2. Coursera: This site contains the free online courses offered by Stanford, Berkley, Princeton and other reputed Universities. Courses ranges from Humanities, Social Science, Computer Science etc.

3. The New Boston: This site contains lots of tutorials on various programming languages like java, C++ and also Android.

4. mybringback: Similar to thenewboston, it also contains lots of video tutorials to get you going in the programming world.

Firefox Extensions Which Will Change Your Browsing Experience

I have been using Firefox for quite some time now and I really love it. What makes Firefox so great and awesome from the rest of the browsers is its plethora of extensions. They add a great deal of functionality to the Firefox browser.

Below is a list of my favorite extensions which will greatly change the browsing experience of anyone using Firefox along these Add-Ons.

1. Adblock Plus

Probably one of the most popular used extension. It blocks all the annoying ads and makes your browsing experience ads free.

2. LastPass Password Manager

This extensions manages all your passwords across the web. Thus it helps different and complex password for each of your sites without having to remember any of them.

3. Xmarks Sync

Like keeping lots of Bookmarks? Well, then this extension is for you. I syncs all your bookmarks across various devices. And if you are nowhere near to any of your device, just access your bookmarks form Xmarks website.

4. All in one Sidebar

This helps you access all the Firefox options like addons, bookmarks, downloads etc. from a sidebar.

5. User Agent Switcher

Once in a while you may have stumbled upon some site which requires to have the crappy IE. Well do you? Not really (not always). This extension changes your user agent of the browser which makes the site you are visiting think that you are using some other browser.

6. IE Tab

These are some sites which require you to run ActiveX content which is an IE feature. For that you can just run IE inside your Firefox with this IE Tab add-on.

7. Readability

Its really a pain to read stuff online with all those clutter on the pages. This extension removes all the clutter and makes your reading a pleasing experience. You can even save the pages to Readability account for later reading.
There may be other extensions which does the same but none is more beautiful and accurate than Readability.

8. Speed Dial

Firefox homepage with all your frequently used sites. I really fell this should be built-in in Firefox. This then Speed Dial is the way to go.

Will God Particle bless us ??

For those of you who don't know what is God particle, we also call it the Higgs Boson.

Still not heard of it ? Then may be you are not so aware of one of the biggest scientific experiments going on the planet (hint: CERN ). Ok, we are talking about The Large Hadron Collider, the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator, near Geneva, Switzerland ( I wonder why does Geneva always get the awsm shit !).

Now is that not awesome ??

Anyhow, the accelerator has been active since 2008, then why talk of it now ??

Because there has been a development that has the potential to be the most important discovery of physics in the last 60 years (yes we are talking about the Higgs Boson, Duh !!)

Recent data from two different experiments gives two possibilities:

1. Background noise ( due to random combination of particles )

2. PRESENCE of HIGGS BOSON !!!

The 2 experiments Atlas and CMS got data spikes at roughly the same mass i.e 124-125 Gev's (giga electron volts). This could just be an error or background noise due to random combinations of particles. But this also corresponds to the theoretical mass of the Higg's Boson according to the currently accepted model.

But the data is not enough to predict anything, and getting all pepped up can be disappointing. But it is exciting all the same because Higgs boson is considered to be the particle that gives mass to every other particle and not only this, it would also help in unification of all theories and provide a Universal Theory for Universe.

Right now we can do nothing but wait while the God particle chooses to show up or play hide n seek.

Barcelona and their tactical revolution

This article is something that has been fluttering at the back of my mind for quite some time now.A lot of people have marvelled at the way FC Barcelona have brushed aside any and all competition in the recent past.In this article,i shall endeavour to put across my impression of their tactics and the reason behind their immense success.

Arrigo Sacchi,the man whose AC Milan team is often the barometer against which the greatness of this team is measured believed that the future of football lay in the conversion of the whole pitch into one single tactical midfield area.On the other hand,we had Cruyuff and his views of tiki taka and total football.Guardiola was an integral part of his 'dream team' and learnt his lessons very well.

If we look at the players Barca signed in this window-:

1.Cesc Fabregas-A graduate of La Masia and thus well versed in tiki taka.

2.Alexis Sanchez-A Chilean who rose because of his prodigious skill on and off the ball.He scored a lot of goals for Udinese but created more for Antonio Di Natale and may not fit into a conventional No.9 position.

Also,looking at a few players discarded by the club-:

1.Martin Caceres, Henrique and Gabriel Milito-All specialist defenders and performing no other function

2.Ibra-Again a specialist with little other know how

All this points to the fact that guardiola is gradually eliminating all the specialist and filling them with players who have midfield experience.Going back to the point Sacchi made,it is not hard to understand why.

During a recent period where the centre backs were out,mascherano and busquets doubled up as center halves and did decently.In any other other system if you had midfielders as your center halves you're asking for trouble.

How does he resolve this?

The sheer beauty lies that they already have the solution.As a matter of fact every graduate of La Masia has it in his footballing DNA.Cruyuff's tiki taka provides the answer yet again.The possession play of Barca that allows them to dictate the speed of the game and nip counterattacks with astonishingly little trouble.

Indeed the only out and out center half that Barca possess right now is Carlos Puyol who is 34 and will gradually step out.Pique,even though is a defender firsly but still has incredible poise and composure when on the ball.

Why is the midfielder the figure at the heart of this philosophy?Because it is a midfielder who has the highest game sense.It is a midfielder who can defend and attack because he's been trained that way.It is a midfielder who can play a box to box game and make optimum use of the ball.Very oftem,teams dominate because of the sheer quality of their midfield.Indeed Barcelona is a fantastic example.Xavi and Iniesta defeat teams in the center of the pitch and when you have messi up front the whole thing becomes absurdly simple.

Their secret is not only an effective utilisation of the ball,but also the constant,relentless pressing that follows when they lose it.Imagine,for a second...That you had a whole team filled with midfielders,using possession economically,rotating until they have a good chance to strike and pressing the opposition and harassing them whenever possession is lost.Scoring against such a team would be very difficult because there would be no possession to do so from.It would be complete control over the circumstances of the game and would lead to success.

Indeed,one of the few teams to defeat them recently are Arsenal,who play a watered down version of tiki taka.Even Leo Messi who plays upfront does so as a false nine and is very capable in the midfield role as he showed in the latest El Classico.David Villa who played as a striker before,now plays as a wide man,again a midfielder.Personally,even though sometimes it gets incredibly boring to watch,it is indeed a fantastic tactical revolution.And teams in leagues like Serie A and the EPL are lost in their own conventionality,what with their 4-5-1's and 4-3-3's(the conventional version,not the barca one). have only themselves to blame for not worrying about tactics and instead fretting over on how to buy the next big superstar.however,there may be some potential downsides to the whole issue-:

1.Defending on Set Pieces-A defender is known by their strength when dealing with corners and free kicks and this team that claims the entire pitch as their midfield may not be able to deal with this threat.However a little practice on the training pitch could easily overcome all that

2.Future Managers-A new manager may bring his own style and thus lead to the decimation of this philosophy

It is indeed an incredibly intelligent way of playing football and if properly executed,very hard to stop.

Maybe,3 years down the line,we could seen an even better Barca team ruling the pitch as if it was their fiefdom..But,then again some intellectual may come up with a counter to this which will probably herald a stalemate in this revolution but believe me,that point is certainly a bit far off...

This article is a review of the latest book by the 'largest selling english novelist in India' , Chetan Bhagat...

This is a book that has it's genesis in the already much maligned índian state, UP... as such it deals with a plethora of themes from land mafia to private universities, to love and salvation and everything in between. Set in the holy filth of Varanasi, the protagonist Gopal grows up loving a girl Aarti who dosent feel the same way about him. Enter the righteous Raghav, who declined a IIt seat in favour of IT-BHU, simply because he loved journalism more. Gopal is unable to comprehend her with somebody else and so takes off to Kota (IIT prep,what else). Amidst a very unexpected turn of events,he ends setting up his own engineering college and becoming filthy rich along the way. The whole story is cast out as a struggle betwwen Gopal and Raghav for Aarti's attentions and uses issues such as abuse of power, government negligence and other such travesties as pillars. Raghav's vision of a 'Revolution 2020' whence the youth shall arise and realise their potential is oddly romantic as is Gopal's naivete in trying to win over Aarti by amassing wealth.

I started this book with a sense of impending 'fiction'al doom considering the author's other attempts at fiction (one night... & 3 mistakes...) hadn't really been upto scratch. However, this book is a refreshing change and shows that the author can write good, solid fiction and isn't just a product of hype. It is a powerful and stirring ride through people like ourselves and thankfully it reads that way and not some firang of indian descent's romantic portrayal of how our smiles are as wide as the gulf between us and our sanity in this country...

Why Google+ is better than Facebook

Here are the reasons why you should give Google+ a try:

1. Photos: In Facebook after uploading photos you can't move them into another album, nor you can do any editing. Whereas in Google+ you can easily upload your photos and organize your albums using Picasa web albums, where your photos are actually shored. Apart from this, you can also view any photo's EXIF details.

2. Circles: One of the most innovative feature of Google+ is its circles. Here you can sort your friends based on different categories, this makes it very easy for sharing any post. Moreover, if someone wants to follow you, he/she can do it just by adding you to their circles. You will get others updates only if you add them to your circles. Its like twitter and facebook in a single pack.

3. Sharing: Google+ sharing features gives you more control over what you are sharing. You can lock your post so that it can't be shared further. You can also set permissions for your photos, so that nobody can download the photos without your approval.

Linux mint is the second most popular distro after Ubuntu on distrowatch. It seems it will surpass Ubuntu's popularity this year to become the preferred distro. The reason is, it listens to its users and which is easily conveyed by the next Linux Mint 12 release. This version includes some customization over Gnome 3, to make it work much the as the Gnome 2.32.
This will difinetly provide enough reason for users who are really frustrated with what Ubuntu is doing, to switch to Mint.

Entourage - TV Series

Recently I finished watching Entourage, an amazing TV Series about life of a film star. Main characters are five people - the film star (Vince), his brother (Johnny), his best friend and manager (Eric), his another friend (Turtle), and his agent (Ari). The Series deals with their take on life in general and Hollywood in particular. It also emphasize the struggles a film star has to make.

First Season is a bit boring as it deals with basically the introductions. But overall its a awesome watch with a happy and emotional ending.

The episodes are also not too long, averaging about 22 mins each.

My favourite characters in this Series are Ari and Eric.

I would definetly recommend that you should give it a try.

In 2008, astronomers were finally able to directly image a planet (Fomalhaut b) orbiting the distant star Fomalhaut. This would not have been possible without the Hubble.
It also helps that interest in extrasolar planets is picking up.
There is already talk about getting manned missions to Mars. If that is ever successful, interstellar travel development may very well be the next big thing to focus on. Wouldn't it be nice to see these extrasolar worlds up-close?

A supermassive black hole happens to the largest class of black hole. There are two theories about their formation. One involves the collapse of a massive star (100 to 1000 solar masses) that gets bigger by eating its version of fatty foods: surrounding gasses and merging with other structures until it becomes "super-sized."

Another idea involves the collapse of a massive cloud of gas. Instead of exploding like a supernova, it will start to resemble a red giant that sucks in surrounding matter rapidly.

Recently, astronomers using Hubble data have witnessed a supermassive black hole at the center of a galaxy laying waste to a star, sucking it up rather greedily.

The Ping.fm Site. Its a pretty good service. It has more than 30 social services to choose from. You can update all your social networks directly from ping.fm, just type your post and enter.... whoomm... all your connected networks are updated instantaneously.

2. ifttt

The ifttt, if this than that, well from the screenshot above you can easily get what its all about. This has even more functionality than ping.fm. This is good if you like, want to post your blog updates to your Facebook page automatically.
This does put internet to work for you.

Yahoo Meme inside out !!

Recently I discovered about Yahoo's micro blogging site Meme (meme.yahoo.com). As people are saying it is supposed to be better than twitter, lets find out.

The interface is vibrant and certainly user friendly, but the registration was not so friendly. It took me almost half an hour due non clarity of error. It becomes even more complicated if you are using non yahoo id.

Anyhow I am posting the registration process here :

Step 1:

Go to meme.yahoo.com. You should get a window as shown above. Now as we can see that Meme lets you sign up using either a yahoo, google or Facebook account, which is definitely a very good option, removing the need to register specifically on Yahoo.

Step 2:

If you login using either Facebook or google, a window will pop up requiring validation from the respective site. If you are logging in using Yahoo, you can login straight away.

Step 3:

Once you have agreed to the terms and conditions, you need to fill in your Meme title which will be your micro blog's name or can be your name too.
Then the tricky part is the URL, you have to fill in the URL yourself. If you submit without putting in the whole URL, it will show 'Invalid Link'.

Step 4:

A list of new memes will open up for you to follow, you can skip this step and you will have your own meme.

The only new achievement for meme is the flashlight feature. Flashlight is an ultrafast search box which produces media results pertaining to the URL, search item entered. You can even import all the contents of a webpage by entering the URL.

Another brilliant feature boasted by Meme is the edit feature, you can edit your posted updates !!! that's right even your posted meme's can be edited. Now that is definitely a cool feature.

Rest of the features are pretty much the same, you can follow, be followed, post videos, pics, etc.

On a whole I would say Yahoo Meme provides a fresh look to micro blogging, definitely makes it easier as well but that is once you are able to register :)

The Republic of Maldives, or simply the Maldives, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean. It consists of approximately 1,190 coral islands grouped in a double chain of 26 atolls, along the north-south direction, spread over roughly 90,000 square kilometers, making this one of the most disparate countries in the world.

The atolls are composed of live coral reefs and sand bars, situated atop a submarine ridge 960 kilometers long that rises abruptly from the depths of the Indian Ocean and runs from north to south.

there lies a star

Pondicherry Trip: Do's and Dont's

Here's a TripAdvisor for College students for Pondicherry.

History: Pondicherry was part of the French Colonies during the earlier times.

1. If u are coming from Chennai, do take a bus.. its cheap and quite fun to travel in.
From Vellore buses are few... so plan accordingly... probably a linking bus via chennai will be good.

2. For staying, book apartment rather than hotel rooms ( I m sure u will go in group ).. they are affordable.
A 3BHK apartment will cost u around 2000 bucks a day..

3. Rent bikes for site seeing... they too are priced low ( 300 bucks per day per bike ).
Prefer Bajaj Platina. (It mileage is about 50kmpl ).. U can travel whole pondy in just one litre of fuel.

4. Visit The Aurobindo Aashram... its the most silent and peaceful place in whole of Pondicherry..
If u like .. u can meditate there...

5. See the sunrise... its awesome.. (Pick Rock Beach as ur preferred sunrise seeing spot).

6. Visit the Rock Beach.. u can take bath at rock beach (Rock beach?? Well there is a small sandy part near
one end of the beach.. with lots of fishermen boats alonside..

7. There is a Pizza Hut near Rock Beach... ( Rue Bussey Street )

8. For light shopping, Jawaharlal Nehru road is good... Lots of multi utility shops and street shooping..

9. Don't miss the Paradise Beach (Well its actually an island). .. u have to take a boat to reach there..
Paradise Beach has Water Scooters and loads of other recreational stuffs..

10. Drink just before the last day of ur trip.(just my personal experience.. Ur opinion may be different)

So archit(cain) explained u abt the story of race to redemption..but there is much more behind it as always use to be. you know before fixing it r2r finally ,we must have thought 50 or even more names while brushing our teeth in the bathroom, in dreams while sleeping in the classes and many more places i cant over mention
here ;-).
Sm of them were really funny n we were just bursting like bubbles while pronouncing them n yeah few of them were decent obviously archi suggested us bt he cant take all the credit as the most horrible one also belongs to him i think he can guess dat...!!
So finally we have a name and yeah obviously a job to make u guys aware of new thing or old things in new packing dat is what we call improvement..
