So I just got done reading a few more chapters of the tutorial and its really starting to make sense. Basically once you learn the basic structure, you can insert html elements within each other creating something more complex and creative.

But I used to love messing with my layout using HTML. I would even get layouts from different sites and use them as templates, tweaking them and trying things to see what tags did what. As silly as it might sound, that peaked my interest in HTML. I wanted to know how to make my own layouts for my Myspace profile. The first things I remember learning about HTML was how to make the text on my profile change size, alignment, and whether it was bold, italic, or underlined. Without any real training it was awesome to be able to do changes like that to my layout. But after a while, it just wasn't enough to only know how to do that. I wanted to learn even more. So here I am a few years later with little free time but still the same passion to learn. Want to learn HTML?
