Jade Marriot is always a top choice for premium chinese/asian food lunch in Medan. The food was prepared professionally by famous chef and the ambience is just perfect for a fine lunch or dining.

Jade Marriot is located inside JW Marriot Hotel in Medan.

For this lunch we pay ard 250k rupiah per person which is very reasonable.
The set lunch include
1. Dim sum set for appetizer
2. Pumpkin soup
3. Steamed fish
4. Fried ciong fan
5. Dessert.

This is the legendary curry rice/ bihun(rice noodle) in Medan, Indonesia.

The unique taste of curry with kampoeng chicken or beef has definitely bewitched medanese for generations.

The shop is located at Jalan Wajir just in front of brastagi fruit market.

This is a recommended place to eat for breakfast or lunch. The place can get quite packed during lunch hour.

The shop also served mie pansit (wonton noodle) and several type of local drinks like markisa and kietna.

Samsung Note II

Finally today i can post a thread here. My samsung note 2 suddenly can not start in the morning. It only shows the samsung note 2 title.

I took it to the service center. The technician try to format and reinstall the os but error after loading for a few minutes. She recommend me to leave the phone for further examination. I left it there and then the day after i call the service center only to know that my phone sparepart was broken. She said to me need to change the "machine".

It cost me 1.6 million rupiah ( est ard 150 usd) to repaired it with new sparepart. I asked her why the sparepart was broken, she said because i upgrade the os, she recommend that i never upgrade the note 2 android os.

Now my phone is completely running... but i still feel hurt by the fact that i need to pay usd 150 for the sparepart and for the mistake that i am not aware of which is upgrading my android OS.

Istana Koki

Istana Koki is a recently opened indonesian restaurant which provided different taste of food from all over indonesia. They have maluku, java, and many more. All this really sums up the name as the chef's palace.(english of istana koki)

I ordered the udang bakar madu ( grilled honeyed prawn) and gurami bakar brawijaya (grilled gurami in brawijaya style). For drinks i prefer a more neutralizing drinks such as young coconut.

The special about the young coconut here is everytime when i ordered, the coconut is young and the flesh is very soft while in other similar places sometimes they can give 'old' with a thick and hard flesh.

This place is quite unique because it is one of the few restaurants in Medan that provided free vegetabales and Rojak. ( it is all u can eat and free).

Overall the place was nice but during weekend at lunch or dinner time this place can be very crowded.

Morning Glory Cafe

Featuring today for lunch at our lovely city, Medan, is Morning glory cafe.

The ambience here is very relaxing although the place is quite small. During lunch time this place can be quite packed.

So far the food and drink provided here never fails us. Tried the avocado coffee and fish and chips before. They tasted just right.

Today we ordered roasted chicken with green chilli rice, Creamy seafood fettucinni, Calamary rings, and honeyed rosella tea.

Roasted chicken was good especially with the authentic indonesian hot taste of green chilli. The pasta was al dente, and the sauce was very creamy and rich in flavour.

However the calamary rings today was not really good. It is just like the chef forgot to add a bit of salt.

Overall today visit was satisfying, the total bill is around Rp 162.000,- all in.

Kinley sun plaza

Having dinner at Kinley sun plaza the newly open cafe in the mall.

The cafe serves mainly thai food which is why the theme was more to bangkok street food. It is a nice place to visit.
Food was good but the air was far from excellent due to several smokers inside the cafe. The smoking area and non smoking was not separated.

This is a cozy place to visit during weekend to have good food.

Overall
Food = 8/10
Place = 7/10
Air = 5/10

I ordered the thai fried chicken wing, seafood curry in somboln style and basil chicken rice.

Kawah Putih Tinggi Raja

Kawah Putih (White Crater) located at tinggi raja ( around 2 hour drive from Medan City) is one of the must go nature travelling destination in North Sumatera.

Though the access road to the location is not good because lack of government attention, it has not deter many domestic tourist to visit the site. It is not recommended to go during rainy weather because the road can get quite slippery.

Tinggi raja local people might ask to take us around the crater, and as a return they ask for a fee.

To take picture, they will also ask for a fee which is not much, around Rp 2000 per person per spot.

Awai Mie Pansit (wonton noodle) is one of the legendary must try noodle in Medan North Sumatera. Originally opened at Siantar city (located around 120km from Medan). Due to overwhelming demand, the owner decided to opened branches in Medan.

Change of schedule from kalstar aviation

Here i am stuck in sampit airpot, H. ASAN, with three friends of mine due to change of flight schedule without prior information from the airlines.

I have spend one and a half month in central kalimantan / borneo with my friends and were expecting this home flight so much. We have prebooked the flight on 27 november 2013 on fear that we might not get a ticket.

This morning we woke up early at around 5.30 am to get prepared and have a breakfast. We stayed at Idola Hotel in Sampit. At around 7, we have finished and checked out from the hotel. Our collegue take us to airport using the old rustic office car. It tooks around 30 mins to reach the airport

Upon arriving, we stood in front of the airport because it has not opened yet. The office hours start at 8 am here.

While waiting we took a look at the flight information screen. We were shocked to find out that out flight that was supposedly fly at 8.50 am was changed to 11 am. We went to the info4mation counter to ask but the guy there ignorantly reply us saying he didnt know.

We then walked to an officer asking him. He told us the flight has been changed to 11 am since few weeks ago. We were devastated. We then go to the canteen to have a drink and waste our time.

This is very annoying. It's either the airline didnt inform us or our travel agent didnt told us.

During my visit to chiang mai, i squeezed in time to visit Kruba Noi at wat sri dong moon. It's not on my itinerary with my friends because they didnt want to visit another wat after visiting to many historical wat.

We finished our trips at chiang mai at 4pm at went back to hotel for a rest. When they are sleeping i feel so un easy because i havent visit him. For your information, i have been wearing kruba amulet for almost 2 year.

Then i decided to take tuk tuk to his wat alone. I negotiate with the driver. It only cost me 300 baht for round trip. So i decided to go.

Arriving at wat sri dong moon after 30 minutes ride, i am welcomed by an uncle who requested me to quickly find kruba inside. Being so new to this place, i didnt know where kruba sit. I walk around and then i meet that uncle again. He point me to a direction where kruba is seeing his follower. I went inside and didnt know any thais. I just said to kruba i am from indonesia and he laughed. He bless me and my amulet and gave me a envelope which i didnt know what to do with. I walk outside and meet other follower. I ask him what should i do with this envelope? He said put money inside and give to the box.

Suddenly i feel so awkward, i put some money inside and donate to the box.

Medan Kuala namu international Airport (KNO)

25th July 2013, Medan legendary airport,Polonia International Airport which is located in the city ceased operation and have been replaced by KualaNamu International Airport (KNO).

KNO, dubbed as the most modern airport in Indonesia was planned to be developed as the three main hub in Indonesia beside Jakarta dan Makassar.

The trip to KNO from Medan City is around 45 minutes if there is no jammed. There are a few transport means to KNO :

1. Train
KNO is the first airport in Indonesia which has an integrated train system into airport. You can take the train from Stasiun Medan/CITY RAILINK at lapangan merdeka.

The trip cost Rp 80,000./ person (this cost is too expensive especially for family traveller because if you rent a car with driver you can get it at 160,000 per car (7person depend on your lugages)

2. Rental car
You can also rent a car to kuala namu at an estimate cost of 130,000 - 220,000 depending on the car and provider. There might be additional charges for trips outside normal working hours (normal working hours 7.00- 18.00)

Some hotels in the future might provided free shuttle bus i think.

Chiang mai trip 25-27 May 2013

I have just landed at thailand don meuang airport 5pm. Traffic to city from the bangkok international airport was quite good because it is weekend, the driver told me.

I planned to go chiang mai via overnight bus. The bus was departing at 9pm. For the space of time i went to erawan shrine and have a dinner at chinatown.

At around 7pm, i headed to the bus terminal near chatucak. We already pre-booked our bua ticket through a local travel agent so it is quite convenient.

We waited around 45 mins until our bus came. We boarded the bus, and suprisingly it is very comfy with only three person in one row unlike normal bus which usually have four seats in one row

We arrived at Chiang Mai 7 am in the morning and stop twice along the way and have one free supper.

After arrived at chiang mai bus terminal we we went to toilet to clean ourselves and i called the local travel agent who will provided us transport to touring around chiang mai.

The van arrived and the agent said that probably we can do an early check in and thanks god we can. We took shower at meet downstairs in one hour.
