Here are Windows 10's trackpad gestures.

Microsoft changed Windows for the better when it introduced trackpad gestures in Windows 8. The new gestures made controlling your PC a far more fluid experience, helping you get things done more efficiently without the need for mouse-like buttons at the top of the touch area.

In Windows 10, Microsoft improved on Windows 8's foundation. Beyond integrating existing gestures, the company added new touch controls and dumped items that wouldn’t make any sense in Windows 10, like swiping in from the right edge for the Charms bar (since Windows 10 doesn't have a Charms bar).

The only requirement for using these gestures is that you have a precision touchpad, so some older laptops won’t be able to use them.

If you’re not sure if your touchpad supports gestures, open the Settings app and go to Devices > Mouse & touchpad. Under the “Touchpad” heading it will say “Your PC has a precision touchpad” if you can swipe and tap instead of clicking.

Select an item: Tap on the touchpad
Scroll: Place two fingers on the touchpad and slide horizontally or vertically
Zoom in and out: Place two fingers on the touchpad and pinch in or stretch out.
Right-click: Tap the touchpad with two fingers, or press on the bottom right corner
Open Task View: Place three fingers on the touchpad and swipe up (away from you).
Show desktop: Place three fingers on the touchpad and swipe down (towards you). Reverse the movement to get all your windows to return.
Switch between open windows: Place three fingers on the touchpad and swipe right or left (this is the same as pressing Alt + Tab).
Drag an open window: Double-tap and then drag from the title bar
Open Cortana: Tap the touchpad with three fingers. If you’d rather this gesture opened Action Center instead, you can change this default in Settings > Devices > Mouse & touchpad.

Let’s not beat around the bush: Windows 10 is wonderful. It’s head-and-shoulders better than Windows 8.1, at least for traditional PC users. The fact that it banishes full-screen apps and the Metro Start screen to the aether, focusing instead on the tried-and-true desktop, should be reason enough to make PC purists smile.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, though. If you’re fresh to Windows 10, these are the cool new features you’ll want to check out first.

Best new features in Windows 10: It's free

One of the biggest new developments in the Windows 10 story is that it will be completely free to upgrade. Microsoft made this announcement at its January event in Redmond. The firm has said it will be available at no charge for the first year (although it may end up extending that) for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 users. It will also be free if you're still running Windows 7.

Best new features in Windows 10: Start Menu

As we knew prior to the January briefing, Windows 10 will mark the return of the much loved Start Menu. In the latest build shown, it has some updated graphics and can optionally go full-screen. Half of the menu looks pretty much like it did in Windows 7 but there's the obvious addition of Live Tiles.

Best new features in Windows 10: Cortana

As we expected, Cortana is one of the headline features of Windows 10 – at least as far as Microsoft is concerned. The digital assistant, which rivals Siri and Google Now, has been available on Windows Phone for a while will come to PCsand tablets.

Cortana will sit next to with the Start button on the desktop, but you can invoke it by saying "Hey Cortana". You'll also be able to edit the things that Cortana knows about you to improve the service it provides. Typing to interact is also an option and you can request "show me photos from December" or "Show me PowerPoint slides about the charity presentation".

Best new features in Windows 10: Xbox app and streaming

There's good news for gamers as not only with the Xbox One get Windows 10 (including Universal apps – see below), Microsoft has introduced some sweet new features. Windows 10 will come with the Xbox app (although there was no mention of Windows 10 for phones getting it) which has features like the ability to control the Xbox One and a DVR capture for any Windows games.

Furthermore, you'll be able to play multiplayer games cross-platform between Xbox One and PC. As if that wasn't enough, Windows 10 will support the ability to stream games from the Xbox Box – although we don't have details on the technical requirements for this yet. Oh and there's support for DirectX 12.

Best new features in Windows 10: Universal apps

The news of Universal apps is good news for anyone using more than one Windows device. A bundle of apps including Photos, Videos, Music, Maps, People & Messaging and Mail & Calendar (and presumably more in the future) will look and feel the same across different devices and screen sizes. The data will also be saved and sync automatically via OneDrive.

Best new features in Windows 10: Edge browser

Microsoft's new web browser is called Edge, formally 'Project Spartan' and will replace Internet Explorer in Windows 10. It's been built with 'interoperability' in mind, according to Microsoft. Features include a reading mode and the ability to annotate, either with a keyboard, pen or a finger. There's also integration with Cortana to provide additional information – for example, when you're on a web page for a restaurant Cortana will make a booking and display information such as opening times.

Best new features in Windows 10: Enhancements

Thanks to the Windows Insider program, Microsoft is making changes suggested by Windows users around the globe. Since Windows 10 runs across all devices, the OS will have unified settings. That means the end of separate control panel and PC settings. There's also the Action Center now provides notifications and is synchronised across devices.

Best new features in Windows 10: Windows Phone

It looks like the death of Windows Phone is near as Windows 10 will arrive on Windows Phone devices when it launches. Microsoft has given no other name for it running on smartphone and small tablets.

In general it looks much the same as Windows Phone 8 but with tweaks. As mentioned above, Action Center is synced with your other devices and the app menu will show recently installed apps at the top. Two cool new additions are the ability to float the keyboard around the screen and reply to message notifications in-line.

Best new features in Windows 10: HoloLens

This one might be somewhat far off and futuristic, but Windows 10 is the first holographic computing platform. A set of APIs will mean developers can create holographic experiences in the real world.

It's more like augmented reality to us but it's certainly interesting. It will work with the HoloLens which Microsoft calls the world’s first untethered holographic computer (it doesn't need to connect to a PC to work).

Best new features in Windows 10: Continuum Mode

On 2in1 devices (hybrids and convertibles), Windows 10 will make life easier with a 'Continuum Mode'. This means the OS moves easily between laptop(keyboard/mouse) and tablet (touch) usage modes automatically. It will do this if it detects the loss or addition of a keyboard.

16.1. MySQL Cluster Overview

MySQL Cluster is a technology that enables

clustering of in-memory databases in a shared-nothing system. The
shared-nothing architecture enables the system to work with very
inexpensive hardware, and with a minimum of specific requirements
for hardware or software.

MySQL Cluster is designed not to have any single point of failure.
In a shared-nothing system, each component is expected to have its
own memory and disk, and the use of shared storage mechanisms such
as network shares, network file systems, and SANs is not recommended
or supported.

MySQL Cluster integrates the standard MySQL server with an in-memory
clustered storage engine called NDB
(which stands for “Network
DataBase”). In our
documentation, the term NDB refers to
the part of the setup that is specific to the storage engine,
whereas “MySQL Cluster” refers to the combination of
one or more MySQL servers with the NDB
storage engine.

A MySQL Cluster consists of a set of computers, known as
hosts, each running one or more processes.
These processes, known as nodes, may include
MySQL servers (for access to NDB data), data nodes (for storage of
the data), one or more management servers, and possibly other
specialized data access programs. The relationship of these
components in a MySQL Cluster is shown here:

All these programs work together to form a MySQL Cluster (see
Section 16.4, “MySQL Cluster Programs”. When data is stored by the
NDB storage engine, the tables (and
table data) are stored in the data nodes. Such tables are directly
accessible from all other MySQL servers (SQL nodes) in the cluster.
Thus, in a payroll application storing data in a cluster, if one
application updates the salary of an employee, all other MySQL
servers that query this data can see this change immediately.

However, a MySQL server that is not connected to a MySQL Cluster
cannot use the NDB storage engine and
cannot access any MySQL Cluster data.

The data stored in the data nodes for MySQL Cluster can be mirrored;
the cluster can handle failures of individual data nodes with no
other impact than that a small number of transactions are aborted
due to losing the transaction state. Because transactional
applications are expected to handle transaction failure, this should
not be a source of problems.

Individual nodes can be stopped and restarted, and can then rejoin
the system (cluster). Rolling restarts (in which all nodes are
restarted in turn) are used in making configuration changes and
software upgrades (see
Section 16.5.4, “Performing a Rolling Restart of a MySQL Cluster”). For more
information about data nodes, how they are organized in a MySQL
Cluster, and how they handle and store MySQL Cluster data, see
Section 16.1.2, “MySQL Cluster Nodes, Node Groups, Replicas, and Partitions”.

Backing up and restoring MySQL Cluster databases can be done using
the NDB native functionality found in the MySQL Cluster management
client and the ndb_restore program included in
the MySQL Cluster distribution. For more information, see
Section 16.5.3, “Online Backup of MySQL Cluster”, and
Section 16.4.15, “ndb_restore — Restore a MySQL Cluster Backup”. You can also
use the standard MySQL functionality provided for this purpose in
mysqldump and the MySQL server. See
Section 4.5.4, “mysqldump — A Database Backup Program”, for more information.

MySQL Cluster nodes can use a number of different transport
mechanisms for inter-node communications, including TCP/IP using
standard 100 Mbps or faster Ethernet hardware. It is also possible
to use the high-speed Scalable Coherent
Interface (SCI) protocol with MySQL Cluster, although
this is not required to use MySQL Cluster. SCI requires special
hardware and software; see
Section 16.3.5, “Using High-Speed Interconnects with MySQL Cluster”, for more about SCI
and using it with MySQL Cluster.

Notepad++ is a free (as in "free speech" and also as in "free beer") source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages. Running in the MS Windows environment, its use is governed by GPL License.

Based on the powerful editing component Scintilla, Notepad++ is written in C++ and uses pure Win32 API and STL which ensures a higher execution speed and smaller program size. By optimizing as many routines as possible without losing user friendliness, Notepad++ is trying to reduce the world carbon dioxide emissions. When using less CPU power, the PC can throttle down and reduce power consumption, resulting in a greener environment.

Syntax Rules

The syntax rules of XML
are very simple and logical. The rules are easy to learn, and easy to use.

1. All XML Elements Must Have a Closing
Tag

In
XML, it is illegal to omit the closing tag. All elements must have a
closing tag:

This is a paragraph

This is another paragraph

2. XML Tags are Case Sensitive

XML tags are case sensitive. The tag <Letter> is
different from the tag <letter>.

3. XML Elements Must be Properly Nested

In
XML, all elements must be properly nested within each other:

4. XML Documents Must Have a Root
Element

XML
documents must contain one element that is the parent of all other
elements. This element is called the root element.

5. XML Attribute Values Must be Quoted

6. Entity References

Some characters have a
special meaning in XML.

If you place a character
like "<" inside an XML element, it will generate an error because
the parser interprets it as the start of a new element.

To
avoid this error, replace the "<" character with an entity
reference:

<message>if salary < 1000
then</message>

There
are 5 predefined entity references in XML:

>	>	greater than
&	&	ampersand
'	'	apostrophe
"	"	quotation mark

Note: Only the characters "<" and
"&" are strictly illegal in XML. The greater than character is
legal, but it is a good habit to replace it.

7. Comments in XML

The syntax for writing
comments in XML is similar to that of HTML.

8. White-space is Preserved in XML

HTML
truncates multiple white-space characters to one single white-space:

With
XML, the white-space in a document is not truncated.

9. XML Stores New Line as LF

In Windows applications, a
new line is normally stored as a pair of characters: carriage return (CR) and
line feed (LF). In Unix applications, a new line is normally stored as a LF
character. Macintosh applications also use an LF to store a new line.

When storing data about specific named values, a numerical array is not always the best way to do it.

With associative arrays we can use the values as keys and assign values to them.
Example 1
In this example we use an array to assign ages to the different persons:

Comparison Operators

Comparison operators are used in logical statements to determine equality or difference between variables or values.

Given that x=5, the table below explains the comparison operators:

==	is equal to	x==8 is false
===	is exactly equal to (value and type)	x===5 is true x==="5" is false
!=	is not equal	x!=8 is true
>	is greater than	x>8 is false
<	is less than	x<8 is true

Logical Operators

Logical operators are used to determine the logic between variables or values.

Given that x=6 and y=3, the table below explains the logical operators:

To generate dynamically generated web pages, Active server pages were used. But with the development of technology now ASP technology is now not anymore been used by many web development company. With the help of ASP interestingly one can put together HTML pages, COM components and create, develop and modify powerful web based applications easily. One can easily group related groups functions and data attributes.

Some of the web designers are still using application because of cheap hosting. But majority of them have started using ASP.net. Classic ASP development has still not lost its importance. Many web development companies still provide with ASP development services. They find it to be a regular program with lightweight development. It is already installed, runs instantly, and there is no configuration required and is available on any PC.

IIS: Creating Multiple Web Sites within IIS on Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional

In the server versions of Windows, you can have multiple versions of web sites installed into IIS and running simultaneously. You can install and run more than one web site within IIS in the professional version of Windows XP or Windows 2000. You just have to pull a trick to modify the IIS metabase to that it is aware of the additional sites. The user interface does not support creating more than one web site. Also, you still will not be able to have more than one site running at the same time.

To create the second web site:

* Create a command prompt window.
* Type "cd \Inetpub\Adminscripts" and press enter.
* Find out what the highest numbered site you currently have is. You can do that by typing

adsutil.vbs ENUM /P W3SVC

If you have never done this process before, the highest numbered site should be 1.
* Add one to the highest numbered site. Then run this command:

adsutil.vbs COPY W3SVC/1 W3SVC/x

Where x is replaced by the new numbered site. For example if you run the enum command and the highest numbered site is 4, then type this:

adsutil.vbs COPY W3SVC/1 W3SVC/5

* Run the IIS Manager. You should find a new site has been created. It will be an exact copy of site #1, so you will need to change a few things. Go into the properties for the web site. Change the site name, and the virtual directory for the root of the web site to point to another location on the hard disk. Usually, you will create a new subdirectory under Inetpub and point the virtual directory at that.
* To use the site, you must first stop the currently running site, then start the new site.

To delete a site, first stop it if it is running (bad things happen if you don't!). Then type:

adsutil.vbs DELETE W3SVC/x

Where x is the number of the site you want to delete.

You can find the number for an existing web site in IIS Manager by enabling logging and examining the logging properties. The web site number is at the bottom of the dialog.
