Restoking a Fire

'Ello!
Its been a while since writing. I've been collecting thoughts and trying to think of what I'd like to write about. So I figured, maybe I should write about something close to me and one of my biggest faults. It's not music, cursings, thoughts, or anything like that. Its worse, my Bible Reading. So you are probably thinking, "I didn't expect that.." But this is something I have the hardest time with. I classify this as my worst offense in my life. I fear this lack of wisdom or this awful habit will spill over into my daughter's life and I cannot bear the thought of my mistakes becoming her demise. This sounds extreme, but think about it. Without reading the Bible what happens to you? The battles of life become hard and seem to prevail against you. Sometimes your faith becomes obsolete or people begin to doubt your "religion".
Reading your Bible is important, so important that God breathed these words just so you would have the tools to defeat the enemy and have victory over sin. I think of how a fire has to be stoked and taking care of, well your soul is like that. Bear with me on this. When you get saved you are on fire and feel you can conquer Hell with a squirt gun, you have the willingness and wanting to be used of the Lord. Over the months this feeling you once had start to just flicker. Your fire is dimming, your starving for that closeness and burning you once had. Praying and going to Church is important, but how are you supposed to be touched or re-energized by God when you aren't right with Him?
My enemy that stops me is my attention span! When I go to read my Bible I am thinking about dishes, laundry, Ally's needs, Randy, and all of my responsibilities. So before I even get started my mind is clouded with life. And the cliche, "Life gets in the way" is so true. I read my Bible and have gotten zip from reading it because I was distracted. My fire is this flicker and it keeps me from being all that God wants me to be. I love serving in my Church, but when I talk to children and tell them how they should read the Bible daily, I stand there a liar and ashamed of something I can't even do. I have given a false testimony of myself.
It's a daily battle I face, Satan knows this and he rejoices on the days I may go without reading God's Word. After all God's Word is my SWORD (Eph.6:10-20) So now I am an unprepared soldier. A flickering flame that has a desire, but no commitment.

What a depressing blog! But, wait there's more. I know how to restoke this fire, start fresh! Throw some more wood on the flame and blow on it. The breathing makes the fire spread, we need God to give us the breath to pray and witness. I have to ask God to give me the strength and help to commit myself to His Will and read my Bible. My passion for the Lord should give me enough of a burning desire to read His Word and get closer to His precious side! God help us all be used and committed to you!

Growing up

It's been forever since I've written. Since the last time I've written, I have celebrated my 1 year anniversary and had my baby Allison. So needless to say I've been busy! I've had lots of time to think about growing and maturing in the Lord, which determines my growth/maturity in life.
I've been given a big responsibility as a wife and mother. The whole purpose of this blog was to talk about becoming the godly woman whom God meant for us to be. Learning how to be gracious, a hard worker, kind, loving and all the attributes that the Proverbs 31 woman was. But, she is not the only one who exhibits these, nope, you do if you are in Christ. Her attitude and ways of living are the fruits of the Spirit.
At church, our Sunday School class has been studying Galatians 5 about the fruits we bear if we don't walk with the Lord and the fruits of those who do. When we walk with the Lord we will show forth love, longsuffering (patience), mercy, gentleness, meekness, goodness, faith, temperance, and joy. When we start straying from the Lord we become vile.
Being aware of my sin makes me be a better everything. Why? Because I am an example to my husband and my daughter. My relationship with God effects everything I do and affects whom ever I am around. How I carry myself in front of the lost and how I act around home, family and friends affects how they perceive my God. I, whether I like it or not, have to accept the Bible and follow His commandments. God says, If we love him we will keep His commandments. So do we love Him enough to do so?
My daughter has taught me so much. Even before she entered into the world I was learning that I couldn't be a childish person. My faith should be child-like, yet my life should be just as His. I have learned to be a bit more understanding, being careful of how I speak of others, because I wouldn't want her to say or do things that are contradictory to God. In order for her to know God, she will have to see Him in our home, see Him in our lives and hear about Him. God should be our everything, He literally should be a daily guest in our homes.
So prayer is important, I don't pray as I should. I am ashamed that I haven't been the Christian that God wants me to be. Having a baby makes you realize you need all of the attributes above. Nothing prepares you for motherhood, you can babysit all you like, but nothing is like being a mom to your own child. Christ looks at us and sees us just as children. The way I look at my daughter, is how he looks at me. He is patient with me, I thank Him for that. He is good, He is all that He says He is!
As I learn more, I will be writing and keeping my thoughts written down.Until next time ~Amber

Hey Gals!
It's been awhile since I have written anything. So first things first, my husband and I are expecting our first child! We are SUPER excited! God is so very good. Secondly, I am in my 2nd trimester! It has been so great, no morning sickness! We ask people still pray for us as this also can become a stressful time. I don't quite worry about labor, but there are other concerns that I have about breastfeeding and being a good godly mother. Lastly, we are looking at buying a home. Also, this could be a stressful situation. So please keep us in your prayers :)

Why I have a hard time loving people in Christ.

So if you are reading this blog or follow me, you're probably thinking "Oh Lord, how could she not love others? I do all the time." Well let me explain myself, us women at times run off of emotion. I run off of emotion mixed with logic, I've been a work in progress with self-control, the story of Esther is a great one for that. But, when I think love, I don't think emotion, I think of care and an action that can only be carried out in pure selflessness.
Now, I have problems with looking at my convictions and looking at others thinking why isn't God bothering you? It sounds kind of harsh, but its true in how we feel at times. Its hard not taking your convictions and placing them over someones' head and asking, "How come you are doing this and if I do it God gives me a deep gut twinge?"
People tend to know how to push the buttons! And when they do the "love" goes away and most of the time it loses respect. But ladies, we know how it feels if someone "B-rates" your husband or says something about you. It kills you not to say or do something for revenge. That is not a feeling of love. So when others do you wrong what is your answer to the problem?
Loving someone in Christ is supposed to be likened to how Christ loves us, unconditionally, yes people...when they are acting ugly towards you, God expects us to be the opposite. It is not EASY!! I have had people test the Christ-like love, and believe me I struggle. But, being married has made it easy to love as Christ, toward my husband and family. But, with strangers or even Church members it becomes strained and a wedge between stewards.
When Christ looks at me He doesn't see a big ol' nasty sinner, He sees His child. It's a wonderful thought and very humbling. Yet, we have a hard time looking at others that way. So the bottom line of all of this is, when others mock or ignore basic Bible principles I feel like shutting them out and building a wedge between us. But, God doesn't ask we be isolated, but prayed up so that we can be good examples to a lost and dying world.
So am I the only one with the struggle of giving authentic love to others?

You're Just A Housewife.

Hi guys! It's been a while, but it's been busy :) If you have ever been looked down for being stay at home wife. I'm sure that you have had people ask you, "Why don't you work?" and they act like being a housewife isn't work. Well, I'm here to surprise some critics, it's HARD work. It requires diligence. In my situation I clean a two story house, cook for 4-8 people depending on the weeks, picking up nieces and nephews, making sure my husband has everything he needs, keeping my sanity (which is hard because there is a large amount of animals), I don the laundry,I teach piano and I am heavily involved in Church. And when the Lord allows it, babies will add to all of what some people would call a do nothing position. Yes, at times I like just to be lazy my flesh loves laziness but that is not the case 95% of the time when I'm not sitting down. There is no small job for any one in a family. Everyone has a job and a task, it makes my day when Randy says, Thank you for what you do. It makes me feel like Super Woman! So when someone acts like you don't have a job or you don't "work" trade spaces with them and watch who wants their job back more.

Marriage

It is not enough to say that marriage is great, that is an understatement. It is a beautiful beginning with no end, it's a physical picture of the union of the rapture of the church. When I say there is no end, I simply mean, when you and your husband are both saved you will never be completely apart. Even if you go first or the other way around, you'll be able to see each other's face and the both of you get to glean upon the blessed glow of the Savior!
How wonderful and what amazing hope that is given knowing that you to shall never part for a permanent time. This gives me peace and complete wonderful bliss, knowing our communion is extended. I just recently became wed, this was an important decision and I married the man that God had placed in my life and followed through with His Divine Will.
I'm so excited to have shared this with my followers and those who just out of no where found me. God is sooo Good!

I am a woman, so I don't preach. I try to explain to other women that God has a lot to say and do within a woman's heart, we sometimes have a hard time with our feelings and just emotionally bearing a lot of burdens. I sometimes get the pleasure of witnessing or just being able to talk about the blessings of God. Sometimes we get so caught up in the feeling of God and lose sight of the knowing God. I find myself feeling peaceful and yet, haven't read my Bible or prayed. My peace isn't of security, I can assure you that if you read your Bible and do as Psalms instructs, "Commit thy way unto the Lord and he shall bring it to pass." Satan will be attacking you left and right! Every time you go to the altar and make a commitment to God about some sin, that temptation will be waiting for you as soon as you get out of the church building! I've been there and for those who have been saved longer than I have been too.
I have been reading some quotes of martyrs and they have blessed me and caused me to think about my God and commitments, my daily walk and service to Him. I pray it does the same for you!

My fiancee and I are in pre-marital counselling with our pastor, it's going very well and smooth. Before I became engaged and before I started courting, I would talk about how I strive to be the Proverbs 31 woman. I've heard people say it's just an idea or what a woman should be, it's not realistic. I beg to differ! I believe it is doable, all it takes is a strong walk with God and making sure the "old man" stay put off. The virtuous woman is how I want my husband to look at me and be able to look at me everyday and see a meek and quiet spirit, a trustworthy friend and a help meet that will work with him for our children. And first and foremost a great woman of faith that walks close with God.

Though I am young, I've realized the impact of growing in the Spirit. When you have advanced and are willing to act more like Christ when you don't want to, you are showing the Holy Spirit and His work in you. You might have started out with completely godly friends, but a lot of times when they start to go to the "Christian Colleges" that compromise on God's Word, they start reading Rick Warren's "The Purpose Driven Life" and they start having what I call "Hippie Dippie" views. You have grown apart. I have experience in this, Forgiveness is important everyone in Christ's eyes needs forgiveness, but restoration is the next step. When you say God 'I won't forgive or restore!' You better watch out for lightning because when you say NO to the Almighty God there will be consequences, it may not be today, the moment you do it, it may come much later, but I can guarantee that when it does happen you'll be asking for forgiveness, you'll be asking for God to restore you. I find this the most irritating because no one is above reproach! I'm not and no one on this Earth either! Those I was close with got in touch with the contemporary music that implies it's about God, but doesn't directly say His name, reading the purpose driven life to find out what God put you on this earth when you've sat in sermons that were straight from God's Word telling you your purpose, and feeling that because they were broken in the past they were restored, but not giving the chance to someone else...This is when you know you've grown apart. Christ will always forgive, restore, but don't go looking for this if you can't forgive and restore.

3 things that can make you unstoppable for God:
1) He was Chosen from his peers
--you have to be righteous
We just need people to make up their mind that they are going to do right!
Thought: "If your Youth Pastor picked you as the spiritual leader of the teen group, would your peers snicker and say, "him/her, yeah right?!"
--he was righteous from the inside out
--he was full of faith and power
vs. 15--"The reason why the wrong side comes out that's because it's wrong in the inside."
*Pray God's Will
2) I need to be radical
Radical- different from the usual
Anyone can be worldly, but to go against the flesh is a radical.
Differences between Stephen and the Mob:
The Mob Stephen
a.Spiritual Blindness Spiritual Sight (Acts 7:56)
"What do you do when you're going through hard ships?" Instead of being like everyone else giving in to their hardships, your friends can see you look to God.
b. Hatred (Acts 7:54-58) Forgiveness (Acts 7:59-60)
You can only have that forgiveness if you have Christ--the Spirit in your heart. If you get mad at the truth, you're not right with God.
3) It's going to be risky vs. 51-53
"You're not going to be listened to if what you say is not how you live."
--Stephen put them on the defensive.
--It costs something to follow Christ, just as an athlete takes years to become unstoppable
--you may lose popularity
--you may risk persecution
KEEP YOUR EYES ON GOD!
All is worth suffering for Christ! He was beaten,broken and tortured for you so how is telling someone about Christ and being called names measure up to all Christ went through?
--loss of people
God may have to take a godly loved one to get your attention.

Psalm 90:9-12
"9For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom."
What is the most important about a tombstone? Is it where it reads, 'Loving Mother', 'Amazing Father', ' Great Daughter' or 'Talented Son'? No. It's the the years...the dash between the years 'what were you doing during those years?'
Were you acting like a Christian? Being used for Christs Cause? We are like pencils; Here are 5 things we can learn from the pencil:
1) You Can Do Great Things
John 10: 27-29, " My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand."
a. You can allow yourself to be held by anyone, but you must allow yourself to be held by God.
A pencil in the wrong hands can do damage
ex. a bored kid sticking a pencil in a light socket.
-can write wrong things with it
- can hurt someone like poke an eye out
In the hand of God you can see amazing things. You have to make the choice!
2) Painful Sharpening
James 1:2,13 "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into diver temptations;" 13,"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempeth he any man."
By going through trials and tribulation you get sharpened and if "lesson learned" you will become a stronger Christian.
Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work to them that love the God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
--Life is like cake, you like it, but you wouldn't eat the raw ingredients by themselves, but together they "work for good"
3) Correct mistakes
2 Timothy 3:16, " All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."
Scripture is an eraser, it corrects the mistakes.
a. Confess you sins
1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
You can go to the Bible and find the answers on how to fix your problems.
example: Eph. 4:26
4) It's what's on the inside that counts
2 Cor. 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all thing; behold all things are become new."
"The lead is what makes the pencil"
It is your heart that makes you what you are. God wants you heart. 1 Samuel 16:7, " But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh upon the heart."
--When you give God your heart all things fall into place. If your heart is right you will bear fruit.
5) Leave your mark
Col. 3:17And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all tin the mane of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."
When you go out as a Christian you, "Represent God, Represent Family, and Represent your Church."
You can influence people, by not being in the "in crowd". You are not representing yourself--you represent God.
You make your mark:

When you stand for God
When you proclaim God's name

Hey Friends!

This past week we took our youth group to Bailey's Crossroads, Bro. Kenny Baldwin's Church. The theme was "Is It In You?" Make no mistake it was an examination of your walk with God and your life for Him. We had a lot of fun, preaching, singing, testifying and just praising God!

Youth Pastor Charlie Clark III of Solid Rock Baptist Church in New Jersey, preached first. Here are the notes from that sermon.

Colossians 3:1-3,23

"1. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.3 For ye are dead, and your life is his with Christ in God."

"23.and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men."

The word "heartily" means done with strength, zeal, with all your heart.

Do everything with passion!

"Passion In and Passion Out!"

-- passion comes from the inside, if you are passionate on the inside that will come out.

Proverbs 4:23, "Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."

the word "keep" means to watch, guard and protect.

the word "diligence" means carefully

So God is telling us to "watch, guard and protect our heart carefully"

What is in your heart will come out in the occurrences in you life.

Most teens are apathetic, meaning they have a lackness of heart.

But, our God is a God of feeling:

-A God of love

-A God of passion

-A God of fire

Just thoughts

I've had quite an interesting day. I won't go into what happened, but I'll just leave it as I'm hurt. I am trying to realize that though I am young and tenderhearted, God's not through with me. My purpose is not determined by man's thoughts nor their words, God has put every thought into me, "For I know the thoughts that I think towards you saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Jer.29:11

God has a plan for me...though I may sit here, sulk, silk and sour for awhile, He knows my paths and has set the course. All I have to do is get up and run...but, it's not that simple, if I let my flesh keep me down Satan's got me...so I have to get up and run.

So though I feel discouraged, I'd like for this to be read for encouragement to remember that God is still on the throne, He is there and He said He'd never leave us nor forsake us!! Praise God!

In the Midst of it all

God Give Us Strength

Ladies for centuries have been known for having many attributes. These attributes may be similar to men, but women tend to be emotional and not so concerned with rationality. I will be the first one to admit I am at fault for jumping out of my skin and just acting like a crazy woman...and you know that is the woman I hate being because it makes the stereotypes true. Do you realize that Esther was a strong woman who acted in reason? And its not just one woman that is this way in the Bible. These were strong women!
Esther. One name and one woman. Made a massive impact and saved a whole race because of her courage that God had given her and faith. Her faith in God gave her strength, God will always give strength! I love this story and want to be godly as Esther. Her story alone exhibits all that women should obtain, here's an example:
a. Problem: Haman had a plan to exterminate all the Jews.
Solution: Esther fasted and prayed until God gave her strength and acted chill.
b. Problem: same as above
Solution: Esther took what God had given her and went before the King (her husband) without being called for, *side note if a woman was not called and went before the throne the punishment was death. She lived
c. Problem: same
Solution: Esther used the God given abilities to control her feelings so that she could protect her people.
If in fact Esther had just blurted out and acted on her emotions...she would have jeopardized everyone.
When we fly right off the handle and get in trouble, that's no way to live! It's hard especially when you aren't feeling well and when you are in a place of depression or a form of crakiness, separate yourself from others and pray. God has all you need to get through trials, tribulations and valleys, all you have to do is ask. I believe if we acted out more rationally life would be better and life would be grander if we all just got down on our knees and asked the Lord for strength and wisdom like He gave Esther.

Modesty and my convictions

Convictions...a reminder of that the Holy Spirit resides in you and is constantly monitoring you! From a young child I wore pants, my mom and sister...basically my whole family. In my early teens when I had received Christ I had a battle within in me about clothes, I analyzed and couldn't find peace in what was going on in my heart and mind. After talking to my mom about my concerns she assured me nothing was wrong with the way I dressed.
For years this reassurance had made me feel good and at ease, until I studied about a virtuous woman, and the modesty in wearing dresses and skirts and dressing like a godly woman. ( Mind you I don't throw stones, but there should be big considerations about your spiritual life if you can be half naked and be okay with that.) Godliness is a heart matter, and what is in the heart always comes out. Anyway, these convictions I once had came flooding back and made me think. Then I gave my dilemma to Christ not my mom. My conviction has stirred some conversations and has given me respect. I don't have to show my body to feel beautiful and wearing a dress/skirt gives me that femininity that my fiancee loves and God appreciates.
When God speaks it is wise to listen the first time instead of the hundredth time. I still learn this in everything and I have still yet a lot to learn. I hope that I can give my kids the instruction and reproof as Solomon was able to give his son. The trick is living what you listen too which brings the verse "be ye doers and not hearers only" to mind. I try to respect my body as a "temple" and not desecrate it with scandalous clad and vanity, yet I am not perfect and sometimes I fall. Everyday there is something I've thought, said or done that God shakes His head about. So please don't take this blog wrong, I'm only giving a testament of what I've experienced. God is Good~ Amber
