While hurricane Irene is on its way, I decided not to panic but instead create this week's Illustration Friday topic, "disguise". While brainstorming some ideas I remembered that my twitter account (that I've suddenly started using again like a beast for some reason) needed a new profile picture. Then I started thinking about twitter and socializing and how people use social networking to disguise their problems. Then I started reflecting about my own use of social media and if it is justified. Then... I illustrated, quietly pondering.

One of my friends loves Harry Potter and Chris Angel at unnatural levels. Thanks to her influence I started watching that mind freak guy on tv a long time ago for a while, then I stopped, that 'magician' was too obnoxious for me. Besides, I found a new Christ, David Blaine. I believe.

Windy days are no place for hats.

I'm happy how this little illustration came out, the lighting gives the idea of a storm is about to come. The hat being blown away was to show how quick the wind came; the little girl was playing having fun then suddenly a violent wind cap-naps her favorite hat.

School is over so now I have more time to say whatever comes to my head on my twitter. Then it occurred to me; What if the people 'following' you on twitter were really following you in real life? You would never know where they are, hidden in the shadows watching your every action.

This is my new twitter background I designed following this sweet tutorial. Now if I could just figure out how to edit my blog's background. Anyone know a tutorial? I have in mind my own illustration as the background, if anyone knows of a tutorial that can help me achieve that, then link me to it please!

I've always wondered if frogs can sleep. Then immediately wondered if they can dream when they are asleep. Then I google'd it. Then I made the illustration you see above. I tried a new illustration process; actually it was an old one but I just worked on the lighting to make it more dynamic and less flat.

I made a cute button for it too.

My friend and his family are trying to spread a really positive message, "Living is so big". I chose to help out spread the message in my own way, I illustrated. It happened to be valentines time so I thought up this little thing. To get a richer idea of what their doing go to their cite, livingissobig.com.

This is the original sketch, for obvious reasons the full idea didn't make it to the final design. I guess I like that kinda of an idea; Its like entering the garden of eden but, the fruits are rotten.

I had a lot of fun making this little illustration, laughing to myself in this public I was in for some reason, getting weird looks from the hot librarian (pretty sure she just needed an excuse to look at me). I made it with this free vector program called inkscape if you've heard of it? Heard of it? If not you should check it out its pretty sweet, after you check this sweet baby out.

It began with a modest pen, then flourished into a full scale design. I was thinking of meditation and the sandy beaches of cacon when I had the pen in my hand, this is clearly shown in the nice organic shapes flowing in the background. Crealy.

This design also survived my scrutiny and became a shirt. I sold the shirt to one of my favorite art teachers Mrs. Rice who helped me put together my high school senior year portfolio. She had the only shirt ever made, ever.

I did this little illustration for my older sister and my niece. My sister had been begging me for years now to paint something for her, but the projects she requested take time (which I always seem to be lacking). One day I finally decided to sit and work on something for her. Something that I can keep for myself and she can also have in her house.

valentines day flower sale

This is a poster I designed for my schools valentine thing. Three clubs combined to spend money to entertain the lovers of my school but couldn't think to pay me for my services.

Below are the independent illustrations that I used in the design. You can buy them here or die, because I worked very hard on them, I didn't even stop to eat, not that the poster was due that night had anything to do with my determination.

I've attempted biting roses like in the movies but, all I get is bloody gums and a bad taste of plant stuff in my mouth. Its hard to be a romantic, so I've decided to abbandon the whole romance thing and stick to good ol' solitude.

Don't go into a photo-booth without friends on valentines day, it doesn't do well to your street cred. Trust me it feels batman...

Im not sure why Michael Jackson came to mind when I was sketching out ideas for the poster. Is it because his voice is like a sweet melody of a well played harp? Why did I think of a harp just now? I may never know.
