Leather Wallet Case 80° for iPhone 6 Plus

And as promised, the shipment was mailed out on the 8 December and I received it on the 3rd day.
(The courier was Skynet, actually it was my first time receiving parcel from Skynet. Pretty punctual I'd say)

Nicely fitted with my access keycard. It can fit 1-2 more cards but I'm fine with just this one.

Pardon the background, had to use some plain neutral color.

Nice curve edges. And you can see that there's a 1mm protruding lip that will help protect the phone if you place it face down on a surface. This, in my opinion, is the most important feature of any handphone case.

And lastly, the certificate of authenticity. Nice.

Mojjo iPhone 6 Plus Leather Wallet Case

Hurray!

Finally took the plunge and ordered the iPhone 6+ from my local Apple Store.

Its gonna take a while to arrive so in the meanwhile, I was shopping for cases.

One of the features I am looking for is that it can hold 1-2 cards so that I can use it to hold my door access card. With that, I only need to tap my iPhone case on my door access sensor and gain access, instead of fumbling through my pockets to find my card. Also, since the iPhone 6+ is significantly larger than my current phone (5S), I foresee that I will carry it in my hand most of the time so any quick access to cards will be highly convenient.

I always wanted to get the Apple Leather Case. But I've been hearing complaints and it doesn't have a card slot that I was looking for.

This mujjo case, on the other hand, has got a nice quality leather which I suppose (I hope!) is much better than Apple's Leather case.

Cole Haan - Application of LP after a week of daily wear

Somehow this is becoming a ritual, or a habit. I prefer to apply to LP a week or so after initial wear. This pair of Cole Haan Chelsea is just amazing. Feels comfy straight out of the box and the leather is beginning to soften like a good'o seasoned boots.

I know, I'm a bad owner. Its only been a week and you can see scratches and scuffs on the leather. But hey, this is what I like about leather boots! It will just become, SO YOU!

Again, no prize for guessing correctly which is the one that's just been applied with the Obenauf's LP.

As mentioned previously, this pair of boots comes with the storm welt and I noticed that the edges of the leather trim is still pretty bare. May be the likely area whereby moist and dirt will like to linger around so I put extra effort to coat this strip with the LP, to be safe.

Looking even more awesome than before! Damn I just love the Obenauf's LP on such leather. The difference in look is amazing. Not to mention the protection it offers. Loving it!

While I was trying out the Chelsea at the retail outlet that weekend, I saw this beautiful pair of shoes beside it that I was totally mesmerized by it. The color combination was just so unique and outstanding (literally!)

But the price tag puts me off. Half a grand for this fancy looking shoe!? Not my style yet and it's gonna be quite difficult to pull it off.

Fast forward to the Cole Haan's Friends and Family 30% off sales. I clicked the purchase button in a record speed of 2.14863 seconds.

BUT.

Immediately after clicking the purchase button, panicked set in.

Is the Zerogrand and Lunargrand same sizing?

I went to search for reviews and I was hit by a bummer. Most reviews say to downsize from Lunargrand. For example, if you're wearing 9.5 for Lunargrand. Get 9.0 for Zerogrand.

I immediately call up the Cole Haan Customer service (despite me being in the other side of the world) and requested to have a change of size. Afterall its was less than an hour since I confirmed my purchase, or so I thought. They cannot change my order once its submitted, doesn't matter it still not yet left the warehouse.

I had no choice but to pray (very hard) for the best and pray that somehow this 9.5 zerogrand will fit me too.

A week plus past and this came with the Lunargrand.

Thank God! The 9.5 fits like a glove! Perfect fit! Couldn't had asked for a better fit. Furthermore, I intend to wear this without socks so if its actually like what other reviews said, I am gonna have a hard time as it will be too loose without socks.

I haven't really wear this out yet. So I can't comment on its comfortable level and feel. But the build of it feel really good. Very light weight. Its so light weight that, when I first received the parcel with 2 pairs of shoes and 2 boxes inside, I thought its either they had sent my 2 boxes without shoes, or they sent me 1 pair only and the other was MIA. I just can't believe the 2 pairs of shoes, with boxes already felt so light!

All in all, this is another great buy. Got it for USD$187.6 (after discount). Again paid about SGD$30 for shipping to Singapore plus another $10 for tax. Still, I bought 2 pairs of great looking shoes for the price of 1, if I purchase them here in Singapore. I don't blame the retailers, the rent is a killer. Sorry but I have a budget to work around also. :p

Hey everyone! I am back, as promised. Really sorry for the lack of updates past few months.

One of the reasons is because there was not much actions going on with the RWs and Clarks. Hardly wear them anymore due to work.

But thankfully, I was introduced to this brand by a friend of mine. Was attracted by their soles design/color mainly, and then I found this particular model that caught my utmost attention.

The Lunargrand Chelsea.

What appealed to me most is the Chelsea design AND the white soles. The white soles reminded me so much of my beloved 875 which was stolen. Since then I began looking for similar looking shoes but less the hassle of tying laces and the weight of a Red Wing.

And then, Cole Haan had this promotion which offered 30% off! (Friends and Family sales) [Don't be turn off by the name. I am neither their personal friends or their family, its just another sales]

So I bought this pair (and the other pair which can be found here.) without much hesitation. (Luckily I went to a retail outlet to try out the size first :p)

It took about a week to reach my US freight forwarded address, and from there it took about 3 days to reach Singapore through Comgateway+DHL, awesome speed and service I'd like to add.

Here comes the pictures:

I ordered (tried at retail outlet first) a 9.5. It felt pretty TTS (True to Size) to me. I wondered why most reviews I read said to downsize by 0.5?

Been wearing this for a week now. Really comfy and absolutely ZERO breaking in needed. The leather is realllllly soft but it doesn't feels cheap. So far no slips. Good traction and no squeaky sounds when on wet cement/tiled floors. Easier to wear (obviously because its Chelsea!)

And the best part? I spent USD$159.60 (after discount). Shipping to SG cost about SGD$30 and extra tax because I shipped in 2 pairs of shoes together which meant the total was above the limit so I had to declare tax. But its still cheaper than what Singapore retail outlet is selling (I saved at least 50%!!!)

Also, another reason why there were lack of updates for the past couple of months was cos I haven't been wearing my RW or Clarks DB as often.

Been wearing the Timberland boots and to be frank, they are nowhere near RW or Clarks in terms of comfort and quality.

But I need a pair of Chelsea boots due to work reasons.

Luckily, through a friend's recommendations and with a stroke of luck, I bought 2 pairs of Cole Haan and they are on the way!

Glenroyal Key Case: Update

Its been 2 years since I had this keycase. It's loaded with my keys, lots of them, and stuffed in my jeans most of the time, tolerating my sweat and humid temperature.

Despite the "thrashing", it turned out even more amazing!

This is why I love leather goods. The more you use it, the more you thrash it, the more it will amaze you.

The qualilty is really well built. The zipper and the stitchings. Not a single them it has shown signs that it will give way or give you problems.

WOW! The water really beads up and not get absorbed! But on closer look, the suede really looks different from the original. Guess its a tradeoff between original looking leather and waterproofed leather.

Buddy Corgi: Water Shield

Started to wear the shoe out and realise a potential problem, water stain. I believe this is a common problem with suede leather since they are unlike other leather which comes treated, they are like a dry piece of cloth that absorbs water readily.

And luckily I still have a bottle of the Obenauf's WaterShield product that I bought years back. I only used them on my canvas, fabric products since the LP and Leather Oil already waterproofs the leather shoes that I have. So finally this comes in handy for a leather product.

The leather appeared to have darken quite a bit from the treatment. I'm fine with that actually. Just makes me curious what would had happen if the leather is beige/white. Hmmmm.

I went to Google more about this brand (and price) of it. Was shocked to see that its still Made in Japan (lots of stuff are Made in China nowadays, but not this) and the price. It was selling at around USD$154, from the first google search result. But the sale I saw, its around USD$48 (SGD$60)!!!

At that price range, what could possibly go wrong with a pair of suede leather that's Made in Japan.

Bought it without second thought. And thank God that my size was still available since its a clearance sale.

2 days later, the parcel came.

Like mentioned, no shoe box. Just shrink wrap.

Even on the sole!

On first sight, it looks pretty straight forward, no frills shoe. But on closer look, a lot of work went into the making of it and the Japanese are doing a great job at making it both comfy and good looking. First, the suede leather: its really soft and absolutely 0 break-in is required. The suede leather by itself is actually quite thin, as you can see from the loop tag, but they compliment nicely with the pigskin lining and makes it extremely comfortable to wear. Next, the rubber sole: again, simple and no frills. Encountered no slips so far (keeping my fingers crossed).

Now I am resisting the BBB* poison to get a second pair in a different color. Reebonz is still having sale on it!

Kawatako 24oz Indigo Camera Case (Actual product review)

Received the parcel from Vpost today. It was quite impressive actually. Having hear many bad reviews on Vpost, I didn't expect to receive the parcel faster than the stated date! It was stated that I will receive them between 12-17 Feb. And I got them on 11 Feb, just 6 days after I paid the shipping in Vpost Japan. Not bad.

Ok cut to the chase;

Parcel was mailed using Yamato Transport within Japan. (Also known as Ta-Q-Bin in Singapore)

Saw the pouch I order nicely wrapped in bubblewrap. But wait, what is that folded paper beside it?? My first thought is its the Invoice. I was only half correct.

It's the Invoice PLUS some free gifts! ( I really admire the Japanese way of doing business)

It's a leather-looking tissue pouch.

And

Leather Key Fob

Closer look at these 2 free gifts before I proceed:

The Leather-looking tissue pouch is actually just synthetic leather. Looks pretty genuine though! I really love the distressed look!

The leather key fob looks like something that really costs some money and effort to make. The leather is really thick and chunky. Not those cheap leather that you come across in push-cart stalls. This is really good leather and I am really surprised they threw this in as a free gift. The green color is also something that's fresh to me. I can't remember when was the last time I bought something in Green color. Needless to say, I never bought a green leather product before. Now this green color is starting to score points!

Ok now back to the main item, the one that I paid for:

Nicely wrapped up. No fancy wrapping, but its ok!

Front. I like how the tag brings out the Oriental flavour of this bag. Somehow denim and Japan seems to be hand in hand, so an asian-looking tag just matches so well with the denim.

Rear

The Brass belt Loop clip is quite heavy for its size and I'm pretty sure it will be a tough one.

And the strap at the back, you can use it to loop your belt through if you wish. But I will try the clip for now first.

And the zippers. It's a custom made YKK zipper with the word 布袋 on it. Translating it literally means "Fabric Bag"

And a secret leather tag hidden within one of the compartments. Love it!

I am really excited about this pouch. The quality and material its built on, I have high expectations on it. And the gold/brass color just blends so well with the dark denim. I can't wait to wear it together with my jeans tomorrow and have it store my EDC stuff like the portable charger, Leatherman multitool, Pen, Torchlight.

Billykirk No. 117 Mechanics Belt

Got this belt from a friend of mine who runs an exquisite online shop that sells mainly Men's Fine Leather Accessories.

Been a fan OnlyBrown since years ago. And that day while I was looking at my Facebook page, he posted an update about the Mechanics Belt back in stock. I remembered seeing the belts back then from his website too. And just when I was looking for a new belt*, this post came right in time and poisoned me.

*If you remembered seeing my earlier posts, yes I did bought a belt just last month, the Levi's belt. But it was a bad purchase. Not that the quality isn't good (it really isn't that GOOD actually), just that I underestimated my waist size and bought 1-2 size smaller that I ought to be. So everytime I have to pull the belt to the max to get into the 1st hole. Bad.

And I was saying, after I saw his Facebook update, I immediately messaged him and the whole buying process, and delivery arranged within hours. Received the belt via courier the next day! All less than 24hours!

Well the story behind the mechanics belt is interesting. The flap was used to protect the metal buckle from scratching the car paintwork, wore by the mechanics back then.

The Mechanics Belt is a Billykirk favorite and easily garners the most interest. Can be worn casual or with a suit. Our mentor's grandfather was making a similar belt for the auto industry back in the 50's and we loved how it functioned. The flap of leather covering the buckle protects the car's paint job from being scratched. A very simple but effective design and a true piece of Americana. We made ours slightly wider, changed the tips, and added some hand stitched details. Also popular with guitarists who don't want to bang up the back's of their guitars. Hand-burnished and edged. 1 1/4" wide. US sourced leather.

Kawatako 24oz Indigo Camera Case

Went in search of, yet another pouch. The first one that I owned, the leather one, was good but abit too much eye-catching. I don't want to look like a cowboy wannabe in the hot tropical Singapore. I just wanted a pouch to place some tools and maybe my iPhone when my pockets are full.

Searched around and almost went ahead with a typical black nylon one for outdoor hiking use. BORING!

Luckily I didn't check out the cart and searched furthermore till I saw this from Self-Edge.

Very nice.
Very pricey.

Timberland Earthkeepers: Update

After almost a year of daily wearing, I have to say I am impressed with this pair of boots. My initial impression wasn't too good on it. Why? First the leather was very thin (and soft) and after 2 pairs of Red Wings, the first Timberland was heavily compared.

What I like about this pair is that it looks like any lace-on boots, WITHOUT the lace-on hassle! PERFECT! And the shape of it looks beautiful.

Look how dirty they are. Gonna clean them with Obenauf's Leather Cleaner and they will be good as new!

Due to work practicality, I am now more inclined to wearing Chelsea boot. It offers best of both worlds to me as it looks and feels like a decent pair of boots, and at the same time I don't have to tie & untie the laces. I still missed wearing my RW 9013. Just that it is too much trouble to undo the laces every time I go to client's house.

Bought this pair of Timberlad Tremont during the Black Friday 2013 sale. It costs me about $90USD. Pretty good price compared to local Timberland store. Perhaps I need to fork out at least $150 for the same pair? Just a rough guess cos I didn't really go out and find out the actual price. But based on past experience, it is DEFINITELY cheaper to get from Amazon. (love ya amazon!)

Very nice boots on first impression. Love the contrasting color stitching and the leather grains. Much thicker leather compared to my previous Timberland. With the thicker leather comes heavier weight. Hopefully I will get used to it soon.

What I Don't Like about this:

Wore it out yesterday for the first time and boy have I regretted. The boot bit my heels so bad I was limping when nearing the end of the day. I wasn't expecting such "toughness" as my previous Timberland requires 0 break-in. I thought this would be the same too. Afterall, who would had expected this to bite more than the Red Wing!?

Another thing that I don't like, the insoles. It felt cheap and lousy as compared to my previous Earthkeepers. This is just a normal insole with no value add.

Pardon the dirt. Been wearing this almost everyday for the past year.

Overall, hope this will be my daily beaters after its been broken in. And perhaps I will drop by a Timberland store tomorrow to get a Anti Fatigue insole.

Levi's 501 Jeans & Belt

Saw a great offer on levi.com that all items were on 40% sale!

Initially, I thought why not just browse the items and add into cart.

Chose a 501 Original Fit Jeans - Rinse. Added into cart. When I saw the price after discount I almost fell off my chair. It only costs USD$28.80!!!!!! My goodness, the same pair could had easily costs more than SGD$100 in Singapore!

As I further shopped for more great bargains, decided to get a belt too and got the Leather Belt - Tan, for USD$22.80.

Leather looks thick, but feels very soft

The Leather belt felt soft and definitely not full grain leather. Well, I have to say I expect a little more from Levi's and from the price I pay. I could easily get a much better quality and unbranded belt from the local leather artisans here.

Jeans-wise, no complaints and definitely good stuff, as you'd expect from Levi's. I got the Raw jeans last year from Levi's website too. Was disappointed to see there's no selvedge (self-edge) so I decided to get something different this year.

Next, while waiting for my Timberland boots to arrive, maybe I'd put some LP on the belt.

Didn't buy much leather goods this Black friday 2013. Just got my DHL parcel containing my Levi's jeans and belt. Can't wait to go home and show you guys the picture. At 40% off, I really don't have much to ask for. But if its really as awesome as the pics are, its a bonus!

Corter Summer Grab Bags finally arrived!

I was patiently waiting for the package to reach my letterbox. And the tracking number they provide will not update once it left the US soil. Eventually it took 1 week plus to reach my letterbox after Corter sent the email with the tracking number.

I ordered 1x Premium Bag and 1x Accessories Bag. Actually, I was having the impression that the items that we will be getting is ALL of the listed names there. What a fool I am! It's EITHER ONE.

Was a little disappointed as I didn't get what I wanted (I was hoping for a Passport cover or a full-bifold wallet)

Ok here is what I got:

It was alright. Not the best that I've seen. Furthermore, to add to the disappointment, there wasn't any Corter Stamp or initial on them. Not that it would make any difference but at least with the stamp, it won't look like a random DIY project that I would have done it myself.

Got 4 Pewter ones and 2 Copper ones

To be honest, these are not what I expected to get, having spent like USD$54. There was a huge disappointment when I opened it up. I couldn't see anything useful in the items that I got. To make myself feels better, I used the bottlehook and the split ring for this purpose:

Will be hooking the bottlehook to my jeans belt loop, with the car key tucked into the jeans coin pocket.
