b. What is the use of the <img> tag? Is it an empty or a container element? Explain any two attributes used with this tag using an example.

Ans: <img> tag is used to insert image in the HTML document.

It is an empty element. <img> tag has many attributes like src, alt, height, width etc.

* <img> = src attribute of<img> tag specifies the URL of an image file.

Eg: <img src= "image.jpeg">

* <img alt> = alt attribute of <img> tag specifies alternate text for an image. This text is displayed when the graphics features is turned off in the browser.

c. What is the difference between <tr> and <td> tags?

Ans: <tr> is the table row tag defines a horizontal rows of cell. On the other hand, <td> is table data tag specifies an individual block or cell in a table row.

d. i) border spacing

= Border spacing specifies the distance between the border of adjacent cells.

ii) caption side

= Caption side specifies the placement of caption for the table which has two values such as top and bottom. The default caption side is top.

iii) border collapse

= Border collapse specifies whether table border should be collapsed or not. The two values of border collapse are seperate and collapse. The default border collapse is seperate.

e. How can you specify the height and width of a table?

Ans: We can specify the height and width of a table is percentage or pixels.

f. Explain the border properties that can be used with the <table> tag. Can you apply these properties to the <td> and <tr> tags?

Ans: The border properties that can be used in the <table> tag are - border spacing and border collapse.

i) border spacing= It specifies the distance between the borders of adjacent cells.

ii) border collapse= It specifies whether table border should be collapsed or not. The two values of border collapse are seperate and collapse.

The border properties can be used in <td> <tr> and <th>.

g. Differentiate between text align and vertical align properties. What values can be assigned to these products?

Ans: Text align sets the horizontal alignment of text in a table. On the other hand, Vertical align sets the vertical alignment of text in a table.

The values of text align are left, right, centre. On the other hand, the values of vertical align are top and bottom.

The values that can be assign to these properties are left, right, centre, top, bottom and middle.

h. Which properties will you use to change the background color and text color for the heading row?

Ans: To change the background color and text color for the heading row, The properties used are background-"color" and "color" respectively.

i. What is the use of the padding property? Which HTML5 tag uses this property?

Ans: The padding property is used to specify the space between a border and content in a table. It's value is counted in pixels.

b. What are the two parts of an e - mail? Explain with an example?

Ans: An e - mail address typically has two main parts-

i) user login name and

ii) host name, seperated by @

For example, alsan@del2.mtnl.net.in,where:

'in' refers to India,

'net' refers to the network provider (ISP)

'mtnl' refers to the organization name of the ISP

'del2' refers to the server or computer name of the ISP,

'@' is a symbol that remains the same in every e - mail address, and

'alsan' refers to the username.

c. Explain the following features of an email program

i) Inbox: This features gives us information on all the Incoming mails. When we login to our e - mail account we can see how many new messages we have in our inbox. The e - mail messages are displayed one below another with the latest message appearing first. The inbox also show, the sender, the subject, date of sending, message, size attachments etc.read and unread messages can also be identified.

ii) Draft: The message can be saved here in this folder to be sent later.

iii) Sent: This folder give the details of all the sent messages to another can be saved in the sent folder. This helps in case we want to go through the correspondence later.

d. What are netiquettes? Explain any two?

Ans: Netiquettes or Network etiquettes are the conventional rules for correct behaviour on the Internet.

i) No flaming: Angry or heated messages are called flames when we send such types of messages' we offend the recipients which shouldn't be done.

ii) Limit our signature: Most email programs allow us a signature text, that gets automatically added at the end of one e - mail.We should keep the signature short by limiting it to not more than four lines.

e. What is a search engine? Give few examples of search engine.

Ans: A search engine is a program that is designed to search for information on the Work Wide Web. A search engine searches documents for specified keywords and returns a list of documents, where the keywords are found. Search engines broadly consits of the three components.

iii) search algorithm

A few examples of search engine are Google,Yahoo,khoj etc.

f. How is video conferencing different from chatting?

Ans: i) Video tele conferencing imitates a real life metting environment. On the other hand, Chat is a program that enables us to communicate with others in real time through text messages.

Ans: The two protocols commonly used for working the Internet are Internet Protocol (IP) and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).

b. Explain the use of channels.

Ans: In Internet most computer networks are connected directly to it. However, in many network computer cannot have direct connection to the Internet. Such networks are inturn connected to another network through channels. A channel is a medium used to carry information or data from one computer to another. These channels then connected to Internet via routers and modems. This way, several path ways from one system to another can be established.

c. Differentiate between routers and a modem.

Ans: (i) Routers are devices that direct Internet traffic by determining the best path to be taken. On the Other hand, Modems helps computer and computer networks to connect to the Internet.

(ii) Routers help to transmit signals, but cannot convert the signal from one from to another. One the Other hand, Modem cannot send the signal, but then convert the digital signal to analog signal and vice versa.

d. What is an IP address and what is its use?

Ans: Each computer system on the Internet has an Internet address called IP address. This address is used to exchange information,send or received e-mail messages etc. By adding the IP address of the sender and the destination to each packet so that it reaches the correct destination.

e. Explain the process of sending data from one computer system to another.

Ans: While sending data from one computer to another, it is broken up into pieces called packets using TCP. IP adds the IP address of the sender and the destination to each packets so that it reaches the correct destination. At the destination, TCP resembles the packets into a complete message. This is how data can be send from one computer system to another.

f. What do you mean by modulating and demodulation?

Ans: The process of converting digital signal to analog signal is called modulation and converting the analog signal to digital signal is called demodulation.

g. What do you mean by World Wide Web?

Ans: World Wide Web (WWW) is an Internet based network of servers that are interconnected through hypertext.

h. Differentiate between a website and a web page?

Ans:

i. What is HTTP? Why is it required?

Ans: The hypertext Transfer protocol ( HTTP )

is a communication protocol used to transfer all kinds of information text, images, sound, video and other multimedia files.

On the Web, the server contain an HTTP program that is designed to wait for HTTP request and handle them as they arrive. Our web browser is an HTTP client, sent requests to server machine. When we send a file request, the browser builds and HTTP request, and send it to the destination server. The server, inturn receives the requests file to the client (Web Browser).

j. Explain the two types of web addressing systems with examples.

Ans: The web addressing system comprises of two methods -

(i) Letter Addressing System:- The web address of any computer or network that is given using alphabets is called letter addressing system.

Eg: www.assam.gov.in

(ii) Number Addressing System:- Every website is given a unique network number, comprises of four numbers, each less than 256 joined together.
