Aran Goyoaga's creations for Cookies for Babies

2010-11-04T11:05:00.000-07:00

By Aran Goyoaga

I came across Aran Goyoaga's work by accident. As an avid online researcher (can't help it after my years at Google), I ran across some spectacular photography. My eyes were captivated by its combination of simplicity, elegance and composition. I looked closely and found the link to Aran's home page. I instantly knew that I needed to reach out and work with her.

I was even more excited after learning that Aran and I are from the same region in Spain and shared many interests!

Aran calls herself a food stylist, and I would agree with that. When you combine her skills at composition, her creativity, and her passion for photography, you have a sure formula for success. If you asked me to define Aran Goyoaga's work in one word, as difficult as that would be, for me that word would be "exquisite." We are thrilled that Aran recently shot a series of still lives for Cookies for Babies. Here are her adorable creations.

Aran, thank you! and congratulations on your exquisite work.

We look forward to our next collaboration!

Meet Brett Smith - Bakery Team Leader @ Whole Foods

2010-07-28T05:23:00.000-07:00

Brett Smith, Bakery Team Leader - Whole Foods Market

Brett Smith is Whole Foods Market's Bakery team leader at the West Paces Ferry store in Atlanta, which is part of the South Region spanning Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and North and South Carolina. He manages a wonderful team of professionals who prepare all-natural products in-house and also feature and support local vendors all year around. Every product, whether in-house or from local vendors adheres to Whole Foods' strict quality standards and use only all-natural ingredients.

Whole Foods Market has seven stores in the Atlanta area, and each bakery refines its product mix and merchandising to appeal to its local customers. That's what gives each bakery its unique flair.

To keep current with its dynamic demographics and economies, each region's bakery team leaders (bakery managers) regularly test product categories and production procedures.

Just as important, most of the new ideas come from Whole Foods' team members because they are deeply interested in bakery and its products.

These team members take food seriously, and their collective creativity brings a lot of value to their customers. They are outgoing ‘foodies,’ people who show a passion for food and eagerly express it. This goes a long way to getting team members who look forward to tasting products, helping customers and explaining the bakery's products.

It is delightful to work with Brett and his team!

A Good Day @ Whole Foods Market

These are the professionals that make things happen at this special place. They support local producers. Whole Foods' philosophy and quality standards are uniquely special - we are honored they have brought our products into their store.

Meet Christian Balbierer, of Chocolate Pink!

2010-06-27T07:14:00.000-07:00

Christian Balbierer, Chocolate Pink

We have read many articles in Atlanta's Food and Gourmet magazines and media about Christian Balbierer, co-owner of Chocolate Pink Café, my favorite patisserie in Atlanta.

Whether you want to enjoy your favorite tea, coffee or hot chocolate in a refined Cafe environment, or simply stop by to bring home a French-style pear tart or a decadent cupcake, Chocolate Pink has it all. From the moment you enter Chocolate Pink, you are hooked.

The magic, however, happens at Christian's lab. His passion for chocolate, pastries and cakes goes back to his years in France and as a restaurateur. His discipline, drive and philosophy as a Chocolatier and Executive Pastry Chef are the secrets of his success.

           As Christian would say...

Piedmont Pediatrics - Dr. Laura Harris, MD

2010-06-16T11:13:00.000-07:00

Dr. Laura E. Harris, MD

We recently had the pleasure of sharing our cookies and our story with Dr. Laura Harris, a Princeton and Emory educated pediatrician with Piedmont Pediatrics, one of the most well known and respected pediatric practices in Atlanta, Georgia. We are very happy that she agreed to share her impressions with you:

"Cookies for Babies are delicious!!! As a pediatrician, mothers often ask me 'what type of healthy foods can I feed to my infant (or child)?', and Cookies for Babies will now definitely be on my list of healthy, yummy foods that are safe to try for your baby as they start finger foods! Also, they are a great organic alternative to processed foods for your older children, and yourself as well!!!"

Thank You Dr. Harris for sharing your thoughts with us!

Dr. Harris has received several awards, including the Patients' Choice Award.
She lives in Atlanta with her husband and her three young children.

My Daughter's Faves

My 5 year old daughter is in kindergarten. Here are two of her drawings. We have kept all her drawings since she was 3 years old. I love all of them, but these are two of my favorites.

About our Organic Cookies

2010-04-13T09:50:00.000-07:00

Back in 1877, a culinary icon was born in the Basque region of Spain - Maria Manuela Eugenia Carolina Mestayer Jaquet, known as the “Marquesa de Parabere.”

Daughter to a french diplomat and granddaughter to a wealthy banker, she wasn’t expected to make her own mark. And while she had servants, butlers and cooks at her beck and calling, her love of cooking and baking drove her to be a restaurateur.

A restless and unconventional woman, she opened two fine restaurants, where aristocrats, politicians and diplomats were frequently seen. She authored two major culinary encyclopedias acclaimed as “kitchen pearls” in Europe and throughout the world. Fortunately enough, we inherited a 1933 edition which has been carefully preserved in our family.

We have delicately adapted one of the Marquesa’s recipes to bring you an up-to-date, organic version of a timeless classic to please today’s palates, young and young at heart.
