Niche marketing is one of the most powerful marketing forms existent on the internet today. To be able to take advantage of it, it is important to understand what niche marketing is.

Niche is nothing but people who are interested in the same thing. Some may be interested in Golf while some others in Fly-fishing. Here Golf and Fly-fishing are niches. Niche marketing is a conception of getting involved in an area of marketing that interests you and making money from it. It also means targeting and attracting those groups of people that belong to your niche and making money selling them products. The idea is to find a niche that isn’t too populated. It takes a great deal of research to be able to find the market that has a lot of demand and yet less competition.

Finding a niche
First thing that needs to be done is finding a product. Before deciding upon a product or service that interests you, a ton of research needs to be done. There are so many niches on the internet, that it is certainly no mean task to find a good niche. So, picking a niche with little competition is the hardest part, but once you find it, things get easier.

Keyword research
After finding a niche, you will have to do some research and come up with keywords for that niche. There are several tools that suggest good keywords and keyword phrases. Not only the keywords, they also give you the number of searches made for that keyword and also the competition. Suppose your niche is “Golf”. Type in Golf in the keyword column and these tools will bring back several keywords for Golf, like “Golf Balls” and “Golf clubs” etc. Choose what exactly you are going to target. Never target a wide niche like Golf, always target sub niches like “Golf Balls”. Look for keywords that are in demand and have less competition. The reason for not wanting to target wide niches is because of the heavy competition and if you are new, you may not even stand a chance against the big wigs up there. Anyway, why would you want to take the difficult route when there is an easy way out?

Keyword rich domain
Once you settle on the niche, next step is to check if there is a keyword rich domain name available. Many people don’t think this is important, but having a domain with your keywords helps in the search engine ranking, thus sending heavy traffic your way, resulting in more sales, and finally our goal of more money.

Content site creation
You will then need to tackle this ‘Golf balls’ niche you have chosen. You will have to have a website. Nowadays, with all the free templates out there, creating a website is no big deal. But if you must, outsource the creation of website. Once the website is ready, since niche marketing is based on content, you will have to add content to your site. Write or outsource the work, but have at least ten articles written on the niche. Use the keywords in the articles.

Next comes the monetization of your website.

Monetization of the website
There are several ways this can be done. You can take the adsense route, go with the affiliate products, use PLR products, or create your own product.

Adsense: You can add adsense blobs to your website and earn a little money, but the money adsense brings in isn’t really much and not worth it in my opinion, if you are looking at the bigger picture.

Affiliate products: Having affiliate products related to your niche on your website is a great way of making money. Go to Clickbank and you will find many products. Look for the ones related to Golf balls, either Golf ball sets or ebooks on the latest golf balls or old ones. I suggest ebooks as they sell better, being digital in nature. Check for the products that are popular and pay at least 50% commission. Try and get more than two products and have them on your website. Another option is to buy PLR products and sell them on your website. You don’t have to write your own ebooks. Having said that, although it is not essential, there is nothing that can match your own product.

Submitting the website
Although, this point does not need to be mentioned, you need to submit your website to the search engines once it is ready.

Website promotion
The crucial thing to any marketing is advertising. Having the greatest site on earth is not going to help one bit, if there is no promotional plan. How will people know that your site even exists or that you have this product up for sale?

There are several methods of advertising. This in itself is another topic for research. There is Adwords or article marketing, and many other ways. If you have no experience with Adwords, stay away from it in the beginning until you learn the pros and cons of Adwords, and until after you have made some money on your website using free methods like article marketing. You need to spend money for Adwords and if you are not experienced, you may end up losing a lot of money. You wouldn’t want that in the beginning.

Write articles and submit them to article directories, like ezine articles and go articles, and make sure you give a link back to your website in the bio box of your article. Submit at least one per week. This way you will have many articles rotating and this increases the chance of attracting more traffic.

You can also join forums and make sensible posts with your link in the signature line. Don’t do blatant advertising in the forums, that will only attract negativity and some forums may even ban you. The main thing about forums is building trust and in the long run this form of advertising works wonders.

This is all there is to the ‘niche marketing’ giant that has been making the rounds on the internet, with its tentacles spread in all corners and scaring the people that don’t know anything about it. Now it is time for you to tackle it. Go on and make money!

-- What is Elance?

Elance is a website forum, a marketplace that allows people from all over the world to actively participate in buying and selling their products and services. As a freelance writer you can offer your writing services with very little effort on your part. If you can surf the web, use email and generally communicate in English (yup, it’s the principal language used on Elance) then you are pretty much good to go.

-- How Does It Work?

It’s quite simple; Elance is a subscription based website that charges you a small fee to become a member. At the time of writing basic monthly subscriptions begin at $30. Once you’re registered you can browse all the active (open) projects and bid on the ones that interest you. As a member you can even set up a personal store front (profile) and showcase your products and services to potential buyers (and it’s not unusual to get direct enquiries from buyers this way.)

-- If Your Bid Is Chosen

If your bid is selected you will get the chance to decide if you want to proceed with the project or not. If you decide to go ahead then you and the buyer enter into an agreement (Elance provides templates and samples at no charge.) You provide the services to the buyer and the buyer pays you what they promised – simple.

Elance gets a small commission on all projects that are awarded. But don’t worry, there is no cost to you for winning projects – that’s the buyers responsibility and the buyer will be billed directly (it doesn’t even come out of the agreed project payments!)

-- So How Much Work Is Available To You?

That’s a good question; after all if you are going to spend at least $30 a month on a basic subscription, you really need to figure out if the subscription is worth it. The number of open projects varies, however it’s not unusual to find between 150 and 200 writing projects available at any given time.

-- And How Much Are These Projects Worth?

There are currently two types of project postings on Elance: BASIC and SELECT. If you have only chosen a basic membership then you can only bid on Basic projects. You will need a Select membership to bid on the select projects.

And the reason you would buy a select membership is simple – select projects pay more, are less likely to end without being awarded (yes there are people on Elance who post projects to “get a feel for the market” and have no intention of actually awarding the project!)

So back to the main question – how much are the projects really worth? Again, this data varies over time (I cover this and more in my new report on www.ElanceExposed.com), however here’s a quick ‘rule of thumb’ that I’ve found to be fairly accurate: If you multiply all the number of open projects by $250 and multiply that again by 70% you will get a fairly good idea. For example, 200 open projects X $250 X 70% = $35,000

-- But What About the “Big” Projects?

There are big projects on Elance, they get posted infrequently but they are available. As you might imagine these projects are usually posted by companies – not people – and they usually pay 5 to 10 times what a regular project pays. With this kind of payout you can imagine the competition is quite high, however pitching to a business is not the same as pitching to a person.

-- What About Gotchas And Other Issues?

There aren’t too many. The biggest one that springs to mind is that Elance currently does not offer a refund policy on their subscriptions. You actually have to get on board and sign up to get a feel for the Elance market. And to be quite frank, you really need to give yourself a fighting chance and sign up for three months.

If you signed up for a three month Select membership you would currently pay $150 USD. That’s not a huge amount of money, but it is a bit steep if you find out that Elance is not for you.

Do you have a lot of interesting digital pictures (scenic, wildlife, etc) that you don't mind sharing with others? Maybe taking pictures is a hobby of yours and you've acquired quite a collection over the years. If so, you could earn a nice profit each month by letting others use your pictures for various needs - brochures, websites, etc.

You see, businesses and organizations are constantly looking for new stock photographs to use in their promotions. Stock Photography is any imagery that is available for commercial use. These images can be of landmarks, people, events, nature, etc. With the explosion of the Internet (and digital cameras), regular Jane's and Joe's like you and I can sell our digital pictures to these businesses and organizations. Prior to the Internet, only established photographers had all the right connections needed to sell their photos.

My Little Experiment... Let me tell you what I did…

Back in 2004 I took a wonderful vacation cruise through Alaska. That place is awesome! What better place for me to test out my new digital camera. I ended up taking a few hundred pictures of some nice scenic views.

When I got back home I decided to try posting some of the pictures on some of the main stock photography websites that I use regularly for image content for my businesses. So I took an hour one evening and submitted a little over 100 photographs. The websites pay the photographer each time one of the members of the website downloads one of their photographs. So I now had 103 photographs that could be browsed and downloaded by the site's members.

Let me break here for a moment to say that I honestly didn't expect to make any money at all selling my photographs. I mean, I wouldn't even say that I'm an amateur photographer - I know nothing about taking photographs, other than aim-and-click. Fortunately, the digital cameras being sold nowadays make it extremely easy to take some nice pictures. But nonetheless, I was just looking for a fun experience to tell my entrepreneur audience about.

After a couple weeks went by, I logged into the website where I had posted the pictures, and to my surprise, I found that I was averaging $0.80 a day in profit.

Here take a look at my stats for the month that I joined (I joined on the 17th):

Incase you're wondering, the site pays 20 cents per download. I had 56 downloads for the month, so that's 56 x .20 cents = $11.20.

Now, this money certainly isn't enough to get me excited! However, I only spent an hour of my time, and only submitted 103 photographs. What if I submit all 350+ photographs I took while on my Alaskan vacation? What if I submit a few thousand photographs that I took from other vacations as well? And then, what if I submit all of these photographs to multiple Stock Photography websites?

It stands to reason that you could quite easily earn an extra $50.00 - $500.00 per month depending on the number of photographs you submit, and the number of Stock Photography websites you submit to. Granted, I really don't think that you'll get rich doing this, but an extra few hundred dollars a month does make a difference to a lot of people. It doesn't take much time at all to setup, and it's a lot of fun checking back to see which pictures people like! I have also heard of a number of people that earn a full time living from doing this.

So, exactly what do you need to get started?

1. You need some digital pictures (which you own of course) - there are some restrictions on the kinds of pictures that you can submit to the Stock Photography websites. Make sure you read the guidelines that each Stock Photography website has regarding the kind of pictures you can submit.

2. You need to create an account on the Stock Photography websites (which is free). Below is a list of three excellent (and very popular - meaning higher downloads) Stock Photography websites. To increase your profits, create an account and upload your photographs to each one.

* Shutter Stock: This is a great Stock Photography website that pays .20 cents per download. This is the website where I earned the $11.20 in the above table - it is where I originally submitted my 103 pictures. If you'd like, you can check out my 103 vacation pictures here.

* Dreams Time: This site is awesome. They have a very high payout between .50 cents to $1.50 per download.

* Big Stock Photo: Another great Stock Photography website. This site also pays quite well at .50 cents per download.

Okay, so there you have it... a fun and easy way to earn a little extra income each month.

A lot of people are now getting into online businesses and online marketing either to supplement their “real world” income or for it to become their primary source of income. Why? Because online marketing just provides them a lot of benefits!

First, you can reach just about anybody in the world who has Internet access if you market your products online. That means a wider market for you, which can translate to larger profits. Second, setting up an online business requires only a fraction of the cost required to set up an actual business establishment, which means a lot of savings for the business owner.

Another aspect that has attracted a lot of people towards online marketing is the fact that one doesn’t have to have his own products to get started. In online marketing, one can start making a lot of money just by selling, or even by just trying to sell, other people’s products. And getting started with this kind of marketing strategy is actually quite easy. All that one needs to do is to set up an agreement with an online retailer or merchant, and after everything is settled, one can immediately start making money by selling the merchant’s or the retailer’s products.

Incidentally, the most popular and the fastest growing method of selling other people’s products online is affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing, in its simplest definition, is a relationship between an online merchant or retailer, who has products to sell, and his affiliates, who are willing to promote the merchant’s product on their website.

In a typical affiliate marketing set up, the merchant provides his affiliates with banners and text ads that links to his site. The affiliates will then get these ads posted on their website and they get paid whenever traffic or sales is directed to the merchant’s website. Affiliates are often paid on commission basis, although other online merchants would opt to pay a fixed fee for the affiliate’s compensation.

Starting to make money online with affiliate marketing is relatively quick and easy. All that one has to do is to sign up as an affiliate for an online company that offers affiliate programs. An alternative method, and usually an easier one, is to sign up as a member of an affiliate network—a network that hosts a variety of affiliate programs for different online merchants or retailers. Signing up is usually free, although other companies and networks may require you to pay a particular fee. Such fees, however, are made as payment for additional services that the company may render, like providing you with tools and assistance to jumpstart your online business.

When you sign up with an affiliate marketing program, you are usually required to fill out a form containing information about yourself. Some affiliate programs may also require you to present the URL of your website and describe its contents. This will allow the retailers to verify that you actually have a website with contents that are relevant to their products. Some affiliate programs, however, won’t require you to have a website. After filling out the form and all, you are then allowed to choose the affiliate programs you want to promote.

After signing up with an affiliate program and being an actual affiliate, you are now ready to start making a lot of money by selling other people’s product online. How do you make money? There are actually a number of ways for you to earn money as an affiliate, and most of these ways depends on the type of affiliate marketing program you’ve gotten into.

Many affiliate marketing programs compensate their affiliates in either of three ways: pay-per-click (PPC), pay-per-sale (PPS), or pay-per-lead (PPL). In pay-per-click affiliate marketing, the affiliate is paid whenever he directs traffic to the merchant’s site. PPS and PPL affiliate marketing programs work rather differently. In PPS, the affiliate only gets paid when his referral converts into an actual sale. In typical PPS affiliate programs, the affiliate would usually get 15% to 20% commission for each conversion. PPL affiliate programs work the same way, although affiliates are paid a fixed fee whenever his referral converts into a lead for the company.

Some affiliate marketing programs are two-tier programs, wherein the affiliate is also allowed to recommend other affiliates to the merchant. In such affiliate programs, the affiliate would not only be paid for the traffic or sales that he would direct to the merchant’s site but also for the traffic or sales directed by the affiliates who signed up with the program through his recommendation.

Yet another way of earning more profits with affiliate marketing is through residual affiliate programs. Residual affiliate programs are affiliate programs where the affiliate gets paid a number of times for as long as the merchant keeps the customer the affiliate has referred to his site. One form of residual program gets the affiliate paid a commission every time the referred customer purchases something on the merchant’s site. Another form of residual affiliate program gets the affiliate paid a percentage every month for as long as the company keeps the referred customer.

With a lot of options available and a lot of ways to earn money, affiliate marketing is undoubtedly the most popular and the easiest way to make money by selling other people’s products online. As to how much money one can get from affiliate marketing actually depends on the affiliate. A dedicated and hardworking affiliate would certainly get more from the program compared to those affiliates who would simply sign up and forget about the program later.

I started surfing the internet waves since 1996 where the first IRC channels start poping out from the BBS ruins. Since then, i used the internet to make money either as an outsourcer or as an affiliate, promoting other people stuff and ideas. Lots of money were made, i changed my life bit by bit to the better. The bottom line is this : Noone was made rich by just sitting and enjoying bank accounts getting a pile of cash per second.

You must read and read A LOT. Search through ideas, promote your hunting instict on your competitors ideas and see how they manage to make money. Yes, you can make money from the internet. but you have to be prepared. You dont want to just waste money promoting ideas that will fail along with your wallet. If you're not prepared for reading then you waste your time here and somebody is going to get rich from your mistakes. If you are not prepared for what i am about to tell you just close this site. For all those willing to make money, here is the tip :
A great money making source is Google. Google has two programs Google AdWords and Google AdSense.

Google AdWords allows for example a site that sells products to promote itself. So when you open google to search, let's say a hifi stereo for some specs, Google will bring you the results found on it's database. But if you notice, on the top and/or right side of your screen, there will be the sponsored links. Even here, if you look on the top of this site, you will notice some extra links of the sponsors of this site. That's Google AdSense that allows webpages or blogs like this to make some extra bucks. Those sponsored links were from people that used Google AdWords to promote their products.

Now, how are you going to make money with Google AdWords? Well, by becoming an affiliate. There are many affiliate sites around, that pay a very good amount of money to their affiliates but how are you going to promote their products if you don't know how to do it? What i mean is, by writing a good advertisment for a product isn't good enough. So what you need is a good seminar on how to begin earning money as an affiliate with Google AdWords. Making Money With Your Blog

Ive sure youve heard before that its a possibility to make money with your blog and you may be wondering how this is possible. And were they really meant for making money or just for journaling your personal thoughts? Im not sure what they were intended for but they are great ways to make money.

I have a personal blog which is just my own private little place to go online and jot down my thoughts, but I also have my business blogs.

Back In The Beginning

Now to be honest with you in the beginning of my blogging experience I really wasn’t sure what I should do with my blog. I knew I wanted to make money with it, but I didnt know how. I didnt know what I could do to not only be a value to others so they would come back to my blog, but that I would still enjoy writing it.

So it was really important to me that I find a topic in which I would be excited about, and have enough to offer so that I could blog every week or so. After starting a blog that was meant to just be an add on to my business at MommysPlace.net and struggling with the direction of that blog, I came across one of Alice Sebas blogs. Which she used to write about her experience through a traffic product.

Every couple of weeks or so she would update her progress through this course. She would tell us all about her successes with this product and how great it was for her business. And it made me think of how I could do something similar.

Product/Service Focused Blog

This is when the light bulb moment went off in my head. This is when I realized what I should have been doing all along. I have been a member of a exclusive coaching program for mothers in business.

Since joining this program my business has seen great success. My income has increased more then five times what it was before I joined and my traffic has increased even more then that.

I enjoy and believe in this coaching program and it happens to have an affiliate program. I often got email from other work at home mothers who wanted to know my thoughts on this program.

Taking a cue from Alices blog I decided to start my own such blog. And named it http://MomMastermindsJourney.blogspot.com - okay, not a catchy title, but I’m no good with picking names

I used this blog for the purpose of documenting my successes with my business. My projects, new content added to my website, keyword phrases I was ranking foretc. Basically anything that had to do with my business, that was directly or indirectly because of my joining Mom Masterminds, I jotted down.

Not only was this the best move I could have made for my promoting this affiliate link it also served as a great way to really see for myself the successes my business was achieving and also to keep me on track.

This is one way you could make money with a blog. There are other ways you could make money with a blog if you dont want to devote a blog to one service or product youre promoting.

Side Kick Blog

For instance, my blog at http://www.mommyworkingvirtually.com is a side kick to MommysPlace.net and my forums. This is a blog in which I update my members on additions to the website, newsletter and forums. Updating any important telecommuting or business news and can promote my adsense and any other affiliate programs.

So this blog serves more then one purpose. My main goal with this blog is to get traffic to certain sections of my website. I have a large website and its not always easy for people to find my information. So this is a great way for me to keep certain new pages or sections of my website in the public eye and get traffic to those pages. It also serves as a way to make money with adsense and affiliate programs. And lastly it gives exposure to my forum and my newsletter.

There can be many ways and many topics in which you can make money and gain exposure to other businesses you may have or can help in creating you as an expert in a certain field.

Just take the time to really think about what you could be writing about and then how you can make money with that as well. You can take a look at others blogs to get an idea and see what other people are looking for.

Are you ready to take the leap into a blog? If so, its really very easy to set up a blog. The one resource I have used for all my blogs has been blogger.com. This is free, easy, and fun. There are many templates to chose from and you can customize yours if you would like.

I have used the general template for my mom masterminds blog and I have customized my http://www.mommysworkingvirtually.com blog with different colors and fonts then what it came with. I also have that hosted on my own domain, but you certainly dont have to do that.

Submit Your Blog

After you create your blog you will want to submit it to blog directories to help get your blog out in front of the public. Some of the directories you can try are:

Feeds

Next, you need to add feeds to your blog. What is a feed? Good question. I dont know the exact way to describe a feed nor do I have a lot of valuable information on this subject.

This is still very new to me, but I can tell you briefly what a feed does. You add a little graphic to your blog. It can be for someone’s yahoo page, msn page and other ways.

When they click on that they can add your blog to their personal yahoo page. Then every time you add a new post they are alerted on their yahoo page that you have posted AND it even shows the topic of the post and how long ago it was posted.

This is one of the best resources Ive found in keeping people coming back to your blog. They can subscribe to it so easily and they will be automatically updated whenever you have posted. Its pretty easy to add an RSS feed to your blog. The resource I personally use is at www.feedburner.com

Adsense When should you use it?

Well I have several sites, some of them I apply the AdSense to; to make a few extra pennies and some of my websites I wouldnt even dream of placing Adsense to.

For example, I will not use AdSense on a site that I wish to sell one product on, especially my own products. This can take your potential prospects away from what you want them to buy. Why would you risk losing them to your competition or to another site for a few lousy cents? Or dollars if you got the higher end priced AdSense ads on your site.

All sites where I am selling a specific product will not have any out going links for me. I want to keep them on my site for as long as possible.

However, I will use AdSense on sites that are more along the lines of Free Content websites. Usually these websites I set up, I use directly for making money with AdSense.

Whats interesting with AdSense is that your layout can have a detrimental affect on how much you can earn from using it. Of course testing and re-testing will be your ultimate tool in finding out what works best with your website.

I tend to stay clear of the lay out that looks like Googles sponsored ads on the main Google website. Everyone identifies these ads as paid and not as likely to have as many people to click through them.

Adsense can be a nice little profitable tool if used correctly.

You don't need to have a website to make money on the Internet. Here is
a proven strategy to make money online without a website:

Step 1: Find Affiliate Product

Find a product to promote where you make good commission on each sale.
Generally, you will get the biggest commissions on digital products.
Digital products are defined as something that is downloaded directly to
a customer's computer after purchasing, like electronic books or
software.

Since there is no extra cost per unit, no inventory and no shipping, the
commissions are much greater than on regular "physical" goods. The most
common commission on digital products is 50%. The best place to find
such products is Clickbank.com.

Sign up as a reseller (also called affiliate) for a product that looks
the most appealing to you. After you sign up, you will get a unique
affiliate link where you need to send people to purchase the product.

Your affiliate link will have a special code that will tell the product
owner that it's you who referred the customer. The affiliate link code
will allow your commissions to be tracked correctly and assigned to
you.

Step 2: Get Domain Name

Get a domain name to redirect to your affiliate link. A domain name is
a .COM name (like yourproduct.com). You can get it for under $9 at
GoDaddy.com. GoDaddy.com will allow you to redirect your domain name to
your affiliate link at no extra cost.

So when someone types in your .COM domain in their browser, it will go
to your affiliate link. The visitor will see the website with the
product you promote, and the commissions will be tracked correctly.

The reason why you need a domain name is that it's memorable and it
makes you look more trustworthy. Affiliate links tend to be too long and
arouse suspicion. For example, most people would rather click on the
link bestwidgets.com as opposed to abcwidgets.com?reseller=john

A domain name will make your affiliate link look like it's your own
website. So basically, you will have a product to promote and a website
to send people to and get commissions - without really having your own
website.

Step 3: Drive Traffic

In order to make sales, you need to get visitors to your domain name
(which will forward them to the website of the product that you resell).
You can pay for advertising and hope that your profit will be greater
than advertising cost, or you can use free ways to generate traffic.

The most effective way to get free targeted visitors to your domain name
is by writing and submitting articles. You can write short articles on
the topic related to the product that you promote. At the end of the
article, you include your author bio and your domain name link.

You will then submit your articles to various websites, and allow them
to publish your articles as long as your link is included. Your articles
will get published in many places on the Internet, and will be
advertising your affiliate link at no cost to you whatsoever. People
will read your articles, like what you have to say and click on your
domain name link ready to buy.

Once you start getting regular sales from your articles, you can go back
to step 1 and find another product to promote using this strategy. After
a while, you will build up a nice source of Internet income - without
even having a website.
