Mustard Pimp's New Album: No Title or Purpose. OUT NOW!

Mustard Pimp's new album 'No Title or Purpose' was released yesterday, October 25th, on all major online music stores, through infamous Dim Mak Records. I recommend you take your time to listen to the tracks below and then click here to purchase. The link is for the Deluxe version, which has all the previously released remixes for Money Shot, Catch Me, and ZHM, which if you don't have you should most definitely get NOW!

The album features some great and interesting collaborations with Blatta & Inesha, Dirtyphonics, Chali 2na, Alec Empire and many others. There is definitely something for everyone in Mustard Pimp's latest production, some might even go as far as categorizing some tracks as dubstep or hip hop, all of course imbued with the duo's own sound and aggressiveness. There is definitely a heavier use of vocals than in their previous productions, which to some might not be ideal. But where 'Wide Eyes' might be a new genre in which the duo is tapping, there are still tracks like 'Radio Techno Allah' that remind me of the first time I heard 'Gold'. Overall, it is great album and if you like Mustard Pimp you will not be disappointed. Enjoy the tracks!

Justice's New LP in Justice's Own Words

Justice's latest LP 'Audio, Video, Disco' has probably been the most anticipated album of the year, and probably the subject of most debate among the french duo's fans. Not surprisingly, to those looking for Cross Pt. 2 the album did not cut it. Nonetheless, it is important to recognize that there is very high quality work and production value behind some of those tracks. I could sit here and argue either side of the argument all night long, but it doesn't really matter. You already listened to the tracks and have made up your own mind. You already know how much you love/hate it, and how stoked/disappointed you are that they took a different approach to production than they did with Cross. Feel like asking Justice why the change? Well, here is what they have to say about it (at least what Xavier has to say, Gaspard seems to quietly agree):

We have already established pretty well who the fuck is Haezer in these pages, so I am going to get straight to the point. We all heard Haezer's banger Monkey back in 2010 (if you haven't take a few and click HERE before proceeding), we know the track is hard to say the least. The good news is that CRUX Records is releasing an EP with remixes by Pelussje, You Killing Me, Doc Trashz, Brian Cox, Shax, and Andy's Ill. In other words it is going to be a sick EP. If you don't want to take my word for it here two good reasons to be excited:

Thank god people remember what hard electro is supposed to sound like. If you follow what we do here around TCHNCRCY Music we've put up some awesome remixes VNNR's put down in the past. We're talking Oddworld's "Kortelas", Despuis91's "Erothiq", and most importantly, TCHNCRCY favorite, Irish Steph's "Power Pt. 2". Now we come to bring you the newest hit from the boy from Belgium, WHAT? This EP is crazy heavy. The original is hands down my favorite off the release, courteously released by label Lektroluv I might add, but Modek put's his shine on the song in regular fashion while half of Hey Today!, now known as Nickel, almost may have stolen the show with a few more flowing synths and a bit less distortion. Of course if you like the original, you'll still enjoy Dr. Lektroluv's own up tempo take on the track. But you're all big boys and girls. Make up you're own minds. For those of you who know us, you already know TCHNCRCY loves Justice. And if you're like me, you've already have heard this track up and down. I'm excited for the new album. These dudes are heavy hitters and we all know it. Civilization was awesome for me. Audio Video Disco is great as well. People talk about the underwhelming feel you get from the first listen but these songs are built to last. More importantly, they fit pretty much any set. I'm excited for the LP and this is a taste. Tell me you aren't feeling it. Summer closing out and all the producers that have been hidden away in their dark rooms finding that new sound that's going to crush it when the cold winter months hit are about to bust out on to the scene. So I'm here to bring you the first of many great tracks. The S, long friends of TCHNCRCY, just dropped one of the best EP's I've heard in a long time. Welcome to Yuk It Up. I've been waiting to hear some original stuff after their remix of "Prelude" caught my heavy hitters list and landed on repeat. And I'm not trying to mess with you. This new EP is absolute fire. I want to give you a specific time to really listen for in the songs but if you aren't hooked in the first 30 seconds you might as well pack your bags and go home. Personally I love "I Feel You" as my favorite but "Yuk It Up" is more than listenable. It's downright amazing. This is why I'm bringing it to you. The songs hit hard without being pretentious and can definitely get a floor moving. I honestly didn't even look up whether the boys had put up anything after I got the EP because it's just that god damn good. However, as luck would have it they have a preview up for free on soundcloud, just because they're awesome like that. If you don't love the S already, listen. If you do, go buy the EP. Oh and by the way, our friendly killers at Mahtrasher Recorcds are putting out the EP. Never forget who brought you the best. Thank you Andrew. Nero's New LP - Welcome to Reality

I have mixed feelings about posting up this LP. On one hand, Nero is an incredibly gifted pair of sound engineers who know how to spin dubstep into just some of the greatest bass drops that you might just lose your mind. I remember hearing Doctor P, Flux Pavilion, and Nero all drop just these crazy tracks right around when they did "Innocence", and I was like damn, the UK just owns dubstep. But on the other hand, a lot of people really liked it. A lot. And Rusko had the dub scene swelling in the states as more and more kids got into it, ending in what we have today. A rising tide of really awful brostep and wobbles being made fun of because the snyths are just fluctuating wildly over poorly made two-step beats in everybody's attempt at dubstep.

I know it's not really the biggest issue in the world. Bad music will always be around. And it's not fair of me to blame Nero for it, but I kind of do. "Welcome to Reality" is a great album with some of the most annoying tracks snuck in that just kind of leave a bad taste in your mouth. I don't know why. All of their hits are in there: "Innocence", "Promises", "Guilt", "Me and You", and the more recent "New Life". There's also what I'm assuming is Nero's take on "Stress" which isn't bad in the song "Angst", but sounds exactly like you think it would. And overall the rest of the other tracks are great. But when I listen to tracks like "Crush on You", "My Eyes", and "Must Be the Feeling" I feel like I need a shower. It just sounds like manufactured Dub-Trance that I know inspires so much awful music to pop-up. It's not like these songs can't hold their own. They're well made and I can totally understand someone liking them. It's just how many times do you want to hear another giant epic sweep up with some random chick singing some loop to hit into a wobbling bassline. It's just repetitive in the same way people hate Rusko for having the same sounds.

Regardless, you should check out the release and make up your own mind about the situation. If you're missing Nero's hits from your collection then you should pick it up. "Innocence" and "Me and You" remain awe-inspiring tracks and the new "Fugue State" and "Doomsday" absolutely crush. If you have everything Nero already, then maybe check out the tracks I mentioned before you grab it.

The M Machine New Single + HARD Comes to Portland

I'll admit it. For a bit of time I lost faith. After seeing some absolutely garbage shows here in Portland (I'm looking at you Bohemia) I was beginning to think our wondrous city of bridges was losing its touch. But Figure brought it hard and tonight the epic arrival of the HARD tour arrives to rock the Roseland Theater with the likes of Digitalism, GESAFFELSTEIN, and one of my favorite duos, Jack Beats. So if you aren't amped up and ready to go nuts, start preparing.

So in honor of my newly restored belief in our cause, I'd thought I'd hook you all up with the new single from The M Machine, a San Fransisco duo who put out a crazy awesome teaser video I spoke of long ago. I was excited to hear what these boys were bringing to the table and "Trafalgar" does not disappoint. What we have hear is an incredibly well produced track that runs a little long (6:00) but drops into some of the best dark, grinding synths and epically constructed beats that would put a Dada Life song to shame. It doesn't have the hard edge that an Ikki song or Q.G. track would provide, but it's got those long melodies combined with awesome sounds that I miss from when Danger used to drop tracks. It's worth a listen for sure, so check it out below and if you like it, it's free on Facebook. Party on pretty people.

So after an eventful week here in Portland, two of TCHNCRCY's favorite dub producers showed up to absolutely destroy FX in the downtown area of our wonderful city this past Thursday. Honestly I haven't seen a show like that in quite some time. Ajapai came on ripping the airwaves up with the crushers we've all come to know and love. When "Brain" came on, the place nearly lost its mind. And then came Figure. If you haven't heard his release Monsters of Drumstep, do yourself the courtesy of checking it out right now. "Zombies" and "Frankenstein" will knock some sense in you. Both were present in Figure's set along with, get this, an Oasis song. And not just any Oasis track, it was straight up "Wonderwall". A daunting challenge for anyone to cleanly work into a set but goddamn if he didn't pull if off. And that brings me to the purpose of this post. Fucking go see Figure. If you live in Canada you should be stoked because the man himself is playing a Summer tour through the end of August, hitting major cities across the country. Go check out the shows he's got lined up. And while you're marking it down on your calendar's check out this epic track Figure just pieced together with Cas One, a sick MC. Surprisingly melodic while keeping it still grimy.

An added extra from the past show is our meeting with Shylok and Lando, two Portland Dj's that have been spinning some epically well done dub, drumstep, and D'n'B for quite some time. Q.G. (Quentin Gauthier) put a Soundcloud comment on 99i's new remix for his awesome new song Razor. The comment (see below), read: "Dude FUCK YOU. Are you really from Canada?" It made me laugh really hard at 4am cause it's so fucking true. How does someone from the East Coast of Canada produce such amazing and interesting House music with that full on French Touch sound. I guess having friends like Q.G. and The Phantoms Revenge doesn't hurt. All I know that when the sun is out in the summer the is nothing I would rather listen to than some super chopped up House. This Summer Promo Pack definitely offers a fresh new flavor of that very established sound that was once exclusively French.

What the fuck is a Jelle Boon?

I got two burning question in my mind at 3:00AM, what is a Jelle Boon and how do European youngsters make such good music. Jelle Boon is a crazy talented 16 year old from the Netherlands. Yes, he can't even legally drive or pay income tax but he can drive a bassline better than most double his age and he sure knows how to pay the electrobill :). Fucking incredible, wether it was Telmini destroying dancefloors at 17, then RETZ dropping bombs like Initiate at 16 and then Clouds consisting of two 11 year olds (which I still don't actually believe) or Surkin signing with Institubes at 12... or was it 21, I couldn't tell from the photos (just kidding, love u Surkin). I think we should ban the continent of Europe from producing Electro and House. They are just too fucking good at it, it's unfair.

This duo made up of Rémi Buriez and Jonathan Pennel have inked a few deals primarily with Shax Tracks, the record label owned and run by Vatican producer Shax. And this makes a lot of sense, if you are fans of the Italian/Vatican sound then you NEED to know the Whoppers. Grab their amazing track Esorcista below, if it doesn't remind you of You Killing Me, Shax or The Boomzers in some way, I'd be very confused. This may be old news to most of yall but I finally got around to listening to the Stereoheroes' new EP "Exiles" out on Freakz Me Out Records and it straight crushes. It's particularly epic in regards to the fact that I haven't heard anything like this stuff from these boys since I first got into them. Regardless of that, this EP is chock full of songs that will push people off the ground and something I couldn't just let slip by. All the originals are tight with Nighthawk and Longshot putting it down hard enough to make them my favorite tracks of the whole release. This is not to say that Blatta & Inesha's touch on Nighthawk or Le Castle Vania's remix of Wildchild should be ignored. And that's the best part of this EP: It's all good. So check it out below. They put the whole thing up on soundcloud for preview before you go on over to Beatport to pick it up, which I recommend you do. Dropping these tracks in a set will make people go fucking nuts.

Hell Yeah, Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo is back with a dirty little remix of Somthing A La Mode's "Versailles No Bara". I don't know if it has any connection with the Japanesse anime Versailles No Bara or in english The Rose of Versailles, but the vocals are by Rinko Kikuchi, who I would assume is Japanese. I do know however that the song bangs! Definitely Punk Rock Disco. Check it out below.

Even though London, Ontario's Deadlights might wear awesome masks, leather jackets and produce devastatingly dirty electro/step, I guarantee there is no pun intended by posting a teaser of their fantastic new remix of King Kornelius' Regicide below Sir Bob Cornelius' new track.
I love Deadlights, they've got an awesome sound that's part dirty electro thrash and part evil dubstep. I got big expectations for this young Canadian duo in the future, sick sound plus fucking awesome masks. Hey, I think their Canada's answer to Bloody Beetroots or at least Cyberpunkers... Check em out.

Drivepilot - Ruthless EP

Drivepilot AKA Nick Edwards recently dropped his third EP, Ruthless, and as expected it is unbelievably massive. I loved the first two Drivepilot EPs (Savages & Fuck Yeah) like children but this third EP is virtually flawless. The title track Ruthless is a chilling electro/step banger that could make any dance-floor go mad, from diehard death electro-thrash lovers to moon-boot rocking candy ravers. Also, the vocals in Ruthless are amazing, fuck its DFA1979 meets "ruthless" Electro/step. Regrets is an absolute must for those who are fans of the bangin' electro/house genre, combining vocal chops hip hop samples and scratches, erie string sections, and bangin electro drops. Devils in Milan is probably my favorite Drivepilot track of all time, you hear the spine tingling piano lead or the bassline and your like, holy shit, new Justice but then the drop comes and you know it can't be anyone but Drivepilot. Halo and GSM are electro magic and definitely shouldn't be missed either.

Angst is the Debut EP from french electro/house hero The Toxic Avenger. This album is fantastic, demonstrating both Toxic Avenger's bangin' side and his more electo/pop/hop collaborations. I love The Toxic Avenger is a legend and highly recommend you grab full LP.
I know Drivepilot shares my love for The Toxic Avenger, as me and Nick both agree that The Toxic Avenger's remix of Bring Me The Horizon's Death Breath is one of the best tracks ever! Also, Drivepilot just dropped an enormous remix of Angst Two. Download it below, Phenomenal!

Nero's Dubstep Symphony

The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra presents Nero's Dubstep Symphony, a one in a lifetime collaboration between the dubstep giant Nero and Composer/Conductor Joe Duddell. This collaboration kicks off Dubstep Week on BBC Radio 1Xtra. It is a very interesting project and I recommend you check it out, after all it is always intriguing to hear what comes out from the collaboration between musicians of such different backgrounds (remember Metallica & the San Francisco Symphony?). Perhaps it is not the heaviest, or the most appealing for classical music fans, but give it a shot it was definitely a well prepared musical arrangement. New Pelussje: Royal Rumble EP

It has been a while since we posted on the Italian duo, Pelussje. The pair has apparently been busy in the studio, because recently they have put up some high quality material. More specifically, they have put out an EP titled "Royal Rumble" through Tunz/Tunz Records, a Milan based record label we will keep our ears on from now on. Show Review: The Magic 8-Ball Tour/A-trak @ BRANX (Portland, OR)

This past Friday the 13th was a great night in Portland. That is of course, if you decided to spend it at the BRANX. At some point I would have been skeptical of seeing a show I knew would be crowded at the BRANX, however, the newly remodeled and expanded venue was perfect, with new lights and sound systems, and an extra bar. I definitely see myself going back there and I also see more good artists choosing this over other larger venues in Portland. The Magic 8-Ball tour headlining A-TRAK came through PDX that night and it rocked the rose city.The tour is over now and I am sure that everybody raged in every city, but PDX must be a close contender for the top, with people in the dance floor past 3 a.m dancing to an extra long set courtesy of A-Trak.

We got there just in time to catch The Gaslamp Killer's set, which was one of the most energetic performances I have see in the Pacific North West. With two tables, a mic, and an iPad on stage the LA based DJ/Producer gave a performance that got the audience rowdy and ready to push agains the stage all night. Check out some pics taken during his set, this guy has some crazy eyes going some times which go perfectly with his stage persona (that is a compliment in this pages by the way).

Even though it was surprisingly short and some people that went out for a cigarette or back to the bar to get proper refreshments might have missed more than half, we got to see the set and we can truly say that Melisa Young might just have as much energy, if not more than Gaslamp Killer. For the relief of those that missed her performance Kid Sister jumped right back on stage to perform Do! Do! Do! with A-Trak on the tables (Orignal Carte Blanche track), needless to say it was phenomenal.

Finally, it was the time for A-Trak, who opened with one of the BEST remixes I have ever heard, I am talking of course of Boys Noize's Oh! (A-Trak Remix). Of course his playlist included some Duck Sauce as well as his killer Yeah Yeah Yeahs' 'Heads Will Roll' Remix. Obviously throughout his set A-Trak showcased his mixing and scratching skills, which always make for a more interesting DJ set. Like I mentioned earlier the set went over 3 hours, so I can't really give you a detailed playlist, but I can tell you that it was a diverse/engaging/provocative set that had me on my feet the whole night.

We even got to see the Gaslamp Killer get up on stage and DJ next to A-Trak!

Props to Cornerstone Promotions for doing a great job promoting this event and letting us help cover the Portland date of the tour, we hope this opportunity repeats itself! It was definitely a memorable night and we look forward to see more shows like this in Portland.

Flammenwerfer, a.k.a. Ethan Young, is a fresh new producer from LA we highly recommend you check out. He has recently finished his first two original tracks and they are true bangers. It is always nice to hear a new talented artist put out great tracks that reminds us that it is not all about dubstep and that there is a reason why we love labels like Mako Records.

Flammenwerfer is not signed yet, but that is sure to change if he his producing music of this quality. In the mean time, we get to post the 320s and share them with all the music junkies out there.

A-Trak Returns to Portland

Despite its size Portland has seen some of the biggest names in Electro; the Beetroots, MSTRKRFT, Justice, and the list goes on. This Friday the 13th Portlanders will once again be treated to a performance by a heavy weight of electronic music: A-Trak. Everybody in Portland should be excited about this show, which as if it was not enough, will feature Kid Sister and The Gaslamp Killer. Portland has seen A-trak back in 2009, and this Friday he is coming to pretty much the same establishment: The Rotture/ Branx. I am sure Portlanders will make this date of the Magic 8-Ball Tour remarkable.

A 90's turntablism wiz kid, a tour DJ for Kanye, an acclaimed remixer, and recently the mastermind behind the Duck Sauce phenomenon, A-Trak's performance will be nothing short of incredible... not to mentioned that it comes with two huge acts I would pay to go to see individually.

Proxy protegé Marseille brings the raw ghetto insanity of Russia to the people. It's got more WOOs and bleeps than the rest of the remixes combined. We counted.
Finally, Turbo Scottish young guns Clouds rough out a grinding, deep-fried bass-trap belter. It momentarily relents and teases the Rhodes, then it's right back to pitiless face-mashing for these eleven-year-old prodigies.
Gesaffelstein, the next big French techno star, white-hot off his new Conspiracy EP, has turned in an absolute god-hammer. The Turbo office has been flooded with requests for advance copies. And we've flooded other people's offices with straight-up "NO"s.
Clouds, Sound of Stereo, Marsellie, Light Year and more... Fucking Awesome! My only question or concern about Turbo 100, Where is the Proxy?

Parisian Producer Gesaffelstein is all set to release his new EP Conspiracy Pt. 1. Even though Turbo's 100th might be packed full of big names including Gesaffelstein, #99 should definitely not be glossed over. Conspiracy Pt. 1 is Gesaffelstein's second EP on Turbo and it is so much better than the debut, Variations EP. Variations was interesting but Conspiracy is amazing. I highly recommend that check out Hatred down below and grab the whole EP when it drops on April 25th here.

Blaster (a.k.a. Guillaume Cloutouis) is a 22 year old french producer that doesn't hesitate to make his tracks as hard as possible. If you are a fan of Q.G., then these tracks are for you. Blaster's Cybertron EP, released on the very young Touché Records (BvD & Hypethembeats), is a banger to say the least, and not to mention his most polished work to date.

The EP includes two tracks: Cybertron and Chainsaw, with remixes by K.OH!, Dead Cat Bounce and many others (as well as some Transformers samples). Check out my favorite tracks below and definitely buy the EP over HERE.
