Right now I am looting Fort Constantine. I've the armor you get from that bunker is supposed to be really special. My outcast armor seems to be better.

Since my last note, I was able to get the Weaponsmith Achievement. The dartgun is pretty handy against human enemies since their health keeps going down as the poison courses through their body. I am unable to find the robotmaker so I am still without a sidekick.

As I tried to complete the quest, "You Gotta Shoot Em' in the Head", I ran into a little snag. When I was talking with Crowley, I refused to give him the keys because I really wanted to know what was at Fort Constantine. This led to a firefight with most of the Underworld's residents. I think I used up 50 Stimpaks and a few missiles trying to fend off those ghouls. Not all was lost, however, as I am still able to sell things to the shopkeep. Too bad I can't trade scrap metal for Stimpaks anymore (the maintenance guy was shooting at me as well).

So far so good.

Call of Duty 4

It's interesting the variety of gamers I've met when playing Live. In Call of Duty 4, arrogance runs rampant and it's getting tiresome. I love it when a player runs their mouth when they've had a good game and then quit early the next game because they keep getting killed. The funniest thing I heard, just two nights ago, was someone saying, "Oh, man. It's almost great having player A and player B on my team but pogi23 is on here, too. He's not a good player... but I just don't know how he keeps getting all those kills." I've run across the 'generals', too. They often quit early when their troops don't listen to them. My personal favorite are those who like to chew out their teammates after a loss for something they either should have done or should have done better. I just have one thing to say to these players: Get over yourself.

As a follow-up to my previous day-to-day, Lydia never did respawn at Tenpenny and she somehow managed to walk all the way to Megaton unharmed. As an experiment to see if she'd respawn, I threw a frag grenade at her. I lifted her inventory key and quickly headed back to her store where I promptly looted her shop (again). Success! I now have the schematic for the dart gun but I haven't a radscorpion poison gland handy to complete it (and get the Weaponsmith Achievement).

On a sad note, Star Paladin Cross died when a deathclaw literally fell from sky. Cross kept pointing her gun at the sky while yelling, "I need help here!" Obviously it was a glitch since I saw the deathclaw land on her and quickly killed her with one swipe.

At any rate, here's where I am: I need a radscorpion gland to build the dart gun. I currently have 11 speech successes, 76 locations discovered, and 39 computers hacked. I'm trying to find the robot-maker (I forgot his name) to purchase a Mr. Gutsy (or some modified version).

I've finished the game and I was pleased with the ending. I'm not sure if any of the choices at the end would've opened a different ending but I'll find out sooner or later. As a note to myself: I chose to be selfless.

I've since gone back to a previous save to grab some of the Achievements. I'm beating myself silly for not coming up with this solution before. If I reverted to a previous save each time before I leveled up, those pesky good-neutral-evil level-up Achievements would've been finished a long time ago. Another note to myself (since I tend to forget what I'm doing when playing RPGs): trying to get the Schematics from Lydia at Tenpenny. But since I've pilfered the shop, she ran away fearing for her safety. This resulted in a crash and her being MIA from her shop. I'm waiting for her to respawn or I could just go back to a previous save.

Fallout 3 Revisited

It's been a few months since I played Fallout and I've forgotten how much fun it is to play. I've forgotten just how massive the map is, how many areas to explore, puzzles to solve, and super mutants to kill (5, btw). And I've noticed no matter how many options there are in RPGs, I always end up playing as myself (as close as I'll ever be to post-apocalyptic DC, that is). Maybe I am roleplaying since I know I'll never survive living in Fallout's world. Or maybe I'm just boring that way, who knows. I just know whatever decision my character makes, it's not so much what I think he'll choose but what I know I'll choose if I were my character. Okay, I'm overanalyzing this and I've given myself a headache.

Since these trophies and Xbox Achievements are all about bragging rights, I've created a list on how my Achievements translate into PS3 trophies. So far... 3 bronze and 1 silver trophies--then again Forza and Fable are Xbox-only titles. Oh well, I'll keep a track of it for my own amusement.

I've picked up a few games on ebay. Nothing new or fancy. I picked up PGR 4, NASCAR 08, Mass Effect, and Assassin's Creed. I'm trying to snatch up Oblivion but I think I'm better off buying a new one. Of the four, I'm excited about Mass Effect. The graphics is great and the story, so far, is engaging. The mechanics is not quite COD 4 nor Fallout but I'm learning it. It's like watching a movie (and participating in it).

Funny thing is, I've bought all these games but I have no time to play them. LOL

I'm not one for Arcade games but this one intrigued me. I'm always on the lookout for games cleverly disguised as brain games. After playing it for about 3 weeks, I've managed to expand my brain use to 41%. Now, whether or not this is accurate is anybody's guess. That's what the game says and I earned 15 gamerpoints and an Achievement. After looking over the Achievements for this game, it looks like 3 will be very hard to get: all of the online achievements. So, if anyone's interested, look me up and maybe we can help each other get these online ones.

Once you get close, Silas will lead you to Walker who will buy them from you (100 caps each if you win the conversation). This will start the quest, Head of State, provided you didn't run away. Go around the memorial to disarm frag mines.

I've noticed less and less people are playing COD 4. Could they all be playing COD 5? Or Gears of War 2? Or Fallout 3? There were a slew of games that came out in the last six months and a few of them are really good. I haven't bought anything new since Fable 2--thank goodness for ebay! And I don't think I ever will. It's nice to just take my time with games. Sure, I may not be playing the latest and greatest but I'm not that kind of a gamer. I'm the kind that plays five to ten seasons on a football game. Or exploring every nook and cranny in an RPG. Or climbing the Leaderboards in overall stats. Yes, I admit, I spend a lot of time playing video games (12 days of online time playing Multiplayer COD 4, and counting--I've broken into 698,000 global rank in Score). But I try to spread it out and make sure I don't neglect anything or anyone else. I think that's the key: moderation. I usually play until the wee hours of the night but not until everyone else has gone to sleep--it makes for lesser interruptions that way, too.

At any rate, I'm off to bed. *snork*

Just One More Turn...

Okay, so Civilization Revolution doesn't have an option to prolong the game--it ends right at 2050AD. The only time I was ever thankful for 2050AD in Civ IV was when I was losing. But when you're on a roll, conquering one city after another, going deeper into the enemy's territory, you just don't want the game to end. Or when you realize your spaceship will take just a year longer to get to Alpha Centuari, it'll get there if you play one more turn, of course, but you don't get a Space Race win.

I think they've oversimplified Civilization Revolution. Yes, I know, it's for the console crowd and I'm pretty sure my (then) three-year old PC can outrun my Xbox in processing power and graphics but what's done is done. It is a good game with anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes of play with each Civ (to get the Achievements) so I'm getting a good value buying it used.

I've picked up this game again after about two weeks of playing Call of Duty 4 and I'm reminded of why this game is so much fun to play: it is massive. Since I haven't played Oblivion, I call Fallout the adult version of Fable 2. They're both RPGs but Fallout, with its post-apocalyptic theme, feral mutants, radiation, a (somewhat) finite life, and its ability to make you feel how dire and desperate things are, it feels more adult. Just like in real life, I find myself pinching bottle caps in Fallout.

On the main quest, I'm on the second leg where I have to go to the broadcast center. However, I've completed nine side quests and I'm currently helping complete the survival guide. I haven't played a game this immersive nor as massive since my MUD days. And I think why I like this game so much, it reminds me so much of those text-based games I used to play. They say Fallout is open-ended but not like Accursed Lands. Fallout's Vault-Assisted Targeting System also reminds me of combat in Accursed. In both, you can target specific spots on your enemy's body, giving you the option to cripple his leg and, possibly, run away.
