It's hard to believe that Valentine's Day is coming up in 5 days!! If you're anything like me, then you should be arriving at the "omg-I-gotta-make-something-quick!!" mode.

I know, I know. You would think that I'd be more prepared considering what I do for a living, but nope, I'm not.

When I first saw this pin on Pinterest I couldn't help but laugh until I cried. As much as I adore all the great ideas on this site and the things I could make, one day, this couldn't be more true of how things may end up when I try it.

Birthday Girl Giveaway

New to shop - Aubergine Artichoke

You know how it is; you see something new one of your favorite stores and you fall in love! Whether it be a new pair of yellow shoes just in time for Spring (whenever it comes around), a dress perfect for a date night, a new gadget for your fabulously stocked kitchen.

In my case, this gorgeous textured, aubergine colored paper made me squeal in delight. Yes, it is an odd thing to get excited over especially if you are not a paper person. But I have a feeling that you are, since you're reading this post!

I just knew I had to have this beautiful paper and make something fun out of it.

Welcome to my shop......

This artichoke will be sold in a set of four. Each stands pdproximately 2 3/4" tall (without pin) approximately 1 3/4 - 2" at its widest point. Pins will be included to insert into the artichokes for name tags.

Use these as place settings for a Spring/garden wedding, your next dinner party or just something to adorn your desk with as an inspirational pick me up.

If you are a Pinterest member, you'll know what I mean when I say it's an addicting site! The endless ideas and creativity seen on there is, well, endless. I recently came upon an idea that I wish I had stumbled upon years ago, but it's better late than never right?

The brilliant idea? Jotting down funny things that your kids say on pieces of paper and putting them in a jar. At the end of the year, open the jar and relish in these memories you wrote down. I plan to take it one step further and paste the pieces of paper in a photo album, along with pictures of my kids taken throughout the year.

We were very fortunate to have a milder start to our winter here in Portland, OR. Our days would start off with some rain and fog, but the sun would appear in the late morning to early afternoon. We were spoiled! I thought for certain it would continue into the new year. Alas, I was wrong.

We are now into typical winter weather, wet, gray, cold, repeat.

In order to fight off the winter blues I've been putting together treasuries that are filled with color and feelings of Spring.

Wedding in Australia

A lovely woman named Britt from Australia contacted me a while back regarding the bright yellow pom pom place settings I have in my shop. She needed a handful for her upcoming wedding, which was held this past November.

These poms were made larger in size so that they could use it as table name cards for her wedding. I love how they turned out.

Congratulations again Britt, I wish you both the best!

What's on the menu

Ok, so this wasn't on tonight's menu. I think it was dinner this past Sunday (and a couple times before, because I loved it that much).

I edited the recipe ever so slightly to include bacon (for my kids) and shrimp (for my husband and myself). It's a delightful dish, light and tasty! This goes well with bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 lb. plum tomatoes, seeded and diced
1 cup fresh basil leaves, cut into thin strips
Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
1 lb. dried capellini

Directions:

In a large nonreactive bowl, combine the olive oil, tomatoes, basil, salt and pepper and stir until blended. Set aside.

Bring a large pot two-thirds full of water to a boil over high heat. Add salt and the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (tender but firm to the bite). Drain the pasta, add it to the tomato sauce and toss to mix. Taste and adjust the seasonings with salt and pepper. Divide the pasta among individual bowls and serve immediately. Serves 4.
