Easy Salsa Taco Dip

When my sister had her house warming party I offered to make my Mom's Salsa Taco Dip. It is pretty much the easiest thing you can make ever and it is delicious!

Ingredients

8 oz cream cheese
8 oz sour cream
16 oz jar mild salsa
1/2 packet taco seasoning
2 cups iceberg lettuce, shredded fine
1 large tomatoes, seeds removed and diced
1 cup shredded mexican mix cheese
sliced black olives

Make It

Mix together cream cheese, sour cream, salsa and taco seasoning together in a bowl.
Next cover bottom of a glass container with the mix
Layer lettuce on top of mix
Top lettuce with tomatoes
Load up on the shredded cheese
Add black olives to top and done!

Spaceport

22 Months Old

Ace,

This past month has been a big one for you. You are saying so many more words together that it really surprised me. You have always been a talker but this month hearing you put words together to make your own little sentences really makes me realize you are no longer a baby but a little boy.

You are also so rambunctious. If there was one word to describe you that would be it. You are so busy and all over the place. You love to play, explore and entertain. You love saying hi to anyone and everyone.
You did the cutest thing. We have to attach the dogs to the leash so they can run around the backyard on their own so we have the least by the sliding door, you grabbed the end of the leash and Simon's collar and since he wouldn't get up you kept saying "Go Baby, go Baby!" It was adorable!

Some things you do now...

Puts cups in the dishwasher.

Helps Mommy feed the dogs and put their bowls away.

Is obsessed with his doggy bike.

Says "Ready to go." when we are going somewhere.

Signs "more" and says "more, again" when he wants to do something over and over again.

Says "there she is" whenever he sees something or we find someone or something we were looking for.

Says gooshie when he snuggles with his blankets.

Says "got you" for tickling and asks to play "got you" all the time. Also says "I got you" when he hugs us or we hold him.

Tells us when he has a dirty diaper and likes to sit on the potty but hasn't actually gone on the potty, we are holding off on real potty training till the Fall.

We love you bug! You are incredible and so smart and growing so fast. In 2 months you will be 2 years old!

Happy Monday Ya'll!
We had such a busy weekend it just flew by.

First of all I hope everyone had an amazing Mother's Day. I had some mixed emotions going into it since it was my first without my Mom but it ended up being a really special day with my guys.

We went to my parents' and grandparents' graves and then had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. We came home and put Ace down for a nap then headed to Menchies, which is like my total fave right now.

After that we headed to my cousins and I went to see The Big Wedding with my cousins Kayla and Teresa while the guys hung out at home. It was such a funny movie. Definitely worth seeing with girlfriends.
After that we had dinner and just hung out at their house. Overall I really enjoyed it.

Rewind to Friday, we went to the Tim McGraw concert which was ah-mah-zing! Bran and I met up with some friends and relaxed on the lawn and just listened to the music. It was nice to have a night away.

Saturday was my sister's housewarming party. It was so much fun. We had a babysitter so we could really enjoy ourselves and I got so see some old friends and make new ones.

I hope everyone else had as great of a weekend as I did. I think things are going to finally start slowing down. It has been a busy month or so for us!

Ok so normally for me Friday's are just like any other day. Weekends are usually when Bran works and I am home alone with Ace. Not this weekend though! Tonight Ace is with my cousins and Branden and I are heading to the Tim McGraw concert. Can I get a heck yeah?

Tomorrow is my sisters house warming party so we will actually have another night just the two of us and then Sunday is Mother's Day!

Since no post is complete without pictures I made a couple of photo collages on my phone from earlier this week.

One year ago today my brother's cousin gave birth to a beautiful little girl. Her name was Persephone and she was born with a heart condition that sadly took her life on the 20th of May last year. It breaks my heart to think of her older sister never knowing her.

I want to ask everyone to go out a do something fun and positive today in honor of such a precious little girl. Hug your babies a little tighter and appreciate their presence in your life. Tell them how much you love them. Life is busy and chaotic at times but days like today really open my eyes a little more and make me step back and see how short and incredible life is.

Jen, Lorin and Manon, we love you guys and Percy is never far from our thoughts.

I always hear people complain about little boy clothes and I totally get that. It is a bit more difficult to find cute clothes for boys. A lot of places just carry a lot of t-shirts with some animal or sport on them. I like to find different things for Ace and I have been pretty successful at being able to find super cute things for him.

Ignore Ace's closed eyes but this is the only picture I got of this outfit. I love a little boy in a cardigan. The shirt is a vintage style baseball t-shirt. It was super cute and the shorts are from Target. The cardigan is from H&M and the shirt I can't remember if I got it at Target or H&M.

Branden calls this his Mr. Rogers look.

This next outfit is a casual little outfit I just love for Ace. I am a huge fan of plaid and these are my favorite plaid shorts. They are from Target. I love this little plain t-shirt from H&M, it came in a two pack.

What I'm Loving...

It's that time again! What I am loving this week.

1. Crayola No Drip Paint Brush Pens. Ok let me just say these are the best invention for toddlers. I just tried these out with Ace last week because he loves to paint but I don't love how disasterous it always is so I bought these paint brush pens and he loved them. They can still paint but there is no dipping in paint and the tip keeps the paint from going all over the place. The paper also dries super fast this way. It doesn't give the same affect as finger paint of course but it is a good alternative to painting with paint brushes. They come in a 5 pack and a 40 pack, we have the 5 pack for Ace which works out really well for one child but if you have more than one I would highly suggest a larger pack or buying 2 of the smaller ones since they are easy to switch from one color to the next and kids can get really creative.

2. This Rose Gold Bow Tie Bracelet . All over Pinterest people are pinning the Michael Kors Watches with bracelets of the same rose gold tone and this is one of my favorites to pair with it. I think it is just so girly and cute. Oh and the best part? It is only $1.95!

3. B+B Pillow. I found this pillow on Etsy at the shop Polka Dot Pears and love it in our new house! I am slightly obsessed. It has the year we were married on it and it just has a really classic look. I am obsessed with dressing Ace cute but now that he is getting older I feel like it is getting a bit more difficult. The options for toddler boys are dwindling. I do love H&M because they have the cutest boy clothes but to get there its a hassle and they don't deliver, fail!

Hey guys! Here is another addition of What I'm Loving...

1. Recently a bunch of my friends were posting pictures of this adorable little car the Step2 Easy Turn Coupe. It is similar to the traditional Little Little Tikes Cozy Coupe. I loved that you can see your kiddo from the top on this one and it has a handle so if your child gets tired you can push the car for them. They are both comparable in price and I know people love the Little Tikes one but I have to say I am really loving the Step2 Coupe. Either way this is a toddler staple.

2. Ace is obsessed with this Baby Einstein Count and Discover Treasure Chest. It is my favorite toy to use to help him learn colors too. He will take the "coins" out of the chest and put them back in over and over again. I thought it might be a little young for him but seeing how much he loves putting things into other items I figured it was worth a try and it definitely was a perfect buy.

3. My new camera! Bran got me this ah-mah-zing camera, a Nikon COOLPIX P510. I had been wanting one that was a little better than the one I had before but I didn't want to buy the super expensive ones where you can change the lens because I just don't have patience to learn to use those and this was like one step below that. Bran found a great deal on this one on Amazon. It came with the SD card, case, tripod and a cleaning kit. You can get it with all of the fun accessories here or alone here. It is $100 difference which is still less than it was at Target!

4. I am really into this Sterling Silver Wishbone necklace and have yet to get one but I saw this one on sale for Mother's Day and I think a certain someone may need to get this for me. ::hint hint::

5. Last but not least I am seriously obsessed with these 'Staches Drink Markers if you love entertaining or have a party coming up I would highly suggest these drink markers. Not only are they totally fun but they are pretty hilarious. A great way to add a little something extra to your party.

Saturday was such an awesome day.

My dress: The Anchor & Bows Boutique, Cardigan: Old Navy

I got to spend the early afternoon with my cousins. It was my cousin Trina's baby shower for her baby girl Mckenna. Trina and I are only about 7 months apart and our boys are about the same age difference so it is really cool that she is having a little girl. Maybe this means we will be expecting another one soon to continue the trend? Ha, wishful thinking?

I must say, it was one of the most relaxing baby showers I have ever been too. It was more like a sprinkle, small, sweet and easy going. We all just basically hung out and talked, ate lunch and then she opened presents. She didn't want any games for this shower since it is her second baby and just wanted to relax. I had a really nice time. I can't wait to meet Miss Mckenna!

When I got home I was greeted by a super excited 21 month old screaming Mommy! Mommy! So cute. I rarely get that because I am usually the one home with Ace and so Daddy always gets the super excited greetings.

Bran and I took Ace to an early-ish dinner. It was perfect. We went to Chili's and since it was fairly early everything was quick and easy going. No waiting for our little guy. That makes such a huge difference when eating out with a toddler. Ace was excellent. We brought some major reinforcements with us but only needed to pull out our crayons and coloring book because Ace was so excited about his chips and dip.

He also was talking to everyone and flirting a lot! We had sad right next to where the employees were dating breaks to eat so everyone kept coming over and complimenting his eyes and how funny he was. He is seriously the biggest flirt.

After dinner we walked to the park. Ace is obsessed with ducks so it was cool to see one under the playground when we got there. I think it may have been a mama duck sitting on her eggs because it looked like she was guarding that spot hardcore. I am trying to teach Ace that we don't chase or bother ducks, just look at them. He did pretty well, only once he tried to get closer but he was really good about listening.

When we were walking home Ace wanted to push his car. How big does he look?

Something super cute Ace has been doing that I do not want to forget to post about is he sings the "Bad Boys" song. When our family friends watched Ace last week they were like we taught him to sing bad boys and now he goes "Bad, Bad Boys. Bad, Bad Boys!" I need to record it because it is so cute! He also sings Disney Junior! Ha!

That was our Saturday. I will write about Sunday later.

21 Months

Ace,

You are now 21 months old. You are becoming such a big boy, its unreal. You are still quite the talker and repeat everything.

This past month been such a crazy handful but we are trying to embrace your rambunctious personality. because it definitely is awesome seeing you be so outgoing.

You love coloring and painting. You love jumping and bikes.

We are trying to teach you to stop throwing since this has been a big thing you have done the past month. You also began hitting again, which we are not a fan of.

You love helping bring groceries in, feeding and walking the dogs. You are such a big helper.

We bought you a baby doll and you just love it. You are super loving and sweet. This month you have gotten really into cuddling too which is awesome.

Says "want it" when he sees something he wants.

Has used "I" which I thought was really cool.

You love going up and down our new stairs.

You just started telling us when you have a pee pee or poopy diaper but not all the time.

As far as size goes you are in 2T tops and still in 18 month pants, you have such a skinny little waist and broad shoulders, our little linebacker.

We love you little guy! You are so awesome, happy, sweet and funny. Everyone seems to just love your personality and smile. We are so proud of you and can't wait to see all the new things you do next month!

Weekend Rewind!

This past weekend was super busy but so much fun. Since I haven't posted much since last week I am starting on Thursday since I have some cute pictures from that day.

Thursday we went to our first Story Time at the Library near our new house. It wasn't too bad but the best part was seeing our friends Lindsay and Payton. Payton is just about the cutest thing ever. She also made me slightly jealous that Ace isn't a little more contained when we go out, ha!

How cute are these two together? First Payton gave Ace a huge and he was like what is going on here? Then he gave her one and she was way too into her stickers to care.

Friday my friend Anna came down to visit. She is ah-mah-zing! Probably one of my most favorite people ever. She moved to NYC when I moved to Tampa and so whenever we can get together is always a fun time. We went to surprise my sister since she didn't know Anna was coming down and just had a great day.

The dogs and Ace were obsessed with her!
Later on that night my sister took Ace so Bran and I could have a date night.

Bran gave me a kiss and Ace came over and grabbed onto me. He is so sweet.

Saturday wasn't too exciting because Bran worked but later that night we had to put up a gate on the stairs and Ace got his tools and helped Bran put it up. Talk about cute, right? BTW don't mind our stairs, they are bare right now since we have to get flooring on them.

Sunday we went to a Bar-B-Q at my sister's house and Ace loved the pool with all the kids and my brother and his family came and Ace and his cousin Gavin are just under 3 months apart so it was super cute seeing them together.

And how cute is this picture? He only has eyes for his cousin Brianna, every time he sees her he runs straight for her.

Just Give Me a Reason!

Is everyone else as obsessed with this song as I am? I can not get over how cute Pink and her husband are in this video too and who does love Nate Ruess? His voice is ah-mah-zing!
I could just replay this video over and over and not get sick of it. I am wondering if this has to do with their break up/divorce awhile back and then getting back together? Who knows.
Anyway I had to share my hardcore obsession. I already have a total girl crush on Pink as it is.

Crafty Activities for Kids’ Parties

One of the primary challenge that comes with hosting any kids’ birthday party is keeping all of those little ones busy until it’s time for their own parents to take them home. Between the excitement and the sugar contained in a typical birthday party just keeping up can be more than a parent can do. Games will wear them out, but choosing craft activities will give them an opportunity to be creative while they play, and may even leave them with a great souvenir to take home with them.

Finger puppets are great fun and each child can take home their own set! Use pipe cleaners or fabrics, and don’t forget the classic brown-paper-bag-puppets we all made when we were kids. For longer parties or sleep over celebrations, you could also have them decorate a cardboard puppet stage and come up with a show to put on before the end of the night. Flex that visual creativity AND their storytelling skills, while building a little story-time into the evening to mark the time to bring it to an end.

A mural is an excellent activity for kids, and something that your child can keep and decorate their room with to remind them of the great party you threw for them, and of all the friends who wanted to come and celebrate him or her. This is probably an activity best planned for outdoors or in the garage, but with the careful use of a tarp or a series of newspapers, it can be accomplished inside pretty safely. Remember to make sure that each child is getting a chance to participate and a space to work in, whether or not they’re the most artistic of the group.

Decorating T-shirts is lots of fun, and each kid will have a specially made item to take home! Use crayons or grease pencils for younger kids to reduce the mess, but for an older group consider setting up outside for tie-dye. It’s really a very simple process, requiring only die and rubber bands, and anyone can do it. All you do is twist up a part of the blank T-shirt and put the rubber band around it, then dunk it into the color you want. Trial and error will lead them to the best combinations of colors and the patterns they prefer, so having a few blank shirts for each child is a good idea.

Kaleidoscopes
It's all about color
This does require a few more elements than most of the craft ideas proposed above, but your party guests will be blown away when you teach them to use mirrors and paper to make a homemade kaleidoscope! Let the kids cut up the colorful paper and decorate the outsides of their tubes, then learn about refracting light when it comes time to put together the mirror and enjoy the beautiful colors. Each one will be entirely unique, and the kids will love taking home the kaleidoscope they made themselves.

Working with clay is a great activity for kids as it gives them an opportunity to really get their hands dirty while being creative and productive, but it can seem impossible to accomplish at home, since a proper kiln should heat up to nearly 2000 degrees. However, there are some great no-fire or air-dry clays on the market. Ceramics made with these items won’t be waterproof or oven-safe, but they will be handmade and great for decoration or storing things like keys and change.

If you follow me on instagram then you probably saw this picture of Ace.

The poor boy totally rolled into our lake.

We were outside playing tag and after we were done I sat down and was showing him the ducks in the backyard. He got up and went to walk closer to the lake and I said "don't get any closer" so he stopped and when he did he fell forward and did a little summersault into the lake. I grabbed him then I slid in. Poor guy went under for a second and it wasn't deep or rocky so he was fine but he was soaked, head to toe.

Goes to show it really does take a second.

Crusin' like a pro, chugging a milkshake!

Now that Ace is getting older some months are bigger than others and less milestones are happening. Some months he does more exciting things like last month he went to Mexico and he isn't even 2. Talk about blessed. So I decided to try to make a list of some big events, milestones, memories, ect. This is similar to a monthly update but different because it's more of just a list to keep tabs on what has gone on. I meant to start this earlier so March is a bit hazy.

1. Went on your first cruise.
2. Went to Mexico.
3. Moved into a new house.
4. Cut your Canine teeth.
5. Keys trip with Kat, Jaime, Ashleen, Brielle, Uncle Mike, Aunt Teresa, Kayla, Mommy & Daddy.
6. Started calling us Mommy & Daddy "Dah-E" more often.
7. Learned to sing Joe Diffie.
8. Started helping us walk dogs.
9. Modeled for The Anchor & Bows Boutique.
10. Became obsessed with "dips" when you eat.
