Content Overview Since releasing the original Shreddage: Electric Rhythm Guitar library, we've received tons of feedback from happy users saying we've done what none of their other guitar samples could do: create truly realistic rhythm riffs for rock and metal. But we're not one to rest on our laurels, so we set to work researching ways we could make this secret weapon more realistic, more expressive and more METAL than ever. The result is Shreddage X, an apocalyptic culmination of pure rock power, tempered through the flames of Mt. Doom. We started by lowering the tuning even further, going from Bb to Ab (the "A" is for "Armaggedon".) We added non-pinched vibrato on every note, for even more expressive performances, then recorded traditional harmonics (with no vibrato) as well as blazing tremolo picking. But we didn't stop there. Shreddage X includes true recorded portamento slides on every single note and powerchord, up to an octave. The portamento time can be reduced to create more subtle legato transitions, eliminated, or kept at max to create dramatic custom slides and dives. All this newfound power would be for naught if it were hard to use, so we reprogrammed the patches and kept them as easy to use as ever. There is still no need to memorize complex keyswitches, excessive midi CC automation or pedal futzing. Just load up the master patch and prepare to have your face melted. Note that Shreddage X is only available in Kontakt 4 format. Anything less was just not metal enough for our new scripting and functionality! The Kit The Indie ADpak features a beautiful blue sparkle ICE Custom Shop drum kit. It’s a hand made modern vintage rock kit with new “old school” made shells and original vintage Slingerland hardware. The snare is a Premier Keith Moon signature “The Spirit of Lily”, part of the rare 8 Piece signature kit. We tried a lot of cymbals for this kit and found the Paiste 2002 and Signature series were a great match however the hi-hat is a vintage Zildjian K 15” for the right crisp. We tuned the drums to get the most out of the room with every kit piece and chose the microphones that captured this in the best possible way but also enhanced this with their own characteristics and color. We managed to really capture the massive energy and character of these drums and the amazing room, with the subtle grittiness of the vintage microphones combined the silky sounding Neve desk and the rich and punchy Studer A80 tape machine. The Indie ADpak truly has the quality characteristics and attributes of a top class analog recording. The Studio The choice of studio for this ADpak was easy: Svenska Grammofon Studion (In English: The Swedish Gramophone Studio) also called SGS located in Gothenburg, Sweden. SGS is one of the largest and best analog studios in Europe with its impressive 750 sq. meters (8070 sq. feet) in size. SGS hosts an endless collection of vintage gear from old Steinway uprights and rare Fender amps to Fairchild compressors and Pultec Eq’s. The gear list will simply make your jaw drop. Massive is the right word! The Recording We recorded in SGS Studio A’s largest room measuring about 120 sq meters (1290 sq feet) with half of the room with a height of 10 meters (33 Feet) from floor to ceiling. The walls are covered with oak panel in an old fashion tile pattern, which makes the decay character short and rich. We used vintage microphones on the kit except for the stereo room mics, which is a pair of highly sought after hand built Thuresson CM402’s. We recorded the kit through SGS Studio A’s Neve 8048 Console, known as the “Queen” desk since the legendary band Queen has been one of the previous owners. This specific desk was used on classic recordings by artists as: The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson and many more. We mainly used the 1081 preamps on the desk and went directly to the 2” Studer A80 tape machine and finally to the Lynx Aurora converters clocked by a Rosendahl Nanosync. Reaching to more recent composers, Michael Giacchino (Star Trek) and John Debney (Predators) are an inspiration for us as composers. It triggered a deep longing within us to create a tool series for scoring film in a way that just hadn’t been done before. Tutti opens a new world of rich cinematic orchestral sound and offers you a broad range of unique sounds with a character that is unmatched in richness and quality. What we did was create sections with full orchestral cues spanning 4 to 8 bars. Each cue was recorded in a staggering 5 positions and each of these positions is 100% available for editing in the effective Sonokinetic user interface. This library includes full orchestral samples like: Long and short tension builders, sustained patterns, highly detailed textures in multiple styles and complexities, full orchestral hits and big smashes, chord bending, glissandi and crescendi. Each cue has been recorded in multiple takes and a selection of the best takes is available in this sample collection, providing the composer with a tool that has so much variety and editing possibilities inside that no sample from this collection will ever sound the same, thus preventing over-usage or the feel of recognition. A little tweaking in mic positions, or choosing a different take of a particular cue will result in a different sounding musical fx or phrase. Something we are very proud to announce is the technical achievement to provide you with access to the uniquely created “Tutti” score by implementing it in the users interface. This will give you a straight gaze into the heart of this collection. It provides you with the extraoption to select a particular sound or fx you are looking for by viewing its content, progression, dynamics, length and speed. “Tutti” was recorded using a highly established and experienced cinematic symphonic orchestra with the best musicians, conductor, technicians and composers. We chose to include all orchestral sections, piano and celesta. Stopping our musician counter at 98. Each cue was recorded in ‘tutti’ formation and we believe the best way to do this was by a live performance. With this came the incredible sounding hall that “Tutti” was recorded in. Lo and behold, they actually work (OSX 10.6.8 SL - Logic 9/PT9) so I figured I'd share them. The guy who posted them made a really helpful step-by-step tutorial video on how to install and authorize these so I highly suggest that you watch it if you have any issues with installing these synths. Here are the written instructions if you want to blow off the video: 1) Using an actual Pc Computer or Parallels/VMware/Wine Bottle if you want to use a Mac 2) Open the "Windows Installers" folder and install all of the files one at a time. You have to install the Windows versions on your "virtual PC" even if you are working on a Mac. 3) Run each of the related Keygens after each installation for each synth. in other words if you install the minimoog after the installation is complete then run the minimoog keygen. 4) After all installations have been completed for the Windows installers you can locate the Selicense.sel file provided or located at: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Syncrosoft, or simply do a search for .sel and it will locate the file for you. Next, drag the Selicense.sel to your Mac's Desktop now at this point we are finished with Windows. 5) Open the "Mac Installers" Folder and install all of the files on your Mac, when you are done DO NOT attempt to run any of the programs if you do you will have to start all over! 6) Get the "SeLicenser.sel" file that you saved on the desktop of your Mac and drag it to Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Syncrosoft Soft-eLicenser and overwrite it. 7) Run eLicenser Control Center on mac located in your Applications folder and repair the license. If you use little snitch, you have to allow the Syncrosoft tool access when repairing the licenses or it won't work. All of the presets have been included Notes: Not tested these on a non-intel Mac Tested on OSX 10.6.8 - Logic 9 Important: Mac users need to install them on some kind of windows partition like VMWare, WineBottle, Boot Camp, Parallels etc… to have them authorized for Mac.
