Tickets for Summer Music Festivals

2011-09-08T07:56:00.000-07:00

Spring is nearly here and with it the anticipation of upcoming summer music festivals; give me that special aroma of exotic foods mixed with the unwashed masses and I am in my element.

There are thousands of festivals in the UK alone during the summer months, bringing people together from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and areas, attracted for the same reasons; the atmosphere, passion for the music and the thrill only experienced at an open air festival.

Whether you are a regular festival groupie or have been saving like crazy to get to that one special event this year, then you need to think about getting your tickets now before they are all sold out. If the festival you want to go to is a huge event, such as Glastonbury or WOMAD, tickets will be in demand and are likely to sell out in record breaking time. Once you know the date of the festival, find out where to buy your tickets from and when they will be going on sale.

The best place to start looking for your ticket is to search the internet, this is a great source of information and advice and often you will be able to buy a ticket online with no fuss.

These call centres work from the same database as you can access directly, so it makes sense to sit at home in comfort and do it yourself online.

For big festivals there are a number of agents authorized to sell tickets on the promoters' behalf. They sell the tickets at their face value and add on a booking and processing fee, usually around 5-10%, for their service. You might have heard of some of the well-known agencies.

How to Use the Latest Mobile Phones and PDA

2011-09-08T07:55:00.000-07:00

Just a few years ago, only executives were walking around with the latest technology. Now the newest flip phones, text messaging and mobile instant messaging devices have become mainstream. Texting has experienced an explosion in popularity all across the nation.

Everyone from trend-setting teens to busy professionals and on-the-go moms are texting colleagues, friends and family, in large part because texting lets you communicate anytime, anywhere. The following tips can help you to take hold of the texting trend:

How-To: Send Text Messages from Phone to Phone. It's easy to exchange text messages with anyone who has a text-enabled mobile phone (nearly all phones are these days) or PDA. Even if you and your friends have different wireless providers, you can just enter the 10-digit wireless phone number into the "to" field and text away.

How-To: Send Instant Messages from Phone to Phone. If you and your friends or co-workers use instant messaging (IM) on the desktop, it's easy to continue the conversation on-the-go. Many mobile phones and PDAs have built-in "Mobile IM" features, and most phones can download mobile versions of popular IM services like the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) service (found at www.aolmobile.com). Be sure to set up IM forwarding when you leave your computer to re-direct IMs to your phone and stay in touch wherever you go.

Violence

2011-09-08T07:54:00.000-07:00

Violence is another bad thing promoted in television by means of all sorts of films including cartoons. Children and young people watching violent movies, cartoons or other TV shows learn that they can use violence to ask for something and are sure to get

what they want whenever they want, which again, is obviously yet another lie. We can’t get all we want anytime we want; many times there are other elements involved that we need to take into account.

By following the advice and imitating the characters in the world of showbiz, young people end up making mistakes that bring destruction, such as taking up vices together with the desire of getting deeper into them and not giving them up, so that they would not appear as "weird" in the eyes of their judging friends.

Unfortunately, still going down that path, many young people commit abortions, killings or even suicide. Numerous young girls have troubles accepting their looks, their weight, still due to the influence of showbiz and mass-media. They have eating disorders, they get depressed.

When you come to think at the people in the countryside although they are usually considered redundant and old-fashioned, (definitely not cool), they do not have so many problems with depression, weight, and so on.

They are used to physical labor, which also keeps the mind healthy and strong, and the spirit high. So TV has one of the most disastrous effects on human mind. The radiations emitted by the TV produce a hypnotic effect on the viewers, irascibility and anxiety.

However, we cannot say that television does not promote good things also. For instance, certain TV programs broadcast documentaries and reportages about people and places, about animals, and of course, religious programs.

But unfortunately, most TV programs seem contaminated with a virus which has the power to reduce the viewer’s general culture, turning him/her into a sort of puppet that can be easily controlled, without any opposition from his/her part. And apart from cartoons (or at least some of them), we cannot even choose a harmless TV program for us and our children.

Role models

2011-09-08T07:53:00.000-07:00

A study conducted by child and family protection association shows that more and more young people and children under 10 years of age tend to imitate movies, cartoons and music stars’ behavior in their need for a role model.

If we take a random TV show, we notice than more than a third of it contains elements of vulgarity, violence, atheism or frequenting certain people and places that don’t really have any good influence.

Moreover, it is considered as cool and fashionable to have all sorts of vices. There have recently appeared a lot of such programs with all sorts of "fights" between good and evil,

where the protagonists use magic to defeat their enemies, where violence is highly valued, where there are a lot of vulgar words and insults. And an innocent and naive child can learn that one should use magic as that magic makes you look superior, it helps you control the world, and so you can control anybody. Aren’t these bad things to teach a child?

Fantasy Television Series You Should Watch

2011-09-08T07:52:00.000-07:00

Making a pick of those shows that will top the list of must-watch fantasy television series of all time is no easy task. With so many great shows having been produced since the start of television, how do you choose the best?

Well, the answer is generally subjective and it is difficult to come up with a list that will satisfy everyone's expectation from a fantasy show. We give you a list of all those television series that according to us, definitely were the best of the lot.

We usually spend a lot of time in front of the TV whether we realize it or not.

Whenever we have spare time, it’s a way to relax, to get informed, entertained, forgetting about the worries of our daily life, about problems we have at work or school.

It’s the most common way of spending the weekends comfortably at home. There is thus a tendency of people’s turning into the so-called "couch potatoes", even if it’s for a while.

Although TV has its very good, informative side, there are many bad things that it can bring, especially for children and teenagers who are more vulnerable than grown-ups.

The movies on TV can often be damaging for young people. They show other young people indulging in all kinds of vices and harmful behaviors, who act as if going to church is un-cool, unpleasant, that Christians are generally brain-damaged or hypocrites.

The characters in those movies often show very little respect towards anything, unfortunately, and they also often become teenagers’ role models. They curse a lot and use a vulgar language in order to express all they are thinking, and often have dubious entourages.
