Just to let you know that I have been in a Crocheting Frenzy for the last few weeks. I am currently in a pile of finished items waving a white flag for someone to dig me out.

Hi everyone, I'm back,

I haven't been writing for a while as things have been a bit hectic lately. Both my Mum and Mother -in- Law have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. (What are the chances of that happening)?

My Mum seems to have a worse dose, if that's what you can call it. She gradually became weaker and weaker to the point where she couldn't even cut a slice of cake. She got to the stage where she couldn't walk as she was fixed to the floor and it took ages for her to be able to lift her foot off the ground. When she eventually did start walking it was slower than a snail. We used to joke that she was Steve Austin the bionic man (A TV series in the 70's where Steve Austin would run so fast due to his bionic legs that they had to show him in slow motion - if you don't laugh, you will cry).

The worse thing about all this is that she was going to the doctors and he was treating her for a bad back!!! This went on for about a year, she was so distressed one day I went to see her doctor with her and he finally sent her to the hospital.

She had to have blood tests and an MRI on her brain and the doctor started her off on a low dose of Sinemed, where she had to gradually increase the dose over a few weeks.

I am glad to say that she is feeling a lot better now, even though she still 'sticks' to the floor sometimes, she is stronger and is able to
do most things again. Thank God.

Parkinson's disease is progressive, so the medication might not be as effective in the future, so she might get worse again. Hopefully, progress might be made in treating it and a cure might be found.

I decided that I would like to raise money for research into Parkinson's disease. So as I like to crochet, I thought I would make some baby items to sell on ebay. I will be dividing the proceeds (if any) between Parkinson's disease research and Alzheimer's research. (My Dad had Alzheimer's).

My little boy was having boiled egg and soldiers for breakfast yesterday and he was messing about, so I said jokingly "come on, hurry up and eat your oeuf".
He said "What is an oeuf?"
I told him it means 'egg' in french.
"Oh", he said, "It has the same name as the planet we live on".

NEW FASHION STATEMENT

Hi,

I have been cooking again. This time I have been making chicken cacciatore. It is really easy to make, which is good considering I have been decorating the house and haven't had much time to do anything else. At this moment I am sitting writing this looking really chic with emulsion paint stuck in my hair, white splatters on my face and gloss paint on my hands. I have tried in vain to remove the paint, but to no avail. Oh well, I could pretend I am making a fashion statement, you never know it might catch on! Before I sign off, I will attach a video of my recipe and then its back to the Cif to do some more paint removal ..... I hope I have some skin left at the end of it all.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - STICK IN THE MUD!

It's New Years Eve, but I am going to be a stick in the mud tonight, I am staying at home and I might ..if I can be bothered stay up to see in the new year. I love Christmas, but New Year doesn't mean much to me apart from crowds of people in the pubs trying fruitlessly to get served. At the end of the night, you have to wait ages for a taxi, then after an exceedingly long wait you will be lucky to get one at all. I usually get stuck beside someone in the taxi queue who is as drunk as a skunk. ( Yes, we do get the occasional drunk skunk around these parts as well as the odd squirrel. I thought squirrels would be more refined, obviously not!) They insist on talking drivvle about how much they love everyone blah, blah, blah, snore!
Oh well, I wish you all a very happy New Year........yes even you, the drunkard in the taxi queue.

Hi,

Oh, my goodness, I am really mortified!
We went to Christmas confession at our church last night, and when my son came back from the priest, I asked him what he had confessed to.
You can imagine my shock and horror when he replied....... quite calmly I might add, that he had said the 'F' word and the 'C' words, that he was sorry and wouldn't do it again!
Horrified, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I didn't think my son knew such words with him being so young. So, just to be sure I said to him, 'Spell the words to me'. ' F-a-r-t and c-r-a-p' he said.
What a relief, I thought. But, hang on a minute, the priest doesn't know he meant those words. Doh! What must he think?

A FUNNY JOKE!

I HEARD A FUNNY JOKE TODAY.
THIS MAN WAS IN A PUB, SITTING AT THE BAR. WHILE HE WAS HAVING HIS DRINK, HE STARTED TALKING INTO HIS HAND.
THE BARMAN ASKED WHAT HE WAS DOING.
THE MAN REPLIED 'EVER SINCE I HAD A HEAD INJURY I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO USE MY HAND AS A PHONE'.
THE BARMAN DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM. SO THE MAN LET HIM LISTEN IN TO HIS NEXT PHONE CALL. THE BARMAN WAS AMAZED!
AFTER A WHILE THE MAN TOLD THE BARMAN THAT HE WAS GOING TO THE TOILET AND WOULD HE POUR HIM A DRINK WHILE HE WAS AWAY.
ABOUT 10 MINUTES PASSED AND THE MAN HAD NOT RETURNED TO THE BAR. SO THE BARMAN WENT TO THE TOILETS TO SEE IF HE WAS OK.
WHEN THE BARMAN OPENED THE DOOR TO THE TOILETS HE SAW THE MAN BENDING OVER WITH REAMS OF TOILET PAPER COMING FROM HIS BUM.
'WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON HERE?' SAID THE BARMAN.
'OH DON'T WORRY', SAID THE MAN, I'M JUST RECEIVING A FAX!

I LAUGHED SO MUCH WHEN I HEARD THIS. MY IMAGINATION RAN AWAY WITH ME.

I heard a funny story today. We were talking about the nativity plays the children have at school and it appears that Joseph has a new career. Yes indeed. One little boy announced that Jesus' father was .... a carpet fitter! Bless him.
Still waiting for my husband to get the Christmas decorations down from the loft for me. (I'm too scared to go up the ladder - I know, I know, I'm a wimp)
I've already asked him about 600 times to do it for me. I think I will meet him at the front door tonight and threaten him with a rolling pin (or better still to talk to him all night). Maybe then he will get the darn things down for me.
Oh well, I'm off to put the icing on the Christmas cake. When I'm finnished it will probably look as if there has been an explosion in a bakers shop.

Hi again, no mishaps this morning thank goodness.
I was getting bogged down with all of the things to do for Christmas so I decided to wrap the rest of my presents up today. Thats one thing scratched off my "to do" list, only another 4 million things left to do.
I think I will put the Christmas tree up this weekend. I have bought some new decorations for the tree, it will be red and gold this year. I hope it will look nice. I am starting to feel a little bit Christmassy now. How about you?
Ralph was feeling festive yesterday so I made a little video of him. Here it is. I hope you like it.

AAAAAAGH, NOT AGAIN!

After dragging myself out of bed this morning, I staggered bleary eyed into the kitchen and then it happened.......again! I slipped and nearly fell down. How did you slip, you may wonder? Well, Ralph had been sick on the kitchen floor and I had trodden on it before I got the chance to put the light on. Yes, it was all over my bare feet.....eeew! To make matters worse, Ralph thought I was playing a game when I was clearing it up and was jumping around me having a great time. Clearing up dog sick first thing in the morning is not really my idea of a good start to the day, especially when it contains tiny little bones in it. Yes .... you've guessed it, FROG bones! Ralph must have had another feast when he was out on walkies last night, the little.........!

I'M SORRY!

Oh well, the day can only get better - I hope.

Hi again,

I was wondering if you would like this delicious ( NOT) recipe I found in a 1930's recipe book.
I found the book whilst foraging through a second hand book store in Yorkshire.

All I can say is that I'm glad I wasn't around in the 30's if you had to eat this.
I don't know if you can see it clearly but the dish is called Savoury Balls For Pies! Mmmm mmh! My mouth is watering.
It contains delicious ingredients such as Heart and Liver. Why not make this and give your family a treat.

Hi,
I said yesterday that I was going to upload a video of my son and my dog Ralph. So, here it is. For those people who like dogs, you couldn't wish for a more loyal and happy dog, his tail never stops wagging, sometimes I think it must get repetitive strain injury ha, ha!
Ralph has only one fault that I can think of and that is ........ wait for it.......I can hardly bear to tell you....well, he sort of eats frogs, yeah, you read it right, frogs. We live near to a woods with a large pond and there are lots of frogs about, so when he goes out for a walk, he gets into his hunting mode and is not happy until he's found one. Yuk!!!

My son Anthony (who has only just turned 12) plays a game where he pretends that Ralph gets up to all sorts of adventures and silly things in his dreams. So todays Slumbertime Adventures of Ralph is that he put on one of my pop socks over his head (the smellier the better as far as he is concerned) and headed off the butchers shop. When he got there, he kicked the door open and pointed his sawn off pop gun at the butcher and shouted "Your sausages or your life"!. The butcher, who was shaking, quickly passed over the booty and Ralph made a quick gettaway on his souped up tricycle which was waiting outside. I know its silly, but its fun!

I thought I would post a video of my son and our English Cocker Spaniel tomorrow. You can see a photo of Ralph at the top of my blog. Isn't he cute?
He has just been out for a long walk and it is freezing cold in Newcastle at the moment so he has decided to cuddle into me for a warm and a cuddle. Aah, bless him!

When I was a child, my Mum used to let me make Chocolate Australian Crunchies, they are really easy to make and they taste great. If you have kids and its raining outside and they're driving you insane, why not let them while away a bit of time making these, it might give you a little bit peace for a while - come to think of it, my Mum was very keen for me to make them, now I know why.
