LIVE♥LOVE♥FASHION♥Is Back for G.O.O.D.

and I am enthusiastic to blog about the past year that I have had in fashion and what is coming up for the future.

First of all, I just wrapped Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York last month, and had the opportunity to meet and spend time with some of my favorite style bloggers at the Fall 2013 shows, including Aimee Song of SongofStyle.com, Leandra Medine of ManRepeller.com, Bryanboy of Bryanboy.com, and my new favorite blogger/stylista Sophie Elkus of AngelFoodStyle.com.

I honor these talented and fabulous bloggers for all their hard work and dedication to the fashion industry. Thanks for all the style inspiration, amazing fashion tips, and most importantly, thanks for showing others that you can be a rockstar being just yourself and showing others your individual, unique personality.

Chic fashion line, The House of Perna will launch its debut Spring 2013 collection entitled ‘Decometrix’ at Style Week Resort Miami in early July.

Decometrix is an ecletic collection blending New York high fashion with the leisure, luxury, and opulence of South Beach.

It is the juxtaposition of the bright vibrancy and energy of Miami, as well as the concert edge of New York.

It was inspired by Amanda’s Florida past, her New York present, and a glimpse into the future where Miami is a major fashion hub.

The collection embodies Florida’s carefree atmosphere with the sophistication acquired by living in New York.

It represents the beach, the neon lights, and the old world glamour of Miami, as well as the tall buildings, the living underground, and the infinite shades of gray that represent New York City.

Loving the fabulous designer, Amanda Perna of chic fashion brand, The House of Perna.

♥About the Designer♥

Amanda Perna first discovered her love of fashion while doing theatre as a child. It evolved into a deep-rooted passion while studying Apparel Design at the University of Alabama. At 19, she created her first clothing brand, Couture Chaos. While in school, Amanda worked as an intern for Oscar de la Renta and Calvin Klein. Upon graduation, she accepted a job at Calvin Klein, where she worked as a designer for four years.

Amanda appeared on Project Runway Season 9 and is a featured expert host on eHow.com. In addition to designing, she also styles both editorial photo shoots and for individual clients. Amanda is proud to be returning home to show the debut collection of her new label—The House of Perna—in the place it all began for her, South Florida.

The House of Perna is her homage to the creativity, strong work ethic and unshakable values that her family instilled in her that can be found in her designs.

Chanel's "The Little Black Jacket" Exhibition

   If you're in New York City this week, be sure to check out Chanel's “The Little Black Jacket” exhibit that runs through June 15th at 18 Wooster St.

   This exhibit was created under the direction of Karl Lagerfeld and former Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld. This exhibit features more than 100 black-and-white photographs of figures including Sarah Jessica Parker, Tilda Swinton, and Kanye West wearing Chanel jackets that were made specifically for the photos.

  Also, the photos from this exhibit will be made into a book to be released later sometime this summer.

This past March during Los Angeles Fashion Week, I had the pleasure of attending fashion designer, Sue Wong's Fall 2012 collection showing at her atelier in Downtown Los Angeles.

Sue Wong's atelier was a fabulous experience for me because I felt like I was walking into a fairy tale closet full of whimsical, glamorous, and detail-oriented gowns fit for any modern day princess.

The theme for Wong's Fall 2012 collection is the beautiful harmony of the autumn season.

The designer’s ‘Autumn Sonata’ themed collection comes to life through her signature, intricate couture embellishments including her delicate hand-beadwork, seutache vines on delicate lace, cascading floral embroidery, flowing chiffons, and lustrous satin paired with skirts of taffeta leaves infused with petals of organza and satin flowers. These nature-inspired looks all display the beauty of autumn’s rich and bountiful harvest.

Sue Wong says “there is an earthiness about autumn that is beautiful and reminds us, perhaps of our own poetic mortality.”

Inside Zang Toi's atelier

During this past Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City, I had the privilege of getting to visit the atelier of Zang Toi who is one of the world’s most talented fashion designers. Getting the chance to see a master at his work in his creative studio where his ideas come to life was one of the highlights of this past fashion week for me.

The designer, Zang Toi has built a tradition of elegance for over 20 years, but surprisingly, he came from a humble upbringing in a small village called Kuala Krai in Kelantan, Malaysia, where he was born and raised. Toi was also the youngest of seven children, but at the age of 20, he studied at the Parsons School of Design in New York City.

In August 1989, the designer opened his atelier, and a year later in 1990, U.S Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour featured Toi in the magazine's March issue. This was a huge moment for Zang Toi because he was one of the first Asian designers to be recognized by Anna Wintour.

Also, in 1990, Zang Toi was awarded the Mouton Cadet Young Designer of the Year, which recognizes the top, young, U.S. designer of the year. From that point on, Toi continued to be featured in various top fashion magazines and worn by many celebrities over the years, and the designer even designed a luxurious wardrobe for royalty such as the Saudi Princess Haifa Bandar Al Saud.
