I have a new nephew! Jeffrey Taylor Young :)

Just had one of those moments then you think "are all these kids really mine?".

An afternoon visitor. #hellospring

First graders are the best!

I asked Lincoln to watch Aidan for me while I made dinner...

The Three Questions

2014-03-29T08:54:00.000-06:00

It's that time of year again! Concert time! I got to monitor a lot this year, unlike last year, and I loved it! Especially being in the new building for rehearsals. Such a fun atmosphere.

The CDT concert this year was "The Three Questions", and I think it is one of my favorites that they've done. Kensie's 7th grade class danced "Childhood Lost", which was a sad dance mourning the king's death. The girls did such a great job! I had fun monitoring the dress rehearsal and got to capture some of their moments.

Kensie had kind of a hard year this year, and wasn't too fond of her teacher. She stuck with it and after concert realized how much she really does like dance. She's at the stage in life where she compares herself to everyone else, and unfortunately "everyone else" at her school seems to take competition dance and dances like they belong on So You Think You Can Dance. She tried out for Dance Company and didn't make it, and I think that really discouraged her. I think she is feeling better about it now, but at first I think she was kind of mad that she takes this kind of dance and is not like everyone else. It makes me sad to think that things are so competitive now, and I just want her to love dance like I do. We'll see how she feels next year, but I hope she sticks with it :)

I am in denial that my baby is almost ONE. This cannot be happening....but it is :(

Aidan started walking last week! I was hoping that he'd be my one kid to take their time walking, but no! He is super cute toddling around, so I won't be too mad at him. He has 6 teeth and a buzz cut thanks to unfortunate clipper accident! He is still the happiest baby and loves his siblings so much. He gets into all the cupboards and drawers, loves to try to get into the bathroom (toilet paper!), and bolts for the stairs whenever the gate is down! He's going to be a trouble maker :)

Lincoln's March

2014-03-18T08:58:00.000-06:00

Lincoln has had a fun month! He went to his first Pinewood Derby and had a ton of fun! Grandma & Grandpa Holbrook and cousin Becky came to watch.

He also performed in the 3rd grade play, where he was in the chorus and sang songs all about Aesop's Fables. It was so cute! He did a book report on Abraham Lincoln and dressed up and told the class all about himself :)

Brace Face!

2014-03-06T08:43:00.000-07:00

Oh boy! Here we go!! Kensie got braces today. She was super excited, and so was I :)

I think she makes braces look good! I am not excited to fork over $4,000, but I am excited for her to have beautiful teeth, and to get braces over with during middle school when everyone else has them, too!

February blahs

2014-02-20T11:11:00.000-07:00

February was a pretty boring month. I think it's my least favorite month. Nothing fun going on except for Valentine's Day. Matt was gone for work a lot this month, too. We did have some memorable moments, though....

We have been enjoying the Winter Olympics, and it brought back memories of the 2002 Olympics! I had to bust out some picutres of Alayna and I at a cross country event and of course the Roots hats!!

We also got to go with the May's to Desert Star, and laughed our heads off when they made Justin come up on stage during the Olio and sang a song all about him! They even got him to dance and sing along! It was hilarious!!

This day always depresses me...

Aidan's got some competition today, and he knows it! The boys don't know what to do with a baby girl around!

21st annual Immediate Christmas party. We should have done predictions ;)

The next Number 72! #daddysfootballnumber

Fun night with my Eddington cousins!

Tonight, only @waffluv for dinner will do!

Kensie didn't believe me at first when I told her there was a painting done by her great grandpa in her Utah History book. #fatherescalante

Wish me luck...

Finally!!

Kensie had her first dance class in their new building last night! Four floors of studios, black box theater, locker rooms, and lots of windows! It's amazing, and I'm jealous that I don't get to dance there :)

9 Months Old

2014-01-23T11:02:00.000-07:00

This kid is such a dream boat! He has the happiest disposition, and makes me smile all day long! He loves to eat big people food and will not eat anything pureed. He loves to sit on the floor and spin around in circles!

9 month stats:

20 lbs. 3 oz. (40th percentile)

28.5 inches (50th percentile)

4 teeth, two chubby legs, one ear infection. Loves to play peekaboo, cruise around the furniture, eat whatever mommy is eating, and laugh at his siblings.

He also keeps me on my toes at church! He loves the glass doors!!

Spy Kids

2014-01-11T10:39:00.000-07:00

I can't believe that Lincoln is 9 years old! He is such a good kid when he wants to be, and a stinker when he doesn't! He's quite the instigator when it comes to bugging siblings, but he will always do what I ask without complaining, and still gives me hugs!

He had a fun birthday party with some of his friends. He wanted a spy party, so the kids all got some shades and moustaches when they arrived! They had to think of a secret agent name, and got their finger prints taken. They played a game where they had to bomb each other (what boys don't love throwing things at each other?!) and navigate through a laser maze.

Lincoln opened his presents and we had a bomb cake and mini bomb donuts! It was a super low key and fun party, which was good because Matt left to go out of town for a store opening in New Mexico a few days before. He will be gone almost the whole month of January!! Ugh.

Conner, Ethan, Azer, Lincoln, Corban (Jonah came late so wasn't in the photo)

hehe!

Lincoln also got to celebrate with the Young's on Sunday! He got a sweet Utah hat (that he picked out at the basketball game grandpa took him to) and lots of fun things from his cousins!

This is our elf, Eddie. He's a good elf. After visiting the North Pole at night he comes back and hides (most of the time). He does not trash the house, create elaborate Lego scenes, or make a mess while cooking breakfast. I feel bad for the families who got naughty elves ;)

Winter Wonderland...at the bus stop.

Such a great night at YW In Excellence! I'm so proud of all the girls! Ceciley, you are the best!

thanks for the outdoor fitness tip... p.s. light snow? Um, no.

Christmas Day In The Morning

2013-12-26T10:24:00.000-07:00

What a great Christmas! The kids got up around 6:30 and we headed down to see if Santa came! He did, and they were all so excited! We spent the morning playing with toys, eating breakfast burritos, and opening more gifts. We got a TON of board games from Grandma and Grandpa Holbrook, so we spent all day playing them. So much fun! Later, we went to my parent's house for more present opening fun. Landon was thrilled with his Thor costume from Grandma and Grandpa. It was a fun, relaxing day, and one that I am always sad to see end.

Christmas Eve

2013-12-24T10:18:00.000-07:00

I love Christmas Eve at my parents'! So festive and nostalgic. We're getting pretty fancy with our Nativity. The Hallman's brought a bunch of costumes, and mom got some fun accessories. Dallin wanted to be baby Jesus, so Aidan was an honorary angel with Kensie and Mary. Thomas and William had to be Joseph and Mary again :)

Christmas Eve jammies!

He LOVES looking at the lights on the tree! And sometimes pulling off the ornaments :)

Gingerbread house: pre-disaster

Gingerbread house: post-disaster :( I bumped it while making dinner and the kids' surprise came tumbling out! They didn't get to break the house open on Christmas Eve this year, but they did get a gold coin for every nice thing they did leading up to Christmas!

Temple Square

2013-12-21T10:07:00.000-07:00

I got to enjoy the lights at Temple Square twice this year. Once with the youth, and once with our family & Grandma and Grandpa Holbrook. The kids loved the candy windows at Macy's! It was COLD, but so beautiful!

Party On!

2013-12-18T22:43:00.000-07:00

What are the holidays without a million parties, right?!

We partied it up most of December. I had my favorite party, a.k.a. December gourmet dinner night, and came home with some fab gifts. It's always such a fun night!

The ward party/breakfast was a hit with the kids, as usual. Santa came, and the kids (well most of them) were excited to sit on his lap! Aidan was fascinated by him!

The annual Young family party was another fun one! The kids mostly just love playing basketball with the big boys (my cousins) and follow them around all night! Santa came this year, and Landon was still unsure! Lincoln played a Christmas song, but Kensie chickened out of playing hers...

On the way home we drove through Christmas Street. So festive! I love Christmas lights!!

Grandma May's annual Christmas party is one we always look forward to! We don't see everyone as much as we should, and it's always fun to catch up. Grandma gave all the kids pioneer button toys and they had fun with them forever!

family outing in the backyard today.

Introducing the kids to one of my all time favorite movies tonight.

Someone decided to pull everything out of the pantry and organize it. I wish he'd do this with his closet...

Is Movember over yet?

Loving the first big storm of the season!

LOVE the snow! Arctic temps, not so much.

Thanksgiving

2013-11-28T22:22:00.000-07:00

We didn't do a Thanksgiving dinner at my parent's this year and the Holbrook's stayed in AZ, so for the first time I did an entire Thanksgiving dinner all by myself! It was so much fun!! We brined the turkey and it was fabulous. I made way too much food, but that's the best part, right?!

It was fun staying in pj's all day and just having a dinner with our family. The boys loved their gigantic drumsticks! Matt and Kensie did all the dishes after, which was my favorite part of the day haha!

We did go over to mom and dad's to hang out later, and the kids had fun putting on a puppet show with the cousins.

YW fun

2013-11-05T22:03:00.000-07:00

We've been having lots of fun in YW lately! We had a Mia Maid fall photo shoot with Colette, made sugar cube temples with all the girls, and helped make hats for the homeless. I really love these girls! I'm so glad I am back with them. They teach me so much!

Halloween Festivities

2013-10-31T21:58:00.000-06:00

Halloween was so fun this year! The weather was great all day. I got to help at Lincoln's class party, and Landon and Aidan had fun hanging out with the big kids! We had our traditional dinner in a pumpkin and spooky ghost cake for dinner, and Matt took the kids out trick-or-treating.

When they returned, the dump, sort, and trade began! They had so much candy that I ended up making some cookie bars topped with all sorts of chocolate candy the next day!

Kensie and her friend Lauren were Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Don't mind the crazy eyes!

Our 5th and final elephant! I am sad to retire this costume :( I can't believe every one of our kids have worn it!!
