It was Maha Shivratri, the Hindu festival of lord Shiva. People worship Lord Shiva with leaves and milk. People are pouring milk on idol of Lord Shiva and that milk is going into drainage. Complete wastage!! We negotiate ₹ 1 with vegetable shopkeepers and here we gladly waste milk in the name of worship. This is just an example of how we behave differently at different places. We blindly follow the religion taught to us. Ironically there is no clinic which can cure this.

This trigger me a question that Who is Blind?

An old age dad who couldn't see properly due to ageing or people pouring milk which goes to drainage?"

You know the answer, right? :)

Disclaimer: I am not against any religion.

A certain gentleman walked into a hotel and after perusing through the menu ordered for some food.

After about 20 mins another group of gentlemen walked in and ordered for theirs.

To his dismay, he noticed them get served first.

He watched as they began to eat and laugh heartily.

He even overheard one of them brag about how he knew everyone at that hotel and how things moved fast for him here.

He felt he was being mocked.

He contemplated leaving. But he had waited so long.

Unable to take it anymore, he called the waiter and spoke sadly of how unfair things were.

The waiter calmly told him, "Yours is a special order Sir, being prepared by the chief chef himself.

Their orders were prepared hurriedly by interns because the top chefs are busy with yours.

That's why they came first. Please have some juice as you wait".

Unknown to him the owner of the hotel { who happened to be an old long lost friend of his } had seen him coming and wanted to surprise him and had made changes to his simple meal to make it an exotic meal.

He calmed down and waited.

Shortly after his meal was served by 6 waiters and he was waited on hand and foot and being made very comfortable.

The gentlemen at the other table were shocked.

They couldn't stop staring. Suddenly they were the ones murmuring, asking why they didn't get that kind of service and meal.

So it is with life !

Some people are ahead of you and eating now, laughing at you about how they know people and how they're blessed with money and how they're enjoying life because of it.

You have been waiting long wondering why its taking soo long to get your breakthrough, enduring mockery and humiliation. Maybe you have gone through depression or suffered severe mental anxiety.

Do not worry !

The owner of the world has seen you. And doesn't want to give you simple meals like those laughing at you.

You've been waiting for long because yours is a special meal and takes time.

And only chief chef makes those !

Take heart today.

Wait for your meal and relax. When it comes, the laughing party will be silenced for good.

Calm down.

Have patience.

Have faith.

Stay blessed.

On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation.. His face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.

Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

'Oh, that's my trouble tree,' he replied 'I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children.. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God to take care of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again.' 'Funny thing is,' he smiled,' when I come out in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.

We all need a Tree!..

Friendship

They are the people you choose to be with you. If you want to know a person check on his/her friends and you can make it out.

Have you ever think why these people are so special on our life?? We all humans require support all the time, it's a tendency of human kind, so we meet people, we started trusting them, they help us when needed and it all started what we call friendship. Friends are our support system in society. After parents friends will help you grooming. Every person on this earth has somebody as a friend whom he/she can relay upon. This is created by god and its natural. It's same with birds and animals, they also need someone as support system.

Person without a friend is person dead. Have good friends and your life will be happy.

@zaverivishal

Aim High

We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.

My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy could almost ruin your car and sent us to the hospital!'

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.

Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,

So ... Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a garbage-free Life !

Food For Thought

Good Morning,Here comes your Read for the day. Today's read talks about a very common problem that is faced by most of us ( or rather all of us). It talks about how we tend to find faults with others without realizing that may be the fault lies with us!!!

Happy Reading....

A man feared his wife wasn't hearing as well as she used to, and thought she might need a hearing aid. Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family doctor to discuss the problem. The doctor told him there was a simple informal test the husband could perform to give himself a better idea about her hearing loss.

"Here's what you do" said the doctor, "Stand about 40 feet away from her, and say something in a normal conversational tone. See if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on, until you get a response."

That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and the husband was in the den. He says to himself, "I'm about 40 feet away, let's see what happens." In a normal tone he asks, 'Honey, what's for dinner?" No response. So the husband moves to closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from his wife and repeats, "Honey, what's for dinner?" Still no response. Next he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, "Honey, what's for dinner?" Again he gets no response, so... He walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. "Honey, what's for dinner?" Still no response. Finally, he walks right up behind her. "Honey, what's for dinner?"

"Vijay, for the FIFTH time, I've said: BIRYANI!"

The moral of the story: The problem may not be with the other person/s, as we always think. Instead it could be very much be with ourselves!

Do we check yourself before judging others!!!

FOOD FOR THOOUGHT....

What defines peace?? It’s eternal. Anything which makes us satisfied and complete can give us peace. It is in our hand to have this peace for us. The way we think, we speak, we behave these all has direct connection with peace. The more you cautious about your words and action the more peace you have. Still it is not completely in our hand to have peace all the time. Other people, our surrounding is also having impact on our mood and behavior. So definition of peace is different for person to person and situation. Peace describes a society or a relationship that is operating harmoniously and without violent conflict. Peace also involves the cause for its absence like, insecurity, social injustice, and economic inequality, racism. Let’s understand religious peace. Buddhists believe that peace can be attained once all suffering ends. To eliminate suffering and achieve this peace, they follow a set of teachings called the Four Noble Truths — a central tenet to their philosophy. Jews and Christians believe that true peace comes from a personal relationship with God. Jesus Christ (also called the "Prince of Peace" in the Book of Isaiah according to Christian interpretation) stated: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." Inner peace (or peace of mind) refers to a state of being mentally and spiritually at peace, with enough knowledge and understanding to keep oneself strong in the face of discord or stress. Being "at peace" is considered by many to be healthy homeostasis and the opposite of being stressed or anxious. Peace of mind is generally associated with bliss and happiness.

Peace of mind, serenity, and calmness are descriptions of a disposition free from the effects of stress. In some cultures, inner peace is considered a state of consciousness or enlightenment that may be cultivated by various forms of training, such as prayer, meditation, or yoga, for example. Many spiritual practices refer to this peace as an experience of knowing oneself. Finding inner peace is often associated with traditions such as Buddhism and Hinduism. This is in your control, totally in your control. Outer world cannot make you angry or anything else until you allow them to take a control on yourself. Nations go to war, often quoting peace as the reason. We must realize peace is a journey, not an end. Yet, in our efforts to obtain peace, we often do the most unpeacefull things. Instead of seeking inner peace, we seek to enforce peace on others. And that just doesn't work. Peace is a gift you can give to others and to yourself. Almost every day we pass through situations that cause stress, anxieties, worries or unhappiness. We often face problems, conflicts, demands or emergencies at work, at home or in relationships. Sometimes they lead to emotional and physical strain or problems. It is in these situations that a state of inner peace is a great blessing. A state of inner peace makes life easier, happier and more satisfying, and gives you the ability to deal effectively with every situation. You cannot always change your external conditions, but when you can bring peace to your mind, you will act and react differently, and this will transform your inner and external world. If I ask you what is the meaning of peace according to you? It take while to answer you, because definition of peace is vary person to person. Something gives peace to one person might not give same peace to another. Ask yourself what sets your mind peaceful? Is it music? Is it being with friends? Put yourself with whatever makes you at peace and try to find out your mental state at that point of time. What is it why you feel so peaceful with your friends? Is it helping them in need? It takes time to be completely peaceful. It is not a sudden activity but a gradual progression with all your efforts to attain it daily every minute. Peace is a journey of thousand miles and it must be taken one step at a time. Amount of peace has a correlation with the people you are surrounded. Every moment new things are happening in this world and around you. Some makes you happy some not. It is up to you which one to choose. WE all love peace but we are not ready to take wound for it as we are ready for war. Choose some mood booster things in your life and use it as a tool to have peace in your life. Peace is a state of mind and your choice in life.

It isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it.

Money is an item which acts as a medium of exchange which has legal and social acceptance with regards to making payment, buying materials. It also works as a standard of value and store of value. Money functions as a unit. One can buy almost everything with the exchange of money. What is the meaning of money in your life? Things? Freedom? Status? It buys medicine, food, builds home and pays for all your dreams. One can create wealth with the help of money, can fulfill all desire. Money has the power to purchase anything and power to complete your dreams. Money has become a meaning of life. It is hard, almost impossible to think about money honestly. It has an immense influence on everything we do. Very few people can understand the power of money. I have seen people changing because of money. They put money on first priority than anything else. People feel safe having lot of money, it makes them cool and satisfied. People think that they are safe and better than other people. Actually they are…

With the lot of money, it can certainly increase your ego. Money is a power , it is a beauty. It has great power to bring people together and as well as tear them apart. You cannot escape from money, it you escape it will chase you and catch you. In this fast changing world, getting rich has become easier than earlier. In past wealth tended to be built up over a period of time or inherited from your family. Today people are becoming wealthy quickly. Money cannot satisfy people. Imagine for a moment that you are 30 years old person and you suddenly get 100 million by some lucky draw. Now having this heap of money can fetch you new home, new clothes, new car and all you need. After that suddenly you realize that getting everything you want is not going to do anything for you. Very soon you feel as empty as you did before. If you are worrying about small thing now then you will be worrying about big things later on. It is in you, not in money. having money won’t change your inner make up.

Let’s say I am the guy sitting next to multimillionaire, I have got a decent salary but still I am not rich as he is. Is it justice to me?? Actually there is no justice. That is what the fundamental, it is not really a matter of being rich. It’s not even about money also. It’s about our basic emotions. We envy people, it is in all of us. It is a basic emotion of all people. It is a human nature, can’t help it. Now let me ask the millionaire guy sitting beside me, that how he felt when he got lot of money suddenly? He said, I was okay, everybody around me asked my opinion about various things because they think I know something, but I know only how to make lot of money. See, this guy wasn’t fooled by money. That’s the key for it. The thing is to see this greed not only in you but people around you also. The more money you have the more likely you are to be surrounded by “yes” people. They are not worthy for you, you should seek for person who disagree with you.

Think for the situation that you suddenly become rich, can you handle it? We all say, yes of course I can handle it very well. Its easy to say but not actually. We all have a plan for how we would handle getting rich, until it happens. People think that they are going to behave in certain way with money. But when they suddenly have money, it does something to them that they didn’t expect. On the other end, there are people who have stayed cool through it. Often they are people who have strong ethical lives. They know that there is something more important than money. Even when they become rich, it actually does not deflect them. Many people have misperception about wealthy person. There is a sense that if you are rich you are bad. What people don’t realize is that it takes great effort to be rich and more to keep rich. People who criticize wealthy person should meet them, they won’t find much difference between them. They does not realize that money is needed to do good things. Particularly in this culture you have to have money to do good things. You need money to save environment, feed the hungry, for education. Businessman always run behind the money, they forget that they are mortal, they are meant to love and serve the people. Money tempts most of the people to forget that they are people. We live, we are going to die and there is much more to life than making just money. Although without making money life is very difficult. Money can make people change, can change relationship, and can change thinking. It has a power to change everything in this world. Money is the only piece of paper which can never be found in dustbin throughout its life cycle. Money is the thing which gets us going all the day. According to me there are 2 things for which all human beings are running / fighting. One of that is money. I have seen people who change his standards for money. There is nothing wrong being rich, but greedy. Money can buy almost everything except your emotions.

One should be looking for joy, struggle and challenge for work. What you bring forth from your own hard work and heart. The happiness of hard work. No amount of money can buy it. That is the satisfaction of life, being human, fulfilling purpose of life.

Money is not everything but it is so many things.

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling.

It seemed that, as one problem was solved, a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to a boil. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans.

She let them sit and boil, without saying a word. In about twenty minutes, she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me, what do you see?"

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," the young woman replied. The mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. She then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity - boiling water - but each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened! The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" the mother asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?" Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong but, with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength? Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit but, after a death, a breakup, or a financial hardship, does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart? Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor.

If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?

Here are some basic rules that children should be learning in school, but unfortunately don’t. Not all of these have to do with academics.

Rule #1: Life is not fair. Get used to it. The average teen-ager uses the phrase, “It’s not fair” 8.6 times a day.

Rule #2: The real world won’t care as much about your self-esteem as much as your school does. It’ll expect you to accomplish something before you feel good about yourself. This may come as a shock. Usually, when inflated self-esteem meets reality, kids complain it’s not fair.

Rule #3: Sorry, you won’t make $40,000 a year right out of high school. And you won’t be a vice president or have a car phone either. You may even have to wear a uniform that doesn’t have a label.

Rule #4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait until you get a boss. He doesn’t have tenure, so he tends to be a bit edgier. When you screw up, he’s not going to ask you how you feel about it.

Rule #5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grand-parents had a different word of burger flipping. They called it “opportunity”. They weren’t embarrassed making minimum wage either. They would have been embarrassed to sit around talking about Kurt Cobain all weekend.

Rule #6: It’s not your parents’ fault. If you screw up, you are responsible. This is the flip side of “It’s my life,” and “You’re not the boss of me,” and other eloquent proclamations of your generation. When you turn 18, it’s on your dime. Don’t whine about it, or you’ll sound like a baby boomer.

Rule #7: Your school may have done away with winners and losers. Life hasn’t. In some schools, they’ll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. Failing grades have been abolished and class valedictorians scrapped, lest anyone’s feelings be hurt. Effort is as important as results. This, of course, bears not the slightest resemblance to anything in real life.

Rule #8: Life is not divided into semesters, and you don’t get summers off. Not even Easter break. They expect you to show up every day. For eight hours. And you don’t get a new life every 10 weeks. It just goes on and on. While we’re at it, very few jobs are interesting in fostering your self-expression or helping you find yourself. Fewer still lead to self-realization.

Rule #9: Television is not real life. Your life is not a sitcom. Your problems will not all be solved in 30 minutes, minus time for commercials. In real life, people actually have to leave the coffee shop to go to jobs. Your friends will not be as perky or pliable as Jennifer Aniston.

Rule #10: Be nice to nerds. You may end up working for them. We all could.

Rule #11: Smoking does not make you look cool. It makes you look moronic. Next time you’re out cruising, watch an 11-year-old with a butt in his mouth. That’s what you look like to anyone over 20. Ditto for “expressing yourself” with purple hair and/or pierced body parts.

Rule #12: You are not immortal. If you are under the impression that living fast, dying young and leaving a beautiful corpse is romantic, you obviously haven’t seen one of your peers at room temperature lately.

Rule #13: Enjoy your youth time while you can. Sure parents are a pain, school is a bother and life is depressing but someday you’ll realize how wonderful it was to be a kid. Maybe you should start now.

A woman was waiting at an airport one night, with several long hours before her flight. She hunted for a book in the airport shops, bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop.
She was engrossed in her book but happened to see, that the man sitting beside her, as bold as could be. . .grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between, which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene.
So she munched the cookies and watched the clock, as the gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock. She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by, thinking, “If I wasn't so nice, I would blacken his eye.”

With each cookie she took, he took one too, when only one was left, she wondered what he would do. With a smile on his face, and a nervous laugh, he took the last cookie and broke it in half.
He offered her half, as he ate the other, she snatched it from him and thought… oooh, brother. This guy has some nerve and he’s also rude, why he didn’t even show any gratitude!
She had never known when she had been so galled, and sighed with relief when her flight was called. She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate, refusing to look back at the thieving ingrate.
She boarded the plane, and sank in her seat, then she sought her book, which was almost complete. As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise, there was her bag of cookies, in front of her eyes.
If mine are here, she moaned in despair, the others were his, and he tried to share. Too late to apologize, she realized with grief, that she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief.

So here it comes... My favourite subject Destiny! Most of the people on this planet confused destiny with karma. They think that everything is pre written in their life and they have no control over it. Life passes by and thing will happen itself and people become spectator in their own life. I pity on those people for having lack of knowledge or I would say lack of clarity. Birth and death is not in our control and its decided by God based on Karma. What ever in between we do is in our control and it will be converted into good or bad karma. Some people name it as destiny also. Karma decides everything in life. Good karma good destiny, Bad karma bad destiny. Karma is what you are doing and destiny is function of karma. You only have control over your karma but you don't have any control over your destiny.

I personally believe in karma but I don't believe in destiny. People have control over his/her life and what ever happens in their life is not auto function. You do good things you get good things. Don't just think that everything is pre written and its out of your control. Its your life and you certainly have
Control over it. Don't be a spectator, be a player in your life. Life is beautiful, enjoy it to fullest.

Bill gates also has said " if you born poor its not your fault, but if you die poor its yours"

Recently I put this question on FB to get people's opinion and I get some very good thoughts on it.

He was happy because he was content. He was content because he was happy. One day a wise man came to him and told him about the glory of diamonds and the power that goes along with them. The wise man said, "If you had a diamond the size of your thumb, you could have your own city. If you had a diamond the size of your fist, you could probably own your own country." And then he went away. That night the farmer couldn't sleep. He was unhappy and he was discontent. He was unhappy because he was discontent and discontent because he was unhappy. The next morning he made arrangements to sell off his farm, took care of his family and went in search of diamonds. He looked all over Africa and couldn't find any. He looked all through Europe and couldn't find any. When he got to Spain, he was emotionally, physically and financially broke. He got so disheartened that he threw himself into the Barcelona River and committed suicide. Back home, the person who had bought his farm was watering the camels at a stream that ran through the farm. Across the stream, the rays of the morning sun hit a stone and made it sparkle like a rainbow. He thought it would look good on the mantel piece. He picked up the stone and put it in the living room. That afternoon the wise man came and saw the stone sparkling. He asked, "Is Hafiz back?" The new owner said, "No, why do you ask?" The wise man said, "Because that is a diamond. I recognize one when I see one." The man said, no, that's just a stone I picked up from the stream. Come, I'll show you. There are many more." They went and picked some samples and sent them for analysis. Sure enough, the stones were diamonds. They found that the farm was indeed covered with acres and acres of diamonds. What is the moral of this story? There are five morals:
1. When our attitude is right, we realize that we are all walking on acres and acres of diamonds. Opportunity is always under our feet. We don't have to go anywhere. All we need to do is recognize it.
2. The grass on the other side always looks greener.
3. While we are dyeing the grass on the other side, there are others who are dyeing the grass on our side. They would be happy to trade places with us.
4. When people don't know how to recognize opportunity, they complain of noise when it knocks.
5. The same opportunity never knocks twice. The next one may be better or worse, but it is never the same one.

The Horse That Wanted More Beauty

A cosmic god had a horse. The horse was beautiful and also it had many good qualities. But it wanted to be more perfect in every way. It especially wanted to become beauty unparalleled. One day the horse said to the cosmic god, "0 Lord, you have given me beauty. You have given me other good qualities. I am so grateful to you. But how I wish you could make me more beautiful. I would be extremely, extremely grateful if you could make me more beautiful." The cosmic god said, "I am more than ready to make you more beautiful. Tell me in what way you want to be changed."

The horse said, "It seems to me that I am not well proportioned. My neck is too short. If you can make my neck a little longer, my upper body will be infinitely more beautiful. And if you can make my legs much longer and thinner, then I will look infinitely more beautiful in my lower body. "The cosmic god said, "Amen!" Then immediately he made a camel appear in place of the horse. The horse was so disheartened that it started to cry, "0 Lord, I wanted to become more beautiful. In what way is this kind of outer form more beautiful?" The cosmic god said, "This is exactly what you asked for. You have become a camel."

The horse cried, "Oh no, I do not want to become a camel I wish to remain a horse. As a horse, everybody appreciated my good qualities. Nobody will appreciate me as a camel." The cosmic god said, "Never try to achieve or receive more than I have given you. If you want to lead a desire-life, then at every moment you will want more and more. But you have no idea what the outcome will be. If you cry for a longer neck and legs, this is what will happen. Each thing in my creation has its own good qualities. The camel is not as beautiful as you are, but it carries heavy loads and has a tremendous sense of responsibility.

Important Things In Life

A philosophy professor stood before his class with some items on the table in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, about 2 inches in diameter. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "Yes." "Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter - like your job, your house, your car.

The sand is everything else. The small stuff." "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued "there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal. Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.

A biology teacher was teaching his students how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. He told the students that in the next couple of hours, the butterfly would struggle to come out of the cocoon. But no one should help the butterfly. Then he left. The students were waiting and it happened. The butterfly struggled to get out of the cocoon, and one of the students took pity on it and decided to help the butterfly out of the cocoon against the advice of his teacher. He broke the cocoon to help the butterfly so it didn't have to struggle anymore. But shortly afterwards the butterfly died.

When the teacher returned, he was told what happened. He explained to this student that by helping the butterfly, he had actually killed it because it is a law of nature that the struggle to come out of the cocoon actually helps develop and strengthen its wings. The boy had deprived the butterfly of its struggle and the butterfly died.

Apply this same principle to our lives. Nothing worthwhile in life comes without a struggle. As parents we tend to hurt the ones we love most because we don't allow them to struggle to gain strength.

A young man asked Socrates the secret to success. Socrates told the young man to meet him near the river the next morning. They met. Socrates asked the young man to walk with him toward the river. When the water got up to their neck, Socrates took the young man by surprise and ducked him into the water. The boy struggled to get out but Socrates was strong and kept him there until the boy started turning blue. Socrates pulled his head out of the water and the first thing the young man did was to gasp and take a deep breath of air. Socrates asked, 'What did you want the most when you were there?" The boy replied, "Air." Socrates said, "That is the secret to success. When you want success as badly as you wanted the air, then you will get it." There is no other secret.

A burning desire is the starting point of all accomplishment.

Just like a small fire cannot give much heat, a weak desire cannot produce great results..

There was once a traveler who had to undertake a long journey. He yoked his animal to a cart and began the journey to

his faraway destination, a journey he had to complete within a certain length of time. He called the animal Necessity and the cart Desire; one wheel of the cart he called Pleasure, and the other he called Pain. Our traveler turned his cart sometimes to the right and sometimes to the left, yet he never ceased moving toward his destiny. The faster the cart traveled, the faster turned the wheels of Pleasure and Pain, carrying as they did the cart of Desire and connected as they were by the same axle.

But the journey was very long, and after a time our traveler grew bored. So he decided to decorate his cart, and he began to adorn it with all manner of beautiful things. But the more he embellished the cart of Desire with these ornaments, the heavier became the load for Necessity to pull. On the curves and steep hills of the road, the poor animal grew too exhausted to pull the cart of Desire. And where the road was soft, the wheels of Pleasure and Suffering became mired in the earth.

One day, because the road was long and he was still very far from his destination, our traveler grew desperate. That night he decided to meditate on the problem, and in the midst of his meditation he heard the neighing of his old friend, Necessity. Comprehending the message, he arose very early the next morning and began to lighten the cart of its burden, stripping it of all its fine adornments. Then he set off once more toward his destination, with the animal Necessity pulling the cart at a brisk trot. Still, our traveler had already lost much time—time that was now irrecoverable. The next night he sat down again to meditate, and he realized, thanks to another message from his old friend, that now he had to undertake a task that was doubly difficult because it involved his letting go. At daybreak he sacrificed the cart of Desire. It is true that when he did so he lost the wheel of Pleasure, but then he also lost the wheel of Suffering. And so, abandoning the cart of Desire, he mounted the animal called Necessity and galloped on its back across the green fields until he reached his destiny.

See how desire can trap you. But notice that there are desires of different qualities. There are cruder desires, and there are more elevated desires. Elevate desire, purify desire, surpass desire! In doing so, surely you will have to sacrifice the wheel of Pleasure—but you will also become free of the wheel of Suffering.
