Spanish Food Markets in Manchester

Today I visited the lovely St. Anne's Square in Manchester to visit their Spanish food and craft markets.

Due to the great weather we were having it seeing every photographer and our group was paying a visit. But, here you can find a range of jewellery, pottery, art, photography and more importantly food.

There were lots of authentic stands offering different types of sweets, breads and cake - along with a giant stand that is built that a traditional Spanish hut seelking big pots of piella and chorizo sausage (like a hot dog).

Seeing as I was with my friend we opted for both choices and decided to share. The piella was £4:00 a tray and the chorizo sausage (hot dog) was £2:50.

Every couple of months, you will always find a great 'themed market' in Manchesters St Ann's Square with the majority of the Summer markets being al fresco style cafes and bars that attract a range of visitors and tourists.

Elephant Trekking Trips in Thailand

For me Thailand was my first big travel adventure and it will always have a special place in my heart. For those of you who have visited Thailand, it is out of this world in terms of the atmosphere, the kindness of the locals and the stunning landscapes.

Whilst travelling around Koh Samui, before visiting Phuket, we decided that we would like to go on one of the famous elephant treks. There are so many treks to choose from, that you can book through your hotel reception or online, for us we booked this at our hostel/hotel reception for 850THB which is the equivalent to £18.00 or $28 * and it was for half a day as it was incorporated into a full day tour and our morning was spent at a waterfall.

Our tour was ran by Eco Tourism Koh Samui and we were picked up at our hostel/hotel at 8:00am in the morning. We were then taken to two little wooden huts in the Thai jungle, were we were greeted by two friendly brothers, who insisted we call them both Sam, who explained to us how they looked after the three elephants, what their names were and what their favourite fruits were.

After meeting the elephants and feeding them with some fruity treats, the elephants were saddled up and we climbed a little wooden ladder so that we could sit on the elephant - for anyone who has done this, it is soooo strange and overwhelming feeling to be sitting onto of a giant elephant – anyway, once we were on the elephant we then began I trek further into the jungle.

Guided on foot by the two Sams, we began trekking further into the Thai jungle and for the next 30 minutes we went through river streams, palm trees and muddy paths. The two Sams also stopped and let us have a great photo opportunity, were you could move out of the saddled seat to sit on the elephants neck – I was too much of a wimp to do this, however my travel partner in crime did and said it was amazing.

As we heading back to the elephant camp, we got to feed the elephants some more fruit after their trek and then watched them have a giant hose pipe bath which they seemed to love.

Overall this experience is one that I would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking to travel Thailand. The combination of beautiful Thai scenery and being with the elephants is such a peaceful and tranquil feeling.

Exploring Leper Island in Crete

If you choose Crete as your holiday destination, you may be dreaming of sandy beaches or warm Mediterranean waters.

And of course, you will find this in abundance on your visit, but you will also find plenty of other places of interest, and when it comes to places of interest, there is nothing like a leper colony is there?!

Yep, Crete has, or that should be had, its very own leper colony on the small island of Spinalonga and it is one of the top Crete attractions for tourists. So what can you expect to see on a visit here?

Getting There

If you decide that a visit to Spinalonga would be of interest, you will need to get to the northern village of Elounda, or failing that Agios Nikolaos or Plaka whereby it is possible to catch a boat over to the island.

If you combine a visit with a boat tour available from a local tour operator, you will get a number of additional extras which will heighten your enjoyment, often in the form of a free BBQ or alike.

If you visit during the off season, there may be no tour boats available, however if you ask around the harbour area you will find someone willing to take you as many people will have their own boats and will be happy to take you across.

What is there to see?

As mentioned, the island was, between the years 1903 and 1957, used as leper colony, whereby all of Crete’s and indeed Greece’s lepers were quarantined and was one of the last leper colonies in Europe.

Far from being a place where lepers were left to fend by themselves, there were by and large well cared for upon their arrival. You’ll be pleased to know that these days the island has more to offer than just grizzly details, the buildings are fantastic examples of local architecture.

There are no accommodation options on the island so it is only possible to take trips to the island for a few hours at a time, making it the ideal place for a day trip when on Crete holidays.

For those of you living or travelling in the UK at the moment, then you will know we have glorious sunshine that is rivaling some of Europe's hotter countries like Greece and Italy.

I have also noticed that there are a number of high-street brands out in full force to promote their fabulous bikini ranges for the summer months. I think you will all agree that when travelling to a warm climate, a good bikini is a must have item.

When taking a short (up to a month) travel adventure - where packing space is rather liberal - it is always a nice option to pack 5 or 6 different Bikinis. However, when taking a long travel adventure of +2 months, it is important to make these choices carefully. I recommend having a classic colour, floral print and a bright print.

Raqib Shaw & the UKs Best Art Galleries

Recently I was visiting one of my favourite places in Manchester... The Manchester Art Gallery which open 7 days a week and is free to all visitors.

They have held an I intriguing Alice in Wonderland-esque exhibition since February by an amazing artist called Raqib Shaw! An artist who is inspired by the classic artist pieces from the Asia and had incorporated them into Klimpt style paintings.

When watching his video, before viewing, he explains how his work is the combination of cheap paints, glass and rhinestones. Safe to say his work is truly breath taking.

The Best Art Galleries in the UK

For me the Manchester gallery is one of the best UK exhibits I've been to as it houses a variety of artwork and sculptures, including a dedicated space to works from Manchester artist L.S Lowry.

But when I think about it even more the UK definitely has a great selection of art galleries that mostly free to anyone visiting. Below is my top three:

Tate Modern in London

The Tate Modern is a free gallery located on the River Thames and London Eye near the Embankment tube stop. I have visited this gallery so many times, my most recent to see the David Hockney exhibition. It showcases some of the bed artwork from around the world.

Nottingham Contemporary Gallery

The Nottingham Contemporary Gallery is located in the heart of the city and is free for visitors. Open Tuesday through to Sunday, it houses some of classic and up and coming artists from exhibitions to films to family events, there is something for everyone.

Tate Modern in Liverpool

I love the Tate Galleries, especially the one on in Liverpool as it is the closest to me. This is a free gallery also and is found down on the Liverpool Docks.

What Type of Travel Insurance Do I Need For Backpacking?

I think that we can all agree that the dream of seeing a hidden temple or sun bathing on a luscious white beach is our main reasons for booking those flights and taking that travel adventure. However, the reality is that to follow this dream requires a lot of planning such your route, what to pack in your backpack and most importantly how to protect your items.

In a recent #girlstravel chat, we were all talking about being safe when travelling. We discussed things such as how to look out for pickpockets, how to hide your money and always to be aware of your surroundings, whilst still having a good time.

However for some of us, my self included, we have fallen victim to a pick pocket on our travels; which if you are unprepared can ruin your travel adventure. Therefore, it is important to make sure that as well as your money belts and padlocks, that you also have a good travel insurance policy in place.

Recently I began to think about all the different options there are on the market such as individual, annual or backpackers insurance?

So, I have decided to create a breakdown of the different types of travel insurance that is available to travellers. I hope you find it helpful.

What is Single Travel Insurance?

A travel adventure can also be a short term break or a long weekend away. If you want to discover new things, it doesn't always need to be months or years away. Single Travel Insurance is the best option for people who are travelling to a specific destination, such as Australia or New Zealand and can be for as long or as short as you need it.

However if you do decided to go another country, you will need to purchase additional insurance.

What is Annual Travel Insurance?

Annual travel insurance is a policy that is valid for a year long period and allows you to take multiple trips to different locations for one price. If you take lots of short term travel adventures then this policy is perfect for you as the majority of policies will cover you for up to 30 days per trip - however this may vary and it's best to check the terms and conditions of your policy.

Personally, if you are travelling for over 1 month or a gap year, it is best to opt for the backpackers insurance below.

What is Backpackers Insurance?

Backpackers travel insurance will cover any traveller who is going to be away from their home country for one extended trip and will be typically valid for 12 months. Another bonus to backpacker insurance is that it incorporates working abroad and a variety of sports and adventure activities that are popular when back packing.

When further into this, backpacker policies can vary from 90 days to 18 months, dependent on the policy terms and conditions.

Hummingbird Bakery in London

If you love all things cupcakes, pink and sweet then I recommend taking a trip to the popular Hummingbird Bakery in London.

I visited the Soho branch with my friends whilst visiting here and I have to say it is by far once of the best cupcake boutiques that I have been to.

With a large clear glass front and a tempting display of cupcakes in the window. You are welcomed by fuchsia and baby pink tiled floors and decor with splashes of cupcake pop art on the walls.

But more importantly, you are greeted with an array of cakes and cupcakes to full your hearts sugary desire. From red velvet to chocolate cupcakes to home made blueberry cheese cake and carrot cake - the choices were truly endless.

You will expect to pay around £3-£5 per item. But it is completely worth it for a travel treat. Me and my friend could not decide on which to order so we opted for the red velvet cupcake, a raspberry cheesecake brownie and two cups of tea. Which came to £11.50 all together.

Wanderlust Fashion: Light Summer Dress

When going on a holiday or a long travel adventure, taking ALL of your favourite pieces is virtually impossible due to space and weight restrictions.

However, we all know that packing that little summer dress can make you feel feminine and confident – especially if you have been travelling for a few days and not had the luxury to take a shower and refresh.

Beyonce is looking fab as she models for H&M's summer dress collection - of course we all look like this when travelling ;)

When I travel either short or long haul, I love to take light summer dresses with me. They are great to roll up tight and don’t take too much space up in your bag.

I tend to opt for inexpensive ones, usually I’ll go to Primark or New Look, so that if I need to (heaven forbid) I can leave it behind if I no longer have space or need to wear them.

As the summer approaches and travel ideas begin to spark, I am now on the look out for summer dresses that are not too expensive.

Recently I browsing Primark's new summer dress collection on their Facebook page and I was pleasantly surprised at their cute collection of summer dresses at an affordable price.

London Accommodation for Girls on a Budget

Recently I took a trip to London to visit a group of friends from university. We all try our best to meet up every few months in everyone’s home town and this time it was London.

Me and my friend were tasked with the job of finding some budget accommodation for us four girls close to the city center of London. Whilst looking around for hostels in London, I found three brilliant places that catered for the female audiences.

Clink Hostels

The thing that I love about the Clink Hostel is that as well as the standard dorms and private rooms they have a dedicated deluxe girl’s room which is perfect for hen parties or girls weekends to London.

Clink actually has two hostels, both located near Kings Cross and St Pancras rail way stations. Another interesting little fact that I found was that their Clink 78 hostel used to be an old court house where the pop punk band, The Clash, were tried.

Safe Stay Hostels

I have previously stayed at the Safe Stay hostel and it was a really nice and clean place with modern, bright furnishings (despite their location being a little questionable).

Located in Elephant and Castle, the Safe Stay hostel is a 10 minute walk to the underground stop of Elephant and Castle and you are a 5-10 minute tube ride away from the city center.

Out of the three budget accommodations in London that I have chosen, the Safe Stay hostel is the second most expensive, however it is also one of the newest, which may explain the cost in price.

Equity Point

Equity Point London is a new hostel/hotel which is situated across from London’s Hyde Park and close to Paddington train station.

Their aim has been to combine old and new London, with the outside being a Georgian style building and the inside is bright and vibrant colours.

Here you can also have a four bed female dorm room, however this is the most expensive out of the three recommended hostels

Whilst visiting friends and shopping in London, we took a trip into Liberty's and I happened to find myself in the accessories section.

Hidden London: Big Easy Crabshack Resturant

I have found my new favourite place to eat in London and its called Big Easy.

A surf and turf, also known as steak and seafood restaurant located on Kings Road in the Chelsea district.

When walking up to the restaurant you are greeted by a vibrant atmosphere of neon red signs and vintage distressed woods.

The menu offers a range of amazing fresh seafood and meat for a variety of prices.

Each night also offers a meal deal promotion and our night was all you can eat fajitas (taken upon by two guys in our group) which were a combination of steak, chicken and luscious seafood, plus a drink for £14.95 - If you're a seafood but like me I also recommend the deep fried jumbo prawns.

When inside, you are seated up or downstairs - either doesn't really matter as the atmosphere is so vibrant and fun!

From the red gingham table clothes to the old American road signs on the wall to the fish nets hung from the ceiling with coloured lights entwined This place is like a UK Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant in America!

Personally, I have never been to Bubba Gump Shrimp (it's on my travel list, trust me) but if you're visiting London then this place is a must visit!

From the kooky deep south-esque American decor to their fun live bands singing American classics. I can not recommend this place enough!

How to Pack Your Backpack For Travelling

I know this may sound like a simple concept. Grab some stuff, pack it into a backpack and off you go. Right? ... Wrong.

When it comes to packing your backpack to go off on a travelling adventure, this is somewhat more of a tactical approach and something that I was recently discussing with a few of my fellow travel friends over on Twitter. (@EatTravelLove)

The first thing I like to do (which is a little OCD) is to get a pile of clothing, similar to the example shown below, and see how many outfits I can make using my basic 'must have' items. Gradually adding a few more pieces until I can make enough outfits for the time I am going travelling.

For example, on our great adventure to South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand, I took a total of 22 items of clothing and could make 90 different outfits with them, before having to wear the same thing twice - these simple things when travelling can make a big difference to your trip.

There are many different opinions and views on how to pack a backpack for travelling. The best way I have found, and many backpack retailers agree, is to lay your backpack flat on the floor and open everything up.

Next, take the piles of clothes that you have decided to take with you and roll them into a small sausage shape. This will allow you to compact more of your clothes into your backpack and make room for other items.

However when looking around YouTube, I have found some helpful videos from other travel ladies.

Once your backpack is filled with all of your contents, it is crucial that you fit you backpack to your body shape - otherwise you strain and may even injure your back when travelling around.

For us ladies, our frames tend to naturally be smaller on our upper body (shoulders) and bigger on our lower body (hips) - so it is important that the majority the weight we carry is on our hips. Where as for guys this is the opposite way around.

Please note that it is also personal preference on when you fit your backpack - if you choose to do this before or after packing your backpack. However, for me I find that it is better to fit your backpack once you have the correct weight of all your travel items.

5 Free Museums & Galleries to visit in NYC

New York, New Yorkkkkkkkkkk....sorry I had to.

Lately I have been thinking about taking a trip to the fabulous New York City (as I have actually never been #travelshame).

Whilst researching into what to do and see in New York, I am finding a lot of really cool and interesting museums and art galleries to visit. So, I thought it would be cool to gather a list of the 5 free museums to visit in NYC.

Museum of Modern Art (MoMa)

Ok, so this one isn't entirely free, unless you go on a "Free Fridays", however if you're an art fanatic like me, you will make the time to pay a visit to the amazing MoMA in NYC.

Located on 11 West 53 Street, Manhattan - tickets cannot be purchased in advance and this weekly event is said to attract a large group of people, so be sure to get there on time. For more information visit www.moma.org.

New York City Hall

The New York City Hall has been home to the government since 1812 (and let's not forget Carrie and Big's wedding in the Sex and they City Movie hehe). Located opposite the Brooklyn Bridge in Lower Manhattan, visiting this beautiful historic building you will see the stunning cupola-topped marble hall and visit where Abraham Lincoln's coffin briefly lay in 1865.

National Museum of the American Indian

Delving into the heritage and history of the American people, the National Museum of the American Indian is located off Battery Park and the historic Bowling Green. Seeing as it's also close to the Statue of Liberty, this free museum often gets missed out by locals and tourists.

NYC Central Park

Yes, I know. Of course a park is free. But with Central Park is a park like no other. Not only is it featured in numerous Hollywood movies, but Central Park is full of free events, statues (such as the giant bronze Alice in Wonderland statue) and beautiful sites such as the Strawberry Fields which is located near the beautiful John Lennon 'Imagine' mosaic (see the picture above).

NYC Federal Reserve Bank

Tours around the Federal Reserve Bank in NYC operate six times a day, between Monday to Friday. If you're wanting to swim in gold coins like Scrooge McDuck (this is a joke) at the Federal Reserve Bank in New York then you need to book a week ahead - this is not a joke. A tour around this high security volt, gets booked up rather quickly.

Wanderlust Fashion: April Showers

The month of April is stereo-typically known as being rather rainy in the UK. However, if the recent crazy weather events are anything to go by, then the chances are it will be glorious sunshine and not a hint of rain.

However, that doesn't mean that it's not a perfect opportunity to stock up on the trusty rain coat or also known to some people as a pack-a-mac. From a festival weekend to a year long travel adventure, I would now count a rain coat,mac whatever you want to call it, as one of my travel essentials.

On my first ever travel adventure my mum told me I would need a trusty "pack-a-mac" whilst visiting Europe and reluctantly I took her advice and packed her bright red one from Debenhams. Sure enough, by the time I had reached Berlin, it came in handy, if not for an extra layer, but certainly for keeping me dry on a rainy day visit to the Brandenburg Gate.

Whilst travelling around New Zealand, I thought to myself...it's going to be beautiful weather, surely I won't need a rain coat...right? Wrong again. This time I invested in a trusty New Zealand All Blacks rain coat (when in Rome and all that).

My point is, any travel adventure, big or small, I have always needed a trusty rain coat. Like the one I invested in for last years rainy Parklife Music Festival in Manchester.

The thing is, they are so small and compact, that they can save you from a rainy shower in Paris or a monsoon in Thailand (well kind of).

So I have decided to create another wanderlust fashion board on some of this seasons trusty rain macs, which I hope you enjoy!

From pastels, to floral to bright patent rain macs, the high-street currently has a great range of rain macs to suit everyone's tastes and budgets. Personally, I would say that a rain mac is a great investment to make for any travel adventure.

When it comes to short trips away, one must travel lighter than they would actually like to. If you are taking only hand luggage and you are leaving your trusty suitcase at home, packing becomes more of a game of Tetris than a packing-everything-I-own frenzy. This week I am taking a trip to Berlin with a friend for a two day break and as we hope to arrive there a la backpacker, we have decided to travel in the lightest way possible. For me that means a backpack that I usually take to the gym, one pair of clothes, 2 pairs of shoes (including the ones I'm wearing) and a bag of makeup and toiletries. Yet, no longer can someone idly stuff their makeup bag into their hang luggage and get away it. Routines and procedures at airports now mean that everything containing liquid must be scooped away into a clear plastic bag, so taking your beautiful Cath Kidston makeup bag is a thing of the past. For this reason, the makeup needs to travel light too, and as a beauty blogger at heart this is why I am here. To share with you a beauty guide for a short trip away. If you too are going away on a backpacking holiday or hand luggage only weekend and cannot afford to carry all of your YSL, Chanel and Benefit compacts with you, then do not fear as there are other solutions and other products that you can carry along for the ride. You need to travel compact and light without missing any of your staple goodies.

For washing products, take miniatures of everything you can, utilising empty bottles wherever possible. The tiny sets from the Body shop are ideal, and I am taking a small mango shower gel, a cleanser, toner and a face wash tucked away inside the used up bliss bottle. You of course need a few makeup pads as you dont want to be scrubbing at your eyes with toilet paper. Then I found a tiny little deodorant perfect for a small break away. If you pack a toothbrush and toothpaste, that is everything for feeling clean sorted.

When it comes to makeup, it all depends on your activites. If you will be going walking, running or doing energetic activities, you obviously need to wear makeup that will stay put all day and that is fairly basic. If you are going to be going to a party or evening out as I am, you will need to take products that can form both everyday and nighttime looks. This is why I ended up taking a few different products with me. Obviously you need the staples such as mascara, moisturiser, a foundation and a concealer. I also took a tiny sample size of my Nars Sheer Glow foundation with me for the daytime. I packed a travel size Nars highlighter in copacabana, Topshop lip pencil, Mac Eye kohl and Pixi liquid eyeliner and Body Shop eyebrow gel. All of these products are amazing and I trust them to do a brilliant job. These products are not too much but just enough to create a full evening make up look.

After all of the liquid products are dealt with and packed away into little travel bags, there are a few extra products to pack. Make sure you pack one of everything you need but things that can work for day or night depending on how much you apply. A bronzer of course, my favourite being the Nars Laguna Bronzer. A blush, this one being Mac Rosy Outlook, a setting powder by Shiseido and the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette to work as an eyebrow colour, eyeshadow and highlighter. I also snook in the Urban Decay Ammo 2 palette to give me a choice of colours for the evening. This palette has an amazing selection of best selling shades and can give me a bit more inspiration for the night. After packing a set of brushes, you are all set. I have packed a Real Techniques large powder brush for bronzer, RT contour brush for my cheek hollows, Mac blush brush for blush and the expert face brush by RT for foundation. I have also packed an Clinique eyebrow brush and two Mac eyeshadow brushes so I can mix colours easily. The final piece and most important for me are the eyelash curlers.All of this will fit into three small bags and with the other items I mentioned, should squeeze nicely into a backpack. St Patricks Day Parade

Most people I meet or know have some form of Irish heritage...

For me it's my grandma, who up until the age of 14, lived in a seaside town called Port Rush in Ireland with her brothers and my great Grandma Tilly (Matilda).

One day they decided to move as a family over to England for a better life. And so my great grandma and her sister Peggy, packed up their families belongings, took boat over to Liverpool and then made their way to start a life in the Midlands.

Now every year me and my family celebrate St Patrick's Day! This year I visited the Manchester Irish Festival and Parade.

The atmosphere is always so warm and welcoming as people gather to watch the emerald greens and vibrant oranges pass through the city.

Starting at the Irish Heritage Centre and ending in a festival at the Manchester Town hall, this parade is certainly one to watch!

After seeing her review places around the world and their best shopping locations, it got me to thinking about how I should start talking about travel fashion for girls.

So I have decided to start a series of posts called Wanderlust Fashion to run alongside my other travel information posts.

So here it is, the first one of the Wanderlust Fashion posts and I thought I would start with travel fashion for spring 2013.

Pattern Pants

A loose and baggy pant/trouser is always popular amongst any traveller as it keeps you cool and comfortable when moving from place to place. However, now you can add a little style as pattern loose pants are a popular choice on the high-street this season, in particular with H&M.

Monochrome Prints

Monochrome is something that is always big in any fashion season, however designers have reworked how we style monochrome for Spring/Summer 2013. Take Louis Vuitton for example who revived the 1960's checker board look in the collection. Below is a combination of Aztec prints and monochrome designs.

Metallics

I am always a fan of added a metallic to my outfit, at the moment I am obsessed with gold. This season there is a number of designers such as Christian Dior, Mary Katrantzou, Viktor & Rolf, Burberry Prorsum and Diane von Furstenberg. Metallics will certainly be a must have this seasson.

Hidden Manchester: Richmond Tea Rooms

So I have lived in Manchester for nearly 7 years now and I have only just found this little hidden gem and its called Richmond tearooms.

Situated just off Canal Street and next to Manchester's popular gay village. This tea rooms is not like the ones your granny used to drag you to as a kid. These tearooms are far more magical than that! These tea rooms are inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

When arriving at what looks like a dingy building, I walked up the steps and into the tea rooms, I was greeted with pink and black checked walls. Pink and black drapes, an indoor greenhouse and vintage decorations throughout.

After over coming the excitement, me and the girls sat down to what became an amazing tea party. We each enjoyed a Hatters Tea Party which included finger sandwiches, a pot of tea and scones (very English) for the price of £10.50.

The atmosphere, service and good was all amazing! And I would highly recommend that if you're in Manchester. Then you pay them a visit!

I know, I know...Valentines day has been and gone. But that doesn't mean that people can't take romantic trips all year round ;)

I just happen to be writing a post during one of the most romantic months of the year. But these 'romantic destinations' don't always mean that you need to take a boyfriend or girlfriend to these places. Some of the best places I have visited have been with my best girl-friends.

I think the best example of 'love' not being just about if you have a boyfriend/girlfriend, is the opening scene to Love Actually where Hugh Grant explains that if you want to see love the watch the arrival zones at any airport and you will see truly see that love is all around.

3 Places to Visit in 2013

I'm back!!! After a lovely relaxing Christmas with friends and family members.

I celebrated the end of 2012 in good old London town and got to watch some rather fancy fireworks and drink at some very nice (yet a little pricey) bars along the London embankment area!

But now I am back into the working and life routine and I'm already thinking of travel adventures in 2013. I have been thinking about a potential adventure to visit a place in South America. I'm still researching into places to see and things to do but so far I have fallen in love with three places.

Manchester VS Lincoln Christmas Markets

The month of December sees the majority of towns and cities throughout the UK experience an authentic European Christmas markets.

As a habitant if Manchester, I have visited the Christmas markets every year, filled with excitement and glee in the run with the countdown to Christmas.

But this year, my parents suggested that me and my travel partner is crime visit the Lincoln Christmas markets.

As this is closer to my home town of Nottingham, my mum and often take the 45 minute trip to Lincoln to visit their festive markets.

So, I thought it would be good to do a comparison on the two:

Parking and Transport

Train: Manchester and Lincoln both have accessible train routes to get right into the city centre and so this is probably the easiest form of transport for most people.

Car: When travelling to Lincoln by car, it is recommended that you take the park and ride into the city. (Which is what we did) its £15 to park a car in a secure 'field' and then regular buses will come and pick you up and take you to the Christmas markets. - There is no parking close to the city or in the city centre, except one two small NCP car parks.

Manchester has a number of ways to park your cars. Either city centre street parking, generic or NCP car parks.

Christmas Market Stores

Lincolnshire Christmas markets are stretched throughout the city, like Manchester, however the main focal point in in the Cathedral grounds.

The stores are nice and sell a variety of cakes, cheeses, beverages and accessories.

The focal point for the Manchester Christmas markets is at the Town Hall, the markets here are little wooden huts, that sell a range of meats, breads, cheeses, confectionary, jewellery, clothing, accessories, carvings and novelty gifts.

Food and Drink

At the Lincoln Christmas markets food stands were set up and the local pubs are the main place to have a cup of mulled wine.

The Manchester Christmas markets had a large bar selling soft and alcoholic drinks. There are also a number I food stands set up throughout the markets.

Overall, if you're looking for an authentic Christmas experience I would personally say Manchester is your bet.

Not because they sell 'amazingly different' products. But because of the small touches, like wooden huts, fairy lights and giant Santa. Making you feel like you have landed in a winter wonderland.
