First prayerwalk for 2012
Starting at 14:00 today (1 Jan 2012).
When I plotted the final route on the map, it measured exactly 12km! WOW

The route for today's prayerwalk from Clearwater to Helderkruin - takes us over the mountain along the very (VERY VERY) steep side. Is this symbolic of your very hard year? Then we go over the edge and descend down into the valley ... to the table ... in His presence and anointing and overflow and goodness and mercy and the Lord's intimate presence.

Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Your prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Please sms any prayer requests to me on the road, (+27 74 482 4341)

Waking up on the first morning, I felt the Lord give me this scripture to take with me in my heart;

“Awake, O sleeper,

and arise from the dead,

and Christ will shine on you.”

Ephesians 5:14 (ESV)

This day, it proved to be a wonderful key in understanding God revealing deep things.

Bearing in mind that I was starting off the prayerwalk in prayer for the Afrikaner nation to come into the place of being in the full purpose that God has for them, right now at this specific point in time.

My wife accompanied me to the first 3 destinations:

At daybreak, we started off at the Union Buildings in Pretoria. Our first prayers were filled with God laying on our hearts to pray about a new season which is coming.

As we were walking around prayerfully, God highlighted to us the abundance of the colour purple in the fresh light of that golden sunrise.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. I Peter 2:9 (ESV)

To proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us into His marvellous light...

As we continued to pray, the Holy Spirit continued to lead: The Afrikaner nation cannot start this new season without His life-giving water ... “living water”.

God needs to be placed first and foremost in everything we do. He is our firm foundation, the solid Rock on which should build everything.

Outside our national flag is flying proudly. And that lead us to pray that God’s banner will be, continually, over the country and our South African nation.

Then He lead us to pray for order in our country; we prayed that (especially) the leaders of the country will become righteous and in right standing with God; and that the government will be deeply rooted in God.

The steps of a man are established by the LORD,

when he delights in his way Psalms 37:23 (ESV)

God also spoke some promises of His plans and dreams for this nation are to be strong, affluent and prosperous. A rainbow nation made up of many different nations - all with their own unique identities. They are all beautiful in their own way.

If you pour yourself out for the hungry

and satisfy the desire of the afflicted,

then shall your light rise in the darkness

and your gloom be as the noonday.

And the LORD will guide you continually

and satisfy your desire in scorched places

and make your bones strong;

and you shall be like a watered garden,

like a spring of water,

whose waters do not fail

Isaiah 58:10,11 (ESV)

Filled with awe and a deep excitement, we headed to the Voortrekker monument. Why and what we exactly had to pray there, we were soon to find out...

We felt to ask for forgiveness on behalf of the Afrikaner nation for the things our nation has done to deeply hurt God’s heart. We asked that God would restore us as a nation to the purpose and plan He has for us in this time in this place.

Great was our surpise after that, when a prayer partner sent us the following - so in line with what we were praying:

LORD, you were favorable to your land;

you restored the fortunes of Jacob.

You forgave the iniquity of your people;

you covered all their sin. Selah

You withdrew all your wrath;

you turned from your hot anger.

Restore us again, O God of our salvation,

and put away your indignation toward us!

Will you be angry with us forever?

Will you prolong your anger to all generations?

Will you not revive us again,

that your people may rejoice in you?

Show us your steadfast love, O LORD,

and grant us your salvation.

Psalms 85:1-7 (ESV)

We then felt the Holy Spirit lead us to walk around the monument and pray. We walked around the 40 meter square structure, and suddenly a shofar sounded from amongst the thorn trees and bushes as we walked around the East side. This was remarkable because the shofar is used to announce the presence of the King. Here we were on the East side - the side from where the sun rises. The side from where the Son will shine - and I remembered the scripture the Lord gave at the start of the day:

“Awake, O sleeper,

and arise from the dead,

and Christ will shine on you.”

Ephesians 5:14 (ESV)

After walking around the monument, we continued on to the Irene Concentration Camp Memorial. We felt that this would be the place to pray and ask God to heal the terrible wounds inflicted on our nation many years ago - from which the scars are still evident; even generations later. This nation with great agricultural abilities was dealt a severe blow after over 30000 farms were burnt down in that war. It is time to reconnect with God and the nation’s destiny in Him.

What a great surprise awaited me upon arrival at this place: Here I met an old friend whom I have not seen in over 30 years.

On behalf of our nation we also spoke forgiveness over the people who did these terrible deeds.

Old friends

My last destination for the day would be a worship and prayer meeting about 4 hours walk from there. As I walked I felt the Lord give me a clear word as encouragement to share later that evening.

But there was one thing I was in a way discussing with the Lord: Why did I meet an old friend - and what significance did it have.

After walking for about 2 hours, I stopped at a shopping centre to refill my water bottle. While checking my map to make sure of the direction to go from there, I was surprised by receiving a call from another friend from the past. While I was talking to him on my mobile phone, I turned around and noticed another friend from my past walking down the isle. WOW!

By now I knew it was very significant. The Lord gave me a very simple explanation: Rekindling of old friendships - that is what He longs for. he has many people who once called Him Friend who He haven’t heard speaking to Him for many years...

I knew how to shape my prayers; that people who neglected their relationship with God, would turn their hearts back to Him!

I would not be able to have found that meeting place without that map AND the water I had to drink on that hot afternoon. And that beautiful picture is all the Holy Spirit needed to encourage some at the evening’s meeting. In the same way that I used the map and the water to get to a destination, is how we should take our bible in the one hand and the Holy Spirit in the other and with this “map” and “water” we will find our destiny in life.

How great my awe in God when, at this meeting where they didn’t even know what I have experienced during the day, a at a time great emphasis was laid on singing about being a friend of God and someone even spoke out and read that God called Abraham His friend...

In the meeting mention was made about a new season that is upon us and then, to my surprise, we were informed that this day was the start of the Jewish New Year ... A new season has started!

Then even symbolically on behalf of the Afrikaner nation, I took communion with the new friends I have made, and the person leading reminded us that we must make sure there is no unforgiveness ... I was so glad we did the forgiveness prayer at the Irene Concentration Camp earlier that day!

That evening one of a local church’s prayer and intercession members invited me to sleep over at their house. We had lovely fellowship and I was reminded that the Afrikaner nation is also a nation that is very generous. This was added to my prayer - that the Afrikaner nation will be a generous nation again. I experienced generosity in this house which gave me enormous hope as I continued shaping my prayers for the Afrikaner nation.

The next I met a man day who told me that he had witnessed God perform a miracle through him; but he has not testified about it for 15 years! He said he felt God used me to get him to come closer to god and also to witness to others about God’s power.

I just know God longed for this man - His old friend - to get back!

And so symbolically I pray for the nation who have neglected God - to return to God with tears of joy!

A very hot day loaded with symbolism and prayer. The previous day I praised and worshiped with mostly white people in the meeting in a affluent area. This day would end with a 4 hour fellowship, praise and prayer meeting sitting in the open, under the stars, in a poor community with no electricity.

Earlier that day I passed the Lion park where I found it very symbolically to walk on the land in the way that our forefathers walked - surrounded by wild animals and the roaring of the lions in the distance. Here I took a shower in the base camp, almost signifying a cleansing before moving ahead to spread the gospel to the new generation of people living in the “new” South Africa.

It struck me that the shower drain was blocked! Even in the same way the Afrikaner nation is holding back on things that are passed. Not letting the old water pass under the bridge ...

This shaped my prayer for the Afrikaner nation even more.

Mysterious dust storms.

Now for an unexplained part that I can only attribute to God working in mysterious ways.

Day 2, in Itsoseng, ended with much prayer. It was just past 10 at night. As we said amen there in the open as we were praying in the open, under the stars, a sudden burst of wind made the us all scatter for cover and for home. I was invited to sleep in a little shack next to where we were praying. As soon as we were inside, a rough wind blew and the air was thick with dust. It was very notable how, as soon as we said “amen” the wind came up.

On day 3, in a real rural area, I met a “truck load” of men, waiting on the side of the road. Their truck ran out of fuel and they were waiting for someone who walked to a petrol station for some fuel. I stood by their truck talking to them for quite a while. I asked if I could pray for them and the welcomed me to do it. When I said amen a wind came up and blew a cloud of dust across the road.

That afternoon, while I was walking and praying the things that Holy Spirit laid on my heart, I experienced a few more times when I finished a prayer, there would be a dust storm. This was a almost like God was answering me - showing how He uses the wind to blow off the dust of the old season in preparation for the new, before he will send the rain which will bring in the new season.

Late that afternoon, I prayed and said to God that it is almost time to make ready for the evening and I would now keep my ears and eyes open if He wanted to tell me where to go for the night. When I said amen, I looked up and ahead in the road, I saw a sign announcing a Mighty Men Conference. When I came closer, I saw it was starting that evening.

For almost 3 days I was wondering how to get the people of this area together to share the word that God laid on my heart for them, with them. Here was a meeting advertised in the area for the people of the area. About an hour later I shared with the camp organiser about the dust storms. He took me to a huge cross that He erected on his farm, and showed me the copperplate with inscription dedicating the 20m cross to God. He then told me that just after he had finished attaching that copper plate onto the cross, a great dust storm blew over...

That evening I slept in a farm house and also had the opportunity to share my testimony and the word I had from the Lord with the people attending the conference.

Blessing the land

The next day I walked along many farms and I felt a specific call to walk over the freshly ploughed lands and to bless it.

The prayer I felt the Holy Spirit lay on my heart was to ask that God would bless the land greatly. So much that it would yield amazing crops.

Lord I pray that it would be more than expected

that it would be over and above

and that it would be more than enough

and that there would even be much extra.

Lord I pray that the farmers will then be touched and be generous

and that they will open their hands and

give away.

Freely as they received

I pray that they will freely also give away.

I was asking about the crop - but someone that prayed with me even added that the farmers would even give some of the land away.

This day was very tiring and it was hard walking in the ploughed lands and long distances on uneven ground. It was getting late and I asked the Lord about a sleeping place. I was very tired and it was amazing to hear Him answer this: The ones who want to camp turn right at the next turnoff and the workers go straight ahead into town.

A full house

I was very tired but mindful that I am not here for the comfort, so I said to the Lord - I am ready for more work, so I will go on straight. The road ahead was definitely longer than the one to the camp area at the next turn-off. So I made the hard choice and walked straight ahead.

I felt to do an unusual thing: take down the number of the first guest house advertised along the road. I walked in the direction I felt the Lord lead me. A family stopped next to me and asked where I was going because they passed me along the road a few times during the day. I explained to them what the prayerwalk was all about, and when we said our goodbyes, I felt the Lord say - Now the day’s work is now done.

He laid on my heart to phone the guest house ... I knew I didn’t even have the budget but I phoned anyways. When the owner heard what I was doing I was invited to come stay over as a guest for free!

God had blessed them that evening with a house full of guests with only one room to spare ... (mine!)

“This is the reward for the worker” I felt the Lord say to me. Wow - thank You Dad.

That night the rain poured down in a thunderstorm for almost 6 hours. It was announced on the news that this good rain came as a welcome surprise for farmers in the area.

Now here is something awesome that God have let me see about HIMSELF:

After sleeping in a warm dry bed that night of the thunderstorm, I walked 56km to Potchefstroom in prayer for the Afrikaner to return to God, to once again open their hands as they become a giving nation again; and to proclaim the excellencies of him who called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. Almost at the end of the road, just outside Potchefstroom a car stops next to the road. They are from the same family I met the previous night. They told me that they drove almost 50km to Potchefstroom the previous evening, just to check if i was OK ...

Then I realised - God not only has a plan for our lives ... he even has a backup plan!

Thank You Jesus!

Prayerwalker’s poem about the road

The further I go

      the fewer the houses

            the street becomes a road

The deeper I go

The further I go

      the fewer the cars

            the city becomes a countryside

The deeper I go

The further I go

      the fewer the words

the broken prayer become a worship song

The deeper I go

The further I go

      the fewer the distracting thoughts

the focus becomes only more on You

      the more dusty the road

the stony hearts become more like clay

            the better I hear

I fondly remember the prayer-walks I did in:

Denmark for the Danes;

Sweden for the Swedes ;

Frankfurt for the Germans;

Singapore for the Singaporeans;

Sydney for the Aussies;

across the length New Zealand for the New Zealanders;

around Joburg for the Joburgers

all across South Africa for the locals

BUT now ...

After years of prayer-walking in different countries for many nations, I have a specific prayer-walk mandate for my own nation, the Afrikaner nation.

The Bulldozed prayer-walk will be for the Afrikaner nation to stand up in their Divine God given purpose and destiny; to, despite the past, align and be re-used by God. When we are a righteous people, He will make our paths level

Based on the scripture in Isaiah 26:7 (NIV)

The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth.

From Pretoria to Potchefstroom, 28 September to 2 October 2011.
As usual, I will send updates as I walk, to let you know how and what I am praying, and your feedback and comments will be vital, as you hear from the Lord and we pray all together for a new season and dispensation in the Afrikaner nation, as part of the nations that make up South Africa. A nation with a very specific purpose and destiny in God's plan. As we pray, I believe the spiritual atmosphere will change!

Here is the planned route:

Can you hear God’s love song over a broken nation:

Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away, for behold, the winter is past

Is God, even our holy God, a gracious God of second chances?

Have we messed up too much to be used again??

We were with child, we writhed in pain, but we gave birth to wind.

We have not brought salvation to the earth;

we have not given birth to people of the world.

Is 26:18 (NIV)

Can He STILL use us to reveal His glory in Africa?

Take courage and comfort! I believe that He will re-use the Afrikaner nation in their original calling and divine purpose. We are about to get a second chance!

As a nation, God has not finished with us. He still has great dreams and visions for us.

We need to come in line with our God-ordained purpose and destiny; in this very time and place that God has purposed for us as a nation.

Looking into the historic purpose and destiny of the sttlers in the Southern tip of Africa, I realised that it was about working the land and to create a safe space. The Afrikaner nation has always been deeply rooted in the spiritual ways of God.

What is the Divine purpose of the Afrikaner nation within South Africa AND Africa?

Do we have a significant role to play in the “food basket” of Africa?

Do we have a significant role to play in making Africa a “safe haven”?

Do we have a significant role to play to reveal the glory of God in and throughout Africa?

Join me as a prayer-partner for the rest of the month as I prepare for a prayer-walk where we will be praying for exactly the things stated above. As usual, I will only be doing the legwork, and all who feel prompted by the Holy Spirit can pray with.

The Lord laid on my heart to name this the Bulldozed prayer-walk. I base it on the scripture in Isaiah 26:7 (NIV)

The path of the righteous is level;

you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth.

Pray with me that the Afrikaner nation will

Take up their rightful place as a righteous people. Planted here by God with a Divine mandate to work the ground and to teach fellow South Africans and Africans how to do the same.

And that God will bless the Afrikaner nation as they come in line with who God made them to be

That God will bless the land as they work it

That the Afrikaner nation will be instrumental in creating safe spaces for people to live in South Africa AND in Africa

AND!!! that the Afrikaner nation will bring the Glory of God to all the nations of this continent!

A week ago, as I was training, God showed me a wonderful and encouraging picture:

I saw a straight road disappearing way off in the distance on the horizon. Just above the end of this road, suspended in the air, hung a yellow moon almost in the shape of a basket. And I heard Him say into my heart: The times of hunger is over. A new season is ahead and I feel that this new season has to do with the abundant refilling of the food basket. This has to do with the land in the area that I will be walking. I need to speak this over the land as I walk and have prayer partners in agreement. There is a new season and new opportunities coming for the Afrikaner nation. God is going to use them.

Then someone also spoke and said something that stuck in my spirit: Did you know that Naomi and Ruth, had a cross cultural friendship. I see this as almost prophetic for the next phase in the life of the Afrikaner nation. We need to reach out cross-culturally. This is where the Lord wants to use us. We need to make His glory known to the peoples of this land.

Here are some interesting facts about the 2 cities I will be connecting in this prayer-walk:

Potchefstroom was the first capital city for the South African Republic in 1857, and was succeeded by Pretoria a few years and wars later

When gold was discovered in South Africa, Potchefstroom became known worldwide as the gateway to a new riches and glory

Please be prayerful about the significance of this prayer-walk and let me know what the Lord lays on your heart.

I have found that the input of prayer partners have greatly enriched the prayers we prayed over many areas. So, even if you only have a small thing to say, let me know. It could just be the final part of a whole puzzle to complete a bigger picture of praying what is on God’s heart.

Lord Jesus

I just thank You for the wonderful and rich and colourful history of this nation.

Father God, You have ordained a very specific purpose for the nation and we pray that You will restore this nation to its purpose and destiny in which You will be glorified.

Holy Spirit, please lead us in this challenge. Step by step closer to your heart.

And Father God, will You please bless this land. Bless every person, young and old, in this country. lord we are calling for Your favour to fall on this country and that it will spread to the ends of the continent.

Lord, we as Afrikaner nation ask for forgiveness of our sins, and ask that You will restore us. We ask that You will re-use us.

Thank You that You are a gracious God and that we can know that you want to fellowship with us.

We want to be close to You Lord. We want to be holy. We want to be righteous. And we want for You to make our paths straight as we honour and worship You in righteousness.

In Jesus’ name we pray

Amen.

Climb on the rocky area beside the road to the very top of the hill."

As I looked out over the landscape and felt God remind me of the scripture where He said to Abram in Gen 13:17 "Arise, walk through the land in its length and in its breadth; for I will give it to you." In Gill's Exposition of the Bible, he states that taking land in possession, by civil law was done by walking on it. I knew in my heart that would be true for this walk too, in a spiritual sense.

I got the flags ready which I felt God told me to take with. So many people stopped me along the road to ask about the flags. This gave me a great opportunity to bring to them the gospel according to the colours of the flags. (Red = the blood of Jesus / White = washed as white as snow / Yellow = Kingship of Jesus / Blue = Colour of the sky reminds us God of heaven is with us). Sometimes children would ask about the flags and without much explanation about symbolism I could answer them that the flags means Jesus loves them.

On that cold first Friday morning, I started off from the busy intersection at Leratong Hospital wondering if I heard God correctly. I just asked Him if I started on the right road and if I would be able to minister to anyone in the early morning traffic rush.

That prayer was answered within 10 minutes!

A young woman came running to me and with tears in her eyes told me how she was driving to work - already half an hour late. Just as she passed me, the Holy Spirit spoke to her to "Stop and go pray with that man walking with the flags". Just there on the side of that busy road I had a chance to minister to her and I knew in my heart God ordained that meeting AND the both of us just had to turn up...

God is so caring and awesome.

So many instances of people that just met me or asked about the flags seemed to have been pure co-incidence ... No, I believe every person I met was a meeting ordained by God.

"The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step]." Psalm 37:23-24

This is also why it is part of my declaration as I step out; to put on the full armor according to Eph 6 and I also declare that I put on the shoes of WILLINGNESS to spread His gospel.

I came to the home of my friend pastor William, who has a church who meets at his house every week. We had some breakfast together and prayed for that which the Lord had on His heart for the next 4 days. William sent me off with the assurance that wherever I visit I would be received people would with divine hospitality.

I greeted all who came to see me off and almost immediately got opportunities to speak with people from all walks of life. I had an appointment in the afternoon at 5 but did not nearly make it. When we are available for God to use us, I realised I should not plan too far ahead, because there is such a need - even just for encouragement or for spreading the gospel.

At 5 in the afternoon, I was still 15km from where I should have been. This meant I missed the service in Cosmo City where a visiting preacher from Nigeria was holding a service. mmm ... I would liked to have met him though.

I was around the corner from where I stay. What a blessing to spend the night at home with Marelise.

The next morning, as I got ready to unlock the door to leave, I stopped and asked God to confirm for me which route I should take. I must add that I had the route all worked out BUT God answered me with somewhat shocking news. The previous day someone spoke about a drug/alcohol rehabilitation centre along another route towards Brits, and He would want me to simply walk to that place ...

I had a wonderful time early Saturday morning just praying, praising, worshiping, and singing. After 10 km I saw a guy about my age walking towards me, also wearing a hat, a backpack and a blanket neatly rolled on top of his pack. We caught each others eye and stopped to talked. Two men journeying, stopping to discus the weather, the road, the dangers and then to talk about each others' journey. Perfect opportunity for a prayer-walker...
This man was on the wrong road. He was supposed to get a lift to Welkom (a town 200km from here), but his previous lift got a bit lost, and dropped him some distance from the place where we met. He, walked and hitched rides between Bloemfontein and Pretoria, to finalise paperwork for his pension.
He was so encouraged when he heard about my journey. We both realised this was a divine appointment, since we were both on other than our planned routes.
Oh the appreciation when I asked if I could pray for him...
Then, it turned into a prayer meeting. He told me that he was drifting away in his walk with God, but now he realised that God loved him so much that He had an appointment with him that day. He said that this meeting convinced him to make his life right with God again. So much so that he immediately wanted to pray for me too. Wonderful rekindled spirit-filled man back on track in his walk with the Lord.

A prayer partner sent a message that it was definitively not the wrong road - it reminded them of Saul before his conversion. I think it was as great as that for this man.

Father God, we pray for this man right now.
For a deeper awareness of You and Your will and Your presence in his life.
Lord, please help him to share his re-awakening with the people around him and help him to get surrounded by other people who love You. Help him Lord to serve You and get very close to You.
In Jesus name we ask
amen

I started to notice a very interesting thing. Next to the road laid a belt. Not long after, another belt. It was close to Diepsloot and the road has a lot of people walking on it. Many of them too poor to pay for a taxi-ride. So many of them were just so excited about meeting with me and hearing how God is using me. Many of them were just so hungry to hear about God, and be included in this long prayer from SOWETO to Brits.

Then another belt and another. Seems that when it breaks, the belt is just a burden to keep and it unceremoniously gets trashed along the road.

15 belts later and I wondered what God is saying ... I sent a message to the prayer partners and asked God to lead us to the answer of this riddle.

This prayer-walk SOWETO and BRITS resembles the extremes in the history of our country. Especially racially. We have tried to put things together but even along the road someone said there wasn't a total blending yet. We can only trust God to bind us together.

Every time I saw a belt, the song that went through my mind was:

Bind us together, Lord
Bind us together
With cords that cannot be broken
Bind us together, Lord
Bind us together
Bind us together in Love

Prayer partners responded and the meanings of belt expanded and brought better understanding. Belt also refers to a region / locality / zone.
Added to that:

Readiness for any service that might be required:

Ephesians 6:14: Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,
Luke 12:35-36: Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
I Peter 1:13: Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

Symbol of strength, activity and power:

Job 12:18: He looses the bonds of kings and binds a waistcloth on their hips.

and suddenly we see Jesus in the belt scripture:
Isaiah 11 AND THERE shall come forth a Shoot out of the stock of Jesse [David's father], and a Branch out of his roots shall grow and bear fruit.(A)
And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him--the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord--
And shall make Him of quick understanding, and His delight shall be in the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord. And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, neither decide by the hearing of His ears;
But with righteousness and justice shall He judge the poor and decide with fairness for the meek, the poor, and the downtrodden of the earth; and He shall smite the earth and the oppressor with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.
And righteousness shall be the girdle of His waist and faithfulness the girdle of His loins.

After many more opportunities to minister to people along the road I felt something dear and precious on the Lord's heart. Many people have nothing. Extreme poverty ... but something everybody has, no matter how poor; is a name.
Isaiah 43:1 “Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

I started making a point to pray for each person the Lord brought across my path, by there own name ...

I felt the Lord lay on my heart to share a specific testimony with the men at the drug/alcohol rehabilitation centre where I was heading to. At 5 in the afternoon I arrived and I asked the way to reception, and as I waited for the person to arrive, an outside bell rang. I was welcomed and after telling them about the prayer-walk and my desire to share with the men, I was offered to sleep over and speak at the church meeting the next morning. The bell that rang was the dinner bell and they said there was more than enough, I could eat with them.

That evening I spent a long time speaking to a man who just a week ago lost his cars, house, marriage ... everything - and now has nothing as he stays in the detox zone. What a divine appointment!
The Holy Spirit reminded him of something spoken a long time ago over his life prophetically. God has not forgotten him. Even though he lost everything, God still had His eye on him and his life in His hand. We prayed together ... I wonder if he would in any other situation be willing to let his guard off and talk like that about God. Thank You Jesus for an opportunity for deep ministry.

The next day at church, my testimony touched so many guys.

The owner of the centre knows someone where I was heading to and arranged that I could sleep there the Sunday evening. When I left the farm, as I walked on a dusty gravel road, back to the main road, I for some reason thought about a friend called Nicholas.
Around the next bend, an old man in a wheelchair was being pushed along the dirt road. We stopped prayed and talked. The old man's name was Nicholas!

Just on the main road, a guy stops and asks for directions. Then he asked about the flags. Half way through my talking, he stopped me and said that his life is in a mess. He is on a road to no-where. So deep in troubleand so far from God. There next to the road I had an opportunity to minister to him and he
was commited to making right. A few days later we made contact and he told me things are better and he just so profusely thanked me for praying with him.

Sunday evening I visited a pastor who had a long history of evangelising and preaching. We even discovered he knew my wife when she was young. Awesome time to just sit, in the sunset, overlooking Hartebeespoort dam and talking about the wonderful God we serve until it is dark at night.

That evening a young man who heard the prayer-walk, came to me and gave me 4 brand new bibles. This was awesome because at the last day, there were four people receiving me at Pitso's church. I could hand them each their own bible.

As I neared Brits on the last day, God did something in a very practical way.
The verse that I felt was the base for the prayer-walk was Isaiah 62:10:
... build up, build up the highway;
clear it of stones ...

With about 5 km to go, I heard a rumbling behind me. It was a big yellow road grader. I got out of the way and it passed grading the side of the road where I was walking. The blade on the grader was clearing the road of stones and clearing the highway of stones and there was I walking on the smooth road. Just as I was praying for 4 days up to then. As God laid on my heart specific things to pray against, which were stumbling blocks in the area I walked, He showed me as I prayed it out of the way, it was like clearing the road .., and here I physically see what has been happening in the spiritual realm.

The walk ended with a prayer meeting at pastor Pitso's church. New friendships has been formed in the Lord. I have been drawn closer to God in this walk.

Thank You Jesus

PS ... I did get to meet the pastor from Nigeria who's service I missed.
and subsequently got invited to share my testimony in Nigeria, in London and to join missionaries on their ANNUAL PRAYER DRIVE-CAPE TO CAIRO

The sun was bright and I couldn't see the screen of my phone clearly. I pressed the wrong button and dialled the wrong number.

William answered - he is one of two pastors who I met during a recent Holy Spirit conference - we were both delegates! It was good to hear his voice and we had a short chat.

The gate opened and I entered the main office. There was a visitor - another delegate from the conference. The other of the two pastors whom I met at the conference!

Both of the two pastors - not only brought to my remembrance, but brought into contact in person! How WOW is that ...

Coincidence? I don't think so!
... and now I am inviting you to follow me online in my quest to see what God has in mind for me and the 2 pastor friends.

Prayer-walking from William's house in Soweto to Pitso's place off the Dikhololo road on the other side of Brits.

On the previous prayer-walk when I walked around Johannesburg for 7 days, I met a man in Slovoville, Soweto. We have had incredible impact on each others lives. We are almost the same age, and have grown up within 20 km from each other, but because of the Apartheid in this country, we have discussed lots about growing up in 2 completely different worlds in the same city. He said to me one day that even after all these years it was still hard for him to talk about some incidences. I thank God that since we met, Lewis has told me he has experienced a lot of inner healing. He spoke about how seeing this white guy walk through his neighborhood, and being personally prayed for and befriended, let to him and his wife to accept the Lord in a fresh full way, and getting baptised early one icy winter's evening.

Lewis has volunteered to prayer-walk with me!

Please pray for us and with us as we prepare to step out in this adventure for God.

We are taking a small step on land BUT a huge leap in the spirit.

We are planning to prayer-walk 4 days.

Please pray that we will meet the right people at the right places on the road to minister to.

As usual we don't plan the overnights, but will walk in faith to see where the Lord leads.

Friday, July 8, we visit pastor William in Soweto and then prayer-walk 30km to Cosmo City where we will attend a Nigerian outreach service "The God of a better deal"

Saturday, July 9, we prayer-walk 30km towards Hartebeespoort Dam.

Sunday around the dam heading towards Brits

Monday we will meet up with pastor Pitso and pray together to further seek God's plan and purpose in this.

But since I met the Lord in a deep way, I don't believe in coincidence any more.

As I started out on a 20km prayer-walk this morning, I had an expectancy in my heart. I long to see the Lord at work in a powerful and real way.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 231px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I_HVBFm-XSQ/TdxrAvM270I/AAAAAAAAAJo/m-qxJ9dFAR4/s400/coincidence.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610476896211365698" />http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=212334695467406

At a moderate pace, 20km takes a few hours to complete which gives plenty of time for intense prayer and intercession for lots of things and many people.

The Lord laid a number of people on my heart to pray for specifically; and I did! I want to encourage everyone who I tagged in the above facebook-note link - since He laid you on my heart: you are on His heart!!

After about 15km, I stopped at Fisherman's Village, (this is where we had a Holy Spirit conference). At that time I took down contact numbers and details of some people I wanted to keep in contact with. In the meantime I connected with those who are available on Facebook.

During that conference, I met two delegates who are pastors with whom I also wanted to stay in contact. They're aren't on Facebook, so I haven't been in contact with them.

The gate at Fisherman's Village was closed, and I proceeded to phone the office to let me in. The sun was bright, and I couldn't see the screen of my phone clearly; this meant I pressed the wrong button and so dialled the wrong number.

"Who's speaking?" I asked when I realised that I didn't get through to reception.
"It's William" That was William, one of the two delegates who are pastors, from the weekend conference!

It was good to hear his voice and have a short chat.

Someone saw me and opened the gate to let me in. As I entered the main office, I noticed a visitor ... A man from Brits, about 70km away ... That visitor was the other of the two delegates who are pastors, from the weekend conference! Both of the two pastors - not only brought to my remembrance, but brought into contact in person! Wow...

Could this be coincidence? I don't think so!

But I am praying that God will reveal to me what the significance is.

And if you have any input, I would love to hear. Please leave a comment.

It feels to me I am standing with a piece of a puzzle in my hand and when I find the place to put it down, it will reveal a bigger picture...

Prayers answered in a more crime-free Joburg

The prayer-walk around Johannesburg had over 200 prayer-partners involved. I just want to thank everyone for praying for the city - especially for praying about the crime and safety!

I have great encouragement for you all:

We prayed for a crime-free and safe Johannesburg... Johannesburg was exceptionally safe and ctime-free!

"Johannesburg has enjoyed an exceptionally crime-free and safe festive season... We can report a significant reduction in the number of deaths and serious accidents on our roads during the holiday period. The 2010 festive season was one of the safest periods in recent years both on our roads and with regards to general crime in Johannesburg," Metro Police Chief Chris Ngcobo, said in a statement.

The authorities credit the practical components like cooperation from the public and the Metro police department (JMPD) officers BUT I add to that by giving credit to God for His intervention and grace.

Thank You Lord Jesus
for hearing our prayers
and thank You Lord for making Joburg safer
and crime-free
We trust You Lord for our safety and
adjust our vision to have You in the centre
of our security plans
We love You Lord Jesus
amen

Now... And then it started: Rain, hail, thunder and wind!!
I saw water trickle from the side of the road. These trickles soon became streams and the streams turned into a mighty gushing of water which I couldnt cross ... and I remembered how this prayerwalk started with Ez 47. The water first ankle deep, knee deep waste deep and eventually to deep to cross ... and when it flowed into the dead sea - it made everything fresh. And I knew in my heart - mission accomplished... And I understand that unless God washes this City - it cannot be clean. So lets keep on praying.

Overview

I stand on a hill
thanks to all prayer partners for your wonderful encouragement and messages. The feedback from people I pass on this journey is so inspiring but today i got a message from a man i met on Monday... I can not yet put into words the depth of healing in his AND MY heart.
Tonight i will go home to wash some very very dirty clothes and start again on the same spot where i ended today.
Please read Psalm 51 as you pray over Joburg.
Free dinner
Free hotel suite
Free breakfast
and it all began when twice this morning, as I walked past, someone would call: Hey Johnny Walker!
And tonighite, after a long day's walk, I started looking for a place to camp.
A sign said Johnnie Walker - I'm uncomfortable in a pub but I felt to go in.
When I asked about a campground, guys started asking about this prayerwalk and i could tell 2 testimonies of miracles i've seen on prayerwalks.
A guy offered me to choose anything for dinner - he'll pay!
Few moments later he said he'd also put me up at this fancy hotel for the night but
the hotel owner said no it will be free - breakfast included
... Now its time to worship!!

Domt wiss the opportunity

Walking about 10 min when a car pulled up.
