Have you ever had a huge blowout with someone, and then had your relationship be a million times better after? What is it about us that makes us sometimes wait until we're going to explode to deal with issues, and then they all come tumbling out at one time. I had this recently, where it served to clear the air and really just gave us (well, me at least) a better understanding of the other person's viewpoint and issues, and how to move the relationship forward.

I also had a situation happen recently where I thought my life as I knew it was going to end, that a tragedy had taken place and everything was going to change. I felt so fortunate when I found out that everything was ok, and it was just a few being not being competent, and not having a handle on the situation, along with the person in question not being where they should have been. Hearing my love's voice after that was just the best, and seeing him the next day and hugging him was really intense. I can honestly say I've never loved anyone like this, and it's very powerful! I am glad that we're confident in our relationship. I can honestly say I don't think he's going to cheat, or do me wrong. We've worked through some of our issues, and even though we may drive each other crazy sometimes, I always know that he's the one for me.

My bro is coming to visit with his gf next week! Here are the suggestions I threw out to them:

I'm happier than I've ever been, and more at peace with myself that I've ever known. I feel confident, competent, and driven. I feel like I'm where I need to be, and am heading where I should be.

I am honestly grateful. I have areas where I could improve, of course, but I see myself getting better. I won't take anything for granted.

I read this William Blake quote today

“Those who control their passions do so because their passions are weak enough to be controlled.”

It made me think, you can be passionate and still channel your passion so that it is received by others, but you don't ' need to dull it. What's your passion? Mine is nurturing, wheather it be through counselling, diet plans, or yoga, nurturing others is what makes me tick.

Spring Sprang Sprung

My garden has started! I'm growing beans, tomatoes, beets, radishes, cucumbers, herbs and lettuce. Oh and flowers too!

My little garden!

We've moved into a new spot. Moving is.....really tough. It always brings up a lot of emotion in people. And if you're holding stuff back, it all comes to the surface and kinda explodes. Alas, we just have to keep following our hearts.

My goals for this summer? Bike ride picnics, Grouse Grind, Wreck sunset, Island Trip, Camping Trip, and hopefully a boat ride.

OTher than that, spending as much time in the backyard at at the beach as possible.

Titan is loving the yard. That alone makes the move worthwhile.

Tomorrow I start a spring detox! One week of clean eating and living :) I haven't been to yoga in a couple weeks, looking forward to getting back into that as well. Lots of stuff is going on in my life, between starting on the Board of Directors for a charity, potentially starting working on a newsletter for another organization, starting a new job, and of course the move. I'm really one lucky, blessed woman.

I've been doing lots of yoga lately, at least two classes a week. I'm feeling pretty amazing because of it! My body is strong, my mind is more calm, and I'm looking pretty decent too :) This photo was taken on Granville Island, on my way to a morning yoga class.

My visit home during the Christmas season also helped me reset as well. It was good to connect with my family, catch up with old friends, and have some down time.

I read this article in the Huffington Post yesterday that explained some of hte benefits of yoga. Check it out!

It's time to walk Titan, before getting myself ready for a night out with the girls. Wishing everyone peace, and sending sunshine out there.

There are many things in life I am passionate about. Family, friends, travel, music, yoga, fashion to name a few. But one of my biggest passions comes from food. Since I was young I have enjoyed reading cookbooks. I remember being 14 years old reading my Mom's Loony Spoons Cookbook from cover to cover, thinking about all of the food I could make. I enjoy cooking. I love watching the Food Network. I love eating, even though I eat a restricted diet because I am vain.
I am currently visiting my parents in Ontario, and while I was reading one of my mom's cookbooks I was thinking about how I could turn this into a career of some sorts.
Something to reflect upon for my last few days here. I read in a magazine that sometimes it's better to listen than to ask, so that is what I am going to do with my time. Meditate, stretch, rest and listen.

Right now I can honestly say I am happier than I have been in a very long time. There are so many things in my life which I'm thankful for, from my wonderful boyfriend and our puppy, amazing family and friends, great job, good health.....life is really great. I realize everything could change in a second, so I'm trying to appreciate everything as much as I can.

For those of you who know me, you know I live in the moment. Very much so, in fact. The way I feel, the way I act, pretty much everything. I have been working more at taking a step back at situations, and not thinking that the situation that is happening RIGHT NOW is the way that everything is always. People fight, it doesn't meant that they hate you, or don't want to ever be around you. Probably am important realization ;)

Anyway, it's Friday! My love sadly is far, but he'll be back early next week. I'm going to spend my weekend mostly relaxing. I have plans for dinner with a group of friends tonight, and the Kanye/Kendrick concert Sunday. Other than that, there should be lots of time with my feet up, taking puppy for some walks, and doing some organization at home.

Since I'm back in the city, I'll be getting back into volunteering with organizations on the DTES. The Covenant House (helping at risk youth) and WISH (helping women and children) are two which I have upcoming orientation sessions for. Click the links to learn more about the organizations!

An International non-profit I have recently started to be involved with is Vitamin Angels. They help at-risk populations in need—specifically pregnant women, new mothers, and children under five—gain access to lifesaving and life changing micronutrients. Check it out!

Thanksgiving weekend is one of my favorites all year. The weather is usually fabulous, everyone is in a happy mood,....the food is delicious, and you get to indulge with some of your loved ones.

It's also a time of year where people need extra love, extra food, extra thanks. I take a lot of affection and attention from my loved ones, especially at the holidays (Christie Christmas, anyone?), so it's important for me to give back as well.

There are tonnes of places in the Vancouver area which could use some of your assistance and time, research some that may be of interest to you and do your part!

Time seems to be speeding up lately....

Since the last time I posted, I've done and seen a lot of things and place. I had a great day with old and new friends at a trailer park and came up with an idea for a book, travelled to Vegas and made friends with rough looking gangsters, went on a road trip to Santa Monica/Hollywood/LA, watched The Bucket List and cried through the entire movie, climbed the Great Wall of China, dislocated my shoulder, walked in a Typhoon, helped plan the PM's trip to the mine, cooked for 150 people, and SO much more.

I'm still digesting everything I've learned recently.

My goal is to have a beach front home, with a garden and a dog within five years. Now I just need to figure out how to get there.
