Today it was soooo cold, damp and rainy!

I'm so glad we had the fire going at the shop.

It was a slow day due to the weather, but the customers enjoyed the toasty time to warm up, if only for a bit!

Last week was just a bluuuuuuuurrrrrr and having to say goodbye to my 99.9999999 yr old Aunt Leah didn't help clear things up much.

Seeing Family and Friends helped ease the pain of loosing someone that I wasn't ready to let go of quite yet.

Going thru some of her stuff.....I saw her standard footwear and it instantly brought a smile to my face.

I mean honestly....who wouldn't love to see Aunt Leah walk'n up to the PEARLY GATES sport'n these babies!

Here is hope'n that this week is a little more clear.....

My Aunt Leah, who was going to have her 100th Birthday on January 19th passed away.....it saddens me, but I know that she had a beautiful long life and I guess she decided a PAR-TA in Heaven to celebrate 100 years would be better than any party down here!

2003 Cypress Gardens

In 2003 I took my Aunt Leah to Florida to visit my Mom & Dad for her Birthday....when she turned 91....and we had a BLAST! She told story after story and it was a week + that I will never forget!

She asked us if we would take her to Disney if she bought the tickets....who would tell her NO! But we bought the tickets and took her for her 1st trip to Disney. Little did we know that we would be closing the park down that night....she wanted to stay til the end!

We took her to see the Space Shuttle take off....

and put her feet in the sand at the beach...

Ate some Birthday Cake...

Even did a little site-seeing...

Aunt Leah being the Queen of Strawberry...if only for a day!

If only I would know the things that she forgot! She was spry and witty. She never learned how to drive but could take you a million miles away with her stories.

In 1939 she and some others drove from Missouri all the way to NYC for the Worlds Fair. It took them a week to drive there. CAN YOU IMAGINE....that was BOLD, BRAVE and ADVENTUROUS.

She was married to my Grandma's brother and the 4 of them used to have so much fun together. Great memories of all of them are just tucked away in my heart!

She has been widowed since the early 1980's and had lived all alone in her home until 2008 I think...she was a very healthy lady up until the past year....and so thankful for that!

I went to visit her this past Friday night...and I am so very glad that I did. The hospice people had come in and moved her room around to reposition her bed to better help her...and they had to remove her TV from her room in order to make the new arrangement work. She said "oh well, the Cardinals are not playing baseball anymore so there isn't anything good on TV anyhow!"

This week on her 100th birthday we will be celebrating...maybe in a funeral home, but we are going to have St Louis Cardinal Birthday cake in her honor. She didn't quite make it to 100 yrs old....but it is close enough for me!

I know that when she got to heaven....her husband was waiting to her with a hug and a kiss. Then my Grandma & Grandpa were right behind him ready to take her money at play'n rummy!

Heading home, driving thru the Southern States.....I'm in a foggy haze. The weather is a beautiful 58 degrees and I'm just riding along, diet coke in hand and thinking about the crazy schedule of mine that is nip'n at my heels.

Heading home to do a little Christmas with some special little people, and finish off some 2011 biz.

Here's to a couple more slow lazy days before it gets crazy!

JANUARY...

I took my goods to Round Top Texas for the Winter Antique Show at the Big Red Barn.

Enjoyed time with some fellow Junk'n peeps.

Took Sadie Girl as usual....and visited her favorite Vet in Texas about her "BAD TOE"

Back at the shop preparing for the shows...

Then back to my old stomp'n grounds to do a little late Christmas with my BFF Deb.

FEBRUARY...

We had a little SNOW

Poor Sadie Girl and her BAD TOE...

I tried my hand at a little Heart of Country in Nashville, TN.

MARCH...

Sadie Girl just wasn't getting better, so we drove to Texas for a BIG step...the removal of her 14 yr old TOE...I had to leave her and head back to KENTUCKY :(

But about a week later, we drove back to Texas to get her.

Back at the shop getting ready to head back to Texas for Round Top Texas Antique Week!

Then I took my boots back, yet one more time, to Round Top Texas to frolic in the BLUE BONNETS.

APRIL...

Started the measuring process on my house.

MAY...

Took my WELLIES to Brimfield MA for a little Spring Fling!

JUNE...

Came back home to experience some REAL LIFE!

JULY...

Put a little sand between my toes.

AUGUST...

Construction.

SEPTEMBER...

Took my body & my rain boots back for a little FALL Brimfield MA.

Sadie Girl never knows where she will wake up ;-)

Then onto OHIO for a little Country Living Fair.

OCTOBER...

The dirty dishes and I even took the KITCHEN SINK back to Round Top Texas.

Then to ATLANTA for a little more Country Living...

Then I DRUG my TIRED BODY back to Kentucky to turn the BIG 4-0

NOVEMBER...

Trying to re-group and do some more construction.

DECEMBER...

Closed out 2011 making plans for 2012.

2011 had lots of important moments...looking back I've grown and learned some things about myself and somehow I MADE IT THROUGH!

Keeping in mind that in between all those awesome places are hundreds and thousands of miles, multiple States (sometimes in the same day) and lots of LOTS long hours of packing, unpacking, loading and unloading. But I can't imagine doing anything else! More importantly, I can not do it ALONE! It takes a small army! AND...my ARMY understands me...MOST OF TIME! :-)

CHEERS to having more LIFE to LIVE, over and above WORK in 2012!

AND...since I am the CEO of ME, I guess I am the only one that can make this happen!

Here is to an AWESOME 2012!

I grew up on a farm so loving barns is natural I think.

We used to play for hours in our barn.....dream up adventures, play hide and seek, tell secrets, climb on everything, and hide from our Moms ;-)

I've always wanted to own a big barn. I found this wonderful barn picture on Pinterest.....

Can you imagine owning this barn? I would live in that barn!

Bonus = it's already RED!

When I was a child growing up, my Mom always decorated our cedar Christmas tree with all RED lights. She was the only one I knew that did that.....I thought it was awesome!

Since my Mom and Dad are coming today to help celebrate Christmas with me for a few days, I thought this post was fitting.

It's been a pet peeve of mine for a while....so today I have decided I needed to put it out there and see if I could get some response. So here goes...

When people post pictures on their blogs, Facebook, twitter etc of their goods....displays of their merchandise, WhY-O-WhY is there always a handful of people who post a comment that reads something like "ooooh YUMMY, I wanna eat it up"! Seriously? that is just strange!

YUMMY....it should be used for other things.

But I've always said "when people buy my junk, and they get it home they can do whatever the he-- they want with it" ....so if some of them eat it up.....I hope they have enough Mylanta!

This week while I was in town getting supplies for the house, we went into a little strip mall place to eat at one of our favorite chicken wing places.

As we sat and dined, I noticed a steady stream of MEN going in and out of a tanning booth salon located just next door. It was alarming to me!

In the back of my mind I was secretly hope'n they were going in to get their girlfriends gift certificates for Christmas.

I mean honestly! While writing this post I thought of a few TAN men that instantly came to mind!

I believe as much as the next girl that even fat may look better TAN....but MEN in tanning booths is where I draw the line.

Yesterday I had the most scary USPS experience of my entire life.

It's no wonder why some tiny towns are gonna loose their post office. No technology. The little old lady who took my packages....scared me! She had a manual scale. I had to ask for a receipt. My packages might end up in Lord only knows where!

Hope my duct tape helps the mail carrier get them to their proper destination!

Had a little Christmas lunch with my BFF Debby the other day and as we munched down on our fresh strawberries, I remembered this sign I have.

It was a fun day.....it didn't last long enough....and we shouldn't wait til Christmas to come around to do it again! We decided that we were both spoiled and I decided I was high maintenance and we had a big laugh about it!

Here's to each of you out there having a Christmas lunch this season that is as much fun as this one was!

Is only 16 short days away! Amazing! Time has just flown by this year. I was walking in the shop the other day snapping some pictures and ran across this.

I just love this! Probably some of your grandmas made these. But.....I think they are way cooooool.

Old vintage jewelry, buttons and tid-bits in the shape of a tree. And a 1970's green punch bowl setting in front......don't forget the matching plastic ladle!
