Their project, “Hungry Planet,” depicts everything that an average family consumes in a given week–and what it costs — laid out in thought-provoking detail. Their results will be exhibited by The Nobel Peace Center to give viewers a peek into kitchens from Norway to Kuwait, and to raise awareness about how environments and cultures influence the cost and calories of the world’s dinners.

Steampunk Cafe in South Africa

These copper pipes, gears and steel railings are not from the interior of an ironclad battleship or WWI factory – they‘re part of the brilliant interior steampunk design of Truth Coffee‘s cafe in Cape Town, South Africa.

The idea works in part because the coffee equipment used by Truth Coffee, with its various pipes and levers, already lends itself to a steampunk aesthetic. The cafe features authentic elements and accents like old bookcases, candlestick telephones, vintage typewriters, gas-masks and other gizmos and gadgets. Even the staff pictured wear popular steampunk elements like leather aprons, top-hats and goggles.

The interior design was dreamed up together with interior designer Haldane Martin, who was approached by Truth Coffee to design a cafe in keeping with their re-branding efforts.

Mother of All Swiss Army Knives

A multi-tool gadget kept at the Smithsonian Institute holds almost every household object one can imagine, and can be called the mother of all Swiss Army knives. The gadget includes scissors, a corkscrew, a cigar cutter, pens, a mirror, a straight razor, a cheese fork and a butter knife, in addition to a .22 caliber revolver, unlike any other similar knife, the Daily Star reported.

The knife, which was made in Germany in 1880, predates the Swiss Army knife by 11 years and holds a number of other sharp instruments that could have been meant to be used for hunting. The knife was originally designed for JS Holler and Co's cutlery store in New York City and was not meant to be a carried on a person. It now sits on display at the Buffalo Bill Centre of the West in Wyoming, US.

Incredible Sand Sculpture by Susanne Ruseler

Susanne started sand sculpting in 2003, when she was still studying biology. She discovered that she loves creating sculptures and also became involved in snow and ice sculpting.

World's Largest Water Wheel

The Great Laxey Wheel is the largest surviving working wheel of its kind in the world. Designed by the Victorian engineer, Robert Casement, the wheel was built in 1854 to pump water from Glen Mooar part of the ‘Great Laxey Mines’ industrial complex.

The impressive 22m (72.5 feet) diameter structure found immediate popularity and has remained one of the Island’s most dramatic tourist attractions for over 150 years. A climb to the top of the wheel is rewarded with breathtaking views across the valley, while the mines trail displays the remains of a once thriving mining complex and offers a pleasant walk through the Glen Mooar, together with the opportunity to enter a section of the mine.

Cursed Island of Gaiola

Gaiola Island is one of the minor islands of Naples, Italy; it is offshore of Posillipo. Naples's population has considered Gaiola a "cursed island", which with its beauty hides a "restless fate". The reputation came about because of the frequent premature death of its owners. For example, in the 1920s, it belonged to the Swiss Hans Braun, who was found dead and wrapped in a rug; a little later, his wife drowned in the sea. The next owner was the German Otto Grunback, who died of a heart attack while staying in the villa.

A similar fate befell the pharmaceutical industrialist Maurice-Yves Sandoz, who committed suicide in a mental hospital in Switzerland; its subsequent owner, a German steel industrialist, Baron Karl Paul Langheim, was dragged to economic ruin by wild living. The island has also belonged to Gianni Agnelli, who suffered the deaths of many relatives, and to Paul Getty, who endured the kidnapping of a grandson. The last private owner of the island was Gianpasquale Grappone, who was jailed. Newspapers talked again about the "Gaiola Malediction" in 2009, after the murder of Franco Ambrosio and his wife Giovanna Sacco, who owned a villa opposite the island.

Chinese Doctors Grow Nose on Man's Forehead

A new nose has been grown on a man's forehead in Fuzhou, China. The man, named Xiaolian, had neglected an injury to his nose after a traffic accident. Doctors had no choice but to grow a new nose to replace the damaged cartilage in the old.

The nose was grown by placing a skin tissue expander onto Xiaolian's forehead, cutting it into the shape of a nose and planting a cartilage taken from his ribs. Doctors say the nose is in good shape and the surgery to transplant it should take place soon according to Reuters.

Architecture student Hank Butitta had to find an idea to finalize his architecture studies, he decided to turn a bus home as the final study project. His project has been so successful that he found the support of many people around him. It took him 15 weeks to transform the standard bus into a practical and modern mobile home.

Equipped with all the necessary accommodation featuring beds, kitchen and a bathroom, the metamorphosed school bus could compete any recreational vehicle in functionality. After completing the project and the studies successfully, he decided to travel across the United States with his mobile home, stopping at many different place and traveling a long way with his family and friends.

Lea-Ann Ellison is a 35 year old mother of two children, and expecting her third. Ellison, is a CrossFit enthusiast and says that she has been doing it for over 2 years. The pictures, that have gone viral, show Ellison lifting 75-pound weights over her head while she is 8-months pregnant. It was reported that she has been known to lift nearly 190-pounds but has altered her regime to suit her pregnancy.

The caption on the photo posted on CrossFit’s Facebook profile read: “8 months pregnant with baby number 3 and CrossFit has been my sanity. I have been CrossFitting for 2 1/2 years and … strongly believe that pregnancy is not an illness, but a time to relish in your body’s capabilities to kick ass.”

Vardzia Cave Monastery in Georgia

In the south part of Georgia is located a unique monument of architecture of the Middle Ages, which is a monastic complex inside a tuff cliff along the river Kura. The monastery has more than 600 rooms.

The Vardzia monastery is located inside the Erusheti Mountain, and once it was even fitted with running water and an irrigation system. The monastic complex includes not only rooms, but also a number of temples, chapels, closets, a storage space for treasury, libraries, and other necessary facilities. Its overall height is eight floors. The monastery was built in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. In addition to its religious purposes, it was also a protective structure. It defended the valley against a possible attack of the Turks and Iranians. During the war, the Vardzia monastery was also a shelter for the royal family.

Biggest Living Cat in The World

According to the 2014 Guinness Book of World Records, Hercules is the World’s largest living cat, at 418 kg (922 pounds). Hercules is a liger, the hybrid offspring of a male lion and a tigress. He lives at the Myrtle Beach Safari wildlife preserve in South Carolina. He is 332 cm (131 inches) long, and measures 12 cm (49 inches) tall at the shoulder. Ligers, which do not exist in the wild, can grow to twice the size of their parents and weigh about a hundred times more than the average house cat.

Wooden Log Railway Bridge

Railroads often had ambitious names, and the Columbia and Nehalem was no exception. It started at Columbia City and its announced destination was Pittsburg in the Nehalem Valley. It went up the hill west of Columbia city accessing the high ground between Milton Creek and Merrill Creek.

The railroad was announced in March of 1902, and was to reach Pittsburg via Oak Ranch Creek. The founders, Giltner and Sewell sold out to Pennsular Lumber Company in 1906 at which time they had about 5 miles of trackage rising from a river front site in front of Columbia City into a 5,000 acre tract of timber west of Columbia City. By 1912 the trackage had grown to 8 miles, but it is doubtful if they got as far as Yankton.

Notable is the fact that both locomotives shown here are burning wood. This was fairly uncommon as most by then burned oil. The top photo is said to be of a 50 ton Climax. The second photo is of a wood burning Shay, but this writer is doubtful if it is the same shay or the same trackage, as the log looks more like a Redwood from California. Shays were commonly used in this region for logging because their gear reduction made them very powerful if slow. Shays were so common and so popular at the time that any geared locomotive was likely to be called a 'Shay' even it wasn't. 'Shay' was actually a brand name of type of geared locomotive. The Climax shown was likely loosely referred to as a 'Shay' based on the fact that it was geared, even though the gearing was different and Climax was manufactured by a different company.

Tommy Craggs in his Blog has said "Having learnt the use of chainsaws and tree felling, I have learnt a lot about trees and types of wood etc. I started carving, using my skills with the chainsaw, and my interest in art from my school years. I have now found the art form for which I am now practising and love the art of chainsaw carving wood sculptures. All my carvings are made from trees which have either fell naturally or need to be felled for woodland management purposes. I see the trees come back to life in my artistic struggle working against the grain, with all of the beauty of the wood showing through."
