I&#39;m about to try it out.  If you haven&#39;t heard about the 2.0 release, there&#39;s lots of big changes.   The most important to me is the core/ui split allowing for more  UIs to be built off of the libgaim base. I guess the TagLib doesn&#39;t work very well over smbfs.  I changed fstab to use cifs instead and remounted the shares.  Amarok scanned all of my music this way.  Not as fast as if it was locally stored, but it didn&#39;t freeze any. I started using it again the other day because Amarok had an option for the audioscrobbler thing.  And I downloaded the plugin for winamp on windows as well. So my list of played songs should be updated pretty constantly now.. Unless I decide to switch away from amarok..
