New Year

2015-01-05T19:38:00.000-08:00

WOW...this is really sad! I had no idea its been all most two years since I've even looked at this. Very disappointed in myself because its actually good therapy for me. Kinda like talking to myself only better. No kids to remind me I might be getting senile lol! So we're gonna start this off sloooww and eeeaassy. Before we get those big wheels really turning!

This past year has been a very trying year for me. For those that don't know, I had breast reconstruction done in July due to a very large mass that, THANKFULLY, was benign. Never the less, its gotta go! It was a little bit more involved than originally thought and required reconstruction of both. Recovery, to say the least, has been a slow process. NOT COMPLAINING!!!!

Now, I tell you all this because...its amazing what the thought of your own immortality can actually do to you. You see I had decided that it was the big "C" and was accepting of that fate. I was trying to focus on the positives like, "oh good, I'll get two new boobs outta the deal" and "I know I'll probably lose my hair, but that's okay because now we can see just how gray it really is under there, and I may like that"! Fortunately, I was spared all that.

So I want to share with you what my experience has taught me and there is so much to tell. First and foremost though, I do not imply, nor do I put myself on the same level as anyone who has actually gone through the whole experience. I have an even greater appreciation for anyone who has. Secondly, miracles do happen and that's the only explanation I have for that huge mass being benign. God's not through with me yet!

I learned life is very, very short and this is not a dress rehearsal. Better make the best of it while you still can. Learn to forgive yourself. Be more affectionate, and open to love. Tell the people that matter just how important they really are to you. Be open, honest and real. People may not always like you for it, but they'll definitely respect you for it. Be positive even if it kills you, and that's sometimes a very hard thing to do. Do the right thing, not for anyone else but for you. Your opinion of yourself is worth far more than anyone else's. There's always gonna be someone that seems to be prettier, smarter, and luckier than you. Guess what, they've got their own problems. Nobody's exempt. Adversity is an equal opportunity employer. Take care of yourself. If you don't your worthless to everyone else. Learn to say NO. That's actually the hardest thing I'm having to overcome. I have a hard time not doing for everyone else. I see something and think, "I should get that for my son/daughter/grandchild/" well you get the picture. I have learned that if I don't start working on that bucket list now, I'll never get the chance. I wanna experience EVERYTHING (all most) that life and this beautiful world has to offer. I wanna make sure that I see the world through a child's eyes and bath in the beauty and excitement of it all. Life in itself is a miracle!

I hope I don't ever forget this experience and how close I came to the end as I know it. I hope I never get so wrapped up again in the mundane day to day existence that I forget to live! I also hope that you don't have to go to the extreme's that I did to see what I see!

So as I bid you adieu from this very long, very boring post...Happy New Year!!

She Popped!!!

2013-02-20T12:22:00.000-08:00

As most of you know by now...I have a beautiful new granddaughter, Lola Kay!! She was born on January 24th. About a month early, but she is absolutely perfect in every way!! We had a shower for them on the 10th of February, with lots of fun and pretties!! The best part though was I got to show off my beautiful baby girl!! I apologize up front, I did not get enough pictures and some of those pictures didn't save so I'm limited. Here's a little bit of what went on...

and now for the best part, Lola Kay...

The good, the fun and the pretty!!!

2013-01-13T13:39:00.000-08:00

WOW...2013 and almost the middle of January at that! Where did the time go? Last year was a hard one for my family, actually the last couple of years have been hard ones. They have definitely taken a toll on us all. I don't mean to wish my life away but I am so grateful that they are behind us. We have endured illness, death, heartache, frustration, anger, and just down right not happy times!! So I have decided that this year no matter what it holds that it is all going to be good! No matter how bad the circumstances seem, we will make it through it and we will focus on the good, the fun and the pretty! So here's a little pretty...

Gifts in the mail!!

2012-06-24T08:13:00.000-07:00

I know what y'all are thinking...I am a terrible blogger! And your right, I am! But I do have something to tell you guys about so here goes...

Anybody heard of Birchbox? I have several blogger friends who do it and I always love to read about it so I decided to take the plunge and try it myself. Birchbox is and I quote "the best way to discover new grooming, beauty and lifestyle products. Sample top products from high end brands, get expert advice, buy new favorites and earn points with every purchase." So what that means is for $10 a month you recieve a cute little box in the mail with samples of several different things. I have recently gotten my second box and I have to say I'm so excited to see it in the mail box! Who doesn't like to get gifts in the mail and even though its not actually a gift, it sure feels like it.

It comes in the cutest little packaging! This one's for women but they do one for men too. My only qualm in the beginning is that it was small. I had heard that already so I was prepared. I wasn't disappointed at all though after I opened it up.

This was May's box and it contained Kerastase shampoo, conditioner, and the leave in treatment! Fabulous stuff and smells fantastic! Nail polish by Color Club in clambake coral, great summer color. Miracle Skin Body SPF20. Algenist Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer. Last but not least, the cutest little card for you to use! I don't do that much and I actually thought okay..no excuse not to now! While I wasn't necessarily thrilled with that one, I wasn't really disappointed either.

This is June's box and I was more pleased! All of it was things that I would definitely use. It contained a Tili bag, which will be great for my outing next weekend. Stainiac by The Balm, love it! Lumiere d'hiver Super Comb Prep & Protect, and boy do we need that in East Texas! BlenderCleanser to clean your makup brushes and something that I rarely think about doing! Comodynes Self-Tanning Intensive & Uniform Color Wipes. That stuff smelled fantastic and came with two of them but of course Reagen had first dibs on those babies! It also came with a sample of John Varvatos Star for men! Gave that one to my son for Father's Day and O M G...smells fantastic!

I was much more pleased with this month's but not disappointed by either of them. Not everyone gets the same things. They do have a selection of items that they send out and I would like to have had some of the others. I'm not sure how they decide what to send to who but in the end it doesn't matter because I'm not upset at all. I will be checking the mailbox everyday after the first of the month...patience is not a virtue for me! You should try it if you like to get "gifts" or try new things. I'm always looking for something new! If you do decide to try or use it now, let me know what you think??

til next time...

Isn't it Winter????

2012-01-06T15:47:00.000-08:00

I know that this is East Texas. I know that we usually have pretty mild winters around here, but did someone forget to tell Mother Nature that its also JANUARY?!? Seriously, I'm ready for some cold weather and lets get it over with! Especially after the horrible summer we had last year! I do not want a repeat of that one! So how bout a lil snow!! Really, I want some snow...not a lot, just a day or two. Since it looks like it won't be happening this year, I thought we dream up our own!!

2011-12-29T17:09:00.000-08:00

I'm sure by now y'all know that I'm getting my house ready to put on the market..well maybe you don't! But I am, way too much house for me. Even though Skooter's still here its just too much to take care of and I'm really tired of all the upkeep! Anyhoo....I'm trying to get it ready and its been several years since its been painted so...nothing like a fresh coat of paint to freshen things up and besides..I want it looking all cutesy and stuff! So in deciding on what I want to do with it and looking around at what everyone else is doing...I've run across lots of wallpaper lately. Some of its really cute and different. I like different, I like whimsical...I like that wow factor!! But is that something that I'll get tired of?! I mean it maybe great today but tomorrow I may not be feeling whimsical! Here's a sampling of something's that I've found! What do you think...to wallpaper or not to wallpaper???????

The True Meaning of Christmas????

2011-12-22T10:38:00.000-08:00

I know I haven't been around much lately and for that I'm sorry! I love doing this and all the people I have met and all the beautiful things I'm exposed to! For me personally I have to be in the right frame of mind in order to write these post and honestly, I just have not been there! This is a much more serious post for me and actually a difficult one to write. I certainly don't mean to bring anyone down or rain on any one's parade right here at the best time of the year, so please take it for what it is! We get sooo wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of it all we just completely take leave of our senses!! What happened to civility, and the golden rule and love and peace that passes all understanding??? Zip, zing, nada...flies right out the window at this time of year!! I do not want to be one of those people!!!

What do you think Christmas really is about, what's it mean to you? I'm not really feeling it this year. This has been one heck of a year for my family. Been lots of pain, hurt and disappointment. Things have been said, done and happened...and there is no rewind button! This is a VERY difficult Christmas for me! As I sit here and feel sorry for myself/my family I have to remember, there are worse things! As most of you know, my daughter in law has cervical cancer. Its not good and its looking like nothing short of a miracle will do! The usual stuff runs through your brain...Lord please let her live long enough to get my granddaughter grown, what will my poor son do if something happens to her, she's so young and that's not the natural cycle of things! Parents go first, grandparents go first...not thirty somethings! How can I fix this, what can I do to make it better...bottom line...NOTHING! There's nothing anyone can do. Only God!!! So as we run around and suffer from road rage, idiots and rude people shopping and shouting, looking for the perfect gift and spending more and more money every year...what's really important here? What really matters?? I realize...this could be the last Christmas we spend with her and actually with or with out her disease...none of us know how long we have. It could be the last Christmas for a lot of us! This is not suppose to be a sad post or a post to bring anyone down and I'm so sorry if it does that! Its suppose to be a gratitude post, a post that makes you stop and think for a minute, reminds you of what IS important, make you appreciate what you have. So tell me what does it mean to you? Seriously, any of you that know me well know that I am all about the bottom line...what's your bottom line here? Is there something you do as a family or on your own that makes it more special or that brings the true meaning home for you? Please do share it, don't keep it a secret...it may be just the thing someone else is needing to hear or you maybe creating a tradition for someone that they will cherish for generations to come...how cool is that one! Seriously, share it and then I want you to go hug your babies, tell your significant other how much they mean to you, call your mama, hug your brother and sister no matter how much you wanna shoot em, smile and look a stranger in the eye with all the warmth and love and compassion spilling out of you and all over them! Here's sampling of what others are saying today...:

What is Christmas spirit? Is it about how extravagant the gift? How much money you can spend on something for someone? Getting what you want? It is not any of the above! It's about spending time with the people you love and care about. Remembering those we lost on the way, new lives that were brought into the world by love, and remembering all who have mad...e the ultimate sacrifice by giving their life so others may live. Christmas spirit is and always will be how much you can love someone unconditionally no matter what they have done in the past or what they may do in the future. Love is the inspiration to be inspired! May everyone have a blessed Christmas!

Hey, really. God's got this. Keep doing what's right, don't give up, it's going to be OK. Have faith. -- The Management.

I am sharing this from a friend on my personal facebook page who shared it from her friend.~Jennifer~
Did you know that the chopping down of the Christmas tree represents the death of Christ and putting it back up again represents the resurrection of Christ? Did you know that the wreaths we hang are never ending circles, that represent eternity? Candy canes were made to look like shepherd hooks and the colors red, Jesus' blood, white, purity. The gifts, represents the 3 gifts the wise men brought for Jesus. So when you are running around trying to get the "perfect gift", stop yourself, take a deep breath and remember we have been given the perfect gift. Jesus Christ was given to us to remove all of our sins. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you, Jesus. MERRY CHRISTMAS! *Thanks for sharing Sharon Via Southern Life Beautiful ~ by Sherry Godsey Cates

That last one's kinda my favorite! It means even all those people that refuse to Christmas it up are still partaking in our faith...haha!

Merry Christmas everyone...I love you all and I'm giving you all a big ole group blog hug and kisses! Make this one of the best Christmas's you've every had! YOU BE THE GIFT!!!

Give Away From The Polka Dot Closet

2011-12-06T03:04:00.000-08:00

I have always wanted one of these!! How much fun would this be to have in your closet?! I want one and their very reasonable so if I don't win...I'm buying one! It would go perfectly in my closet. My closet, BTW, is a room that was added on at some point in time off the master suite. Probably it was an office because its got an exterior door. One day I'll have to blog about that...its gonna get a make over soon!!! Which is why I sooooo need this!! You don't get it decorated like this one but that's okay because that means we can do whatever we want to it!!

Pop on over to The Polka Dot Closet to enter and tell her hi for me!

Remember Audree???

2011-12-01T08:29:00.000-08:00

She's my cute little trailer that I want soooo badly!!! Well she's all decorated for Christmas and you just have to see her. You can check her out here and see my earlier post here!! Its amazing how a little bit of nothing can completely change the look of things! Audree makes me feel good and I'm still wanting a little trailer just like her! I can't believe I feel that way, I am not and never have been a camper of any sorts. Again, my idea of roughing it is Holiday Inn or to make that a little more clear, anything less than three stars! I would so stay with Audree and be proud to do so! One of these days....SIGH!!!!!!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree...

2011-11-29T01:51:00.000-08:00

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I love this time of the year! I know they put stuff out earlier and earlier every year but I don't care because its my favorite time! I'm not crazy about the commercialism of it all, don't get me wrong. I think its all about perspective though and its a visible reminder of my Lord and Saviors birth! Who needs more of a reason to celebrate than that! There's just something about it that evokes happy thoughts and no matter how bad things may be or how bad they're going to be, its impossible to be anything but happy! We've already gotten out the decorations and started decorating but we are no where near through!

Did you know that the first Christmas tree can be traced back to 1441! Traditionally, Christmas Trees were not brought in and decorated until December 24th or for those that celebrated the first day of Christmas, on the 23rd. Then they were removed after the 12th night, January 6th. It was even considered bad luck to have one up before or after these dates. There are still countries that follow their traditions, and ours would be...gurl, get that tree up!!!!

So how about some trees to get us in the spirit this morning!!!!!

and last but not least, one of my favorite rooms from one of my favorite gals

Went to the cutest lil baby shower on Sunday! Mika, Reagen's friend, is due...December 25th...of all days right! So we rode over to Henderson for the shower, which was soooo cute!! You'd have to know Mika to really appreciate it all. While she is a girlie girl, she's not a pink girl at all! Her choice of colors are perfect and all of her bedding and things were made for her, including that cute lil painting...it turned out perfect!! Boy, did she clean house, let me tell you! Its amazing all the stuff they have for babies now! Thought I'd share with y'all...a perfect afternoon for a baby shower!!! Here's a big ole welcome to Marley Pearl!!!

First Monday Trade Days

2011-11-11T11:39:00.000-08:00

Busy weekend!!! It was a beautiful weekend though and perfect weather for being out and about so that's exactly what we did! It was First Monday and in our neck of the woods that means an all day affair of just about anything and everything you'd ever hope to see... or not! Considered to be the "Grand Daddy of all flea markets", it originated in 1850 when the judge came in the first Monday of the month to hold court. It has now grown so large, up to 500,000 people and on over 100 acres, I'd need the whole weekend to see everything I think! It runs Thursday through Sunday and we went on Friday! Thank God we didn't wait until Saturday because it was soooo crowded, we could hardly walk and look at some things we wanted to. We never made it to the back where the real bargains are. I also wouldn't have been able to meet in person one of my all time fav's, Cathy over at Girls Gone Junkin! She is just as sweet and friendly in person, a girl after my own heart! When you go, make sure and stop by to show her some love and tell her I sentcha!!! We loved it and while we didn't make it home with anything...its not because we didn't want too!! I'll apologize for the pics in advance...limited on space and used my phone so the lighting kinda sucks!!!!

Pink for October!!!

2011-10-03T02:20:00.000-07:00

We all should know by now that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! I doubt there's anyone out there that hasn't been affected by this disease. I know I have, besides having friends that have survived it, I have a cousin that did not...a male cousin! Most of us don't think about that one do we?! He fought a brave battle for 6 years and at a time when it was still somewhat of a rarity for men to have it. Makes my heart heavy to this day!! So in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness and in loving memory of Wayne McCaslin we will celebrate pink everyday of October!!!

If I'm not pinning, I'm researching estate sales and garage sales and wanting to stop at every Goodwill with in a 200 mile radius! So last night I ran across a sight called estatesales.net. OH MY!!! One of the things I hate about living in Texas is that you have to have a ceiling fan in every room and I'm not kidding. Especially this year, the heat has been unbearable. I love a great chandy and if it was up to me I'd have one in every room, even outdoors! Love some of these, whimsical, fancy schmancy, creative, unusual...love them all!
