The Judson House

2013-01-03T16:32:00.001-05:00

To our customers,

The difficult decision has been made to close The Judson House. A combination of many adversities brought us to the conclusion that we cannot financially continue on running this business. Operating costs are too high. The economy is in the tank. Taxes are rising. Disposable incomes are decreasing. And while we have so many wonderful customers that I know love The Judson House, we simply cannot wait for things to turn around.

Until our closing, which will be at the end of February, we will continue to be open Wednesday-Sunday. Our coffee shop will keep serving delicious lattes & teas, and we will begin discounting inventory throughout the store. We’ll schedule a few more events before our closing, including some Saturday yard-sales.

We have been so fortunate to own such a fun, unique, and loved shop. Please come by a few more times while we’re still here to see the deals!

With much gratitude,

Jason & Lindsey, and The Judson House Staff

P.S. Many of our items on consignment will be picked up or mailed back soon. If there’s something you’ve been eyeing for some time, please come quickly to buy it!

Update 7/5/2011

2011-07-05T22:09:00.000-04:00

It's been forever since I've posted an update. The shop is coming along slowly but surely - we are finishing up details and we're pushing back the opening date to mid-August. We still don't have a date nailed down but I hope to let everyone know soon!!

I'm excited about getting these though:

I'll update soon :)

Chimneys

2011-06-08T11:30:00.001-04:00

I haven't posted pictures of the upstairs yet, so I wanted to show what the chimneys look like. The large brick chimneys go right up the middle of two rooms upstairs. It's very strange but I love how unique they look! Check them out...

Refinished Floors

Here's a preview of how our floors turned out -- the front half of the house is done, and they look wonderful!

Flooring

2011-05-24T23:28:00.001-04:00

Southern Woods Flooring in Bethlehem started refinishing our floors today, and they already look amazing! I'll keep posting updated photos, but here's the before & after so far. Once the floors are finished we should be getting closer to opening day - we're now shooting for mid-June!

This is what the floors looked like when we bought the house -

Tree cutting

2011-05-24T23:11:00.000-04:00

One of the many things we want to do before opening is work on the landscaping in the front, and also make sure that people driving by can actually see the house. We are having about 30 of the oak and pine trees cut down along the front near the road. It already looks better, and they're only half-way done!

Before:

After - about 20 oak and pine trees taken out. Don't worry, the pecans are staying!

Painting!

2011-05-16T12:45:00.001-04:00

We're working hard to get the Judson ready for shopping & coffee time, and painting has been our first big task. We finished the front 4 rooms and the front door, and we now get to work on the front porch, and the back rooms. Once painting is done we will get the lovely old hardwoods refinished! Here's a preview of our painting...

Finding a treasure

2011-05-08T23:35:00.001-04:00

Today we tackled the carpets. We didn't know the condition of the floors beneath the carpets, but we we're just hoping they would be decent. Here's the before picture..

then rolling up the carpet...

then pulling up the padding - look at that!

for being 120+ years old, the floors are in amazing condition!!
