

(6) Always renew spark plugs that have accumulated dirt or become corroded. You will also have to keep your battery charged as it will discharge in storage. Hook up your battery to a smart charger to maintain the required charge levels and add a touch of grease to the battery bolts to prevent rust.

(7) You may have to rely heavily on your brakes throughout winter so regularly check your brake pads and brake fluid levels to ensure you are as safe as possible on the roads.

(8) Visibility is vital throughout the early dark nights, fog and snowfall of winter. Check all your lights and indicators are in perfect working condition and be sure to wear a reflective jacket.

(9) If you are in any doubt regarding the safety of your bike arrange to have a vehicle inspection test with a reputable mechanic. This will give you complete peace of mind and ensure your bike can handle winter’s adverse conditions.

(10) Last, but certainly not least, ensure your bike’s MOT is fully up to date. Accidents can happen in the winter months due to the dangerous icy condition of the roads and your motorcycle insurance will be invalid if your MOT is out of date. You owe it to yourself and other road users.

The latest cool concept car from Honda, inspired by the beginning of motorsport competition during the 60s and hence was named as RA similar with the first F1 cars in distinctive white and yellow colors. The design features innovative smooth crossing lines in the surface that forms a theoretical X. The car’s engine can be seen through a glass and predominates at the back side of the engine vent with optical technology-led groups forming a triangular shape. Honda RA-X comprises MR engine and back transmission with a capacity of over 350 hp.

Artist Kevin Cyr worked on the Camper Bike in 2008, though little is revealed about the technical specs, it looks like an overgrown tricycle with a camper shell that's been sawed in half (maybe even thirds). Snaefell Laverda - Cool Sidecar Project

As sidecars go, this is cool! We bet that’s what Francois Knorreck said to himself when he started work on this unique motorcycle-car 10 years ago. He used a Laverda motorbike and put together the car using whatever parts he got his hands on.

The Snaefell is a completely hand crafted vehicle, the frame, the wiring harness and, of course, the amazing body, which itself used 63 molds for the parts made of polyester or carbon fiber. Some parts were sourced from Renault, Citroen, BMW, VW and Audi. The entire 10,000 hour project comes in around 15,000 Euros, which, at today’s rates, is about $21,000.

Power is from the original 1000cc Laverda triple which gets a matching triple exhaust out the back of the bodywork. The interior, complete with seatbelts, looks like a factory build. The door opens up Lamborghini style. Just stunning work.

Cool Jaguar Shaped Motorbike

A cool designer and a motorbike fanatic have created this super  cool Jaguar shaped motorbike. This one off custom made motorbike was  created by designer Lee J. Rowland and motorbike fan Barend Hemmes, from  South London, with the help of South Yorkshire motorcycle maker Polar  Cycles. The number plate 'CAT 1' alone cost £240,000!

The  super cool sleek motorbike based on the elegant form of the Jaguar logo  is already turning heads. The exclusive design is made from parts of a  classic 1,200cc Buell 97 S3 Thunderbolt bought off ebay. It is more a  cruiser than a racer, reaching speeds of 50mph. Mr Hemmes, 36, said he  came up with the idea when doodling in the office. 'I was combining  corporate logos with motorbikes and I suddenly realised how well the two  went together,' he told The Times.

The  interior designer had no previous experience building a bike, but  together with South Yorkshire motorcycle maker Polar Cycles, his design  took fine shape. Mr Hemmes said: 'I did all the fibreglass bodywork with  a sculptor and the guys from Polar Cycles did the stainless-steel  frame. The finished product was so much better than I ever expected.  It's a labour of love. He added: 'It certainly turns heads - people are  fascinated by it. They always smile.'

Not only does this cool car ensure high  performance but also low fuel consumption and thus low carbon emissions,  maintaining BMW’s latest design philosophy.

Touting  attributes like BMW ActiveHybrid, economical combustion engine and  aerodynamics, the futuristic vehicle integrates a hybrid drivetrain with  a 1.5 liter, three-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, located in front of  the rear axle, is capable of reaching 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.8  seconds with the top speed of 155 mph.

The  BMW Vision EfficientDynamics introducing the design details of the  Motorsports makes use of lightweight materials, like aluminum in the  chassis and carbon-fiber in the bodywork, to ensure minimal drag as well  as fuel consumption through a perfect power-to-weight ratio.

Running  on 21″ wheels enclosed inside the extra-large wheel covers, the concept  car looks exceptional from the side and offers minimal drag and air  resistance. While on the other hand, the interior of the vehicle is  characterize by the lightweight and comfortable body-contoured seats,  with front seats attached to the center console, forming a joint  interior landscape, and the back seats fixed on the floor, allowing a  floating experience for the passengers.
