I just watched this movie tonight. It comes out on DVD November 17, so watch for it. I enjoyed this movie. It is about a father and son, but not your typical cliche movie. Justin Timberlake stars as Carlton Garret who goes to find his estranged father/baseball legend Kyle Garret, played by Jeff Bridges. He brings along his ex-girlfriend Lucy for the trip and he brings all the problems in his life. His mom is in the hospital waiting for heart surgery, but will not go in until she sees her ex-husband.
The movie is about Carlton's attempt to get his father to come back to Texas to see her after he finds him in Ohio. Of course they face problems along the way. You learn some about their relationship as well as his relationship with his ex-girlfriend. After airport troubles they end up taking to the open road in a rented red Hummer. I really enjoyed this movie. With only a few main characters the story line is developed well. At the end of the trip they do come up with some answers to their problems. I would recommend this if you are looking for a heart warming comedy/drama. Overall, a pretty good movie.

Hitchcock was able to do a great deal of portraying of facts and emotions through the actions of his actors and cut down on the amount of title cards needed to project dialog. That’s good. But Hitchcock had little passion for the project from the beginning and was contractually bound to do it resulting in a moderately drab film. That’s bad.

The opening trial sequence was able to cut back and forth between the court room and the back story almost seamlessly and was very well done. That’s good. But the film took a screeching halt after that and we never really cared what happened to anyone from then on out. That’s bad.

SYNOPSIS

Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) is an upstanding family man whose wife and daughter are brutally murdered during a home invasion. When the killers are caught, Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), a hotshot young Philadelphia prosecutor, is assigned to the case. Over his objections, Nick is forced by his boss to offer one of the suspects a light sentence in exchange for testifying against his accomplice. Fast forward ten years. Max, a rambunctious and sensitive boy feels misunderstood at home and escapes to where the Wild Things are. He lands on an island where he meets mysterious and strange creatures whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions. The Wild Things desperately long for a leader to guide them, just as Max longs for a kingdom to rule. When Max is crowned king, he promises to create a place where everyone will be happy. Max soon finds, though, that ruling his kingdom is not so easy and his relationships there prove to be more complicated than he originally thought.

When troubled teen Michael returns home after a year at military school, he finds his mother, Susan, in love and his soon-to-be stepfather, David, has moved into their home. David says he wants them to become the perfect family. But as they get to know each other, Michael quickly becomes convinced that David himself is far from perfect. Trying to verify what he knows of David's past, Michael finds things that don't add up. As strange events and David's bursts of malevolence become more frequent, Michael tells his mother and girlfriend of his suspicions, but they just think he's being paranoid. Eventually, as Michael searches for proof that his suspicions are well-founded, cracks begin to show in David's perfect facade and it becomes apparent he will stop at nothing to keep his secrets. For David has a history of trying to create the perfect family. And each time, when it becomes apparent that perfection is impossible, David has a terrifying way of clearing the slate and starting over.
