Kids of all ages can help their moms and dads decorate the outside of their houses. What is more fun is deciding what to be when you go trick or treating. Some children may even have parties in school and they will be able to wear their costumes to school. But guess what, time for all that candy. How big of a bowl will each house need. In my house we use 2 big bowls. My youngest son will eat all the candy in a whole day if we let him. My other son would not eat any of it. Strange I know he doesn't like candy.

We collect so much candy that it would take a very long time to eat it all. The candy we don't like we give to grandma and grandpa. Of course my youngest gets so upset that I am giving his candy away, that's life. I came up with the "Candy Man" he comes in the middle of the night and takes most of the candy to give to the poor children who weren't able to trick or treat. This was the only way my now 6 year old was able to understand that all of this candy is no good for him.

A few weeks ago he remember the "Candy Man" from last year. I couldn't believe it! This kid doesn't forget a thing, unreal. He asked me if he was going to come again this year. I was only able to tell him that it depended on how much candy we collect from trick or treating.

The "Candy Man" worked for us and hope you can use him also. Remember he is like the tooth fairy. He comes when you are sleeping.

View Art Work by Creative Kids

School art

Yes it is that time of the year when the kids have started to bring home all of their work they have done in school. What do you do with all of the nice art work they made. Well since my son was in preschool I decided to come up with a way to save only the special pieces. I saved only the art and on a rainy day I took everything out on the kitchen table and went through piece by piece. I saved only special ones that made me say "how cute". Of course all of the art work the boys do is wonderful but there is no possible way to save every piece. I had some laminating sheets and cut them to fit the art work so it would stay preserved. I then got a bigger folder from staples and had my son decorate the front and back of it. Once he was done decorating it we put all of the laminated artwork into the folder and stored it in his closet. Every year we go through the work they bring home and still do they same thing. My son's artwork from school book. It is their own scrap book of what they did in school.

This is great to do on a rainy day. They will have a blast doing this with you. Sometimes they even remember why they painted the picture and tell you the story. I enjoy these moments with the boys, time goes by so fast and before you know it they will older and you will cherish those little things they used to do in school.

Last Month of School

Well I hope we all made it through the school year. We have 3 weeks left. The kids can't wait for the summer to start. They are looking forward to going to the beach everyday to find seashells and different fish and crabs. It is amazing on all the items you can find on the beach. Sea glass is my personal favorite. I collect the pieces and put them in small vases on my end tables. Each summer we decorate my living room with washed up seashells and sea glass. The boys have a great time and they always find something different every time we go to the beach. They have so many shells that on the rainy days they love to make differnet crafts with the shells. I can't wait. Hopefully we will have beautiful weather this summer.

Father's Day Crafts

Do you remember paper weights. Well I do. When I was a child every fathers day we would make a new paper weight. This is a creative craft that any age can do. The supplies you need are very basic.

Large rock
markers, paint, or foamies
paintbrush, glue for the foamies.

You can decorate it anyway you like. Painting it is always fun, but the foamies are the new craft wave lately. You can cut different shapes, colors or you can already buy the precut ones. Just attach them to the rock. There are endless ways you can decorate your paper weights.

Magnetic Photo Craft

Here is a great craft for all ages. Recycle your magnets that you get in the mail for your refridgerator by taking a favorite photo you have, and you can decorate your fridge with these colorful magnets.

What you need:

glue stick
magnets any size or shape
mod podge
scissors
your favorite photos

This is very easy to do. With the help of an adult you can make a collage of different magnets. Find your favorite photo whether it be a favorite vacation spot, etc. Cut the picture to match the size of the magnet. Once you have the picture cut you can put some glue on the top of the magnet and the adhere the picture to it. Once you have that done you take the mod podge and cover the photo completely with a thin layer of podge. Let this dry and then you are done. You can make an array of different themes. Just use your imagination!!!!!

Easter Egg Craft

Stained Glass Easter Egg.

This craft is easy but needs an adult to help out.

All you need is construction paper, wax paper, some shredded color paper very thin, and a hot iron.

First trace out an egg on the contruction paper. Cut out the inside of the egg so you have a empty middle. Make sure the edging of the egg is thick. Take the wax paper and cut a piece so it covers the back hole of the egg, and then add the strips of shredded colors. Next you will need to add another piece of wax paper to place on top of the shredded paper. Place the egg template on top and a cloth. Take the hot iron and melt the wax paper. Make sure the wax paper can not be seen through the back edge of the egg template. Once you are done you can decorate the egg trim with anything you like.

Enjoy.

A beautiful spring day

Finally, Spring was here today. The weather was so nice and warm that the boys were able to play outside for the whole day. The day went by so fast for me. I didn't hear any fighting or the famous words of "I'm borded." The fresh air is so great for the children. The get all of the energy out, when they come in for lunch they usually are starving and at night they fall asleep nice and fast. Wow! no fighting over video games. I never thought the cold air would go away. Happy spring..

A Story my son wrote

My 7 year old had a book due from the young authors club in his school. Well writing it was fun. There were specific layouts in order to do the book. When he was done with the text he had to design the book. Here is where he was puzzled and wanted help. There is no right or wrong way to make drawings when you are that age but he has a very difficult time with it. He wants to make sure he is using the correct colors. I wanted him to use his imagination and decorate or design it his own way, and to my suprise he did a great job. I was very proud of him. Do this to all the
eggs and let dry for a while.

When eggs have dried, you will want to put your favorite picture in the
middle and you are set to go. When you give the picture frame to your grandparents remember to wrap the easel up with it so they can display it for their friends and
family members.

You can usually find the easel in your local arts and crafts store or sometimes the dollar stores have them also. Most of the itmes you will use you can find at your local dollar store. Have fun and remember be creative.

Last day of February

Yeah, it's the last day in February. So you think the warmer weather may be coming. Well not here, we are getting rain and ice tonight. The wind is very gusty and then the next storm is going to leave us with 6 inches of snow. Does it ever end. I hope soon. My one son has been sick out of 28 days in this month 20 days he has been sick. I am ready for the warmer weather so the windows can be open and the kids can play outside.

Vacation is over........

The week is over. Time for the children to go back to school and have my regular routine again. My one son has been sick for the past 2 weeks off and on. I think he is finally feeling better. He has 2 reports to do and yes he is only in 2nd grade. What fun that is for me. We did a chunk of the work over the vacation and this week we will finish them up. Always remember to never wait until the last minute when it comes to small children and reports, you never know what can happen and than the timing is never there. Today my children met 2 of the Islanders for autographs, in Lynbrook. It was very fun and we got there just in time the line was not long at all. About 20 minutes later the line was crazy long. The highlight of the whole thing is to see my sons face light up when they actually talk to the players.

Twitter Moms: The Influential Moms Network

That 70's Wedding

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mLKihBsWp28/SZskbW3vKdI/AAAAAAAAADY/IOdW_kg3dTM/s200/P1011402.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303873038573316562" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_mLKihBsWp28/SZskJxIwBYI/AAAAAAAAADQ/sNUt5h4HNrM/s200/DSC_0188.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303872736386352514" />
That 70's Wedding was a lot of fun. I can't wait for the springtime. I am getting ready for that 70's wedding this week. I hope it is warm down south. I finally finished the kids hippie costumes with the help of the best woman in the world my MOTHER. Pictures will be posted after the wedding. We also made the favors. This was so much fun decorating and organizing the wedding.

Children's Colorful Works of Art

Now that the holidays have come to and end, we have update some of the art work sent in by children from all over. The theme is the 70’s. This is going to be so much fun. We have made the decorations for her wedding. We made peace signs, daisy flowers as the centerpieces and hanging daisies, and let’s not forget the smiley faces. They were so easy to make and we had fun putting them together. Here are some pictures of what we did. The final display of the decorations will follow as the wedding is not until February.

Ready for the Holidays

Today after work I am coming home to bake. I have not had a chance to do any baking this year. I have been so busy I forgot all about the baking. I have been baking for the holidays for over 15 years. It was always a fun tradition for me. For some reason I have just completely forgot all about it this year. Well lets hope that nothing gets in my way today so I can complete this task. I will let you know how the cookies turn out.

The Boys' Favorite Books This Week

My children read everynight before they go to bed. Cooking for Thanksgiving was fun and I love to have company. The next day is the great BLACK FRIDAY, I don't ever get up at the crack of dawn for the savings because by Sunday the sales are even better. Of course the crazy one is my husband who every year goes out at 4:30 in the morning and thinks he hits the jackpot. Maybe he does, but my jackpot is that I am still sleeping in bed. The kids have been home since Wednesday and it is time for them to go back to school. Sunday afternoon I was getting their backpacks ready and their lunch and snacks in order. Well thank god for Happy Monday!!!!!

The Book Signing was a lot of fun.
