in older version NetBeans default uninstall location was /usr/local/netbeansxxxx

but in new versions they have changed installation locations , actually you can decide to which location to install

in new versions you can easily find the installed location just right click and checking properties of NetBeans Desktop icon

in my case i have installed it in my Home folder

i opened terminal

moved to installation location using cd /installation path

*change installation path to yours

When i was trying to add new 3TB hdd to HP DL 180 G6 Server which has a HP Smart Array P410 Controller in it , the HDD is only detecting as 800 GB HDD Check the error below

After getting this error i have noticed and read instructions which came with HDD , in that instructions it clearly Saying that if we need to add HDD Which has a Capacity of 2.2 TB or above we need to upgrade the Current Firmware to 5.0 or later and supported controllers as follows

after downloading and updating firmware you Must restart your server and check whether it detecting or not , for that you can select controller check the information tab in HP ACU or simply check driver version in Windows Device Manager !

once you find the firmware version is detected as 5.0 or above you can add your HDD & and once it detect as correct HDD space you can create Logical volume.

And also you need to do one importing thing ! once you add hdd and create logical volume in Smart Array Controller . you need to Create GPT volume in windows Disk Manager than MBR , because to use above 2 tb you need to use GPT instead of MBR !

It becomes very difficult for so many people when they try to choose a JavaScript Framework. But I think it's more about framework vs. libraries. Using a framework may lead to a lock-in where as a library based approach yields more flexibility. Don't get me wrong. Frameworks are great in that they solve a lot of common concerns. This is just great for prototyping and development up to a point.

Frameworks Come with Boundaries

The problems begin as you start hitting the boundaries and go beyond what theframework was meant for. As the framework you are using gains new features you'll likely want to keep your application up to date. This incurs some cost and may lead to bigger refactoring at worst.

Libraries Are More Flexible

In a library based approach (say React + some router + some data solution) you can be more flexible. As technologies come and go you can upgrade portions of your application as you want. There's no need for big upheavals. Instead you set the pace. Say if a better router comes up you can replace that specific portion without having to disrupt the rest of the application.

Both Approaches Are Valid

Both approaches have their merits. I don't expect frameworks to go anywhere. I do believe a library based approach is a little underappreciated at the moment. It does require more legwork and it comes with more technical challenge when you are starting. But the flexibility it yields may just be worth it. But as I said, it depends on the context.

Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is a proprietary protocol developed by Microsoft , which provides a user with a graphical interface to connect to another computer over a network connection. The client PC uses RDP client software (often mstsc.exe) for this purpose, while the other computer must run RDP server software. This tutorial will teach you how to RDP to Linux machines.

Open your terminal in Linux machine then type the following command line in it (Ubuntu-based machines!)

 sudo apt-get install xrdp

In fedora-based machines you can use

 yum install xrdp

It will will ask permission to install the package , so just type your admin password and hit enter, and then type " y " to continue

This will install the xrdp package and start the RDP service in your Linux machine. Now you will need to determine the IP of the Linux machine. For that, type following command line in terminal:

 ifconfig

In this case my Linux machine`s IP is 192.168.1.110 Now type mstsc in the Windows Search field, which will open up the following window:

Now, simply type your Linux machine`s IP in the Computer: field, and then click connect. You will likely need to click through an authentication/version warning. Now you can see a xrdp login session. At this point, type your username and password for the Linux machine and click OK.

You are now connected to the Linux PC via RDP!

HP 3PAR shifts into higher gear

HP Discover is there again (December time frame for EMEA) and there are the new announcements.

An important message came from the HP Storage Division with a major update on its 3PAR portfolio. Find here the most important changes:

Hardware updates:

The current line-up in the 7000 range gets updated with new controllers. 7200 becomes 7200c (converged controller), 7400 becomes 7400c and there is a new “big” 7440c added with a huge 960 disks support.

The heart of the controller being the ASIC remains Gen4, the biggest difference is the expansion of the controller memory. This is off course needed for the second section of this post being the new file services added. There is separate cache foreseen (replicated across the controllers) for block and file access.

All controllers are now flash-optimized and can be used as AFA (All-Flash-Array) just like the 7450. The main difference however is that 7450 is AFA only, while the others can be configured with spinning media disks as well. Hot data gets cold after some amount of time, and so the 3PAR array can offload that not-so-hot data to cheaper spinning media…

Important message remains that, independent of the model you buy, you get the same features and functionality. Only the size is different. HP calls this Polymorphic Simplicity.

File Services:

One reason I am not attending HP Discover this time is that I had the possibility to attend a HP Storage event at HP in Houston with a lot of hands-on labs including all the new features. Including the newly announced File Services on the new 7xx0c models. Easy to set up, easy to manage. Really looking good.

If you wanted File Services so far you needed to add a pair of HP StoreServ File Controllers which is mainly a Proliant DL server with Windows Storage Server running on top of it.

Now there is (finally) an on-controller option.

Let it be clear from the start: the StoreServ File Controller is not gone. Let’s take a look at the similarities and differences.

The File Persona (on-controller) is only supported on the new 7xx0c models. Any other 3PAR array still need the File Controller. This is because of the current models (without the ‘c’) due to the reduced amount of cache in the controllers.

Further the File Persona supports at launch up to 3.000 concurrent users (1500 users per controller pair), the File Controller is tested up to 40.000 users. It supports also more TBs per controller (352TB versus 128TB with the File Persona.

Besides that you can expect the typical features like SMB, NFS, LDAP, NDMP and Rest API support.

At launch there are 2 antivirus scan engines supported that can be integrated with the File Persona: Symantec Protection Engine and McAfee VirusScan Enterprise. There is in-flight and at-rest protection available.

New management interface

For those who are familiar with the current IMC management console they will confirm that it got a little dated compared to other tools like for instance HP OneView.

Well the 3PAR developers looked very good to their colleagues from the server team since they released now a complete new management stack which looks completely like the ‘doughnut’ view of OneView.

The new tool is called SSMC (StoreServ Management Console) and must be installed on a separate server and is running as a web service.

This tool is also the primary tool to manage block and file storage.

Also System Reporter functionality will be moved into this new console.

No separate license is needed, only requirement is 3PAR OS 3.1.3 and above.

The newly announced Recovery Manager Central (RMC) enables flat backup from 3PAR directly to StoreOnce.

RMC for VMware supports application-consistent snapshots, RMC Express Connect for all other snap backups is crash-consistent.

What HP directly mentions is that it will not replace your backup application but that it is more complementary along with the backup app. But it will help for sure lower your RTO and RPO.

Together with already announced features like 6-nines support, Adaptive Flash Cache, inline Deduplication, Federation and so on, HP proves that the HP 3PAR platform is a leader in its market and is there to stay.

security software to detect malicious activity, protect systems and data, and support incident response efforts. Accordingly, security software is a major source of computer security log data. Common types of network-based and host-based security software include the following

Network Quarantine Servers : Some organizations check each remote host’s security posture before allowing it to join the network. This is often done through a network quarantine server and agents placed on each host. Hosts that do not respond to the server’s checks or that fail the checks are quarantined on a separate virtual local area network segment. Network quarantine servers log information about the status of checks, including which hosts were quarantined and for what reasons.

Routers : Routers may be configured to permit or block certain types of network traffic based on a policy. Routers that block traffic are usually configured to log only the most basic characteristics of blocked activity.

Web Proxies : Web proxies are intermediate hosts through which Web sites are accessed. Web proxies make Web page requests on behalf of users, and they cache copies of retrieved Web pages to make additional accesses to those pages more efficient. Web proxies can also be used to restrict Web access and to add a layer of protection between Web clients and Web servers. Web proxies often keep a record of all URLs accessed through them.

Vulnerability Management Software : Vulnerability management software, which includes patch management software and vulnerability assessment software, typically logs the patch installation history and vulnerability status of each host, which includes known vulnerabilities and missing software updates.5 Vulnerability management software may also record additional information about hosts’ configurations. Vulnerability management software typically runs occasionally, not continuously, and is likely to generate large batches of log entries.

Remote Access Software : Remote access is often granted and secured through virtual private networking (VPN). VPN systems typically log successful and failed login attempts, as well as the dates and times each user connected and disconnected, and the amount of data sent and received in each user session. VPN systems that support granular access control, such as many Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) VPNs, may log detailed information about the use of resources.

Antimalware Software : The most common form of antimalware software is antivirus software, which typically records all instances of detected malware, file and system disinfection attempts, and file quarantines. 3 Additionally, antivirus software might also record when malware scans were performed and when antivirus signature or software updates occurred. Antispyware software and other types of antimalware software (e.g., rootkit detectors) are also common sources of security information.

Intrusion Detection and Intrusion Prevention Systems : Intrusion detection and intrusion prevention systems record detailed information on suspicious behavior and detected attacks, as well as any actions intrusion prevention systems performed to stop malicious activity in progress. Some intrusion detection systems, such as file integrity checking software, run periodically instead of continuously, so they generate log entries in batches instead of on an ongoing basis.

Firewalls : Like routers, firewalls permit or block activity based on a policy; however, firewalls use much more sophisticated methods to examine network traffic.6 Firewalls can also track the state of network traffic and perform content inspection. Firewalls tend to have more complex policies and generate more detailed logs of activity than routers.

Authentication Servers : Authentication servers, including directory servers and single sign-on servers, typically log each authentication attempt, including its origin, username, success or failure, and date and time.
