Before you decide to start adding performance parts, it would be a good idea to decide what you want to do. Do you want more power for hills? Do you want more power off the line? Do you want more speed? Do you want to race, etc. When I got my first 150cc scooter, I was in Wisconsin on very flat roads. I kept it stock, and could scoot around town, and keep about 50mph, with great fuel economy. When the summer was over and I brought the scooter home, I knew that I had a problem. I weigh in about 200 lbs. The roads around town here are very hilly, and it is quite windy at times. The first time I took the scoot out to go to town, I was traveling about 45 mph when I started going up the hill and by the time I got to the top, I was doing about 30 mph in a 45 mph speed zone. Not good. In the next ten steps, I will try to explain what to do. If you think your scoot is just fine stock and you are happy with the performance, leave it alone, but if you are like me, I had to do something. Come back often. These links are primarily for the GY6 150cc. If you have a different engine, please make sure you order the correct parts. Also, I have listed 10 steps. You can do any one of the steps at just about about any time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;1.&lt;/strong&gt; One of the first things to change is the CDI. Look for a &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/n-mp-01061-1--800007DC-1178919706.jsp"&gt;CDI&lt;/a&gt; that has an unrestricted rev limiter or a limiter of 9000 rpm. Some CDI's also have a better curve for the advancement of the ignition. You may notice a big change with this because most stock CDI's are limited around 5500 rpm.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;2.&lt;/strong&gt; After changing your CDI the next thing to change is your output coil. Adding a &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/n-mp-01176-a--800007E2-1178919707.jsp"&gt;high output racing coil &lt;/a&gt;will increase the strength of your spark.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;3.&lt;/strong&gt; Now is the time to decide on which way to go. Either CVT rollers Heavier roller weights= A slower take off speed with more acceleration and a higher top speed. Lighter roller weights = A faster take off speed with less acceleration and lower top speedand clutch or a &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/n-mp-02062--80000D90-1212617061.jsp"&gt;performance exhaust.&lt;/a&gt; I would say that the performance exhaust system is the way to go. It may be a little expensive, but you would be actually increasing the power and not just change the power curve.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;4.&lt;/strong&gt; With the new exhaust you will probably have to change the &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/n-mp-07250-150--80000D7E-1210430795.jsp"&gt;main jet &lt;/a&gt;in the carb. You can use the stock carb and replace the main jet larger until your scoot is running correctly. Read your plug for correct setting. You can find charts online.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;5. &lt;/strong&gt;To get a little more power, you can install a &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/n-mp-07100-3--80000D2E-1204832005.jsp"&gt;30mm carburator&lt;/a&gt;. In doing this you have to install a larger &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/n-mp-07072--80000867-1178919736.jsp"&gt;intake manifold &lt;/a&gt;to handle the 30mm carb.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;6.&lt;/strong&gt; I have seen scooters that when a new clutch was put in the speed increased by as much as 10 to 20mph due to slipping of the clutch. A &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/mrp-gy6-clutch-kit--80000CEF-1202933009.jsp"&gt;racing clutch kit &lt;/a&gt;is needed for the extra torque. If your clutch is working properly, a stronger spring will help, especially on takeoff. If you put in a &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/n-mp-03404-1--800007F9-1178919712.jsp"&gt;yellow spring tht is rated at 1500rpm&lt;/a&gt;, you will notice the difference compared to the stock spring.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;7. &lt;/strong&gt;Adding a new &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/uni-variator-181401--80000B79-1178919913.jsp"&gt;variator&lt;/a&gt; with different ramps and &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/d-slider-18x14-11gr--80002132-1263235112.jsp"&gt;slider weights &lt;/a&gt;will give better take off and speed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;8.&lt;/strong&gt; Changing your roller weights is probably the best bang for the buch. You are not increasing the power, rather putting it where you want it. You can do this without doing anything above, but I would suggest that you increase the power of your scoot first. Heavier roller weights= A slower take off speed with more acceleration and a higher top speed. Lighter roller weights = A faster take off speed with less acceleration and lower top speed. The gy6 engine has its maximum torque at 7500rpm. Be careful not to go too much over this unless you build the engine for higher rpm. Also the weight of the driver has a lot to do with it. Buy a few sets of the less expensive&lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/cb-gy6-14-5g--80000520-1178919557.jsp"&gt; rollers &lt;/a&gt;to do the experimenting. Remember that the size of the rollers depends on your variator.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;9.&lt;/strong&gt;Expect better performance from your scooter, period. No matter what stage you are in upgrading your scooter, simply add &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/d-slider-18x14-11gr--80002132-1263235112.jsp"&gt;SN SLIDER &lt;/a&gt;weights and you will see more speed and power in your bike! Over 20% longer lasting than traditional rollers of composite material. SN Sliders weights are the most advanced weights available. These sliding rollers perform better than standard round weights by allowing the variator to open farther for higher top speeds, and last longer with less performance material loss.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;10.&lt;/strong&gt; Irecommend upgrading the &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/n-mp-03476k--80000C0C-1179586391.jsp"&gt;belt&lt;/a&gt; on all CVT units whenever possible with a &lt;a href="http://www.superscooterparts.com/SPD/n-mp-03476k--80000C0C-1179586391.jsp"&gt;Kevlar belt&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7971431620645802516-2109536137515134752?l=superscooterparts.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

Many of the replacement parts that we found were inferior or gave way sooner than expected. We started with a small Internet site with some of the parts that we needed and tested, and new that others needed the same parts. The GY6 clones were and still are very popular, and many of the parts were directly interchangeable. When it came to performance parts, that was a different matter. These parts were supposed to fit, and most of them did with much difficulty and additional work. The main reason for teaming up with MRP was that all there parts were tested and when it said it would fit a specific engine, it actually did! Many of the other parts that we purchased that were supposed to fit either did not, or had to be converted to fit. As you know that takes time and you still do not have the correct part.
