Instagram will start the rollout for a big new update to its mobile apps today with a new feature called “Stories” today. Taking a lot of cues from Snapchat, Stories is a way to post content on a secondary feed that will disappear automatically after a day.

The Facebook-owned Instagram has nearly 300 million daily users and is the biggest photo-sharing social network in the world right now. Today, they are introducing a big new update, adding a whole new element to the social network. “Instagram Stories” is a way to share all the moments of your day without having to keep them on your profile forever. They will disappear after 24 hours.

“With Instagram Stories, you don’t have to worry about overposting,” reads the blog post. “Instead, you can share as much as you want throughout the day — with as much creativity as you want.”

In simple words, Instagram just completely ripped off Snapchat’s biggest and most-used feature— also known as Stories. They didn’t even bother to change the name. What’s more is that they have even introduced text and drawing tools to make your stories “come to life”, another signature Snapchat feature.

Instagram Stories will now be visible at the top of your home feed in the form of small circled-profile pictures. The top ones will be the people you interact with the most. If there is something new to see, the profile photo will have a colorful ring around it. Using Instagram Stories is pretty simple (especially if you’ve used Snapchat); tap on any pic to see the person’s story, swipe to switch to the next person’s story and, if you want to comment, tap and send a private message to that person on Instagram Direct.

Just a couple of months ago, Instagram unveiled its biggest update ever! Not only did they completely revamp the app layout, but they also introduced a new purplish-pink icon and changed the order in which posts were displayed. They received a lot of flak for it so it is a really bold move to go ahead and copy another apps’ feature right after that.

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Note 7 at a dedicated event

The wait is over. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7, arguably the most powerful smartphone to date is finally here. Samsung has unveiled its latest iteration of the Galaxy Note series, by skipping out the Note 6 of course.

Let’s move on directly to the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. First of all, the Note 7 features a Super AMOLED QHD display with a 5.7″ curved display. Unlike it’s popular Edge model of the Galaxy S series, Samsung has added a slight curve to both sides of the screen on the Note 7. The phablet is one of the first handheld devices to have HDR support (the screen is capable of showing more colors with high contrast). If you are the owner of a 4K resolution LED, you will know what HDR looks like on a screen.

The Galaxy Note 7 will be featuring a Exynos 8890 chipset (the global model) with an octa-core (quad-core 2.3 GHz + quad-core 1.6 GHz) processor. The phablet will be featuring 4 GB of RAM with the base model being 64 GB (there was no announcement about a 128 GB model though, which is surprising). Unlike the Note 5, the latest Galaxy Note 7 will also feature a microSD slot, but sadly no ultra-quick Universal Flash Storage cards, as rumored.

Moving on to the camera, the Galaxy Note 7 will feature the same dual-pixel camera from the Galaxy S7. The 12 MP back shooter is one of the most capable cameras in the smartphone arena today. On the front, the 5 MP selfie camera is also the same as the Galaxy S7.

Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is also Samsung’s first device to feature a USB Type-C port for quicker connectivity. Of course, that means you will have to think of a work around for the USB C cables. The phablet will also feature wireless quick charging too, with a battery capacity of 3,500 mAh.

Fingerprint sensors are a routine for high-end smartphone these days. The Galaxy Note 7 takes a step further for security by adding an iris scanner! Yes, now you will be able to log in to your Note via the iris scanner.

For protection, the Galaxy Note 7 will feature the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5 that is claimed to be shatterproof and scratch-proof by the manufacturer. The Galaxy Note 7 is also the first Note to be IP68 certified which makes it dust-proof and waterproof.

Every year, Samsung also adds those little upgrades to the S Pen as well. Sometimes, it’s a change in design, sometimes in functionality. With the new S Pen, you can add notes to the Always On display on the Note 7. You can also magnify text and create GIFs with the S Pen. In terms of hardware, the S Pen is also waterproof! This makes sense because the S Pen is a integral part of the Note 7’s body.

On a side note, the Galaxy Note 7 is also one of the first devices to be confirmed to have the Android 7.0 Nougat update (but obviously, the Note 5 and S7 are likely to get the update too).

Finally, Samsung also announced a new Gear VR that has a bigger lens and frame to fit the Galaxy Note 7. According to the leading tech giant, the new Gear headset will provide a more immersive experience for users.

Samsung’s latest premium flagship, the Galaxy Note 7 goes on pre-order tomorrow. It is also expected to be available in stores worldwide on August 19. The phablet will be available in three colors: Onyx Black, Titanium Silver, and Coral Blue. There is no word on the retail price of the Note 7 right now though.

PTCL launched its multiple times delayed, long awaited IPTV project with the brand name ‘PTCL SMART TV’, around 2 years ago. PTCL’s IPTV is largely considered as milestone in achieving the next generation technology for broadcasting TV channels over IP i.e. Internet Protocol on high streams.

In the start, PTCL offered IPTV services on fibre, off course due to bandwidth fluctuations on the copper and later on it is also been offered on copper as well.

It was the perfect phone for my need.My best friend was also buying a new phone, so i gave him a suggestion to buy lenovo 7000. We bought the phone from lenovo's official outlet.

After opening and using my phone i liked it a lot. It was really a great fun to use this phone.IT'S EXTRA SLIMNESS was worth my money.It worked amazing but after 3 months it started lagging .
Its battery life became poor. Its screen display didn't looked the same infact they just looked like dim lights. I thought that only my phone is working perfect or my brain is playing tricks on me but when i asked my friend he also told me the same problems i was facing At last we both decided to reset the phone .One month after reset the same problem occurred in both phone.

One day my friend told me that his phone ran out of battery after charging it ,it didn't opened. The same day i noticed that my microphone stopped working. The next day we went to warranty center .
No One helped us there , after waiting a long time my number came and i told them my problem than they kept the phone for several days the same situation was with my friend. Alas , After a month we received an SMS alert that our phone are repaired .We ran to the warranty center and claimed our phones.

The phones were returned to us . After a month my phone was not opening , again i claimed the warranty after a month i received it . Again it was working fine but still lagging , i deleted all the apps and pictures ,but still i am unable to find solution. My friends phone now again have battery problem . Battery is draining very fast but LENOVO WARRANTY CENTER is not accepting his warranty.

How I surprised my friend on her birthday part

A birthday party is the one day a year, which is very special and unique to everyone in their life. It is a day that should be celebrated with lots of joys and some surprises. Basically, I thought I was a perfect person in my best friend Monika’s life. Since, we guys were having our last exam of math on 30th July and on the same day she turning sweet 16. She was really nervous about her exam. However, just to cheer her up, I plan to give her a surprise birthday part. In order to do so, I talked with my friends to give her a surprise birthday at one of her favorite place, Bell’s Restaurant.

Though, in order to make a party more enjoyable or pleasurable, we decorated the party hall with lights and candles to look the party hall more charming. This party was a tailored for my friend, Monika, by serving her favorite delicious foods and by providing her drink. I and some of my friends helped to make it more entertaining by having music and dance floor in the party hall, so that every person presented in the party can enjoy some dance as well.
Moreover, we also gave her a great surprise by inviting her parents and some of her close family friends as well in party. They all brought gifts for her and enjoyed a lot at the party. To make it really special for my friend, me and some of my friends also made frames of her childhood memories and she was really happy after having all those memories together in just one frame. At last, we bought one of her favorite chocolate ice-cream cake, which she loved a lot, at the party. So, we had a very good cake ceremony right before the dinner and then we all together rocked the dance floor on her favorite songs. We also captured all of the fabulous memories in one picture album, which I still have with me and when we talk on the phone, we always discuss about that prestigious moment.

By concluding this, that was an unforgettable moment in everyone’s life whoever was presented in the party.

What are Ebooks : Electronic Books?

The official definition of an ebook is:

“ebook. noun a book composed in or converted to digital format for display on a computer screen or handheld device” – Merriam-Webster.com

“e-book. noun a book that is published in electronic form, for example on the Internet or on a disk, and not printed on paper” – Cambridge.org

At least two well-known spellings ebook and e-book and countless other versions (eBook, Ebook) exist but the term ebook now is often used when referring to the methodology of reading just about any mid-to-long-length electronic document that is viewable on a screen, including research papers, short stories and even magazines.

For the purposes of this guide we’re going to talk about ebooks in their pure version: the electronic equivalent of any book or novel formatted for on-screen reading.

Why aren’t ebooks more Popular? Tactile loss And the eBabel Problem

Why aren’t ebooks more popular? The arguments seem to fall into three categories:

Tactile loss : I like the feel and smell of paper / I can’t read on a screen
Lending loss : I want to lend my books to who I want
Library loss : I want a library that will last forever

While the first two are considerable arguments, the tactile loss argument is probably the most obvious and passionate argument longtime readers have, but the least serious technologically. I also feel that it’s getting outweighed by the convenience factor and the fact that we are reading more and more material everyday on a screen.

We all remember the discussions when mp3s started becoming popular and people insisted “they’ll want the album notes – they’ll want the physical CD.” Then Apple came along and introduced the iTunes Store and multiple copycats followed so buying electronic music was even easier and became mass-market through support of major record labels.

The one big difference between the music and ebook markets is there is no “mp3” of ebooks – there is no universal ebook file format, what is often referred to as the “eBabel” problem, much like the Tower of Babel. So unlike when you bought .m4p files from Apple (their proprietary format), you could also load in mp3 files from other sources and create mp3s from your own CDs. Devices just had to read .mp3 and perhaps an additional proprietary format. With ebooks we’re still playing a format-device game and there will be no way to load in electronic versions of paper books you already own.

Lending loss is a problem that I feel less as I didn’t and don’t often exchange books with friends. In fact, I often re-read books I like so I appreciate keeping them in my library. But for other people, the fact that they can’t lend paper books to other friends, re-sell or even buy used books is a disadvantage. In some cases ebooks can be authorized for more than one device, so perhaps you and your best friend can still share books, but for now ebook sellers are determined to keep you from sharing your ebooks.

We’re in an exciting and ugly time for ebooks. There are so many formats, and each one is determined to succeed. Remember the VHS and Beta fight in the 1980s? Only one survived. This time, there are more than two major players so not only must the author and publisher decide which format(s) to publish in, and they rarely choose all formats available, now you as a consumer are forced to make a decision about where to get your content and which format to buy it in.

And what if you’re wrong? You could lose your library.

Underlying all of this is the major problem of DRM – Digital Rights Management, which I’ll talk more about when examining the ebook formats available. That’s a risk everyone is taking now buying formats that are tied to specific devices, or even a particular format in general. Almost all major books are being released with some DRM attached to them. Some format providers are seeing the benefit of being separate from a device, and are offering cross-compatibility on several devices.

Ebooks are Great! Here’s Why : Advantages of ebooks

So are there any advantages to ebooks? As I mentioned in my editorial announcement about this ebook guide, I love ebooks for several reasons: mobility, saving space, convenience, saving money and time, and ease-of-use. Here’s why:

Mobility

Carry your entire library in your pocket: With disk space quickly becoming a commodity, and the size of portable device hard drives getting bigger and bigger, it’s conceivable to think that you could have your entire library with you and have it accessible to your fingertips.
Backup a copy of your library with an online backup service: Backing up your entire library online or locally won’t require much space and it’s something that would be impossible with a physical library, and no more worries about fire-proofing your books.

Add Notes, Bookmarks or Highlight: Instead of earmarking pages or marking up your paper copy, electronic copies allow you to add and delete bookmarks and notes at will and as many as you see fit.
Searchable and Linkable Text: The text is searchable and can be hyperlinked, you can jump back-and-forth between chapters or the glossary.

1. Embed Posts Anywhere

For years, you can embed content on your website, like a YouTube video or a tweet via the use of a feature called oEmbed. Well, the good news is WordPress has adopted this feature in 4.4 and you can now easily embed content anywhere on your site just by grabbing the URL of a post and pasting it into the content editor. 5. Custom Term Taxonomy Meta

In previous versions of WordPress we can add custom field to the post and pagesthrough the term meta. Now WordPress has added this feature to taxonomy objects.

For example on the Category taxonomy we might want to add a custom field, namely category image to feature the post’s featured image on each category. In this version we can do this by making use of the following functions:add_term_meta(), update_term_meta(), delete_term_meta(), andget_term_meta().

6. Single Post Template File

In this version, WordPress included a new template file on theme hierarchy to be used as a single post or custom post type. This feature is useful when you are targeting a specific post, to give ‘special’ styles to that page so it will look different from other pages. You will have a template file with a name like below:

single-{post_type}-{post_name}.php

For example, here I have a custom post type named book that I want to spruce up for a "bestseller book" post. So I creat single-book-bestseller.php then tweak the style to be applied to this page only. Lastly, I change the post slug toyoursite.com/book/bestseller to apply the special page.

7. Improved Comments

WordPress has made rearrangements on the comment form, where the comment field is displayed first, then the name and email fields below. This improvement was the answer to the issue that the comment behaviour is different for logged in and logged out user.

On the backend, the comment now is represented by the WP_Comment object. This enables you to output comments in a more object-oriented (OOP) way with more powerful comment queries.

Since it was founded in 2003, Skype has become a regular form of communication for most people out there. Millions of people use Skype for holding conversations via text messaging, voice calls and video calls at no cost at all. You can even call mobile phones and landline numbers with just a small little fee.

Despite the recent advent of Google Hangouts, Skype is still popular among people for voice and video calling. To make your Skype journey more of a breeze, we’ve put together 10 interesting tips and tricks related to Skype. Who knows maybe you’ll discover more of your own?

1. Transfer Your Skype Account Contacts

You can easily backup all of the contacts in one Skype account to be transferred into another. To do so, head to the main Skype window, click on “Contacts”, click on “Advanced” and finally click on “Backup Contacts to File”. It will generate a .vcf file which you can save on your computer system.

Now sign into the second Skype account where you want to upload all these contacts into. Once you are signed in, click on “Contacts”, click on “Advanced” and finally click on “Restore Contacts from File” which is exactly located below “Backup Contacts to File”.

2. Re-edit Your Last Message

Suppose you have sent a message which contains a mistake and you want to edit that message and resend it again? You can do this simply by pressing the Up Arrow Key on your keyboard. The last message that you’ve sent earlier will appear. Just make the changes you want and resend the edited message.

3. Make Calls Directly From Your Contact List

You can make calls to Skype contacts immediately by double clicking on them directly from Skype Contact List. To do so, head to the main Skype window, click on “Tools” followed by “Options”. Then, go to “General Settings” and tick the check box “When I double-click on a contact start a call”.

However, this will restrict you from opening the IM Window directly by double clicking on a contact.

4. Hide the Moving Pencil

When you are chatting on Skype with someone, you can see a moving pencil when the other person is typing or deleting something. Of course, this function also works both ways. If you rather not have them be privy to whether you are typing (or not), you can actually turn this option off.

To hide the typing indicator, head to the main Skype window, click on “Tools”, then “Options”. Go to “IM & SMS” and click on “IM Settings” followed by “Show Advanced Options”. Finally, tick the check box “Show when I am typing”.

5. Clear Your Chat History & Define The Time Frame For Storing It

You can clear all of your chat history on Skype and you can also define the time frame for storing the chat history. To clear your chat history, head to the main Skype window, click on “Tools” followed by “Options” then “IM & SMS”. From there, proceed to “IM Settings”and then “Show Advanced Options” before finally clicking on the “Clear History” button. It is also in “Show Advanced Options” that you can select the time frame for storing your history from the drop down menu.

Be careful, once you click on “Clear History” then you will lose all your chat messages that have already taken place in previous conversations with the contacts in your Skype account.

6. Get Keyword Notifications

You can also choose to get notifications only when particular words are mentioned by the other person in a personal IM window. To set up the keyword notifications, start by opening up the personal IM window of a contact you want to set up keyword notification for. Click on the “Conversation” menu then “Notification Settings” and finally click on the radio button “Notify me only if these words are mentioned”.

Write down all the words that you want to be notified of in the text box provided. However, these settings will disable the notifications for all other messages apart from specified keywords, so there is a chance that you may miss out on an important message.

7. 25+ Hidden Emoticons & Smileys

There’s actually a collection of emoticons and smileys that are not visible in the emoticons set for Skype but you can still use them if you know their shortcodes. The keywords (left to right) are written for generating smileys (left to right). Each keyword is encapsulated within a () as well.

8. Pause Animated Emoticons

If you don’t like the animated emoticons and just want to pause them so any animated emoticon in your IM window will appear as a still emoticon without any movement. To pause the animated emoticons, head to the main Skype window, click on “Tools”, click on “Options”, click on “IM & SMS”, select “IM appearance” and finally uncheck the “Show animated emoticons” checkbox.

9. Enable Keyboard Shortcuts (Hotkeys)

You can enable hotkeys to use keyboard shortcuts for frequently used functions. There are default keyboard shortcuts for a few functions, which you can change as per your preference.

To enable keyboard shortcuts, head to the main Skype window, click on “Tools”, click on “Options”, click on “Advanced”, select “Hotkeys” and finally click on the “Enable keyboard shortcuts” checkbox.

10. Set Up Your Caller ID

If you make Skype calls to either landlines or mobile numbers then you might want others to see your original number whenever you call them rather than an unknown number that will most likely appear.

To set up your Caller ID, go to the main window of Skype, click on the “Skype” menu and finally click on the “Account” button. It will open up a webpage in your default web browser where you’ll get more information related to calls. Click on the “Caller ID” button and on next page select “Country/Region” and “Phone number”. Now all you need to do is click on “Verify Number” and you’re set.

o you notice that your Android device has a "developer options" feature hidden somewhere? There are many things you can do on your Android but there’s more you can do when you have this option enabled. From speeding up your device by turning animations off, to obtaining higher quality rendering for a good gameplay, there are plenty of features you can enable from the Android Developer Options section.

Note that this is not for everyone – some of you may not want to change anything in fear of "messing up" your mobile device. Not to worry, just backtrack and change the setting back. For some phones, you can enable developer options by going to Settings > About, then tapping repeatedly on Build Number until Developer Options is enabled.

1. Enable and Disabling USB Debugging

You probably already noticed that most Android-related tools on your PC will require you to enable USB Debugging for the tool to run properly. That because without it enabled, the tools cannot establish a connection between your device and your desktop. To enable USB Debugging:

Go to Settings > Developer Options.
Tick on the USB Debugging checkbox.
Select OK when you’re prompted with a message saying "Allow USB Debugging?".

2. Create Desktop Backup Password

Before you create a backup using Android tools on your desktop, you can first create a password for your backup in the developer options. To put protection on your backup from being accessed easily:

Head to Settings > Developer Options.
Tap on Desktop backup password.
Fill in the current password, then type and retype the new password for full backup.

3. Tweak Animation Settings

When you transition from screen to screen on your Android device you will notice that there is animation added in between. You can choose to speed up this animation or turn it off entirely. The lower the number you choose, the faster the animation will be.

Go to Settings > Developer Options.
Scroll down and look for Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale.
Adjust the scale for the animation you want. The greater the number, the slower the animation (and the longer you have to wait).

4. Enable MSAA For OpenGL Games

If you like to play games on your Android device and you’re playing it using high-end Android devices, you might want to force enable MSAA to obtain a higher quality rendering of your in game graphics. This feature is turned off in some games by default because it can drain your device’s battery rather quickly. To enable FXAA:

Head to Settings > Developer Options.
Tap on Force 4x MSAA to enable it.

5. Allow Mock Location

To be able to fake your current GPS location, you need an app. But to use that app, you will need to first allow Mock Location for the app to work. Enable Mock Location in two steps.

Go to Settings > Developer Options.
Look for Allow Mock Location and tick on it to enable.

6. Stay Awake While Charging

When you charge your phone, the screen of the device will automatically turn off. If for some reason you want it to stay awake, you can do that with these two steps:

Go to Settings > Developer Options.
Tap on Stay Awake to tick it, thus enabling the feature.

7. Display CPU Usage Overlay

Need to keep an eye on the CPU usage of your device? There is a way to get an overlay to show the processes that are currently being use by your CPU. To display CPU usage, follow the tips below. (Note that this shouldn’t be turned on all the time – as the number of processes increase, it minimises the space you can see in your screen).

Head to Settings > Developer Options.
Tick on Show CPU Usage to enable it.
You will see an overlay of your current CPU Usage on the right side of the screen.

8. Don’t Keep App Activities

Your Android app activities are still intact even after you have exited from your app. Most of your apps relies on local cached data on Android so that they can load faster and will not face any forced close moments. However, there may be apps that use a lot of activities. You can choose to not keep these activities with these steps:

Head to Settings > Developer Options.
Tick on Don’t keep activities.
You can switch back anytime by unticking the disable.

9. Switch Dalvik To ART

Art is a new experimental runtime by Google that is supposed to replace Dalvik in the near future as it is faster. If you want to test run ART on your device, you will need an Android device running at least Kit Kat 4.4 and above. To set this up:

Head to Settings > Developer options.
Tap on Select runtime and choose Use ART.
Note that ART is still experimental and not many apps support it, hence it may turn your device slower. If you experience this, switch back to Dalvik.

10. Enable Wireless Display Certifications

This option is only useful if you own a Miracast-ready display (or something else of a similar technology), to transmit your Android content to your TV. To watch Youtube videos on your Miracast-ready display, you will need to enable Wireless Display Certifications. To do that, follow the steps below.

Go to Settings > Developer options.
Then look for Wireless display certification and tick it.

Optimize Your Home Screen

To add a widget, hold your finger on any open space, and then select 'Widgets' from the pop-up menu.

1. Make the most of your space by using widgets--dynamic programs that operate right on your home screen. Simply hold your finger on any open space, and then select Widgets from the pop-up menu. Widgets come in a huge variety of sizes and functions, so search the Android Market to find what works for you.

2. Prefer not to be bothered by a sound every time an e-mail arrives? Head into Gmail's Settings menu and set its ringtone toSilent. You'll still see new-message alerts in the notification panel at the top of your screen, and you can always pull the panel down to get detailed information. You can configure text messaging and other alert-generating apps the same way.

3. Set up one-touch dialing for the people you call the most. Hold your finger on an open space and select Shortcuts. Then, touchDirect dial and pick the person from your contact list. If one-touch texting is what you crave, use the Direct message option instead.

4. To drop your favorite Web pages onto your home screen, long-press on any site in your browser's bookmarks and then select the Add shortcut to home option.

5. Try using folders to keep your home screen organized. Long-press on a blank space and select Folders to create one. You can then drag and drop frequently used contacts, apps, or other shortcuts into it to cut down on clutter. To rename a folder, press and hold the folder's title bar while it's open.

Astro allows you to browse through your phone as you would a computer.

6. Make file management a snap with a utility such as Astro, which allows you to browse through your phone just as you would a computer, navigating directories and moving or deleting files at will.

7. Need to cut and paste text? Long-press on any text input area. If you're on a Web page, tap the Menu key and use the Select textoption.

9. You can set your own hotkeys to open apps, too. Head into the main Settings menu, select Applications, and then choose Quick Launch to get started.
