I'm Back(finally).

Ugh, I'm back. Well it has been a hectic week, exams 'n all. Anyway, I did well and now I am back to import more of my(rather arrogant) comic book wisdom. My exams finished Friday and I had to work on saturday but sunday was great. Forbidden Planet was okay, no change in diplay but still interesting to go to. I am now saving up for a bust, so if anyone has any idea as to what bust I should buy, tweet to me, or comment etc.

I have given up on Green Lantern Corps, it's too plain. And well... corny. I'm now up to date from buying all five issues of the regular Green Lantern. It's good, we see sinestro as a Green Lanter and how issue three's front cover so aptly presents it "The Sinestro Corps' enemy is Sinestro himself." It is thrilling, I was planning to stretch out the pleasure of reading them. But when I read one, I had to read the next one. As good as Scarlet Spider? Maybe not- Maybe not, yet.

Scarlet Spider #1

Hi all.
Today I'm going to be talking a little about the new comic book series "Scarlet Spider". This series, in my opinion is set to be one of Marvel's best exploits. Seriously, who doesn't love Kaine saving an oldy lady crossing the road, subsequently blowing up the car and calling her a bitch?! I love how they've blended the will to do good with the nature to do evil. How they have portrayed Kaine's mixed personality and current behaviour with his history. 10/10, truly. It's truly mindblowing and I definately recommend to give this series a try.

The New 52 initiative(continued).

Hi all. Today I'm gonna be updating the new 52. Truthfully, I think some of the titles are ridiculouse. Com' on, "Ressurection Man", "Static Shock"?! I mean com' on. Thankfully, in my opinion some of the more rediculous titles are being replaced. DC have recently announced a "second wave" of titles. They are replacing six titles(due to end in April) with new ones. They're replacing: with:
Black Hawkes.                                             Batman Incorporated.
Hawk and Dove.                                          Earth 2.
Men of War.                                                Worlds Finest.
Mr Terrific.                                                   Dial H.
O.M.A.C.                                                    G.I. Combat.
Static Shock.                                                The Ravagers.

Make of this what you will, aside from perhaps "G.I. Combat", these look relatively decent. The current standard of the New 52. Wow! I just read Green Lantern Corps. 1,2 and 3. It was mind blowing. They have set the bar high and lets hope they keep it up. For more info click here. This blog is called "A Comic Book Blog". The last movies ever(2012 movie list)!!!

Hi all. Today I'm gonna talk a little about the upcoming Marvel and dc movies. Obviously these movies are all based on vaious comic books but here we go. So far this year we have three movies lined up for release from Marvel. Ghost Rider:Spirit of Vengeance(17th feb.), The Avengers(4th May 2012) and The Amazing Spider Man(3rd July 2012). All three of the movies look great, escpecially The Avengers, which I see as a sequal to all these other movies(Thor, Iron man etc.) The trailers are there below. Feel free to comment and subscribe etc.

WitchBlade no.500 wizard special edition and Divine Right 1/2 Wizard special Edition.

As I was looking through one of my old long boxes I stumbled across a couple of old comic books I bought at a charity shop. WitchBlade no. 500 premium edition(with seal and certificate of authenticity) and Divine Rights no. 1/2 Wizard Special Edition(with seal and certificate of authenticity. They were both only availabe through Wizards: The comics magazine no.84 and no.80 respectively. See left and right.

Now why I'm writing this is I have no idea of the value of these comic books, they're both in mint/near mint condition and this frustrates me. Clawing and itching at the edge of my mind. I guess it'd cos they're old there values are not on the internet. Well I'm just gonna hit the comic book stores and see what I can find out. If you guys know about either of these comic books please feel free to leave a comment.

Well, recently I ordered quite a few comic books from the internet. Most have arrived from various ebay sellers. Mainly FF #'s 3/5/6/ now, issues 7/8/10 haven't even been dispatched yet. What's the moral of the story I her you say, well the morale is. Buy your comic books in store!

Scarlet Spider. Wait, "Scarlet?!"

Hi all. Today I'm gonna be talking a little about Scarlet Spider. Scarlet Spider started out as a two part story featuring a new spider man when Peter Parker retires in 1995(I think).

Now, Scarlet Spider is back with his very own comic book series. Scarlet Spider number one was released this week, a comic book I intend to buy and thoroughly enjoy. Recently we have seen Kaine(Aka Scarlet Spider) in the series Spider Island. Where he saves new York city from becoming a giant spider nest. Anyway, this series begins with him in Texas on the run. In the words of James Harvey from toonzone.net(www.toonzone.net), "He has to stop them the only way he knows how-Violently!" As well as picking up on the FF(future foundations, one of my favourites!) story line later on I will definately be following this story line.

The New 52.

I hear everyone asking, what this new 52 thing about. Well let me tell you...
DC has cancelled and/or rebooted some of their major titles "New 52" series. They also have changed there publishing format, so now they're also available as e-books. The new 52 series currently holds six titles. Justice league, Batman, Super Man and Green Lantern as well as DC online universe.

The New 52 Justice League pretty much is the same as before.

Batman's timeline also pretty much remains in tact. All the Robins are accounted for except Stephanie Brown and Bruce Wayne seems to be the only batman again.

Superman Titles now also feature the familly, Super Girl, Super Boy etc. The marriage between Superman and Lois Lane also never happened.

The Green Lantern line is unchanged. The new story line builds up on the aftermath of the War of the Green Lanterns and Sinestro rejoins the Green Lanterns, taking Hal Jordans ring.

That's it. Is this a good or bad thing, well depends how you look at it. I guess DC did it because the story lines became to mixed, there were too many cross overs etc. and it became confusing for new readers. Now there gamble has paid off, pre-order numbers of each title is 100,000 plus. Amazing.

Comic Book Collecting.

Hello, in this blog today I'm going to be talking about comic book collecting. Specifically what kind of collectors there are and if you want, how to start a collection of your own. Okay, so let's begin.
There are four types of collectors; The Reader, The Collector, The Investor and The Speculator.

Let's talk a little about the reader. The reader is your typical comic book guy. He(or she) will by a comic book souly for the purpose of the story it tells. As Sheldon from Big Bang Theory says "Comic books nerdy?! They combine the 32,000 thousand year old art of drawing with the 9000 year old art of writing to produce a tale best of both worlds!" Or something like that.

Now the collector is what we typically class as the collector(if that makes sense). This is a reader who gets more of a buzz from collecting rare comic books, or completing series and collections.

The Investor is a collector who buys comic books because they have a high value(or soon will have high value). Generally to pride themselves on valuable collections.

Finally, the Speculator is a collector who buys a comic book simply to re sell it for a profit.
