Dear readers ,

My blog is getting lots of users who really don't know what their iPhone is capable of ! Lots of them having problems specially with Jailbreaking & Tweaking, you may believe it or not but I never owned an iPhone because I was not a fan of them at all, but I started to fix them for my buddy's & my friends this is why I know how to tweak them & how to use them on their maximum capabilities !

I have a few projects that I'm working on , but I won't release them until I'm 100 % sure that they will work perfectly , here is my big problem, because one of my projects depends on having ( Owning an iPhone 4 ) for testing my program, my biggest program is for all of the Jailbreaking errors & fixes, its a program designed for the iPhone platform, currently its in beta state and I'm testing it on my friends iPhone !

I decided to buy a used one for testing it on all my projects, those other projects wont be released until I finish the most important one . I'm asking from each one of you if you can help me raise the 400 $ that I need for this iPhone, currently I raised 93 $ . What will you benefit from me ?

Jailbreak iOS 4.3.5 Guide

Apple Just released iOS 4.3.5 after a short period from the release of 4.3.4 ( Jailbreak Killer ) so what have they changed in it ?

A minor fix in a security vulnerability with certificate validation. Not a big deal for them but for the Jailbreak community is ! MuscleNerd ( iPhone Hacker ) has confirmed that 4.3.5 is Jailbreakable but its a tethered Jailbreak, meaning that if you turn off the iPhone or if it looses power you have to connect it to Redsn0w again to fire it up ! If not you will be stuck on apple logo at the begining .

Not supported ?

iPad 2 on 4.3.4 or 4.3.5
iPhone CDMA Verizon iPhone on 4.2.10 or 4.2.9

What do you need ?

Redsn0w 0.9.8B4 Windows : Windows Redsn0w 0.9.8B4
Redsn0w 0.9.8B4 MAC : Mac Redsn0w 0.9.8B4

iOS 4.3.4 Firmware :

iPhone 4 GSM 4.3.4
iPhone 3Gs 4.3.4

If you Updated to 4.3.5 you are good to go if not Update via iTunes to 4.3.5 .

Warning :

Be aware that updating with iTunes will erase everything on your iPhone so please make a backup before you do anything.

Updating via iTunes will upgrade your baseband to the new ones that are unlockable, so if you rely on an Unlock stay AWAY from these new firmwares ( 4.3.4 / 4.3.5 ) .

Steps :

Open Redsn0w & hit browse then select the 4.3.4 firmware ( Not 4.3.5 )
Now select Install Cydia & choose install battery percentage if you want
Follow the instructions on the screen to put the iPhone in DFU Mode , now if you don't want to do it with the program you can ut it in DFU Mode before opening Redsn0w ( Its your choice )
Let Redsn0w do its Jailbreaking . Thats it .

If Cydia fails to stat :

Open Redsn0w
Browse for 4.3.4 firmware
Deselect everything & Just select ( Boot Tethered Right Now )
Follow Redsn0w instructions & let it do the Jailbreaking process again . Thats it ! You are good to go.

How to start the iPhone if the battery drains or if you restart it ?
Use the same steps in ( If Cydia fails to start )

Fix Installous API and IPA ERROR

Do you find yourself having API and IPA ERROR'S on Installous, the fix is simple .

You must have three things installed on your iPhone/iPod/iPad :

Hackulo Repository
Installous Program
Appsync ( Choose the one for your current iOS firmware )

For New Users who don't know how to install them :

Open Cydia & Go to Manage
Open Sources and on the top right corner tap edit and add , then Add Hackulos Repository ( http://cydia.hackulo.us ) and hit save .
Go back to sources and scroll to Hackulo Repo that you added and search for Installous, install it .
After you finish the Installous program go back to the same Repo and search for AppSync and install that program according to what iOS firmware you have , like if I have iOS 4.3.3 I will choose ( AppSync for iOS 4.x ) then restart you device after re-springing .
That's it , now you have Installous and you can download whatever you want ( I recommend buying the original app and support the Developer so we could have more great programs and support from them )

For Users who has Installous and have API error's :

You have to reinstall AppSync again and give your device a restart ( Do step 4 from above ) .

Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 Using Greenp0ison ( Guide )

How to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 using Greenp0ison ? Well its the easiest way to Jailbreak, other Jailbreak methods can be done with a custom IPSW ( Firmware ) but that requires another post ( Links at the end of post ) . To be qualified you need to have iOS 4.2.1 installed on your device or it will not work ! For Unlockers be careful on how you Upgrade your firmware using iTunes ( Why ? ) Because iTunes Upgrades the Baseband & you will be stuck with a locked iPhone .
Read the instructions carefully then apply the Jailbreak . Good Luck to everyone .

If your device is jailbroken with iPhone Dev Team's Monte, please restore the device using iTunes first.
If Cydia doesn't show up after Loader, you may need to reboot the device
This version of greenpois0n doesn't include a patched activation system. You'll need to activate your device using iTunes
WE DO NOT SUPPORT PIRACY ! ( Meaning that Greenp0ison will not Hacktivate your Device, you have to use the normal Activation method, or if you want to Hacktivate you need to use Sn0wbreeze to build a custom Firmware that is Hacktivated )

Instructions :

Plug the device to your computer using the USB cable.
Quit iTunes if it shows up.
Start greenpois0n.app.
Follow instructions.
The device will boot a 1st time with verbose text on screen ( Hacker style like Hollywood ). This operation will install the jailbreak on the device.
The device will reboot normally .
Start the Loader application (green icon on the SpringBoard), and follow instructions to install Cydia.

Repo (Ripository) Definition :

Generically refers to a central place where data is stored and maintained. A repository can be a place where multiple databases or files are located for distribution over a network, or a repository can be a location that is directly accessible to the user without having to travel across a network.

How to add in Cydia :

Open Cydia .
Go to Manage .
Go to Sources .
In the top right corner press edit .
In the top left corner press Add .
Insert one of the repos then add source, cydia will add the source and then will refresh .

Jailbreak with a Custom Firmware ( IPSW ) Full Guide !

If you don't know how to Jailbreak using a Custom Firmware ( IPSW ) this is the right place to start , so what is a custom IPSW :

Its a modified Original iOS firmware that has injected in it Cydia and other Jailbreaking codes .
The programs that handle or build those firmwares are :

Sn0wbreeze ( Windows Users )
Pwnagetool ( Mac Users )

You can use the custom IPSW on All iPhone Generations + iPod Touch + iPad + iTV !
In this tutorial we will use Snowbreeze because I don't use a MAC . Before we start keep in mind that Sn0wbreeze has different software versions for every iOS firmware , what this means is that the latest Sn0wbreeze Version is not compatible with the previous ones , down is a list for every version & what iOS firmware it supports :

sn0wbreeze 2.7 [ For 4.2.8/4.3.3 ]

sn0wbreeze 2.6.1 [ For 4.2.7/4.3.2 ]

sn0wbreeze 2.5.1 [ For 4.3.1 ]

sn0wbreeze 2.2.1 [ For 4.2.1 ]

sn0wbreeze 2.1 [ For 3.2.2/4.1 ]

sn0wbreeze 2.0.2 [ For 3.1.x to 4.0 ]

So lets start by Creating a New Folder on the Desktop, rename them as the picture then download the followings onto the JB needed files :

Sn0wbreeze ( The version you want to )
iReb
iFaith
Original iOS Firmware ( IPSW ) that you want to install on your iDevice
TinyUmbrella ( If you get 3194 error or similar )

What does iFaith + iReb + TinyUmbrella ?

iFaith : Dumps SHSH blobs for present iOS revision on iDevice and creates a pre-signed IPSW.
iReb : Put your device into a jailbreakable state.
TinyUmbrella : It does two things:

Requests SHSH signatures for firmware restores .
Plays back those signatures enabling iTunes to continue the restore .

So what are the Steps :

We will save the SHSH Blobs .
Setting the iDevice in a Jail-breakable mode .
We will Create a Custom IPSW .
We will Install the Custom IPSW to the iDevice .
Learning to Bypass any iTunes error .

We will proceed with saving your SHSH Blobs , this step is required for a simple reason, in the future if you want to downgrade to a previous iOS version you will be able because you saved your SHSH Blobs ! Got IT!

Saving the SHSH Blobs :
Watch the Video .

Setting the iDevice in a Jailbreakable mode :

Putting the iDevice in a clean Jailbreak-able state , for this purpose we will use iReb :

Connect the iDevice to the Cable
Open iReb then select your device
Follow the on screen instructions, let iReb do the cleaning .

Now your iDevice is in DFU MODE & good to be Jailbroken.

Create a Custom IPSW :

If you have done the above steps correct then you will have the iDevice in DFU MODE & ready to be Jailbroken so we shall begin :

Now Copy Sn0wbreeze + Original IPSW to the ( Jailbreak ) Folder
Extract Sn0wbreeze in the same Folder ( Don't run it from the ZIP file )

The Steps for creating a Custom IPSW with Sn0wbreeze :

Close any Anti-Virus thats running
Open Sn0wbreeze as administrator ( Right click & Open as Administrator )
Click the blue arrow ( Next )
Drag the Original IPSW to the Box where it says ( Drag an IPSW into me )
Wait for Sn0wbreeze to recognize the IPSW
Now click the ( Next )
Here you have to choose what mode do you want to use
Select Expert Mode & hit ( Next )
The Next menu are the Options
Select General then ( Next )
Choose what Options you want to be enabled then click ( Next )
( For those who want to bypass apple activation choose ( Activate the iPhone [Hacktivate] )
Click ( Next )
Now from the menu choose BUILD IPSW then ( Next )
Wait for Sn0wbreeze to build it , the finished Custom IPSW is on your Desktop .

Install the Custom IPSW to the iDevice :

You have created a custom firmware, to install it follow these steps :

If you still have the iPhone in DFU Mode & connected to the PC its OK, If not put it in DFU .
With the iPhone in DFU open iTunes .
A pop-up message will appear telling you that iTunes found an iPhone/iDevice in recovery Mode , close the message .
You will see a restore button ( DON'T CLICK IT )
On your keyboard hold the ( LEFT SHIFT ) then click the Restore Button !
Another pop-up window will appeare, point it to the Custom IPSW that you created .
Now sit back & let iTunes restor your iDevice .

Learning to Bypass any iTunes error :

Error 1015 :
The problem, according to the Apple support forum, comes when you try to downgrade your iPhone.

This error is common when downgrading iPhones and 3G-enabled iPads. The problem occurs when the device's baseband has a higher version number than the baseband in the firmware you restored to. Just set auto-boot true in iRecovery or use iREB/TinyUmbrella/RecBoot.

Error 3194 :
Occurs when trying to install an old firmware and Apple's server disallows the installation. The only solution is to have SHSH backup and modify the hosts file to point to Saurik's Cydia Server where they are backed up (or localhost if you have it yourself).

Error 1013 :
This means that the baseband did not get updated. Either remove the gs.apple.com entry from your hosts file and let the baseband upgrade or if you want to preserve the baseband just jailbreak at this point to boot it up.

Other Devices

Restart computer; change computer; reinstall system, if iPhone is always in restoring mode: XP users can jump from restoring mode with ibus; MAC users can use iNdependence. (usually on the iPhone with 1.0.2 firmware downgraded from 1.1.1)

Error 1014 :
This occurs when you try to downgrade your phone's baseband.

Error 1394
When Spirit2Pwn flashes parts of the boot chain on iOS 4, the device may crash into DFU Mode.Source

The IMEI is a useful tool to prevent a stolen handset from accessing a network and being used to place calls. Mobile phone owners who have their phones stolen can contact their mobile network provider and ask them disable a phone using its IMEI number. With an IMEI number, the phone can be blocked from the network quickly and easily.

Here I am making a tutorial for the beginners and the lost souls of the iPhone Jailbreak community, first thought that came on my mind is from where should I begin , I decided to make it easy and begin from the first day you purchase an iPhone
, those are your thoughts :

OMG I have an iPhone.
You will call your MOM and your Friends telling them that you bought a new iPhone.
After the first 2 Weeks you get board of the standard features and the lack of new features !

So what are the first things that you will get board of?

The UI and the Icon’ish OS .
The poor notification system that pops up when you don't want it to! (Changed in iOS 5)
The Apple store and their 1 $ policy on the programs and games. (Drains Lots of $ from you)

Well those things made me board! So let’s stop the bluffing and start Jailbreakin, before you do anything you need to know some Jailbreaking standards and definitions.

Here are some Definitions:

Jailbreaking:
Users commonly jailbreak their iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads to get around the limitations imposed by the wireless carriers (e.g., AT&T) and manufacturer (e.g., Apple). A jailbroken device will allow you to run third party programs and other code, and to do things like tether your phone or use it as a Wi-Fi hotspot for Internet access on your laptop or other devices. For Android devices, jailbreaking is commonly referred to as rooting.

Unlock:
Unlocking a phone means to release the restrictions that are put on it by manufacturers. This is primarily done for the purpose of allowing the phone to be used with other carriers.
By other words , If you bought the iPhone from AT&T then you will not be able to use Verizon SIM on it, Unlocking lets you use any Carrier SIM card with that restricted iPhone .

Tethered Jailbreak:
A tethered jailbreak requires that the device be connected to a computer each time it needs to be booted into a jailbroken state. An untethered jailbreak allows the device to be powered off, powered up, and rebooted without having to use the assistance of a Mac or PC. A tethered jailbreak is a process that takes place on a computer, effectively re-jailbreaking an iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone or Apple TV 2 without losing data or restoring via iTunes.

DFU Mode:

DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode is a means to getting your iPhone to interface with iTunes without iTunes automatically loading the latest version of iOS onto it (it skips the iBoot bootloader, for jailbreak aficionados).

Recovery Mode:
iTunes restores your iPhone to its original factory settings but with the latest iOS and firmware -- DFU mode allows you to change and choose the firmware you want to install onto your iPhone.

SHSH Blobs:
An SHSH Blob (for Signature HaSH) is a 128-byte RSA signature used to verify the validity of firmware on newer (iPhone 3G/3GS/4, iPad or iPod touch second generation onward) Apple iOS devices.

SHSH Blobs are used in a challenge-response authentication of the firmware, where the challenge key comes in a combination of a hash of the firmware and the Exclusive Chip ID (ECID) of the device. The response from Apple is the SHSH itself, the digital signature required to validate the firmware.

Significance of SHSH on Downgrading and Jailbreaking - Because the challenge key is static, a cached copy of the signature may be used in a replay attack to trick the signing software (iTunes) into validating an old firmware. Using this technique is necessary to restore to previous versions of the iOS on the iPhone 3G/3GS/4, iPad or iPod touch second generation onward. Downgrading the iOS in such a manner may be used for iOS jailbreaking, since older software may have known exploits.

In other words, you can't downgrade to a previous iOS Firmware if you did not save the SHSH files for that firmware!

Custom IPSW:
A custom IPSW ( iOS Firmware ) is a modified iOS firmware that injects the jailbreack exploit in that firmware & you can modify it to also include some Cydia repos and programs . Those Custom IPSW can be made with Sn0wbreeze & Pwnagetool only.

Baseband (BB):
In telecommunications and signal processing, baseband is an adjective that describes signals and systems whose range of frequencies is measured from close to 0 hertz to a cut-off frequency, a maximum bandwidth or highest signal frequency; it is sometimes used as a noun for a band of frequencies starting close to zero. Baseband can often be considered as a synonym to lowpass or non-modulated, and antonym to passband, bandpass, carrier-modulated or radio frequency (RF) signal.
In other words, it’s the chip that transmits and receives the cellular signal to your device!
