The whole project (a kind of ethnical collection mixing fur, lace, tartan, wood) is simply perfect: Her sketches are stunning (you just can't miss it!) and the photographs by Swiss photographers MAYA ROCHAT and SOPHIE BRASEY make you believe in a wild-glamour society living at night in the desert.

THORSTEN BRINKMANN´s photographic self-portraits are initiated by the things he finds: objects discarded by the civilisation, which he finds in bulk waste collections in the street, but also ordinary things like bottles, flower pots or shelves. Even his own body becomes an objet trouvè by the artist.

He pulls pieces of clothing he has found over his head, presses the delay-timer of his camera, runs toward a wall he has equally found, places a lamp shade, a pot or the cover of a tennis racket over his head and finds his pose. The results are unconventional.

His work so far has centred on the close relation between objects and people, always trying to evoke elements of painting in his sculptures or photos but the importance of the performance part is equally an important characteristic of his work.

Initially, JULIAN LOUIE wanted to be an architect. Then he came to New York and his passion for fashion supplanted his architecture study. After an internship at Calvin Klein, he was handpicked by FRANCISCO COSTA to participate in Italian Vogue and Australian Wool Innovation’s Protégé Project. And although he had no practical fashion experience other than internships at Imitation of Christ and Calvin Klein, he created his first collection in 2008: a set of fifteen colourful and very feminine mini dresses.

Thanks to his architectural background, he has a different approach to fashion which is very much about line, proportion, silhouette and texture: a difference that gives him an advantage.

His Spring collection 2010 is a series of dress in a tight gradiation of colour from peachy coral to nude to taupe to pink to white. From this idea, he explored different textures and experiments with different fabrics like ultrasuede. View all the collection at http://julianlouie.com/

BERNI SEARLE is a South African artist. Originally trained as a sculptor, she now utilises large-scale digital photographic prints and combines them with found materials to make her compelling installations.

Using her own body as subject and point of departure, BERNI SEARLE experiments with the surface of her skin, allowing it to be clad in layers of coloured and aromatic spices, leaving her bodily imprint on drifts of spices on the floor, or staining certain areas of her body with various substances, suggesting trauma, or damage.

"Without providing any definite answers, I think my work raises questions about attitudes towards race and gender. I think it operates on different levels and reflects different racial and political experiences - but I don't think my pieces are limited by that. I hope they transcend and go beyond that, and provide a space for illusion and fantasy. Director MICHAEL PAUL YOUNG recently launches his latest project "March in Thonburi", an experimental short created over two years.

Originally born and raised in Tennessee, he lives and works in Bangkok, Thailand since 2007. After this relocation, he sought to expose the many sensory influence of his adopted country have affected him by the way of "March in Thonburi": a rich sensory journey through an urban cultural atmosphere from the perspective of stranger in a strange land.

For the sound, he utilized the raw audio elements that he and his associates had recorded on the streets of Thonburi. Then MICHAEL MADILL of MADSOUND evolved these field recordings into a narrative under YOUNG’s direction, pushing and shoving the viewer through the confusing, intriguing, sometimes frightening sensory environment of March in Thonburi.

Last year in Switzerland, we had the chance to view the excellent exhibition: FORMS OF INQUIRY. The idea was to present architecture as seen through the practice of graphic design.The exhibition featured work by twenty contemporary international graphic designers who were asked to contribute ‘inquiries’ into architectural subjects. FORMS OF INQUIRY expanded as its travels, continually emphasizing local research and sites for exchange.

Drawing is a daily routine for Belgian artist RINUS VAN DE VELDE, who uses an extensive personal archive of photographic clippings from old issues of National Geographic, film stills and internet sources to recreate the images in dark charcoal on white paper. The drawings couple these appropriated images with text from different genres (brief captions, dialogues or commentary), forming new meaning through context.

By arranging drawings in nonlinear installations, linked by ambiguous and often incomplete textual references, it becomes possible to weave a new narrative, that suggests a whole world in which a number of recurrent characters live and move. It can be nothing but a fantasy, a fiction, and so beyond its borders lies the great nothingness of the “real” world. - by KOELN SELS

They like pop-music and films and that's why they direct music videos.

The music video Doubtful Comforts by Blue Roses (or LAURA GROVES Groves, a British multi-instrumentalist) uses the 3D camera shift technique for a surprising and awesome result.

The works of Dutch photographer MARCEL VAN DER VLUGT explore the various aspects of beauty, such as beauty ideals, transitoriness and makability. The quest for beauty can be considered as the central theme of these works. These pictures, mostly staged and composed, find their inspiration in the visual language of various media, amongst which the fashion and advertising industry.

MARCEL VAN DER VLUGT has sucked in photography with his mother’s milk: his family lived above his parents’ photo studio in Naaldwijk in the Netherlands.

During his study at the School of Photography in the Hague he already shot editorials for Dutch magazines and in 1979 he became assistant in Düsseldorf and London. There he took up a lot of experience by working both on remote locations and in the studio. In the mean time he made autonomous work, which he exhibited in Eindhoven in 1981 for the first time. DINO VALLS is a self-taught Spanish painter living and working in Madrid, Spain. Having previously obtained a degree in medicine, he is now one of the Spanish representatives of the vanguard of new figurative art. He has participated in important international exhibitions of contemporary art, and has held numerous showings in Europe and the United States.

His paintings (VALLS does not paint from live models or even photographs, but invents his figures) are overflowing with suggestions of pain, isolation, physical discomfort and psychological distress and are painstakingly crafted with the application of layers of tempera over which he lays transparent oil glazes. His technique is steeped in the traditions of old master Dutch and Italian painting, which he has studied.

Hysteria, pink mania, a fetish, the skin. One colour full of meanings. A hectic rhytm of the video reflects the fever of individual in the global and weird world. There aren´t any limits of binging and inequality. Asexuals, beggars and artists face one other, time vanes and speeds up. Feelings of alienation and bystanding are present.
